I forget the origin of this classic, originally posted in 2005. I found it behind the Rec Room couch with the cat stuff, dusted it off, and decided to post it in case some folks missed it.

Pay attention because some of the Secrets of Magic are revealed here, on
The Overnight Open Thread.

Okay. Y’all heard of Bo Diddley.  Here’s the Diddley Bow played by a master, Seasick Steve.  All rhythm – raw as all get out. From Wiki, here’s the equipment featured in that video:

The One-Stringed Diddley Bow — This is a one stringed string instrument played with a slide (He uses an old screwdriver for this purpose). It consists of a 2-foot-long (0.61 m) 2×4, with a semi-loose piece of broom wire nailed to it at both ends. It was made especially for him by James ‘Super Chikan’ Johnson.
The ‘MDM’ (Mississippi Drum Machine) — A small wooden box that is stomped upon, providing percussion. It is decorated with a Mississippi motorcycle license plate (“MC33583”), and a small piece of carpet.

And now, comin’ atcha over the mojo wire, is The Overnight Open Thread.

The Missus pulled up a weed last week. At least she thought it was a weed, but forgot we’d planted some taters in the garden, and now we have a home-grown po-tay-toh. The picture doesn’t do it justice – believe me, it’s awesome, almost as awesome as this vid from 1991:
