2011 Fallaci / Icarus Award Nominations and Open Thread!!!!

Twenty-twelve already. Wow. It’s time to nominate your favorites for the Blogmocracy Awards 2011!

As you all know, back at the old place we were allowed to vote on our choices for so called “Idiotarian” and “Anti-Idiotarian” of the year. In 2009, Charles decided that our voices meant nothing and he retroactively stripped winners and replaced them with his own choices. We have come to realize that fits his personality to a T.

That didn’t stop us though! We created or own awards and promise that whoever YOU VOTE FOR will be the actual winner. Imagine that!

Nominations will be open through Friday evening 11:30pm eastern. When the OOT goes up, I’ll move this to “Special Report” so it will stay visible through the nomination period.

Nominees for The Fallaci award should exhibit the characteristics we came to love about it’s namesake, Oriana Fallaci. She was fearless in her fight against fascism in all forms and died facing charges for telling the truth about islam.

The Icarus Award (formerly known as The Fiskie) will represent the “idiotarian” side – asshole of the year, if you will.

Thank you, once again, to Bosch Fawstin for the award images.

Previous winners: 2009 || 2010

2010 Fallaci – The Tea Party
2010 Icarus – Nancy Pelosi
2009 Fallaci – Geert Wilders
2009 Icarus – Barack Obama

Update:

The Osprey had a great idea – let’s nominate for national and international awards. Have at it!

Bunk took the night off so I am taking this chance to post the results of the second annual Blogmocracy Awards!

It was a close vote for both awards. Too many deserving people! We seem to have an abundance of Icarus contenders…

Anyway ~ on with the announcement!

Some reminders:

Sal Giunta-first living person to receive the Medal of Honor since Vietnam

Canadian PM Stephen Harper: I Will Defend Israel ‘whatever the cost’

And it’s not Katherine Sabaditsch-Wolff (Elizabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff?) Who nominated her? Hope that’s who you mean! Good one.

It is that time of year!

Nominations will be open all day today and tomorrow, and we’ll provide a link on each thread to remind you to get your nominations in! Voting will start Wednesday and run through the weekend. Winners to be announced Monday, January 10, 2011.

The Blogmocracy Award winners for 2009 were:

The Fallaci – Geert Wilders
The Icarus – Barack Obama

Nominees for The Fallaci award should exhibit the characteristics we came to love about it’s namesake, Oriana Fallaci. She was fearless in her fight against fascism in all forms and died facing charges for telling the truth about islam.

The Icarus is in a class by itself. Known for being an idiot and flying too close to the sun (causing his wings to melt so he crashed to the Earth), Icarus has come to symbolize all that is wrong with idiots that think they know everything.

Many thanks once again to Bosch Fawstin for the award images. Show him some love! They are perfect!
