“The Shining” was one of the creepiest movies ever made. It aired cable one night in the early 80s and I watched it alone in the dark in an empty house. Spooked me, especially the ending — the soundtrack changed to 1930s ballroom music. The camera slowly panned to the photo on a wall in The Overlook Hotel and focused on the guy at lower left – JACK!
It was Jack Nicholson’s greatest performance, IMO, and there’s no point to this commentary at all except as an introduction for a possessed Overnight Open Thread.
