Despite the crackdown in Syria through the use of Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hizb’Allah, the Syrians continue to protest. Lead by Sunni Imams, the protests began in mass after Friday prayers. The Alawite regime of Bashar Assad is being challenged like never before in it’s history. However, the opposition are not people to be admired. It is the Muslim Brotherhood who is leading the charge against the Assad regime. They want payback for the 20,000 kiled at Homs in 1982. They smell blood and are mobilizing for a showdown.

(Reuters) – Protests against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad swept into the capital Damascus on Friday for the first time since a growing wave of pro-democracy unrest began to put pressure on his 11-year rule.

Thousands of protesters marched elsewhere across the country despite a fierce crackdown and some political concessions announced by Assad in an attempt to quell spreading unrest.

Shouting “God, Syria, Freedom,” protesters repeated the same demand for democratic reform and freedoms across many cities.

Assad’s use of force, mass arrests and accusations that armed groups have instigated the unrest, mixed with promises for reform and concessions to minority groups and conservative Muslims, have not placated protesters inspired by popular uprisings which toppled the leaders in Tunisia and Egypt.

The Popular Uprising has hit Syria and I feel no remorse. Bashar Assad allowed AL-Qaeda to use Syria as a staging ground to attack American troops in Iraq. The presence of these Jihadists clearly has radicalized the Syrian Sunnis. Now Assad is getting burned by the fire he started.
