Don Van Vliet passed away yesterday, succumbing to multiple sclerosis at the age of 69.
Although his music was often hard on the ears, his artwork hard on the eyes, he was the embodiment of eccentricity. Much of his character stemmed from his childhood; his parents apparently left him unrestrained, left him to do whatever he wanted (including not attending school).
For those of you who never experienced the entertaining simplicity of this unique talent, there are numerous videos on the Utoobage to click on and listen to while we enjoy the latest installment of The Overnight Open Thread.

Absolutely nothing worth mentioning happened today. Even Drudge had no stories, as there was no new news. Malkin, the same. Politico, Media Matters, Kos, 1.0 – all zilch. As a matter of fact, everyone just stayed home and no one did anything. Oh, wait… there was one thing… no, nevermind. I thought it happened but it didn’t.
Maybe it’s just me. Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits. Today it was more of the latter.
But you never know what might happen, especially when it happens on The Overnight Open Thread.
