I broke even last week because I got into a confirmation bias loop, and I know better than that.

45/82 $1050/$1000

Fact of the matter is Michigan is FOR REAL. Alabama is playing at a completely different level than everyone else. Ohio State, like Miami, were over rated again. It happens every year.

The Relentless North Wind started last week, PA did not get an Autumn, we went straight into Winter. On the Deck tonight it’s Pennsylvania Shit Mist and wind. Yet I persevere. Yay, tho intemperate meteorology casts it’s icy grip, I defy! I will enjoy my Avo Vezuvian Synchro Fogato Cigar with a neat Hornito’s Nuevo tequila whilst writing my football picks. In my heart it is 68F with a light breeze!

And, My H.S. Alma Mater won their WPIAL Quarter final game last night 7-6! Big doings in this little town!

Let’s get busy, shall we?

Wisconsin at #20 Penn State – Sat, Nov 10, 12:00 PM ET – PSU looked like dogshit against Michigan last week. W is getting 9 at Happy Valley. PSU had better beat this spread.

South Carolina at #15 Florida – Sat, Nov 10, 12:00 PM ET – The Gamecocks are getting 6 at Florida? Oh hell no. The Gators cover.

#10 Ohio State at #18 Michigan State – Sat, Nov 10, 12:00 PM ET – The Buckeyes are giving 4 on the road at Sparty. OSU has to beat this spread.

Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh – Sat, Nov 10, 3:30 PM ET – VaTech is getting 3 at my beloved Panthers. PITT covers at home.

#11 Kentucky at Tennessee – Sat, Nov 10, 3:30 PM ET – The Vols are getting 5 at home…AT ROCKYTOP against a basketball school. Let that sink in. Sorry Rain, The Cats cover.

Northwestern at #21 Iowa – Sat, Nov 10, 3:30 PM ET – Northwestern is getting 10 at the Hawkeyes. The Cats cover.

#8 Washington State at Colorado – Sat, Nov 10, 3:30 PM ET – Cougars are giving 6 and beat this spread.

#24 Auburn at #5 Georgia – Sat, Nov 10, 7:00 PM ET – War Eagle is getting 14 on the road and the Bulldogs cover.

#19 Texas at Texas Tech – Sat, Nov 10, 7:30 PM ET – Texas is giving 1.5 at Tech…Texas beats this.

#2 Clemson at #17 Boston College – Sat, Nov 10, 8:00 PM ET – Clemson is giving 20 and beat this spread.

10 games at $100 each.

The Dems take the House, therefore we will get the same thing from them this two years as last, nothing. The tax cuts are law and de-regulation continues at the Agency level. Congress made themselves moot in the last two years, nothing much will change here. Now they have to negotiate with Donald Trump and Cocaine Mitch. Good luck with that, Nancy.

The GOP gains 3 in the Senate, Cocaine Mitch can get Judges and Cabinet through at will now.

Hillary is not President.

The Dems ran a bunch of stealth ‘centrist’ candidates again who look sane and look like old-school Dems, some of them even served (sort of) in the Military. Being in the JAG does not count, sorry. These fakes will vote lock step with Pelosi and a few will be one term Congressmen for that. So now the focus goes on the Dems in the House. This is a very bad situation for them. They have no real power as Congress quit working and abrogated their duties to the Executive a few years ago. Two years of histrionics and spasmodic Trump Derangement Syndrome to placate their base will cost them both the House and the Presidency in 2020. They won’t be able to fulfill any of their promises to their communist base; there will be no impeachment, de-regulation will continue, investigations will go nowhere…Piss off Trump and he might de-classify ALL OF IT.

Election 2018 Open Thread #1…A Pre-Game Cigar

Here we go! Election 2018. Two years ago at this time Dorian and Mrs Coldwarrior and I were sitting on the deck having a few pre-election drinks. I assured both of them that Trump has this in the bag. You know, I am happy to have made that prediction quite publicly on Day One of his candidacy and been 100% right. Those of us who backed him took abuse not only from the left, which is to be expected, but we took abuse from our so called ‘friends’ who were supposedly on our own side. Yes, the Blogmocracy pretty much imploded over Trump and I say GOOD! The truths that were revealed in the 2016 election just on the right were well worth the consternation and frustration…ALL was revealed in 2016. Everyone everywhere had heir masks ripped from their faces and true intention, thoughts, and attitudes were revealed all across the right.

What do the Nevertrumpers have now? Nothing. Nothing. Trump has been more Conservative and successful than they could ever manage because they were all talk and no action and ignorant of basic economics, the fundamentals of foreign policy, and what the massive middle class wanted. Was this on purpose or was this simple ignorance? I’ll leave that to the reader to decide.

On to the important stuff, The Cigar 🙂
Tonight I am on the deck late after a few tough shifts up north and now two days off. On the drive home I decided that the cigar on the deck would be a Gran Toro (6″ x 52/64th) Undercrown Liga Privada from Esteli, Nicaragua by way of NYC: Drew Estates (please read their great story here). This cigar is one of my favorites and it looks great in the humidor.

In early 2009 we asked our torcedores to smoke less Liga Privada (Private Blend) cigars because they were leaving too few to be exported. This request was met with the disappointment you would expect, but rather than being disgruntled they responded by blending their own signature liga.

Incorporating many of the same rare tobaccos, but of different vintages and primings, the cigar they created was no mere replacement. Rather it is an exceptional smoking experience of uncompromising quality and flavor that deserves to be smoked by all.

It is always the master makers who are heralded, but the reality is that great cigars are the product of many talented people, most of whom toil in factories with no publicity ever. They are the uncelebrated heroes who make all of our lives more pleasurable with the cigars they craft. And therefore, it is with great pleasure that we are now sharing their factory floor creation with you as Undercrown, borne of our worker’s ingenuity, resourcefulness and passion for a great cigar.
Blend Summary:

Capa: Otapan Negro Ăšltimo Corte
Capote: T52 Connecticut River Valley Stalk Cut & Cured Habano
Tripa: Select Brazilian Mata Fina and Nicaraguan Cuban Seed

The Beer that I am having with this smoke is also a ‘Liga Privada’; Fat Beagle Brewery Darkstar Stout. I make a batch every year around this time and cork it in champagne bottles and let it rest in the wine cellar for a good few months. It’s a 20 year old recipe with an unbroken continual yeast line that has now evolved into it’s own ‘house’ thing.

I have no prediction for the election. But I did put $100 of Blogbux that the GOP keeps the house.
