The U.S. Army-Europe Band and the Serbian Ministry of Defense Orchestra Perform Together

By Julia Gorin May 13th 2011 03:03:48 AM

In this video you can see the two groups rehearsing together for a performance this Friday (today). The introduction reads:

The U.S. Army Europe Band and the Serbian Ministry of Defense Orchestra rehearse Dmitri Shostakovich’s Serbian Festive Overture at the Central Army Hall in Belgrade, Serbia, 9 May 2011. This is a joint rehearsal in preparation for the two joint concerts to be performed at the Topcider on 11 May 2011 and the National Theater in Belgrade on 13 May 2011.

And then the U.S. will attack Serbia anyway.

I wonder if the orchestras will be playing as it does, providing the backdrop of classical music as during Hitler’s time.

(Disclaimer: The impending attack to subdue northern Mitrovica may be averted, or at least postponed, as talk of a possible land swap is again on the table: Presevo mayor Ragmi Mustafa last week said that three southern Serbian municipalities “have to” join Kosovo, and so northern Kosovo may be “given” to Serbia. I don’t know if he checked with the Pristina/Washington authorities on that one, but in other words: To keep a fraction of the land being stolen from it, Serbia has to give up more land.)

Will these betrayals never end?

Ancient Aliens:The Hugo Chavez Edition

The Ancient Alien theory has a prominent believer. None other that South American 3rd World Liberation Liberation thug, Hugo Chavez. He makes the claim that there was once was life on Mars. Hugo then claims that life on that planet was destroyed due to Capitalism and Imperialism.

CARACAS (Reuters) – Capitalism may be to blame for the lack of life on the planet Mars, Venezuela’s socialist President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday.

“I have always said, heard, that it would not be strange that there had been civilization on Mars, but maybe capitalism arrived there, imperialism arrived and finished off the planet,” Chavez said in speech to mark World Water Day.

Read the rest: Chavez says capitalism may have ended life on Mars

Hugo Chavez doesn’t explain where he got this information of Capitalism and Imperialism arriving on Mars. Who brought it there and where did the Martians go? Hugo doesn’t explain his Ancient Alien capitalism theory. Maybe he will get a History Chanel special explaining his theory.

In the meantime, Hugo Chavez has another song to entertain us with.

Here’s another song he does.

I know an unemployed Californian Jazz guitarist Hugo can hire to help him with songs.

Update: Here is another clip of Chavez singing for a crowd on Christmas Eve.

Hugo, please hire the unemployed California Jazz Guitarist!

Happy St. Patrick’s Night!

There are a couple of things right with that photo, but there are a lot of things wrong; the former made me smirk while the latter made me cringe (suck it in, Johnny Wannabe). BTW, Johnny Ramone became a Republican when he discovered that his relatives voted for JFK based on Kennedy’s good looks alone.

As THE  seminal punk band of the 70s, The Ramones brought 3-chord garage band rock n’ roll back to the forefront of pop music, a venue that was overrun with over-produced country-rock, electronic theatrical garbage and big-hair-glam-rock bands.

While most of the country was oohing and aahing to The Eagles and Bruce Stringbean, ELO and EL&P,  and um, ah *puke* Disco) these guys were kicking the gong at CBGBs, an obscure bar in NYC’s skid row, known as  The Bowery.

Meanwhile the TV Trash pundits are guffawing that Eric Clapton went to a laundromat to –get this– wash his clothes. I really don’t know where I’m going with this babblethread. Kinda lost my train of thought, but don’t worry, we’re not derailed, because rolling on down the line comes the Big Ugly Wheels of The Overnight Open Thread.
