The Osprey and I caught most of this on TV last Friday night…after all, we had to haul our a**es over to a common spot…in this case, my house. Osprey brought the goods and we proceeded to drink whenever McCain said:

• “Facts are stubborn things.”
• “My Friends.”
• “There you go again.”

Here is Part I of last Friday night’s GOP US Senate debate with McCain, JD, and Jim Deakin (whom I suspect is a Ronulan). If anyone wishes to add to this list, please feel free to post your additions here!

UPDATE: I’ve received two suggestions as we go to post….

• “I led this fight.”
• Everyone takes TWO DRINKS whenever he mentions Sarah Palin!

Wong: Cut Off Power to Illegals

Meet Barry Wong, Republican Candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission:

He’s got an idea which is, apparently, getting him into hot water: cutting off power and gas to Illegals:

“It is not a right. It is a service,” Barry Wong, candidate for the Arizona Corporation Commission, told The Arizona Republic.
The Republican candidate argues that the policy would be a cost-saving measure for consumers.
Though it would cost money for power companies to check immigration status, he said it would ultimately save money because power companies would not have to build new plants to serve the illegal immigrant community, presumably passing on that savings to consumers. His plan, if elected to the five-person commission, would be to require utilities to check immigration status.
“There is a cost ratepayers shouldn’t have to bear because of the illegal immigrant population,” he said, while acknowledging the idea would probably attract “criticism about human-rights violations.”

What Wong is doing is taking the effect of SB1070 to the next level. Look for said criticism from human rights groups in 5…4…3…2….

You Don’t Say…

WELL WELL WELL! Looky here at this three-year-old law on the books that’s just like SB1070!

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA (KOLD) – For the last three years, a county in Virginia has remained under the radar in the immigration debate even though it has a law almost identical to Arizona’s immigration law.
The ordinance in Prince William County was passed in 2007. It initially required police to check the status of detainees they suspected of being undocumented immigrants but one year later it was revised.
Officers now question all criminal suspects about their immigration status once an arrest is made.
In 2008, the University of Virginia conducted a survey to see what effects, if any, the Prince William County law had. It concluded initial fears about racial profiling did not happen.
It also show that schools saw a drop in English as a second language enrollment. There was also a drop in uninsured mothers giving birth and individuals turned over to immigration and customs enforcement.

Gee, what’s Президент Оба́ма and his minions going to do about this law? Are they going to go after Prince William County like they do with Arizona and any other states which may consider such legislation? The answer, should they formulate one, will be interesting indeed.

Blogmocracy in Action

Last Friday, April 23, 2010, Arizona Governor Brewer signed into law SB 1070 (pdf) which exactly mirrors United States Federal Law regarding the presence of illegal aliens in the United States. Essentially, SB 1070 made it illegal for a person to be in Arizona if that person is illegally in the United States of America. There is also a Fact Sheet.

In spite of the fact that the new law explicitly and deliberately states that racial profiling is not allowed, racists, liars, and ideologues all across the country are denigrating Arizona as racist and hate filled. These same racists, liars, and ideologues have started a boycott of The Grand Canyon State. I doubt that will be successful. This is a beautiful state. Call the Arizona Department of Tourism and let them know you support us.

The real victims of racism (up to and including the murder of a rancher near the border) in this situation are the citizens of the State of Arizona. Refried beans were smeared on the doors our our State House of Representatives and our State Senate. “BURN THIS RACIST STATE”, a clear call to violence and destruction, was painted on the sidewalk near our State Capital.

The pictures included here are all downloaded from the azcentral.com website. I use them to prove that many of the activists were bused in from Los Angeles. I show you the masks (think who else wears masks) and the raised fists (remember who did that?) and the hateful signs. I also show you pictures of the crowds (hundreds, not thousands).

I have preserved the picture number from azcentral in the name of each photo in the event you wish to find the original.
