ITS AN OPEN THREAD

I was even for week 3, so one down, $900/1000 thus far. My Alma Mater and The Vols broke my heart last week. Here we go:

4 Florida State @ Clemson 12:00 PM. Clemson is not rated, but they are at home in Death Valley, one of the loudest venues in all of sport. It’s on my bucket list to see. The Noles aren’t getting much respect tho, they are only 2 point favorites. I think they can cover.

15 Ole Miss @ 13 Alabama 3:30 PM. That’s right, ‘Bama has a loss and isn’t in the top 10. The press is questioning Nick Saban…yeah…don’t. ‘Bama is a 6 point favorite and covers. Don’t back Saban into a corner, ever.

19 Colorado @ 10 Oregon 3:30 PM. Coach Prime Time takes his flying circus west to the perpetually over-rated Oregon Ducks. This is it, Coach Prime, welcome to the big time! This ain’t Jackson State any more. No one is giving the Buffs a chance, they are 21 point dogs on the road. Colorado has no defense but has an incredible offense. The Ducks have QB Bo Nix. 21 points? Hell, if Colorado covers its a moral victory. If they win? Well, miracles can happen. 21 points…Jeeze…I want them to cover. But. Bet with your mind, not your heart. The Buffs don’t cover. Betting against Coach Prime just seems wrong.

6 Ohio State @ 9 Notre Dame 7:30 PM. The Buckeyes travel to play in front of Touchdown Jesus. ND hasn’t won a championship since they built stands in front of Jesus’s lower half. Coincidence? Nope. OSU will choke later in the season but not today and they cover the 3 point spread. Tear down those stands and you’ll win again, ND.

Rugby World Cup

Last week had no surprises EXCEPT, Fiji beat Australia….oh my! And the Italians are 2-0! South Africa plays #1 rated Ireland at 1500 EST Saturday. Ireland has looked flat and South Africa are always tough. The rest of the matches should be as expected for the top 5. All of the action is on Peacock Network.

SUNDAY! it’s the Caribbean Professional League final on the Willow app. As of now, I have no idea who is in. They are doing the playoffs now.

F1 is in Japan and it’s on at 0100 Sunday AM. I’ll be getting home from work at midnight, we pre-ordered a ton of Sushi to be picked up by Mrs Coldwarrior at 2300 Saturday night, saki and Sapporo’s are also on order.

Have a great weekend!

The Argies manage to get past the Samoans 19 to 10 to stay in contention …. just!

My guess is France is now behind the hard hill with their star and captain out injured. The ABs are in a hard place too with a choice of having to face either the the Irish or the Springboks to get into the final quarters. Both are hard games. I think they would rather face the Boks as they are more the known quantity and the Irish eyes are smiling still! If the plans go the right way it’ll be the ABs over the Boks and meet the Greens in the final!

    IF…. things go right!

Someone has to snipe Eddy Jones the Wallaby coach. The guy couldn’t coach a team of Girl Guides making biscuits!

An egotist writ large with a different excuse every time and someone else to blame for his pathetic coaching show! The Aussies should have known better than to trust this guy. Even now he’s sprucking about how great Australia’s rugby will be in 2027! The guy has no shame!

This has better not be true, but I’ve not known this guy to be unreliable.

BREAKING: President Zelenskyy has requested for Marina Abramović to be ambassador for Ukraine.

    https://twitter.com/dom_lucre/status/1705307451858255938

I remembered that name like it was yesterday.

Of all the crazy tales fabricated in this election, this one might have been the most insane. Not just for the paranoid conspiracy posited by the alt-right—Clinton’s satanic network—but for the fact that a performance artist, Marina Abramovic, found herself tossed into the hollow core of the nation’s election news cycle. Enduring decades of obscurity in a tiny artworld niche, Abramovic may have been elevated to A-list celebrity aftĂ„er her MoMA performance The Artist Is Present in 2010, but to now show up on the alt-right’s radar is a whole other level of fame.

Just to recap what happened: an email Abramovic wrote to her longterm friend and collector Tony Podesta showed up in a wikileaks stash. In the email, Abramovic invited Podesta’s brother John, now Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, to join them at a “Spirit Cooking” dinner in her apartment in New York. Infowars reported what they thought Abramovic’s “Spirit Cooking” is and concluded that she and Clinton’s retinue are straight-up Satanists.

For the record: Spirit Cooking is nothing but a little-known (and, measured in her ouvre, a rather throwaway) performance Abramovic did in an Italian gallery in 1996, in which she painted apparent instructions on the white wall with pigs blood. Instructions like: “with a sharp knife cut deeply into the middle finger of your left hand eat the pain.” She also painted a small kind of icon in the corner with the blood too

    https://mitpress.mit.edu/marina-abramovics-spirit-cooking/

yeah, one of her ‘artistic’ pieces used fecal matter too.

Somebody nuke this bullshit. From orbit.

Ed Dowd Makes Chilling Prediction on How the COVID Conspirators Will Cover Up Their Crimes

“These crimes are so horrific [that] I think … once this comes to light, there’ll be no place to hide on the planet, in my humble opinion.”

    https://vigilantnews.com/post/ed-dowd-makes-chilling-prediction-on-how-the-covid-conspirators-will-cover-up-their-crimes

I’ve posted Dowd’s stuff before, he’s one of the good guys, former hedge fund manager at Blackrock and he knows the numbers.

“Well, so this is the problem,” answered Dowd. “In more normal times, we’d peacefully vote all these people out, then investigate them and prosecute them. But these crimes are so horrific [that] I think the establishment is going to try to create a diversion or steal the election to prevent themselves from ever being prosecuted. Because once this comes to light, there’ll be no place to hide on the planet, in my humble opinion.”

    @ eaglesoars:
    @ coldwarrior:
I’ve been thinking lately about all of the shit that is going down and the who that are bringing this shit to the fore, and the why that they keep doing this wickedness and looking for some commonalities close to home in me.

A thought sprang fully formed, that I was still way too prideful in the way I was looking at the world in general and me in particular, through my personal experiences. It was this pride for the stuff, that had invaded my life in the past, that had forced me kicking and screaming through an annealing fire that developed things inside of me that now inspire me. I was proud of these trials, mostly involuntarily, and in many cases terrifying, that now I was prideful. I was living on past experiences, and there was a whole lot more (an inexhaustible supply in fact) that I was missing before I reach my potential. Trials aplenty of challenges that can still both test and terrify me, and provide that annealing fire that will further test and confirm what I can still become. The terror and challenge of facing that which is hard and moving past it, changed for the better.

I was suddenly seeing the annealing power of fear and suffering writ large, both from the outside but more to the point internally. That old shibboleth that what doesn’t kill you strengthens you, and changes you for the better. Then suddenly I realised that the world up to about the past decade or so was pretty darned ‘cruisey’ except for most of the past tough and scary stuff, that had in fact changed me for the better. But now I was in cruise mode. Now instead of having tough and scary stuff forcing me to face those inevitable ‘demons’ and grow, I was slacking.

I noticed the slackers who didn’t face their ‘demons’, and they were those who seemed to be on the slacker’s super highway. Mostly those who could tell you how oppressed they felt, how much they were victims, and how unfair the world was. That rankled me that perhaps I had somehow joined the slackers, victim highway and that was not where I wanted to be. I wanted that hard road again because that is where I was supposed to be, facing the trials of the world and growing. I was too comfortable and not both suffering enough to kick in that annealing fire again. The poor and meek in fact had it easy, as they always had the tough row to hoe, and every chance to overcome their challenges and improve. Now with all of the ‘shit’ that is blowing about our ears in the last decade is in fact a blessing in disguise, for us to rise to the challenge and get stronger in the process.

What a lucky bunch of buggers we are to live in such fraught times. So challenging, terrifying and so full of chances to discover how much deeper our potential extends. Once you realise that we are here to suffer, be terrified and find the guts to rise above it all, it suddenly becomes clear.

Oh and to all of you who fear death, be advised that it’s hollow. Been unwillingly there a number of times already, and once passed ‘the bit’ where you have run out of ideas of how you can survive and are terrified, you get to the great place where you accept it and just enjoy the ride. It’s not really scary at all.
It’s when you survive and you end up with the shakes and feel as if you’ve been run down by a 600 pound gorilla, that you realise that you are back for an other round!

I kid you not! It is also experiential and character, and potential developing!

    🙂

My best guess is that in these types of contests there will be no potential ‘black swan’ left when the dust settles after Rupert kicks off his mortal coil. It will be brutal and terminal for someone. My guess is that Lachlan will be ‘dog tucker’ and Fox will become CNN 2.0 with Comrade James back in charge.

The Murdoch struggle for Succession isn’t over – and it’s sister Elisabeth who holds the key after Rupert Murdoch steps away from the media empire

The speculation as to the succession can be dated to 1994 when, prophetically, he said: ‘I expect to do it [hand over] in about 30 years.’ Give or take a month he was almost spot on.

Elisabeth, 55, was said to be the sharpest of his children, but Murdoch the establishment disruptor curiously subscribed to the old-fashion traditions of a son with the family name inheriting.

Lachlan, he declared, was first among equals and soon after, in 2000, Elisabeth quit the family business and launched her own successful television production company, Shine.

Lachlan shared his father’s Right-wing politics and, apparently, his love for newsprint as well as the rugged landscape of their Australia homeland.

He was seen as the ‘golden child’, the one with whom his father was most closely aligned. But just as with TV’s Succession, this drama had its share of reverses and shifts in the perceived rankings of the siblings.

Murdoch worried that tattooed, easy-going Lachlan, with his love for rock climbing, was a little too relaxed and did not want the top job enough.

When Lachlan clashed with Fox News’ then chief Roger Ailes, it all but confirmed it.

Abruptly in 2005 he quit as News Corp’s deputy chief operating officer, moved back to Sydney with his young family and set up a private investment firm.

That left James as heir apparent and for a decade it seemed he was the likeliest successor.

But his liberal politics — he vowed to make the business carbon-neutral and invested in prestige brands such as National Geographic channel — led to another crisis, again over Fox News. This time it was over the network’s hardcore conservative bias and he, too, quit.

In the years since, James has developed an atavistic hatred for Fox News, delivering an implicit rebuke of the channel without naming it over the storming of Washington’s Capitol building in 2021.

‘The sacking of the Capitol is proof positive that what we thought was dangerous is indeed very, very much so,’ he said. ‘These outlets that propagate lies to their audiences have unleashed insidious and uncontrollable forces that will be with us for years.’

He withdrew completely from the family’s news operations and began a media fund called Lupa Systems investing in Left-leaning companies. By then his brother had returned from Australia and resumed his position as his father’s heir.

So what does all this mean? Of one thing we can be certain: it is the UK-based Elisabeth who will be kingmaker.

The media executive, who this week was in Cambridge for the Royal Television Society’s conference, remains close to both brothers who are now polar opposites, both politically and ideologically.

Indeed, the two men are now said to no longer speak.

Lachlan is in step with his father’s conservative opinion; James loathes Fox for its full-throated defence of former president Donald Trump, which he considers toxic and a menace to American democracy.

Last year, he hosted a fundraiser for Joe Biden’s Democrats. Murdoch observers believe James is, however, biding his time until he and his sisters can seize control of the company after Rupert is gone and sell or purge Fox. But there is no guarantee this scenario will come to pass.

The family dynamics are constantly shifting. When James was based in Britain during the crisis over the phone-hacking scandal and the now-defunct News of the World, Elisabeth was reported to have told her father that her brother should be sacked.

When the family celebrated Lachlan’s 40th birthday in 2011 on board Rupert’s 184ft yacht, Rosehearty (which he later sold), Elisabeth left before James and his wife Kathryn arrived.

They are close now, but she is equally fond of Lachlan — joining him and their father for this year’s Super Bowl in Arizona.

A figure close to her was reported as saying that she wants to enjoy the time she has left with her father. ‘She’s terrified of Rupert dying mad at her,’ the source added.

In a family as volatile as the Murdochs — just like Successions’ Roys — there are simply no absolutes.

Remember, it is not that long ago that Vanity Fair was reporting that Lachlan had accused James of leaking storylines to the makers of the TV series and told his father that he thought this was happening.

James did not attend the 90th birthday celebrations for his father and wasn’t there this summer while the tycoon was wooing the new love in his life, Elena Zhukova, former mother-in-law of oligarch Roman Abramovich. Tellingly, Lachlan and his children were present.

In every empire with an ageing monarch the first hint of a new crown prince is enough to whip courtiers into a frenzy. It happened in Succession and many believe it will inevitably happen with the Murdochs, too.

For now, Murdoch can do as he pleases but, after his death, the family trust holds the assets and each of the four siblings carries an equal vote. How the women cast their votes will be crucial.

Insiders tend to the view that Elisabeth will ultimately back James and Prudence will side with the majority.

That would be 3-1 against Lachlan. Within this highly competitive family there is said to be a motto: you either win or walk away. Which is why no one is taking bets on the final outcome.

Lauchlan is prepping for a bloody assault. He’s just appointed Tony Abbott (the former conservative Australian Prime Minister) to the Board of Fox. They don’t call Abbott the ‘Mad Monk’ for no reason. He takes no prisoners; did a few years studying for the priesthood before deciding to have a brace of children; was an excellent conservative PM EXCEPT he got Act 10C wrong and it cost him his prime ministership. Tried to go easy on religious freedom of expression as a sup to the left, and the conservatives turned on him and ate his lunch!

A recent poll by Gawker determined that Pittsburgh, sometimes called “Picksburgh” by locals, has the worst accent in America, beating out second-place Scranton and, yes, even predicted winner/loser Boston. The accent, lovingly called “Pittsburghese” by natives, is so unique to Western Pennsylvania that many Americans haven’t even heard of it.

Every time I said “haint it” my Mardi Queen mother backhanded me.

Finally I have something useful to contribute.

In the past Britain ruled all the world, all of it. While doing so there was an obligation to bring news and vital information to the Empire.

That was the past. For some reason in 2023 The BBC still produces content in very many languages to fulfil the obligations to former colonies. All funded by humble British tax payers.

As an example, there is BBC America, still broadcasting content in the American language so Americans can understand it even though they kicked the British, and by extension the BBC, out over 200 years ago.

My favorite BBC foreign language site is one I have bookmarked and when I feel sad, lonely or drunk I go there and read it. If you are alone it is best if you read the articles aloud. If not alone read them aloud in your head.

Visiting that site makes me happy….

    A food post.

That thing with the cabbage I actually cooked a few days ago. Well kind of. I like it and do it often.

Yeah you know I live alone, have no friends and cats that refuse to share human food. They REFUSE human food, a can of tuna is human food so if I open one I have to eat all of it, alone.

What I d is get a small cabbage, one that fits in my lonely old man sized crock pot. Remove the outer leaves until it fits then cut out a cone shaped wound in it to remove the stalky thing.

Coat the inside of small crockpot with peanut oil to kind of prevent sticking. Place cabbage in, fill the V wound with a mix of ground beef, finely chopped onions, seasoning sometimes chopped raw bacon too if the ground beef is not fatty enough.

The rest of the beef mixture is placed on top of the cabbage. Lid on then on low for eight hours. Don’t fuck with it, just leave it alone.

Result is beef mixture cooks, the fat works its way among the cabbage leaves and the whole thing is a nice cooked soggy mess.

Disgusting you may say, but we are not done yet

When it is time for supper pour a small amount of peanut oil into a skillet, heat until oil starts to smoke then scoop out a generous portion of the beef and cabbage soggy mess into skillet.

Let it brown on one side then flip it.

Single man version of Bubble and Squeak.

Actually, it sounds wonderful and not expensive!

    Ok, Harry and Meghan update.

It seems the William Morris Entertainment agency that signed Meghan not too long ago (but not Harry) is getting a bit pissed off at all the negative publicity these two get. So they’ve tried to strong arm the various outlets to shape up or access to WME’s A-list clientele will be cut off. Well, how did THAT go?

WME just got a MAJOR ‘fuck you yesterday’ message from the media.

The Sun broke the story but the Daily Mail splashed it all over the universe.

Two years ago when H&M visited one of the most underserved elementary schools in NYC, they tried to get the school AND all the students to sign an NDA saying they would say nothing negative about them on social media ‘now or in the future’. No word on if it actually got signed.

So, on that level it’s pretty hilarious.

    On another, not so much.

AFAIK, Harry is still collecting a pay check from a department of the Aspen Institute that fights ‘disinformation’. Harry is on record saying he thinks our 1st amendment is ‘bonkers’ so this foreign twat is over here trying to curtain our 1st amendment rights.

I really cannot understand what Harry and Meghan want in life.

A lot of criticism has been targeted at Meghan’s acting ability but I must admit I watched Suits up until she and the main star left, then it was crap so stopped. She was actually good as a character actress I thought.

Also another admission, there was one show I binge watched and she showed up in two episodes and I went to IMDB to look at the cast and was surprised it was her. Could have been Fringe,

Anyway there is a way to escape the Royal Family trauma thing. Edward did it. As all royals do he had to go into the armed forces, he did but dropped out of the Royal Marines Commandos and went into artistic theater and TV stuff and everyone then thought he was gay and laughed and forgot him.

    who?

I’ve spent years looking at the evidence. Out of his own mouth, Harry is one of the most malicious personalities you will encounter, right down to animal abuse. He is also a pathological liar, see the story he told about burying the remains of Meghan’s ‘miscarriage’ from the hospital to a hole he dug with his own hands under a banyan tree nobody knows about. A lot of people think the Palace covered that up, but I don’t think they understood the malice. Fucked up? Yeah. But it’s bad enough that if I were William and Catherine, he would be allowed nowhere near my children. That bad. There is speculation that as Diana was bulimec when she was pregnant with Harry he may have been damaged in the womb.

Meghan is a mid-range narcissist and there are very predictable phases they go thru. But everything about her is a facade because she has zero authentic emotions except the needs of her narcissism. All narcissists need fuel and her fuel is $$ and public acclaim. They also need absolute control and they need it by the nanosecond. I’ve learned to watch her micro facial expressions and it isn’t pretty. The only person I’ve ever seen that really terrifies her is Catherine. On the Windsor walk about after Queen Elizabeth’s death, the 2 couples got out of different cars and when they joined up, Catherine gave her a laser stare of death that actually made Meghan flinch and reach for Harry. Her facial expression was OH FUCK I’M DEAD.

Meghan never intended to stay in the royal family once she understood she could never be top bitch. She even told the Queen to shove it. She will never put herself in a position where she will have to curtsey to Catherine. All she had to do to accomplish that was validate Harry’s insecurities about being THE SPARE and validate his feelings of insecurities as being his heartless family’s fault.

She had set up merchandising domains early on. She intended to make money off being a royal. I could go on.

So, Meghan is considering a run for office, Harry still wants revenge against his family and it is what is called a ‘folie a deux’: Shared psychotic disorder (folie Ă  deux) is a rare disorder characterized by sharing a delusion among two or more people in a close relationship. The inducer (primary) who has a psychotic disorder with delusions influences another nonpsychotic individual or more (induced, secondary) based on a delusional belief Meghan is the ‘primary’, the inducer.

For the uneducated in here a QSL means that when you are all alone in your mom’s basement with your radio and twiddling the little knobs and keying the microphone and yelling ” can anyone hear me” someone did.

A QSL card is a written confirmation of either a two-way radiocommunication between two amateur radio or citizens band stations; a one-way reception of a signal from an AM radio, FM radio, television or shortwave broadcasting station; or the reception of a two-way radiocommunication by a third party listener. A typical QSL card is the same size and made from the same material as a typical postcard, and most are sent through the mail as such.

QSL card derived its name from the Q code “QSL”. A Q code message can stand for a statement or a question (when the code is followed by a question mark). In this case, ‘QSL?’ (note the question mark) means “Do you confirm receipt of my transmission?” while ‘QSL’ (without a question mark) means “I confirm receipt of your transmission.”[1]

Being serious in the early nineties I had a UK CB radio installed in my car. We were limited to one watt FM only so really bugger all use for anything over a couple of miles.

On way to work in the morning one day just listening and occasionally chatting to others stuck on the M25 which is a beltway around London suddenly everyone had Scottish accents. And I mean a lot of them.

One of those rare events where the ionosphere or aliens bounced short range transmissions hundreds or thousands of miles.

LoL and it was a two way bounce. Us in London asking for traffic reports and the Scottish answering back ” No problems here”

    Hmmmm interesting!

Just had an out of the blue demand, and I use that word advisedly, from none other than the Bank of New Zealand, regarding my international taxation status. What international Taxation status? Seeing that I only have a peripheral association with the BNZ through my Visa Card and an association as a ‘Charitable Trustee’ with the Auckland RSA Trust, I wondered whether I was experiencing a scam or perhaps a phishing attack via my e-mail account.

Rather than complying I went straight to the BNZ directly. At least I wasn’t just complying with a demand for information from a weird supposed BNZ web site, that popped into my e-Mail stream. Turns out that the Indian gentleman who insisted on calling me ‘Mr. Peter’ was indeed from the BNZ itself. Even this BNZ staff member wasn’t all that clear, whether or not the web-site was a Phishing scam or part of the BNZ itself. Finally he convinced himself that it was indeed part of the BNZ itself. I asked him a few searching questions about which part of the BNZ was casting about all of a sudden for information from clients, with the vaguest association with the BNZ
(that of the banking holder of my Visa Card, but no other BNZ products, at all) . Maybe it was just BNZ Marketing touting for business?

Turns out that it was the ‘Commons’ of the OECD (now what in hell is the ‘Commons’ of the OECD, who was putting pressure on both the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, the NZ IRD, and through these two organisations, pressuring the big four Banks in NZ, to use any and all levers, however tenuous, with clients to discover which taxation regimes those clients belong. My Indian interlocutor opined that if I didn’t want to fill in a long winded data collection on-line, all I had to do was visit a BNZ branch and tell them directly that I was registered for tax with New Zealand alone, and had no other international taxation complications. A simple yes or no. When asked what other information they would collect on behalf of the OECD he said nothing at all! All the BNZ wanted, on the OECD’s behalf, was a simple NO international complications, I am only registered for Taxation with the NZIRD. No other data needed. They would fill out the rest of the form! What do you mean ….THE FORM ?
Hmmmmm and what other data sets were appearing on this FORM? I thought it was only about Taxation registration, nothing more at all?

Turns out I was supposed to deliver all manner of information to the local BNZ staff, including my full contact and online connections, family information, my IRD information and photo ID from a government sourced card such as Passport or Driver’s Licence. I asked my Indian gentleman, who still called me Mr. Peter and then abjectly apologised for his cultural habit, why his former suggestion, “that all the BNZ wanted a simple confirmation of being registered solely with the NZ IRD”
. Now he was ‘extending his former ‘truth’ to include virtually my and my family’s life and communications history.

He was having a serious problem of reconciling his former ‘truth’ to what was in store for me, if and when I showed up at the local BNZ Branch, to be faced with ‘THE FORM’! He said that it was for the IRD and NZ Reserve Bank’s compliance, from the ‘Commons’ of the OECD, which was the final destination of my family data set. I opined that this sounded dodgy, and since when did the ‘Commons’ of the OECD get statutory superiority over NZ government authorities, who were then using Banking Corporates to do the data trolling, on the ‘Commons’ of the OECD’s behalf.? My Indian gentleman assured me that the OECD was only vacuuming up NZ held data, to stop money laundering and for the international good!

It would appear that indeed I may have just experienced and attempt at a ‘Phishing scam ‘, not from some obscure bastard from a back street in Cyprus, but from ‘The Commons’ of the OECD via the NZ IRD / Reserve Bank of NZ and via one of the Big Four banks in the High Streets of NZ, doing theta collection ‘dirty work’ of the OECD.

    Hmmmm !

I opined before leaving my Indian gentleman, that all of this data may come into its own, when digital currency arrives . I think he choked on his cocoa at that point!

this was back before the shit we have now. they wanted to move him out to the general floor to die, i threw a complete tantrum and got my way. my crew in the ICU backed me up. this man would not be left alone again, Bastogne. i sat at bedside well past my end of shift. bastogne would not be alone now. dr pande, a brilliant indian intensivist backed me up.

i went to one to one as his heart slowly let out. he gave me his beat to shit automatic Seiko and told me to not let his kids fight over it. the watch did many years at the mill and served him well. he made me take it.

its nothing special as a watch goes, i took it to my jeweler and they were perplexed to why i wanted this beater serviced and cleaned. it would cost more than it was worth, then i told them the story.

i havent been willing to strap on the watch until a few days ago. it sat there, i couldn’t. 12 years. the beater lives, and keeps good time. i put it on two days ago, some guy from bastogne smiled. ffs, it took me long enough.

So far, I’m glad I didn’t spend the money to go out to L.A. for this year’s Crossroads festival. I’m watching on PPV, and it’s been nothing to write home about.
I think the best performance so far has been Joe Bonamassa. Cody seemed to really like Sheryl Crow for some reason.

Clapton has been like the groundhog. He’s poked his head out a couple of times, but that’s it.

Yeah but this is 2023 and the quality of manufacture is far advanced than 40 years ago.

Anything made in the old days thirty plus years ago emitted radio frequencies that were a multiple or a divisor of the intended frequency. New stuff still does to a certain extent but due to the better quality of the transmitter and better shielding of the transmitter not a lot of unintended interference on other frequencies escapes.

Take a look at the door of your microwave. See the mesh with the holes in it. The holes will be the size of a quarter of the wavelength of the microwave wavelength.

The only reason we can now have wifi and 5G and Bluetooth and airpods is electronic shit s obeying strict rules as to emissions outside their operating band.

At RAF Lakenheath our Munitions Maintenance Squadron radio frequency, (We loaded bombs on F-111F’s) happened to be the same one that a New York City cab company used. We had a blast chatting with them when we had a good bounce.

I’m really showing my age now. When I was stationed in Italy at a nuclear warhead storage facility, we had three of these, just like what’s in the video. The FM radios were for communication between our teams, and the massive AM/SSB unit on the other side was to talk to our headquarters:

    Yale Law School??!!

On my two law school tour last week I saw something that genuinely surprised me. A student had a tri-folded cardboard name tag in front of him. No big deal, I thought, in a big class professors might need those and while I don’t use first names many of my colleagues do.

Then he explained there are three colors: green for willing to talk, yellow for being on the cusp of being willing to talk, and red for not being prepared. I was stunned — the idea of a law school class where students could opt out of being called on! Judges don’t let you put up the red light when you don’t want to answer.

I can’t quite put my finger on the causation. Do law students demand to be treated like fragile children or do law faculty start treating them that way? Either way what a joke — in practice the vast majority of the class stays on yellow.

This innovation will never find its way to my classroom at Chicago. But it is ok for the romper room that is Yale Law School.

This was discussed apparently in 2020 during the kick off of Covid-19 by the G 20 nations. I, too, find this totally believable

Political author Greg Rubini has reported inside info that:

Kamala will be forced to resign as VP, and sent to the senate to replace Dianne Feinstein.

Then, Gavin Newsom will be subbed in as VP.

THEN they will REMOVE Joe Biden from office.

QUOTE: “either he will ‘die of Covid’ or ‘he fell from his bicycle’ or whatever. One way or another, he will be forced to resign.”

Then, Newsom will run against Trump!

I HAVE NO TROUBLE BELIEVING ANY OF THIS.

Because since 2020 it’s become obvious that politics has become a 3-d chess game, with human pieces FROM BOTH PARTIES being moved into their places.

So when Newsom says he won’t run for president – this is what he means.

The presidency will be given to him.

SET TO TUMBLE? I’m an online expert – Russell Brand’s ‘refuge’ platform Rumble may be forced offline under new internet safety laws

    https://www.thesun.ie/tvandshowbiz/11391225/online-expert-russell-brand-platform-rumble-safety-laws/

The Canada-based platform has come under scrutiny after being used by Brand to share videos as he denies allegations of rape and sexual assault.

He has been posting daily episodes of his Stay Free programme on Rumble since signing a deal with the website a year ago.

It now faces being regulated by UK media watchdog Ofcom under the new Online Safety Bill, which was approved by Parliament last week and is due to become law next month.

Tougher new rules could prompt Rumble’s bosses to stop broadcasting to Britain, a tech expert has now suggested.

The new law says internet firms must prevent children from seeing pornography as well as any material promoting eating disorders, self-harm and suicide.

Violent content and material harmful to health, including misinformation about vaccines, will also be barred.

And platforms will also be told to take down illegal material such as videos inciting violence or race hate.

I don’t know what’s going on with Russell Brand. I know he started to make political sense a few years ago. I know he was a wild man for quite awhile an then cleaned up his act. He’s been very open about it.

What I find odd is that these sexual assault allegations have come YEARS after they allegedly took place and soon after he became a political adversary of everything woke.

NYC now preparing to spend staggering extra $1B on hotels alone to shelter migrants for three more years

    https://nypost.com/2023/09/25/nyc-now-preparing-to-spend-staggering-extra-1b-on-hotels-alone-to-shelter-migrants-for-three-more-years/

New York City is preparing for the worst — extending its contract with local hotels to help house migrants for up to three more years at a staggering added cost of more than $1 billion.

And the revised contract’s projected new total $1.365 billion price tag — nearly five times what the original deal called for — would just pay the rental fees to more than 100 hotels converted into emergency migrant shelters.

It doesn’t include the cost of city facilities and other rented sites housing homeless asylum seekers pouring into the Big Apple by the thousands every week.

Critics — including even some Democrats — raged that the Adams administration’s contract with the New York City Hotel Assocation, which is set to be extended from this year through August 2026, reeked of a taxpayer giveaway.

It’s on ALL their fragrance orders.

Also, I just realized that the word ‘weird’ violates the “i before e except after c” rule.

I just want people to understand. The legal system just took Trump’s wealth – just about all of it – and is now well on the way to imprisoning him for life.

some months ago I researched why in God’s name he didn’t pardon Julian Assange. And it turned out Mike Pompeo threatened to resign if he did.

And now Pompeo – who I once respected – is out there flogging our so-called responsibility to Ukraine.

What I THINK I’m looking at is Trump being trussed up like Assange. And I know I’m probably the oldest person here so many may not know/remember – but Ukraine looks like Vietnam.

What is different and MUCH more nefarious now is the WEF/digital currency/internet laws.

The UK has just passed a law under the guise of ‘protecting the children’ – where have we heard THAT before – that controls public speech. That is why that bitch whose name I don’t recall at the moment sent a letter to Rumble asking about the monetization of Russell Brand, etc. The law has passed, King Charles MUST sign it. The citizens of the UK are now breaking the law if they so much as DISCUSS the Russell Brand case on any public forum.

We thought it would knock on the front door. No. It is seeping thru the floorboards.

Now This is getting interesting-er and Interesting-er. As as happens no matter how much shippers complain, It always comes down to what level of risk assessors place on cargos. You’d be surprised just how much the PRICE goes up as risk assessors do their sums. The world is based entirely on risk assessments and the resulting COST that determines shipping viability.

The Chinese will find out to their chagrin that shipping electric vehicles with batteries attached will fast become just too expensive due to insurance premiums. ANOTHER reason why what is effectively an ‘Island state’ that is China will be held hostage by insurance companies when they take Taiwan and the world refuses to pay exhorbant

Living on an inland sea, the South China Sea, as the Chinese does, makes them vulnerably to insurance demands for their exports in times of war! China has no seriously viable conduits for their exports to the world except by sea cargos through the extremely dangerous South China Sea. Surrounded as it is by easily mined choke points. Just look at a map. China is effectively an Island Nation that has vulnerable choke points as its key access to international shipping.

Wars can be fought in a number of ways! Trade and insurance is an easy option.

Our airplane flew like a stunned Dodo with an extra 10 tonnes of alcohol in the passenger deck overhead lockers. Yet knowing this we STILL were forced to turn a blind eye to the practice. 10 tonnes of alcohol stored glass bottles in overhead lockers + 330 passengers in the middle of an ocean at night in a tropical storm in ‘smoking’ !

    Food post.

I bitch and moan about cooking for one takes as much time as cooking for a huge family. It is true, a roast is a roast. Difference is f I cook a roast I am eating it for days, and days.

However there are some meals I prepare that take just three minutes. So here is a three minute meal that is great for lunch or a snack at 3am when drunk as a skunk.

Uncle Ben ready rice, Garden Vegetable is my favorite for this. Open pouch and microwave 90 seconds and it is done. While it is microwaving heat up a SMALL skillet, small because it is a meal for one. A big skillet you gonna be eating this shit for days, with a splash of peanut or coconut oil, Get it hot.

Add finely chopped onion to the hot oil. I always have chopped onion in fridge in a zip lock because a whole onion is too big.

Let onion sizzle for 30 seconds then add half the pouch of Uncle Ben’s, stir it all up then crack an egg on it and stir again and turn off the heat.

Let it cook for a minute or so then onto a plate it goes.

Now, add a splosh of mayo to one side of the plate and a small puddle of Teriyaki or sweet and sour or any other sauce you can think of to the other side. Honey mustard would be good.

The way you eat this is important. DO NOT MIX IT ALL UP TOGETHER. The way to enjoy this is to dip your fork in the mayo then scoop up some rice and eat. Same with the side sauces, dip fork in then scoop up the rice.

That way every fork full is a different taste, not one big plate of same flavoured shit.

Now Haley is attacking DeSantis on energy independence. DeSantis took it with a grin and corrected her on her attack points. “That’s just wrong. This is what happened.”

DeSantis has been cool the entire debate. Hasn’t stumbled, had answers for every not-so-subtle gotcha question.

Yeah and I know that Uncle Ben ready rice is expensive. $2.33 26.5 Âą/oz and a sack of rice is like ten bucks for a twenty pound bag.

Thing is cooking rice from scratch takes twenty minutes, then what about the garden vegetables part. Do I go to the store and buy half a carrot, fourteen peas, and a couple of chunks of a green pepper?

So my way of thinking is half a pouch of Uncle Ben’s is buck twenty, add an egg for ten cents and I got a meal for less than two dollars and no fucking left overs.

I agree Eagles. The combat brigades available to the US is reaching pathetic levels. The base logistics remains marginally viable but the available combat boots on the ground have reached the minimum and then continued south from there. As for tech pulling the fat out of the fire? the tech is developing but the capability for capacity production has vanished by being outsourced. The hollowing out of the US forces structure has been going on for way too long for any quick turnaround now. THAT in itself makes me VERY twitchy about the Tac Nuke scenario, especially if the Russians set the ball rolling and a few US Combat Battle Groups dissolve in a flash of dialable Plutonium.

There was a Star Trek episode about two civilizations at war. It was a lottery gig. Your number came up and you went into a tube that vaporized you. All based on an algo. The warring civilizations thought it was a better idea than actually blowing shit up and they each got to maintain their infrastructure.

Another thing. I don’t think many people truly understand the terms of Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. In my opinion, he was the greatest president in our history. There is a lot of hagiography around him and it is all well deserved.

But what people miss is his utter ruthlessness. He burned half this country right down to the ground. And don’t get me started on how he unleashed Sheridan. “The only good Indian is a dead Indian” guy.

Lincoln took no prisoners. And the prisoners he did take, he hanged.

There was a former US general who has been vocal about ending the UE-RU war for over a year now who has all been but shunned and ignored. He laid out why the US would not win a conventional war with Russia at this point and that the current Russian army in the field is not what was around in Feb. 2022. Their joint combined arms tactics have improved immensely. They have mass produced the needed materials for a prolonged conflict and have 350k soldiers in reserve. Ukraine has losses of 7:1 and are out of troops with over millions of citizens abroad and never returning. He also said his biggest fear is the US sleeping walking into a nuclear conflict predicated on the US use of tactical nukes which will quickly escalate.

The current crop of reprobates in DC are way out of their depth, but are so self-deluded believing they are capable.

The walk took me past a fenced lot with a guard dog that would bark at me non-stop until I had passed, even though I told it to sit, hush, and every other dog command I could think of. Then I hollered at it to STFU and STFD en el español. Dog froze, cocked its head and sat down. Problema solved.

There are dogs here running loose that are typical Hispanic dogs. Little and yappy. That is not derogatory, there is a weight limit of about twenty five pounds here in apartment complex.

I try to make friends with them as they chase me. I actually do not run very fast, neither do they but we have fun.

Idon’t like those little doggs and they do not like me. I am a Gringo.

The dogs I would like to get to know and look after are the bigger dogs that got dumped in the Park and Ride parking lot there.

They are getting fed, and you would not guess by who.

    The homeless people living there.

I would take pictures and videos but I am not stupid. I don’t belong here.

My Godson just got kicked upstairs to ‘Full Chicken Colonel, after suffering purgatory as one of two ADCs to the Secretary of Defence inside the five sided puzzle Palace’, for the past few years. He’s just been posted to the Army War College as a senior instructor. One of the few these days, who actually led troops in battle. Didn’t lose one of his Samoans either, even surviving being harassed by a one star back in Corps with all of the ‘creature comforts’ of course, mumbling ‘suggestions’ in his left ear, as he was in the middle of fighting an urban battle. I might say, like most officers back in Corps, they had never actually commanded troops in battle themselves, whereas my Godson was being shot at on a daily basis. Typical!
    SPIT

Losing a Battle Group per day in a serious war, with half a Division of wounded per day, brings serious officers to the fore. The US are going to need all of those Reservists Guard and 90 day enforced troops that they can get. First problem is getting shot of Millie, and putting a serious soldier in charge.

There was a Star Trek episode about two civilizations at war. It was a lottery gig. Your number came up and you went into a tube that vaporized you. All based on an algo. The warring civilizations thought it was a better idea than actually blowing shit up and they each got to maintain their infrastructure.

Yup I remember that show. Trouble is not actually losing stuff prolongs war and killing on cue is reprehensible. Same thing with neutron enhanced warheads that destroys flesh but leave behind infrastructure is totally amoral. If you insist in poking an enemy, with black letter written down tactical policy, that has no ‘shift gears’ break between conventional and tac-nuke is just silly. But that is exactly what the US has had in place for 40 years. The mid 1970s to mid 1980s were the most dangerous of times. That decade dwarfed what happened in the early 1960s when the CCCP were mostly bluffing and they knew that they would blink first. Except when by accident they almost blew up the world, and it took a VERY brave Soviet operational commander on the spot, to refuse to take that lethal step without checking first! Other than that almost accidental ‘oppsy’ the 1960s were just a bit of bluff. Kennedy was totally out of his depth and it showed. Fortunately he knew enough to realise his own failings and sought wise mentors to help him got out of a potentially deadly spot.

Iremember reading last shutdown that they actually don’t have to close the parks, there is some kind of loophole on staffing for the parks. The left just does it to get people riled up against the Republicans for “holding the country hostage.” Similar thing with welfare programs, since they are state run they can keep operating but the dems shut them down everywhere they can get away with it to generate hostility.

Of course. Last time, they even put up barricades around the open-air monuments in DC like the WWII Memorial. Nobody even works there, aside from someone to cut the grass and empty the trash cans. They literally used more resources to keep people out than they normally do to have it open.

LOL finally got a straight answer.

Q; “do lentils reduce testosterone levels’

LOL ANSWER: “Lentils are a type of legume that are rich in protein and fiber. They are also a good source of vitamins and minerals such as iron, potassium, and folate. While lentils are a nutritious food choice, there is limited scientific evidence to suggest that they have a direct impact on testosterone levels1. However, some sources suggest that plant proteins like lentils and nuts may be linked to lower testosterone levels”

    Lentils make you gay…….
