Why 1.7% GDP growth is considered good now.

Back during the 2003-2007 expansion the media claimed the economy sucked. Granted, compared with the 80’s and 90’s the economy was not as hot. The only thing driving the economy was the housing bubble. Incomes were stagnant and the cost of living was increasing. It wasn’t the best of times but by no means was it the horror the Progressive media claimed it was. GDP growth averaged 3% and job growth was 150,000-250,000. It wasn’t great but at least people found work. The unemployment rate dropped from a peak of 6.3% in 2003 to 4.4% in 2007. The pay may not have been great compared to the 80’s and 90’s but at least you were able to find work and maybe even a good job, yet the media called it a horrible economy. The truth was it was far from horrible, it was decent. Not great like previous decades or like the horror we are living through.

Contrast that with how the media describes the economy now. For all of 2011 the GDP grew at 1.7%. An anemic number by any standard. The standard of living has decreased for most Americans, yet the media is portraying it as an economic golden age. Week after week, the media hypes up mediocre economic numbers. Take a look at this headline from CNBC.

Economic Growth Picks Up, So Why All the Gloom?

Can you imagine them having that headline during Bush’s Presidency? They would be saying its a anemic economy. Not with the False Messiah in charge. Nope. Instead they claim the economy is roaring like never before. The Obama Boom is what I have dubbed the Left’s hype of this economy. So the question is, why?

I know the answer as to why the media is giving Obama a pass with this anemic economy, where not only jobs are scarce but wages have declined (not remained stagnant, but have declined!) It’s because Obama is black. If Obama was a White Democrat the media would have crucified him the way they did LBJ and Carter. But since he’s the first Black President they are giving him a pass.

The reason Obama being black gets him a pass has to do with the racism of low expectations from the left. Progressives view Blacks as biologically inferior and unable to compete with Whites. So they lower the standard for their performance. This is seen in education and in the workplace through affirmative action. When successful Blacks appear, like Herman Cain, the media destroys them. It shatters their wold view of White Supremacy.

Obama is an affirmative action President. The Left excuses his terrible economic performance due to their perception of his inability to reach higher standards. So results that would have destroyed the Presidency of a Republican or White Democrat don’t apply to Obama in their minds. He’s black and that’s the best he can do is their reasoning. The Progressives are racist and this affirmative action Presidency is a perfect example. Obama is a result of the Left’s racism of low expectations. The Democratic Party is still the party of the KKK.

The Obama Boom: Mitt Romney says Economy is good

Mitt Romney claims the economy is getting better. Yes, he is buying into the Obama Boom myth! Romney is also giving Obama ammo for the general election.

If Romney is the nominee, he might as well play dead. To claim an economy that has real 16% unemployment and stagnant wages is good, is just nonsense.

The Obama Boom, Back to reality!

The most hyped economy of all time has back down to earth. After a modest Holiday shopping season improvement, reality has return for the Obama Boom! Jobless claims are now back up to 399,999.

The number of people applying for weekly unemployment benefits spiked last week, largely because companies let go of thousands of workers after the holiday season.

The Labor Department said Thursday that applications jumped by 24,000 to a seasonally adjusted 399,000, the most in six weeks.

That followed three months of steady declines that brought applications to the lowest level in more than three years.

The much hyped Christmas shopping season, was just that. Retail sales in December only rose .01%.

Retail sales rose at the weakest pace in seven months in December as consumers pulled back late in the holiday shopping season, cutting purchases at department stores and spending less on electronic gadgets.

Total retail sales increased 0.1 percent after rising by an upwardly revised 0.4 percent in November, the Commerce Department said on Thursday.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast retail sales climbing 0.3 percent last month.

The upward revision for November sales suggests consumers likely frontloaded their holiday shopping. The government had initially estimated retail sales gained 0.2 percent in November.

The media will cover up these anemic numbers. After all, can’t ruin the Obama Boom myth in an election year!

The Obama Boom: 200,000 jobs created in December and unemployment drops to 8.5% Update: Rubio writes to Obama about the Debt

The media is ecstatic! The Obama White House has popped out the champagne glasses. 200,000 jobs are reported to have been created in the month of December. The unemployment rate fell as well to 8.5%. This is good news for people seeking work but bad news politically for the country. If the job market continues this trend of 200,000 a month, it will all but guarantee Obama’s re-election. I don’t think this number can be sustained as there is no economic reason for any growth. Wages are stagnant and Americans are still in debt. My hunch is this was seasonal hiring.

The U.S. unemployment rate unexpectedly fell to 8.5 percent last month as job creation was more robust than expected, providing continued signs that the nation’s labor market is improving gradually.

Growth in manufacturing jobs helped offset loss in government positions, while wages edged higher and the length of the work week also lengthened a bit.

The unemployment rate a hotly contested number because of the rise in potential workers who have quit looking for jobs — has fallen 0.6 percentage points since August

[…]

The labor-force participation rate, considered another key metric regarding optimism in the workforce, was unchanged at 64 percent. The average duration of unemployment remains near a record high at just under 41 weeks, though the number of those unemployed for 27 weeks or longer fell by 92,000.

[…]

Job gains came from a variety of quarters: Transportation and warehousing surged by 50,000, the couriers and message industry rose 42,000, and retail added 28,000. Manufacturing grew by 23,000 and the hospitality industry continued its brisk pace, adding 24,000 jobs in December and 230,000 over the past year at food and drinking establishments.

Hospitality jobs are not the career building, high incomes jobs needed to sustain a good lifestyle. Couriers and messaging jobs are not well paying either. This continues a decades long trend of low paying jobs. Since a Democrat is in office the media will cheer and overlook the crappy jobs created. It’s all about keeping their False Messiah in office. This jobs report makes the job of unseating Obama even harder.

Update: The one Republican who could have wiped the floor with Obama and who is actually an Economic and Fiscal Conservative Marco Rubio writes a scathing letter to Obama. He condemns Obama’s calls for more borrowing and points out our debt is at dangerous levels.

In a scathing letter to sent to Barack Obama this morning, Senator Marco Rubio said that under the President’s first term in office, “more and more people have come to believe that America is becoming a deadbeat nation.”

Rubio went on to pledge that he would challenge any further increase in the debt ceiling, arguing that “we [Congress] need to make it routine to actually spend no more than we take in.” In the letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, the Florida Senator said that President Obama’s upcoming request to increase the debt ceiling by a whopping $1.2 trillion will cause the nation’s public debt to surpass the $16 trillion mark.

“I will oppose your request to continue borrowing and spending recklessly.”

Marco Rubio is a true Economic and Fiscal Conservative. He is lights beyond International Socialist Mitt Romney and Christian Socialist Rick Santorum. He gets it, the 2 clowns don’t get it.
