That image was kindly provided by our own Snork. Although it’s mean and green and My Little Cthulu means something to someone,  I never read C.S. Lewis’ “Chronicles of Narnia.” any of H.P. Lovecraft’s stuff.

Years ago, our daughters Bunkessa and Bunkarina opted out of the little plastic foofoo horses with pink hairy foreheads, manes and tails and wisely chose the path of barbering Barbies before they came up with the traditional game of BarbieBall.

BarbieBall is a lot like Hackysack, except with goals. It’s traditionally played sitting down in a narrow hallway with the bathroom and bedroom doors closed, and you have to wear socks with animals on them. That’s really all you need to know about the game as it’s self explanatory once the game starts. You can use hands and feet to attack or to protect your goal. Oh, almost forgot. You have to remove the rubber Barbiehead from her torso prior to play.

[Note: there are NO bathroom breaks allowed during play, otherwise it’s a forfeit for the player who gives into the pressure of the bladder. This makes it a physical game as well as a psychological one.]

After all, when you’re a jet you’re a jet all the way, so let’s have an Overnight Open Thread instead.

The Essence of the Correlation Tool

Statistical analysis always fascinated me because you can do anything you want to prove any point.  This example shows how any competent blog monitor can identify sock puppets.

The chart shows that a single poster has up to 16 socks on one person’s blog, and the size of the pyramid functions identify which socks are used the most. In this case, the largest purple pyramid is the puppet master. Note that it hits the tan hexagon, thus giving away the sock owner’s true identity.

Once identified, the blog monitor has some choices. He/she can delete the prime feed, and deal with the other 15 socks if and when they become nuisances, or he/she may choose to vaporize all socks at once.

Note that the correlator tools is not without flaws. In the example above, all of the blue-colored pyramids are NOT controlled by the previously identified sock master, and the blog monitor may inadvertently delete regular non-posting loyal readers who are more likely to hit the tip jar than others.

On the other hand, those with the most socks win, and often enjoy an Overnight Open Thread.

President Jug Head

I don’t know about you, but whenever our Fearless Leader speaks, I look around and imagine that he looks like something in our kitchen, like the water cooler. Somehow it makes it all better, because I know that our water cooler has no control over my life.

It amazes me that on 27 May 2010, the leader of the free world and the President of the greatest nation on earth had the audacity to utter these words:

“I mean, we’re still years off and some technological breakthroughs away from being able to operate on purely a clean-energy grid.

During that time, we’re going to be using oil. And to the extent that we’re using oil, it makes sense for us to develop our oil and natural gas resources here in the United States and not simply rely on imports.

That’s important for our economy. That’s important for economic growth. So the overall framework — which is to say, domestic oil production should be part of our overall energy mix — I think continues to be the right one.”

Although I completely agree with him on that, his comments came only minutes after he announced a moratorium on all domestic oil exploration and drilling. Unsurprisingly, his adoring media let him off the hook instead of calling him on it:

Of course, nobody in the Press Corpse [sic -Obama’s own pronunciation] wants to be the recipient of one of these not-so-subtle gestures from President Jug Head:

One thing Fearless Leader knows is the art of subtle nuance.

If he were serious, he’d open up ANWR immediately and forge a cartel with Canada and Mexico (and perhaps other democratic countries in South America) to reduce/eliminate our trade with OPEC. Now THAT would be a legacy he could be proud of.

Unfortunately, my water cooler can’t do it, so let’s have an Overnight Open Thread.
