Blogmocracy In Action

Guest Post By: Delectable

Right now, there has been a huge brouhaha across the blogosphere as to whether to support the Tea Parties or not. Some say that, due to the scary images that were present at the Tea Parties, one should stay away from these events. Others say the Tea Parties should be embraced, as they are an action group, and have a mass mobilization.

I believe the Tea Parties obscure a larger question: should legitimate concerns about the Tea Parties justify supporting Obama? By that I mean, assuming the worst of the Tea Parties – does that mean we should focus our energies on debating or debunking these people?

I believe the following: we must always, no matter what, stand up for human rights and freedom. That is our platform, will always be our platform, and ultimately will win in the end. It is the human drive for freedom that unites the vast majority of mankind. But we cannot lose sight of the fact that, whether we want to support the Tea Parties or not, there are vast and legitimate grievances against Obama, and that impact upon basic freedoms and human rights. Fright over the Tea Parties should not lead to reactions of Obama support.

I have started to refer to Obama as the anti-human rights presidency, and it is his anti-human rights stance that has me most upset. Why is he anti-human rights? The following is just a partial list of his anti-human rights actions:

  • He has kowtowed to the United Nations (UN), increasing funding for this anti-human rights institution, and joining the Human Rights Council.
  • He has pressured Israel to give up land considered vital to its security in exchange for literally nothing – suicide. He has abdicated previous agreements under the Bush administration, and exclusively pressured Israel (not the Arab states) for concessions.
  • He has worked to ensure Iran will go nuclear by blocking sanctions against Iran. He referred to Khamenei as the “supreme leader” and agreed to talks with no preconditions from the USA, but accepting all of Khamenei’s preconditions. He has provided little even rhetorical support to the demonstrators.
  • He gave a speech in Cairo that either confused what Zakat really means (or he didn’t, in which case, we are really in trouble), claimed Israel existed due to the Holocaust, compared the Holocaust to the so-called ‘naqba’ of ‘Palestinians’, and claimed it was a ‘human rights violation’ for Muslim women to not wear the hijab. (!)
  • He has sold Honduras down the river. This is an American ally that prevented a coup by an anti-American Chavez-lackey, and instead of supporting Honduras, we have taken the side of Chavez. (!)
  • He bowed to the Saudi king, and completely gave in to Putin.
  • He has gone on a worldwide “America apology” tour, and refused to acknowledge that Islamists actually were the caused for maybe SOME American action
  • He has pushed for Turkey to join the EU (none of his concern!), despite the Islamist leadership of Turkey.
  • He has done nothing concerning Sudan.
  • He has not recognized the Armenian genocide, despite claims he would have.

These are the foreign policy clear stances on the side of anti-freedom that Obama has taken. He in fact is the most anti-human rights president the United States has had in recent memory.

There are some on the ‘right’ that appear to be linked with the Pat Buchanan/paleocon crowd. And those people certainly should be debated/countered/not supported. There are others on the ‘right’ that have descended into pure hysteria. Moreover, some of the items I listed are items Bush was partially responsible for.

But none of this whatsoever should stop people of good conscience from speaking out and saying that Obama is an anti-human rights president.

It is incumbent upon clear-thinking people to stand up against those who refuse to acknowledge we have basic human rights, enshrined in the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, and United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, and we will not stand idly by as these rights are trampled upon.

I believe we should declare that the reason we do not support Obama is that he is an anti-human rights president.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
