Charles warns that Christianity is beginning ‘to disappear’ in its birthplace

No that was not the over weight, bigoted, jazz guitarist, blogger, but Prince jug ears himself. What he neglects to mention that Christianity is actually growing in Israel (which is the country were Jesus would be getting his passport from if he were with us today).

by John Bingham

Christianity is beginning “to disappear” in its own birthplace after 2,000 years because of a wave of “organised persecution” across the Middle East, the Prince of Wales has warned.

In an impassioned intervention, he said that the world is in danger of losing something “irreplaceably precious” with communities tracing their history back to the time of Jesus now under threat from fundamentalist Islamist militants.

Speaking openly of his own Christian faith, he said he had become “deeply troubled” by the plight of those he described as his “brothers and sisters in Christ”.

And the Prince, a long-standing advocate of dialogue between religions, voiced personal dismay at seeing his work over the last 20 years to “build bridges and dispel ignorance” being deliberately destroyed by those attempting to exploit the Arab Spring for their own ends.

He devoted a Christmas reception for religious leaders at Clarence House to draw attention to the threat Christians have come under in recent months across Egypt, Syria, Iraq and other parts of the region.

In a calculated display of unity, he delivered his comments flanked by Prince Ghazi of Jordan and joined by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Westminster, the Most Rev Vincent Nichols and the Chief Rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis.

It came at the end of a day in which he heard vivid personal testimony from Middle Eastern Christians who have fled to the UK as he visited the London cathedral of the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Coptic Orthodox Church centre in Stevenage, Herts.

In his address the Prince urged Christians, Muslims and Jews to unite in “outrage” as he warned that the elimination of Christianity in much of the region in which it developed would be a “major blow to peace”.

“I have for some time now been deeply troubled by the growing difficulties faced by Christian communities in various parts of the Middle East,” he said.

“It seems to me that we cannot ignore the fact that Christians in the Middle East are increasingly being deliberately targeted by fundamentalist Islamist militants.”

In a reference to the Christmas story, he added: “Christianity was literally born in the Middle East and we must not forget our Middle Eastern brothers and sisters in Christ.

“Their church communities link us straight back to the early church as I was reminded by hearing Aramaic, our Lord’s own language spoken and sung just a few hours ago.

“Yet today the Middle East and North Africa has the lowest concentration of Christians in the world – just four per cent of the population and it is clear that the Christian population has dropped dramatically over the last century and is falling still further.

“This has an effect on all of us, although of course primarily on those Christians who can no longer continue to live in the Middle East.

Speaking personally, he added: “For 20 years I have tried to build bridges between Islam and Christianity and to dispel ignorance and misunderstanding.

“The point though surely is that we have now reached a crisis where the bridges are rapidly being deliberately destroyed by those with a vested interest in doing so.

Prince Ghazi emphasised the importance of Christianity to the Arab world.

“Christians were present in the Arab world 600 years before Muslims,” he said.

“Indeed, Arabs were perhaps the first non-Hebrew Christians in the world, and became Christians during Jesus Christ’s own lifetime.

Charles concerned over rising anti-Semitism in Britain

No, not the pudgy blogger who thinks he is a mover and shaker in the blogosphere, but the jug eared Arabist who, hopefully, will never ascend to the throne of the United Kingdom. Charles fails to recognize that the end result of the rabid anti-Zionism in Britain is anti-Semitism.

Charles Prince of Wales has warned that Britain is suffering from an “apparent rise in anti-Semitism,” in a speech that praised the work of Britain’s outgoing Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks, the Guardian reported on Monday.

Prince Charles also expressed concern at the rise of “forms of intolerance.”

“I sometimes fear not enough recognition is given to the role of the faith communities in the life of our country in promoting such a critical principle, and I join with you, in mounting anxiety, at the apparent rise in anti-Semitism, along with other poisonous and debilitating forms of intolerance,” Prince Charles was quoted by the Guardian as saying.

Earlier this month, British MP Patrick Mercer sparked ire in Israel when he was caught on camera describing an Israeli soldier as a “bloody Jew.”

Mercer told of entering an “intelligence establishment” during a recent Israel visit and facing a security guard.

“An 18-year-old girl, wearing a uniform, with her sort of hair in plaits, and crazy jewelry and open-toed sandals, with a rifle up my nose,” he said.

“Who the f**k are you, you know? ‘Well I’m a soldier.’ Are you? You don’t look like a soldier to me. You look like a bloody Jew,” Mercer said.

Another MP, Lord Nazir Ahmed, resigned last month over accusations that he blamed his dangerous driving jail term on a Jewish conspiracy.

The Labor MP was suspended in March after The Times of London quoted him as saying that his prison sentence was a result of pressure applied on the court by Jews “who own newspapers and television channels.”

A report by the Community Security Trust (CST) on anti-Semitic incidents in the UK published in February shows a slight rise of five percent in 2012 compared to 2011. A total of 640 incidents were reported, against 608 in 2011.

According to the report, the total of 640 incidents included 100 reported under a new exchange program with the Metropolitan Police Service, whereby CST and MPS exchange all anti-Semitic incident reports received by either agency, in full anonymity, throughout the year.

“This contributed to a 55 percent rise in anti-Semitic incidents recorded by CST in the capital, alongside the 5 percent national rise. Without these 100 ‘extra’ recorded incidents, a like-for-like comparison with the 2011 figures would suggest an 11 percent fall in real terms in the UK-wide anti-Semitic incident total for 2012,” the CST, which has recorded anti-Semitic incidents on behalf of the Jewish community since 1984, said.

Charles rides the Tube

Charles the Prince of Wales and not the washed up blogger tries to reach out to the British public. The man who will never be King and his Un Mata Hari wife took a ride on the London  Underground, known as the tube. The ride was in honor of the 150th anniversary of the London Underground (which first opened in 1863).

Charles is washed up and like his name sake has had a nervous breakdown.

Update from Speranza: Anyone who has ever ridden the tube will understand  this – “Mind the gap”.

Sorry people, this thread is not about Charles Johnson. Its about his name sake, Charles the Prince of Wales. Like his American namesake, this Charles is also a Ghoulish clown.

In Prince Charles’ latest appearance on TV, he does the weather forecast for the 60th anniversary of BB Scotland.

I wonder what would happen if prince Charles started a blog? I bet it would make LGF look sane!
