How Climate Change caused the Bronze Age collapse

Around the time of the Trojan War circa 1200 BC, several advanced nations dominated the Middle East and Southeast Europe. The Egyptian Empire, Hittite Empire and Mycenaean Empires were the dominant powers in the region. Then out of nowhere mysterious circumstances led to the collapse of these Bronze Age civilizations. The Sea peoples appeared and began raiding these nations which led to a collapse of the trading systems. This in turn led to the total collapse of those Empires. Only Egypt survive and did so in a very weakened state. This was the first Dark Ages in the Mediterranean region an it would take another 400 years for civilization to recover from this blow.

1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed is a new book by Eric Cline lays the blame at what cause this sudden collapse of Bronze Age civilization. He blames a favorite bogey man for the Progressive, Climate Change. But before Al Gore and his crowd begins to celebrate this proof of climate change, there is just one big problem. There was no known industrialization back in the Bronze Age that caused the climate to change!

“Throughout the 21st century, climate-change impacts are projected to slow down economic growth, make poverty reduction more difficult, further erode food security, and prolong existing and create new poverty traps,” the new IPCC report says. The panel projects that these changes will cause conflict over land and resources, including water and food.

This has happened before.

According to archeologist Eric H. Cline in his new book 1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed, the great ancient civilizations of the Egyptians, the Hittites, the Mycenaens, the Canaanites, and the Cypriots in the Late Bronze Age may have fallen in large part due to climate change, nearly three millennia before mankind’s first industrial revolution.

Back in the second millennium B.C., civilized societies stretched from Mesopotamia though Egypt to Greece and Italy. These societies traded goods and personnel through an interconnected network, the New York Post’s Larry Getlen writes in a review of 1177 B.C. But each of these civilizations fell in the decades surrounding 1177 B.C. because of violent incursions from a group called the Sea Peoples, a marauding group thought to comprise six different sects, including the Philistines of Biblical lore.

Though many factors including “seismic disasters, . . .  internal rebellions, and ‘systems collapse;’” caused the end of these civilizations, Cline writes, climate change spurred droughts, which in turn caused famine, which may have led to the Sea Peoples to migrate, and to come into violent conflict with the peoples settled on the land they were trying to take. The ensuing wars weakened these once great civilizations, and they never rose to their previous prominence again.

What caused this change in climate is up to debate. One of the more likely causes was a meteor strike that radically altered the climate and caused the invasion of the Sea People. One thing for certain, it was not humans who caused this climate change event.

Obama: “We don’t have time for a meeting of the flat-Earth society”

ObamaClimate

Thanks to Glenn Greenwald’s crusade against the Obama Regime, some on the Left are turning against their once beloved god-king. His approval ratings have fallen becasue of these attacks from the Left. This has forced Obama to shift to the Left in an attempt to stop the bleeding. He has chosen Climate Change as the issue to throw red meat rhetoric to Progressives in order to win back their support. In a speech announcing his new regulations, Obama went on full demagogue mode. He compared anyone who opposes his enviornmentalism to members of the flat earth society.

President Obama angrily blasted climate change skeptics during his energy policy speech Tuesday at Georgetown University, saying he lacked “patience for anyone who denies that this problem is real.”

“We don’t have time for a meeting of the flat-Earth society,” Obama said. “Sticking your head in the sand might make you feel safer, but it’s not going to protect you from the coming storm.”

Earlier in his remarks, Obama said the “overwhelming judgement of science, of chemistry, of physics, and millions of measurements” put “to rest” questions about pollution affecting the environment.

“The planet is warming. Human activity is contributing to it,” Obama said.
The most demagogue part of the speech channels Ludwig Vanquioxte and Charles Johnson.

“We know that the costs of these events can be measured in lost lives and lost livelihoods.”

Billions will die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is pure political desperation on the part of Obama. The NSA scandal has cost him support of some of the Left and that is what is behind this shift towards Climate Change.

Before Republicans start crowing, Obama’s loss of support does not translate into support for them. Increasingly a growing number of Americans have had it with both parties.

As Obama’s numbers crumble, expect him to get more desperate and engage in demagogic language. Expect more of the “BILLIONS WILL DIE” rhetoric.

In the UK, Tallbloke, the blogger who broke the Climategate 2.0 emails on his blog Tallbloke’s Talkshop has had 2 laptops and a router seized by six detectives from the Metropolitan Police, the Norfolk Constabulary and the Computer Crime division.

He had an an inkling something was up the previous evening “when WordPress forwarded a notice from the U.S. Department of Justice.”

Watts Up With That has the notice and some excellent commentary. The most telling so far is from commenter Gail Combs:

You forget that one of the e-mails shows that the US Department of Energy “ordered” Jones to evade the FOIA requests.

The head of the Department of Energy at the time had just served as the US Ambassador to the United Nations prior to his appointment as Secretary of the Department of Energy.

This could be a very big CYA for the US government.

And someone has alerted Drudge. Let’s see if he picks it up.

Greens diss Al Gore’s latest Climate Rant

Al Gore seems to have gone too far even for the Environmentalists. His 24 hour climate change reality show is getting negative feedback from the Climate Change crowd. They describe the special is as an apocalyptic rant. Gore even takes on a messianic image as some global savior.

Former Vice President Al Gore 24 hour climate “reality” show is surprisingly facing strongly negative reviews from Gore’s fellow global warming activists and environmental allies. In addition, two German scientists ridiculed Gore for his “apocalyptic” tone and his “promise of salvation.”

Climate activist Bob Ward was tepid about Gore’s show. “One could complain that some of the presentations overstated the certainty and wrongly implied that individual weather events could be attributed to climate change,” lamented Ward. Ward is the Policy Director, for the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Mike Shanahan, of the International Institute for Environment and Development, bragged that he purposefully avoided watching Gore’s climate telethon.

“I actually avoided the Goreathon, and I guess that says something in itself,” Shanahan wrote. He added that a journalist sent him a text declaring: “Gore gets gold for most boring and least galvanizing talk on climate, ever…That, and possibly damaging.”

Shanahan was blunt in his opinion of Gore: “Climate Change needs a Gandhi or a Martin Luther King or a Mandela, and Al Gore is none of those.”

Al Gore has lost the Green crowd. He is now an object of ridicule, even on his own side. I’m sure Prince Charles and Charles Johnson loved AL Gore’s special.
