Why People Didn’t Trust Obama to Address Their Kids

I was going to write a longer post about this earlier today, but Ace over at Ace of Spades HQ already covered it,

A very big part of the resistance to this speech is the double standard. And this is important, and not mere grousing. All conservatives know that there would not only be an opt-out if, say, President Bush the Younger had given this speech, but that it would barley have been shown at all in the first place.

The sensitivities of liberal parents would have been respected. Not just respected — those sensitivities would have been dominant, blocking out coverage except for in a small fraction of schools.

On the other hand — Obama.

Now, what the liberal/governmental establishment wants to tell us here is that we are second class citizens. We have some political rights, but not nearly the full panoply of rights enjoyed by liberals.

And we reject that.

We. Reject. That.

And we’re not “crazy” or “stupid” to do so. We are simply tired of the liberal/bureaucratic establishment treating us like second-class citizens of no importance and no account, and of arrogantly treating us as children in constant need of their sage wisdom, lecturing, and hectoring.

Not having it.

We can’t stop the liberal/bureaucratic establishment from attempting to treat us like sub-citizens. But we sure the hell can refuse to endorse that attempted classification by acquiescing to it.

Compare… Universities receiving federal funds forbidding military recruiters on campus, in direct violation of (IIRC) the Solomon Amendment.

Oh, that’s different. Liberal sensibilities are offended here, so they’re allowed to break the law and continue receiving their federal dollars.

But if the DoE spreads “preparatory materials” which include the suggestion that students write letters to themselves as to how they can “help the President” (not help America; not help themselves or their families; help the president, this president), that’s fine and dandy.

This president created a cult of personality which infected a substantial number of adults as it is. And conservatives are bit reluctant to see that cult of personality imposed on impressionable children? Their own children?

Stupid? Crazy?

How about we, like liberals, jealously guard our rights and wish to be free from the coercive power of the state?

Oh, right — dissent is only patriotic when liberals are dissenting.

Exactly.  The point to all this is not that people thought Obama was going to hypnotise their kids and turn them into zombies or robots or anything.  It’s simply the principle of the matter.  Why do we need the President lecturing our kids, anywise?  PARENTS are the ones who should be determining the course of their childrens’ lives, not the President.  And we certainly don’t need schools training our kids on how we can help “the President.”   The President’s “values” are no better than anyone else’s, and are in fact worse than most.  There’s no reason why parents should be considered “stupid” for not wanting him to impart those values to their kids.

Face it – there’s just something more than a little bit creepy about President Obama.  He’s the kind of guy that I’d teach my kids not to take candy from.  No robotics.  No zombification.  Just the fact that he’s odd.  And manipulative.  And untrustworthy.  And lies in a bald-faced manner.

For what it’s worth, the actual speech was plain vanilla.  My main qualm with what Obama actually said is how useless it really was.  We need to have a nationwide Presidential address to tell kids to not drop out of school?  To study hard?  To listen to what adults in authority say?   Great.  People either already have that covered, or they don’t.  This is the same thing Bill Cosby’s been telling inner city kids for years.   If education is so important, than stop wasting the kids’ time and let them get back to learning how to recycle and put condoms on bananas and all the other stuff they’re covering in the publik skools.

Sorry lefties, the issue isn’t paranoia, but it IS about trust.  And Obama simply hasn’t earned it.

Obama Administration Funding Projects “Towards The Establishment of Independent Palestinian State”

Obama HeadscarfThe United States is funding a Palestinian Authority project to place non-Hebrew road signs throughout Judea and Samaria.  The PA plans to implement it in exclusively Israeli-controlled areas as well.

The project is part of American aid “towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,” as a top official of USAID (United States Agency for International Development) in the PA, Howard Sumka, told the Al-Hayat Arabic daily.

The project was announced by PA transportation minister Dr. Saadi Alkaranz. Correspondent Haggai Huberman reports that it is the first of its kind since Jordan lost control of the area when it attacked Israel during the 1967 Six Day War.  All roads and localities will appear in Arabic and English on the new signs; Hebrew will not appear.

Minister Alkaranz said, “This project is included in the government’s plans to lay the foundations for the establishment of a Palestinian state whose capital is Jerusalem.” He explained that the signs will not include the names of any Jewish locations in the region.

{The Article}

Although the writing on roadsigns might sound like a non-issue, it has become a very contentious issue in the Arab/Israel conflict recently.  Not too long ago, Israeli Transportation Minister, Yisrael Katz  suggested that although all the roadsigns in Israel will continue to be in Hebrew, and Arabic (and English), they will use the Hebrew names for Israeli cities.  Thus, instead of now where the signs refer to Jerusalem as “Jerusalem” in English, “Yerusahlaim” in Hebrew, and “Al-Quds” in Arabic, they will all read “Yerusalaim” but be written in all three languages.   This caused an outpouring of all hell from the Israeli-Arabs,  and Muslim/Arab world with claims of racism, ethnic cleansing, etc.  Dispite this, the PLO/PA plan, funded by the U.S. (ie: your tax dollars) is to only use Arabic!

We also should not ignore the scope, message, and impact of this plan.  The project will effect EVERY area of Judea & Samaria, creates facts on the ground, impact the daily lives of the Arabs in Judea & Samaria, and interfere directly with Israeli sovereignty.  This is all without getting into how it is premature, and in violation of the principles, requirements we have insisted upon before such actions could be taken.  (see Road Map, Annapolis, Oslo, Camp David…)  As we all know, this hasn’t stopped the Obama administration from holding Israel to the previous agreements. (ie: removing roadblocks, giving the PLO soverignty, and “settlements”)

Hopefully it is accidental, but the Obama Administration is participating in history revisionism, racism, and ethnic cleansing.  The Obama administration seems to be making the same mistakes as the Bush administration did with the “Disengagement”, and supporting an outcome that is inherently Anti-Semitic.   By creating these “Arab only” facts on the ground, the Obama administration is wiping the historic Jewish connection to Judea & Samaria out of the history books, and supporting the forced exclusion of Jews from a future Palestine, and bolstering the Arab claim that a future Palestine shoudl be Judenrein.

Passionate Republicanism Working? Obama’s Approval Rating At Greatest Low

We have heard from David Frum, and other talking heads lately that the passionate Republicanism of Glenn Beck, and Mark Levin, and the supposed Republican Party shift toward “pure Conservatism” is going to ensure that the Democrats have a complete win in 2010.  They would suggest that the Republican party take a more liberal, and “centrist” stance to find common ground with the Hyper-Liberals now in power.

The only problem is that this tactic of passionate Conservatism, and Republican partisanship is working!

Rasmussen reports that Obama’s approval rating has hit a new low at -11:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 30% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11.  (see trends).

Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That’s the lowest level of total approval yet measured for Obama. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove…As for those not affiliated with either major party, 66% disapprove. See other recent demographic highlights from the tracking polls.

The Democrat Party controlled Congress is doing even worse:

Twenty-nine percent (29%) are confident that Congress knows what it’s doing when it comes to the economy. If Americans could vote to keep or replace the entire Congress, 57% would throw out all the legislators and start over again. Just 25% would vote to keep the Congress.
