Demagogues in both the Republican and Democrat Party treat the Immigration issue like political football. The Open borders Amnesty one world and La Raza/Mecha types on the Left call any Immigration enforcement racist. The Know Nothing element on the Right have turned an issue of legality into one of demonizing the entire Hispanic community as evil space monsters from Mars taking their virginal daughters. The extremists on both sides damage honest and rational problem solving on the immigration issue. One thing both sides claim is that Hispanics support amnesty and open borders, that is further from the truth.

A new poll out shows that 60% of Hispanics support an enforcement first approach to immigration. A majority also believe illegals should not have access to welfare benefits.  A majority also favor strengthening the border with fencing, more police and drones.

A majority of Hispanic adults, 57%, support tougher enforcement of the border to keep

A majority of Hispanic adults, 57%, support giving employers an e-verify system to find out if a job applicant is lawfully in the U.S. or not. Only 35% oppose e-verify. Among Hispanic voters 64% supported e-verify and only
29 % are opposed.

[….]
A majority of Hispanic adults, 51%, support strengthening the enforcement of the border to stop illegal immigration with additional fencing, police, surveillance drones and other measures. 43% opposed. However, among Hispanic voters, majority support widens to 55% and 42% oppose
The majority of Hispanic adults, 54%, support requiring that we reach a goal of stopping 90% of the undocumented immigration in the future; 38% opposed. Among Hispanic voters, six in ten, 59% supported the 90% goal and 36% opposed.
Among all Hispanics, six in ten, 60%, support granting legal status to those already here only when the 90% goal is reached; 32% oppose. Among Hispanic voters, 60% support, 34% oppose.

Among all Hispanic adults the majority, 51%, support stopping undocumented immigrants who are already here from getting food stamps, welfare, Medicaid, and Obamacare benefits while they are going through the legalization process and before the 90% goal is reached; 42% oppose. Among Hispanic voters, 56% support and 40% oppose
The majority of Hispanic adults, 56%, support an immigration reform bill that lets undocumented immigrants stay in the country legally, but not to get welfare or
food stamps, spends billions to stop new undocumented
immigrants from coming in, and lets undocumented immigrants get green cards and permanent citizenship only after the flow of undocumented immigrants is cut by 90% and only if they pay a fine and learn English; 35%
oppose.
This poll destroys many narratives, hence why with the exception of National Review, it has not gotten much discussion or traction on either Conservative nor Progressive websites. It does not fit either side’s narrative about the Hispanic view on Immigration. The truth is Hispanic’s views on immigration are not all that different from the public at large.

There is some bad news for Republicans and one that does not shock me as I see it in my own family. Thanks to the bigoted rhetoric of people like Ann Coulter and Steve King which is enabled by the Progressive media, Hispanics do not like the GOP. They view it and with reason as hostile to them.
Among all Hispanic adults two in three, 65%, believe that the Republican Party discriminates against Latinos and Hispanics. Only 22% said no and 13% didn’t know.
When asked if they think that “the Republican Party cares about people like you”, only one in four Hispanic adults, 27%, said yes. Six in ten, 61%, said no and 12% didn’t know.
When asked if they thought that “Republicans want to stop immigration because they don’t want more Latinos or Hispanics to come to the U.S.”, almost two-thirds of all Hispanic adults, 62%, said yes. Only 27% said no and 11% didn’t know.

This is not fair perception of the part of Hispanics. But many Republicans either engage in hostile vitriolic rhetoric against Hispanics or just tolerate it. The Progressive media and the Democrats play up this rhetoric to create bad blood between Republicans and Hispanics. The result is that many Hispanics who might be open to voting Republican or did at one point, do not. People will not vote for a party perceived to hate them, even though their views on Immigration mirror that of most Republicans. Being against Illegal Immigration equate hating Hispanics and that is something republicans need to stress. The voices of hate who are in my opinion false flaggers need to silenced and the issue needs to become one of legality.

Sadly this poll will be forgotten and instead we will continue to have the vitriolic debate being engaged by elements in both parties. The Transnational Progressive One world open borders crowd and their La Raza/Mecha allies will continue to paint any opponent of illegal immigration or those who call for more border security as racist or the coming of the 4th Reich. The Know Nothings who are silent about Islamic Immigration will continue with this Hispanics are evil Nazi like monsters invading, looting and conquering all before them. These Hispanic conquerors existed 500 years ago, so these know nothings are a few centuries too late in this warning.

Nothing will be done on this issue and we will still be talking about it in 2020 probably. In the meantime the name calling and division caused by extremists on both sides will continue to allow them make money of this issue. Big Business will continue have cheap labor and our borders will not be secured. The real losers in all this are the American people and that is the biggest tragedy of all!
