The media still has faith in the Obama Boom

Anyone in the real world knows we are going through stagflation. The economy has limped along the 4th quarter with GDP growth of 1.8%. Wages are stagnant and only crappy paying jobs are being created. Despite that, the media still keeps pushing the Obama Boom. They claim this slowdown is temporary and that soon the economy will boom! Haven’t they been saying this for two years now?

The economy has been showing clear signs of slowing, but the soft patch may be temporary, and some economists look for a pick-up during the summer.

Supply chain disruptions form the Japanese earthquake and tsunami have had a direct effect on manufacturing and the auto industry in particular. Additionally, the spike in oil and gasoline prices has hit consumer and business spending.

“We can put our finger on the problems, and they’re temporary, I think,” said Mark Zandi of Moody’s Economy.com. “Oil prices were a blow. You can see that in the consumer spending numbers in Q1, and prices are coming back down.”

The latest disappointing data came Thursday, with the second look at first quarter GDP, still a sluggish 1.8 percent, while economists had expected it to rise above 2 percent. Jobless claims, above 400,000 for seven weeks, were greater than expected at 424,000.

But she still sees a better second half. “I still think the second quarter is giving us the disappointment I feared would occur. The important thing is I still have not changed the second-half outlook. We still feel the second half will show the acceleration. I feel just as good about that as I did before.

If a Republican was President would the media be painting a rosy picture? No way. Ever since Obama has been elected the Progressive Propagandists have been saying things are improving and that good times are right around the corner. When these predictions don’t materialize they blame earthquakes, tornadoes and the weather. Has it ever occurred to them that Obama’s polices have failed?

Obama Boom: Low wage jobs now the norm

The days of upward mobility in America appear to be coming to an end. Good paying jobs were getting scarce before the Great Recession, now they are even rarer. Despite job growth in recent months, they have been low wage positions. These new jobs don’t allow people to move upward economically. We are transforming into a 3rd world style economy. You are lucky to have a good job or you most likely have a low wage position. Even the once vaunted tech industry doesn’t pay what it did in it’s 90’s hey day, thanks to outsourcing and H1-B visas. America’s middle class is being destroyed.

The U.S. labor market has been looking stronger in recent months. Since jobs began to increase in early 2010, private-sector companies have added two million workers, with the overwhelming bulk of the gains coming from small businesses. So far this year, payroll increases have accelerated to 214,000 per month, the strongest four-month pace in five years.

But there’s a catch. The quality of the jobs the U.S. is creating right now in terms of pay, benefits, hours, and skills leaves a lot to be desired. The problem is not only the depth of the recession and the sluggishness of the recovery. It also reflects the changing structure of the U.S. economy, as more manufacturing operations shift to overseas locations, while service businesses, which often pay much less, take a more dominant role in job creation.

Previously high-paying jobs in manufacturing have gone the way of the Edsel. U.S. factories lost 3 million jobs from 2000 to 2004, jobs that did not return during the boom leading up to the recession, along with another 2.2 million from 2007 to 2010. Those are unlikely to come back, as well. Manufacturing jobs were 20 percent of private-sector payrolls in 1990, 15 percent in 2000, and just over 10 percent in April. Large multinational corporations have cut 2.9 million U.S. jobs over the past decade, while adding 2.4 million workers to their overseas operations.

This is unacceptable. America was once at the forefront of upward mobility and economic opportunity. Clearly our economic system is out of date and can’t compete in a globalized economy. Our leaders in both parties refuse to address this issue. Obama’s polices are making matters worse! If things continue the day will come that Americans will immigrate to other nations to seek better lives. Think it can’t happen? Read about Argentina.

We need to restore the American dream or else we will be a bankrupted has been power. Low wage jobs will not sustain America’s economic power. Without a good economy we will not be a world power for long.

Obama Boom: Wholesale prices rise 1% in April

by Phantom Ace Comments Off on Obama Boom: Wholesale prices rise 1% in April

The Obama Boom continues to destroy our living standards. Whole sale prices rose 1% in April. Keep in mind, wages are flat or declining since the most jobs are now retail low wage positions. To make matters worse, the official inflation rate is at 6.8% for the year. This is stagflation 70’s style and there’s no relief in sight.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Companies paid more for raw materials and factory goods in April, mostly because energy prices jumped for the seventh straight month..

The Producer Price Index, which measures price changes before they reach the consumer, rose 0.8 percent last month, the Labor Department said. That’s slightly above the 0.7 percent gain in March. Excluding the volatile food and energy categories, the core index increased 0.3 percent, the same as in the previous month.

Over the past 12 months, the index has increased 6.8 percent, the biggest gain in nearly three years. Outside of food and energy, prices rose 2.1 percent, up from a 1.9 percent gain in March

The Obama Boom is definitely retro 70’s. Unlike back then, when raises were given out, wages are going down. This is part of an 11 year economic decline that shows no end. Now with inflation, this decline is accelerating.

The media can no longer cover up the truth. The Obama Boom is now the Obama stagflation. The jobs being created are low wage retail or fast food jobs. Wages are going down and the cost of living has increased. For the 2nd straight month, retail sales were anemic. The only growth came from rising fuel costs.

High gas prices took a toll as US retailers posted their smallest gain in nine months in April and producer prices rose, but labor market trends improved as jobless claims dropped significantly last week.

Total retail sales increased 0.5 percent for a 10th straight month of gains, the Commerce Department said on Thursday. March sales were revised up to a 0.9 percent increase from a previously 0.4 percent rise.

Excluding gasoline, retail sales were up 0.2 percent after rising 0.5 percent in March.
