Breaking News: Supreme Court rules 5-4 in favor of Gun Rights

Ina  massive blow to the Totalitarian Progressive agenda, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 against Chicago’s  Gun ban. The Left has tried for a generation to restrict gun ownership as a means to enable only criminals and the government to be armed. This creates a situation where the citizens are helpless and need government protection. Progressives love this since it helps further their Neo-Feudal agenda. Now American citizens have a right to defends themselves just like our founders intended.

In its second major ruling on gun rights in three years, the Supreme Court Monday extended the federally protected right to keep and bear arms to all 50 states. The decision will be hailed by gun rights advocates and comes over the opposition of gun control groups, the city of Chicago and four justices.

Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the five justice majority saying “the right to keep and bear arms must be regarded as a substantive guarantee, not a prohibition that could be ignored so long as the States legislated in an evenhanded manner.”

The ruling builds upon the Court’s 2008 decision in D.C. v. Heller that invalidated the handgun ban in the nation’s capital. More importantly, that decision held that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms was a right the Founders specifically delegated to individuals. The justices affirmed that decision and extended its reach to the 50 states. Today’s ruling also invalidates Chicago’s handgun ban.

Elena Kagan to be nominated to the Supreme Court

President Barack Hussein Obama is set to pick as his Supreme Court nominee, Elena Kagan. This comes as no surprise as her name has been circulating around now for weeks. Hopefully the Republicans will fight for full disclosure of her views and not rubber stamp her nomination.

President Barack Obama is to nominate Solicitor General Elena Kagan as his pick to replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens on the Supreme Court, NBC News reported Sunday.

Kagan would be the fourth woman ever nominated to the high court and continue a trend of Ivy League-educated lawyers who sit on the bench, after having graduated from Princeton University, Oxford University and Harvard Law School.

Unlike the others she would join on the bench, Kagan has never before served as a federal judge.
Earlier Attorney General Eric Holder, who is Kagan’s boss at the Justice Department, did little to dispel the notion that Kagan was the leading choice.

Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens to retire

Rumors of Justice John Paul Stevens’ retirement have been proven correct. He sent a letter to Barack Hussein Obama today about his intentions. Stevens is a Progressive so this will not alter the court’s balance. However, it gives a chance for Obama and the Progressives to appoint someone more Radical and who supports the Totalitarian agenda of the Left. Expect a big confirmation fight!

Supreme Court Associate Justice John Paul Stevens, the court’s oldest member and leader of its liberal bloc, said Friday he is retiring, Fox News has confirmed, giving President Obama his second high court opening to fill.

In a letter to the president, Stevens, the longest active serving member, said he has “concluded that it would be in the best interests of the court to have my successor appointed and confirmed well in advance of the commencement of the court’s next term” in October.

Stevens said he will step down when the court finishes its work for the summer in late June or early July.

Update: In other news, Obamacare sellout Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI), has announced plans to retire. Clearly his change of vote was due to him being bought off. However, it seems that he will have a lush job when he leaves Congress as well. Stupak helped bring Eugenics to America and for that his name will go down in history as a Judas.
