Blogmocracy in Action

Guest Blogger: Kirly

Last Friday, April 23, 2010, Arizona Governor Brewer signed into law SB 1070 (pdf) which exactly mirrors United States Federal Law regarding the presence of illegal aliens in the United States. Essentially, SB 1070 made it illegal for a person to be in Arizona if that person is illegally in the United States of America. There is also a Fact Sheet.

In spite of the fact that the new law explicitly and deliberately states that racial profiling is not allowed, racists, liars, and ideologues all across the country are denigrating Arizona as racist and hate filled. These same racists, liars, and ideologues have started a boycott of The Grand Canyon State. I doubt that will be successful. This is a beautiful state. Call the Arizona Department of Tourism and let them know you support us.

The real victims of racism (up to and including the murder of a rancher near the border) in this situation are the citizens of the State of Arizona. Refried beans were smeared on the doors our our State House of Representatives and our State Senate. “BURN THIS RACIST STATE”, a clear call to violence and destruction, was painted on the sidewalk near our State Capital.

The pictures included here are all downloaded from the azcentral.com website. I use them to prove that many of the activists were bused in from Los Angeles. I show you the masks (think who else wears masks) and the raised fists (remember who did that?) and the hateful signs. I also show you pictures of the crowds (hundreds, not thousands).

I have preserved the picture number from azcentral in the name of each photo in the event you wish to find the original.

Truths We Dare Not Speak

Victor Davis Hanson – whose columns used to be a staple on another blog (but not any more) – cuts through the dogma, political correctness, and pseudo intellectual claptrap to speak truth to issues that too many people are afraid to confront. Immigration, Middle East, Iraq,  Ivy League education, affirmative action etc. are all subjects where the accepted mantra should no longer go unchallenged. I particularly enjoyed his take down of the Middle East as being the most “important” crisis in the world.

by Victor Davis Hanson

There are a number of things we simply no longer talk about. The silence is partly due to intellectual laziness. Or maybe it is because of political correctness—or even attributable to ignorance and the absence of curiosity.

In no particular order, I list five propositions that simply have become taboo.

1). Illegal Immigration and California.

There are dozens of recent exposés on the California mess. The “I accuse” themes—all quite accurate—are well known.

————————————————–

2) Iraq.

We are tired of Iraq and have Trotskyized it out of our existence, given the huge cost and 4,000 dead.

But consider: not a single America died in Iraq in December (38 murdered in Chicago during that period); three have been lost this month (24 murdered so far this month in Chicago).

Some random thoughts. The surge was a brilliant success.

A Harry Reid (“the war is lost”) or Barack Obama (out of Iraq by March 2008 and the surge “is not working”) have never subsequently suggested that they were wrong at a time when our troops desperately were trying against all odds to save the fragile country.

————————————————–

3) Affirmative Action.

The concept was noble, but now antiquated and mostly absurd. It requires the logic of the Old Confederacy to determine racial purity among the intermarried citizenry. Jet-black Punjabis get no preferences. Light-skinned Mexican-Americans of the fourth-generation claim privilege. Poor whites from Tulare don’t rank. The children of black dentists do. I see very little logic here.

Asians? We both claim them as minorities, and yet we discriminate against them at the University of California admissions process on the basis of their own superior achievement.

————————————————–

4) The Ivy League is a Naked Emperor.

By Ivy League I do not mean just Harvard, Princeton, and Yale, but the entire concept of high-priced elite schools like a Stanford, Duke, or Columbia as well. We know a BA from such institutions does not ipso facto any longer, as it once may well have, guarantee knowledge or competence. We know the race/class/gender craze has watered down the curriculum, and ensured therapy and empathy trump recall of facts and adherence to the inductive method.

————————————————–

5) The “Middle East” is a Fraud

Why do we beat ourselves up over Israel and the Palestinians? Why not occupied Cyprus? Or the Kuriles? Or South Ossetia? Or the divided city of Nicosia?  Is there a “Falklands Question”?

Why are not Germans blowing themselves up in Gdansk, the former East Prussia, the Alsace, or old Silesia to recover “lost” land?

Were there no Israeli-Arab wars before the “occupation” of 1967? Does anyone think that, should the West Bank simply take a 30-year break from the violence, emulate Western business and government, draw in Gulf capital, a few thousands acres here or there would then be still be relevant?

Why Hispanics should oppose Illegal Immigration

Good morning Blogmocracy Netizens! I hope everyone slept well and is ready for the new day!

For too long, the Progressive media has made it seem there is a monolithic support for Illegal Immigrants in the Hispanic Community. This is not the case. In fact, many Hispanics are just as opposed to illegal immigration. However, the Progressives call us traitors and ashamed of being Hispanic. As you all know I am very proud of my heritage, so that argument is racist in it’s own right. Who are these Non Hispanic Progressives to tell me and other Rightwing Hispanics what we should think? It is obvious. Progressives are racists!

As the immigration reform debate reboots over the next several weeks — prompted by the introduction of a new bill by Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) with the apparent blessing of the White House — the nation’s 49 million Latinos will once again find themselves under scrutiny.

Because the majority of the current wave of immigrants to the United States — both legal and illegal — come from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Brazil, and other Latin American countries, some Americans are apt to question the loyalties of U.S.-born Latinos, accusing them of being more sympathetic to the foreign visitors than to their own country or fellow citizens.

It’s not right, but nor is it new. With the arrival of every immigrant group to these shores for the last 220 years — from the Germans, Irish, and Italians to the Chinese, Jews, and Greeks — there have been similar questions about U.S. citizens with those ethnic roots. History shows those concerns were largely unfounded and based more on prejudice than reason.

The media perception of a Pro-Illegal view is aided by the treacherous Progressive organization LA Raza (The Race). The name of this vile organization alone is a joke. There is no Hispanic Race, instead Hispanics are formed from various people. Iberian Hispanics are a combination of Celts, Italians, Goths, Gypsies and Jews. In Latin America Iberians mixed with Natives, Africans, Irish, Italians (again), Lebanese (Like me) and Germans. So the whole notion of a Hispanic race is nonsense.  La Raza is a Progressive front group to keep Hispanics as serfs to their elitist masters.

Any sane Hispanic will oppose Illegal Immigration on just fairness alone. Why should a Argentine doctor, Colombian businessman or a Chilean Investment banker have to wait 8-12 years before they are issued a visa, however a Mexican or Guatemalan Peasant who broke the law will be given citizenship? This is not fair and a slap in the face to the majority of Hispanics who came here legally.

Aliens Attack!

An Arizona man is being sued by 16 Illegal Aliens who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol, he said, after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home.

His Cross Rail Ranch near Douglas, Ariz., is known by federal and county law enforcement authorities as “the avenue of choice” for immigrants seeking to enter the United States illegally.

Trial continues Monday in the federal lawsuit, which seeks $32 million in actual and punitive damages for civil rights violations, the infliction of emotional distress and other crimes. Also named are Mr. Barnett’s wife, Barbara, his brother, Donald, and Larry Dever, sheriff in Cochise County, Ariz., where the Barnetts live. The civil trial is expected to continue until Friday.

The lawsuit is based on a March 7, 2004, incident in a dry wash on the 22,000-acre ranch, when he approached a group of illegal immigrants while carrying a gun and accompanied by a large dog.

Attorneys for the immigrants – five women and 11 men who were trying to cross illegally into the United States – have accused Mr. Barnett of holding the group captive at gunpoint, threatening to turn his dog loose on them and saying he would shoot anyone who tried to escape.

The immigrants are represented at trial by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), which also charged that Sheriff Dever did nothing to prevent Mr. Barnett from holding their clients at “gunpoint, yelling obscenities at them and kicking one of the women.”

In the lawsuit, MALDEF said Mr. Barnett approached the group as the immigrants moved through his property, and that he was carrying a pistol and threatening them in English and Spanish. At one point, it said, Mr. Barnett’s dog barked at several of the women and he yelled at them in Spanish, “My dog is hungry and he’s hungry for buttocks.”

The lawsuit said he then called his wife and two Border Patrol agents arrived at the site. It also said Mr. Barnett acknowledged that he had turned over 12,000 illegal immigrants to the Border Patrol since 1998.
