The great Obama recovery which has brought unprecedented prosperity to America continues to show signs of crisis. For the 3rd straight month retail sales fell in June.

U.S. retail sales fell for a third straight month in June as demand slumped for everything from cars and electronics to building materials, a sign the economic recovery is flagging.

Retail sales slipped 0.5 percent, the Commerce Department said on Monday.

It was the first time sales had dropped in three consecutive months since late 2008, when the economy was still mired in a deep recession. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected retail sales to rise 0.2 percent.

“Evidence is increasingly clear that the U.S. economy is slowing,” said Jim Baird, an investment strategist at Plante Moran Financial Advisors in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The most hyped economy of all time has back down to earth. After a modest Holiday shopping season improvement, reality has return for the Obama Boom! Jobless claims are now back up to 399,999.

The number of people applying for weekly unemployment benefits spiked last week, largely because companies let go of thousands of workers after the holiday season.

The Labor Department said Thursday that applications jumped by 24,000 to a seasonally adjusted 399,000, the most in six weeks.

That followed three months of steady declines that brought applications to the lowest level in more than three years.

The much hyped Christmas shopping season, was just that. Retail sales in December only rose .01%.

Retail sales rose at the weakest pace in seven months in December as consumers pulled back late in the holiday shopping season, cutting purchases at department stores and spending less on electronic gadgets.

Total retail sales increased 0.1 percent after rising by an upwardly revised 0.4 percent in November, the Commerce Department said on Thursday.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast retail sales climbing 0.3 percent last month.

The upward revision for November sales suggests consumers likely frontloaded their holiday shopping. The government had initially estimated retail sales gained 0.2 percent in November.

The media will cover up these anemic numbers. After all, can’t ruin the Obama Boom myth in an election year!

Just when you thought the media finally acknowledged there was no Obama Boom, they resurrect it. After months of reports saying “less than expected” a new term has been coined. Now it’s ” less than expected.” If economic data is not as bad as expected, it’s considered good and a sign that good times are ahead!

U.S. retail sales fell in May for the first time in 11 months as receipts at auto dealerships dropped sharply, but the decline was less than expected, offering hope of a pick-up in economic activity.

Total retail sales slipped 0.2 percent, the Commerce Department said on Tuesday, after a 0.3 percent rise in April.

Economists had expected retail sales to fall 0.4 percent.

A separate report from the Labor Department showed producer prices rose 0.2 percent, braking sharply from April’s 0.8 percent increase.

“The consumer isn’t dead. It’s good news for the day, and further evidence that while perhaps not robust, the recovery is bumping along in fits and starts,” said Michael Farr, president of Farr, Miller & Washington in Washington.

No the consumer isn’t dead, but our wages are stagnant and jobs are hard to come by. The Media shows their psycho-pant attitudes towards Obama. Bad economic news is good, if it’s not bad as expected. Anything to prop up their beloved Barack Hussein Obama.

The media can no longer cover up the truth. The Obama Boom is now the Obama stagflation. The jobs being created are low wage retail or fast food jobs. Wages are going down and the cost of living has increased. For the 2nd straight month, retail sales were anemic. The only growth came from rising fuel costs.

High gas prices took a toll as US retailers posted their smallest gain in nine months in April and producer prices rose, but labor market trends improved as jobless claims dropped significantly last week.

Total retail sales increased 0.5 percent for a 10th straight month of gains, the Commerce Department said on Thursday. March sales were revised up to a 0.9 percent increase from a previously 0.4 percent rise.
