Genesis & America’s Soul; Two Great Reasons To Support Israel

On April 20, Dennis Prager published a wonderful article in National Review Online regarding the present state of affairs regarding the U.S./Israel relationship and why “there is nothing to gain, and America’s soul to lose, by weakening or even seeming to weaken our support for Israel.”

Any explanation I could give would not do the actual article any justice so I will let Dennis speak for himself.  The entire article is good, but the following are some quotes which I believe were the most appropriate for this Friday afternoon.

There is a fifth reason tens of millions of Americans, including many conservative commentators, support Israel and worry about America as American support for Israel wanes. To the Left in America and around the world, this reason is dangerous nonsense. But for a vast number of America’s Christians, for many Jews, and even many non-religious conservatives, it is deeper than any military or political reason. The reason is based on a verse in Genesis in which God, referring to the Jewish people, says to Abraham: “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.”

One need not be a Jew or Christian or even believe in God to appreciate that this verse is as accurate a prediction as humanity has ever been given by the ancient world. The Jewish people have suffered longer and more horribly than any other living people. But they are still around. Its historic enemies are all gone. Those that cursed the Jews were indeed cursed.

And those who blessed the Jews were indeed blessed. The most blessed country for over 200 years has been the United States. It has also been the most blessed place Jews have ever lived in. Is this a coincidence? Many of us think not.

Those who curse the Jews still seem to be cursed. The most benighted civilization today is the Arab world. One could make a plausible case that the Arab world’s preoccupation with Jew-hatred and destroying Israel is a decisive factor in its failure to progress. The day the Arab world makes peace with the existence of the tiny Jewish state in its midst, the Arab world will begin its ascent.

The converse is what worries tens of millions of Americans — the day America abandons Israel, America will begin its descent.

Koran Reinforces Jewish Claims To The Land of Israel

A new book by author Lowell Gallin titled “Cracking the Qur’an Code” uses the koran to provide proof that even Islamic doctrine affirms G-d’s three covenants with Israel, involving the Land, the Torah and the People.

The book is based on the teachings of Dr. Asher Eder of Jerusalem and Sheikh Abdul Hadi Palazzi of Rome, both of whom co-founded and co-chair the Islam-Israel Fellowship of the Root and Branch Association, Ltd.“Let this book play an important role in letting people stand against jihad, the murder of innocent people and Holocaust denial,” says journalist Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, who faces charges of sedition and the like in his native Bangladesh for his pro-Jewish work.  He authored a book last year entitled Inside Madrassa, in which he provides extensive and little-known information on education in madrassas [Moslem schools], the Jihadist orientation, hate speech and radical Islam taught there.

The book shows how the Deity in the Qur’an commands Muslims to honor His three covenants with Israel, concerning the Land, Torah and People.  The first chapter of the book’s Section Three, for instance, provides 103 pages of quotes and commentaries from the Qur’an affirming the Divine land covenant with Israel.

Verse 137 of Sura 7, for instance, states, “We enabled the oppressed people [Israel] to inherit the land, east and west, and we blessed it. The blessed commands of your Lord were thus fulfilled for the Children of Israel, to reward them for their steadfastness, and we annihilated the works of Pharaoh and his people and everything they harvested.”

Author Gallin provides a translation of this verse by Professor Abdullah Yusuf Ali, with Gallin’s own explanatory notes in brackets: “And We [the Lord] made a people [Children of Israel] considered weak (and of no account) inheritors of lands in both East and West [east and west banks of the Jordan], lands whereon We sent down Our blessings.  The fair promise of thy [Muhammad’s and Muslims’] Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel, because they had patience and constancy, and We leveled to the ground the great Works and fine buildings which Pharaoh and his people [Egyptians] erected (with such pride)”.

Uh oh!  Something tells me that Shariff don’t like it.

And as if that weren’t enough for the Mohamadians; Palestinian Zionist Organization is Founded

Statements on the new website include warnings that a new PA state, if it were to arise, would “become the most terrorist state in the world… The Palestinians don’t believe in a two-state solution; they only believe in a one-state solution – a land called Palestine [which] does not involve any Jewishness.”

Issa, who now lives in the United States, explains that the international community is blind “to what’s truly going on in this Middle East conflict. [I hope] to make a difference by shining a different kind of light on the Palestinian-Israeli situation.”

Today Is Israel Independance Day!

Today, the 5th of Ayar on the Jewish calendar, is Israel Independence Day; a day when we commemorate nothing less than a modern-day miracle.   After 2000 years of grueling exile, the Jewish people once again were a free people in their own land.

Israel; a tiny nation besieged by her Arab/Muslim neighbors even before its founding has made the barren desert bloom and continues to succeed against all odds.

As Traditional Allies Refuse To Attend Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit, Widening Rifts Are Exposed

by WrathofG-d ( 107 Comments › )

Much-to-do has been made of Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision not to attend the ‘nuclear security summit’ being held by President Obama.  (Israel sent an intelligence minister instead)  What has been remarkably under reported however is that Bibi is not the only  traditionally key U.S. ally not to be attending or feeling a coldness towards the United States as a result of President Obama’s repeated humiliation of America’s traditional allies.  Among others, Britain, Australia and Saudi Arabia also stayed home. (England is sending Foreign Secretary David Miliband).

Specifically, there is speculation that the refusal to attend by Great Britain’s Prime Minister (although they used the official excuse of needing time to campaign) is more evidence of a widening rift created by President Obama between the two traditional allies’ once special relationship.

I suspect there is far more to it than mere concern over missing a day or two on the election trail. This is almost certainly payback for Obama’s shoddy treatment of the Prime Minister during his previous two trips to the US. It is important not to underestimate the degree to which Brown was utterly humiliated when he went to the White House in March last year and was denied the courtesy of an official press conference or an official dinner with the president. To add insult to injury, Brown was made a laughingstock internationally when it was revealed the president had given him a derisive gift of 25 DVDs. In September, more embarrassment was to follow when Brown traveled to New York to attend the UN General Assembly, with President Obama declining to meet with his British counterpart after no less than five official requests.

There is certainly no love lost between the two leaders, and Brown’s decision to stay away from Washington has all the hallmarks of a significant transatlantic spat…

Although practically unreported, President Obama seems to be chasing our traditional allies away and realigning America with the totalitarian dictators of the world at a blistering pace. This destruction of traditional alliances however doesn’t only apply to Israel and Great Britain.

As remarkable as it is, the fact that neither British Prime Minister Gordon Brown nor Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are attending President Obama’s nuclear security summit in Washington Monday and Tuesday is not altogether surprising.

Relations with both countries — Israel in particular — have grown strained under Obama. Combined with Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s recent defiance of the administration, questions are growing about the president’s ability to maintain important relationships.

“It is a curious state of affairs when relations with our major democratic allies are all wobbly at once,” said Michael Green, a former foreign policy adviser to President George W. Bush, who also listed Japan and South Korea as traditional allies whose relationships with the U.S. have frayed under Obama.

The president’s critics, many of them from the Bush administration, say the summit absences — heads of state from Australia and Saudia Arabia also are not attending — are the most glaring examples of a floundering foreign policy that treats rivals and enemies better than friends.

“He seems to want to engage rivals, even enemies, more than spend time with friends and allies,” said David Kramer, a top State Department official in the Bush administration.

Elliot Abrams, another former top Bush administration foreign policy adviser, said the current White House was guilty of “diplomatic malpractice.”

“In his treatment of Karzai and Netanyahu, the president has shown an odd understanding of what it means to be a U.S. ally. Surely it should mean that inevitable disagreements are handled privately whenever possible. Surely it should mean avoiding steps that seek to weaken or humiliate a foreign leader,” Abrams said.

Though relations with Karzai grew strained at the end of the Bush administration, the Obama administration’s relationship with the Afghan president — the leader of the country that is currently home to the biggest concentration of U.S. military forces on the planet — has been a soap opera.

During Obama’s trip to Kabul just two weeks ago, he did not praise Karzai and his top officials made clear he was there to put pressure on the Afghan president to do a better job of governance and rooting out corruption.

Karzai responded by denouncing Western interference in last summer’s elections and by talking of joining the Taliban himself.

“Surely we should be treating [Karzai and Netanyahu] better than we treat enemies like [Syrian President] Bashar al-Asad or [Venezuelan President Hugo] Chavez, or the Russian and Chinese leaders, who if not enemies are certainly not friends,” Abrams said.

Even major European leaders got meetings with Obama this week only at the last minute. German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s one-on-one meeting with Obama was scheduled for Tuesday late on Sunday, only after meetings with the leaders of India, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Pakistan, Nigeria, China, Jordan, Malaysia, Ukraine, Armenia and Turkey.
