Maybe it’s time for the “New PINK Panthers”

Pink Panther
Allow me to propose a new political activist group.

As we all know, among the many dangers that menace the US in the run-up to the 2012 US presidential elections are not only ghost voters and other forms of vote fraud, but also outright voter intimidation by uniformed, billy-club-wielding members of the “New Black Panther Party.” Voters whose complexion did not match that of the thugs were, ahem, discouraged from participating in the election.

As for myself, I’m Serbian-American, and that means European. When the census taker came around, she automatically marked “White” for my race. Of course, that’s just a customary term; we are not the color of new-fallen snow. Most of us have skin tones that are some shade of pink through beige.

What we are concerned about here is not race or skin color itself, but our rights as citizens to use the polling places without our heads being bashed in.

Like to get down in the trenches and mix it up?

So do I.

How do we go about it? What do we call ourselves?

Calling ourselves “White Panthers” wouldn’t work. Ill-wishers would immediately seize upon the word “white” to smear us as white supremacists. Those with long memories might mistake us for an even older version of the “Gray Panthers” leftist movement of some decades ago. And given that panthers are a dark (melanistic) phase of leopards, “white panther” seems almost an oxymoron.

Considering that some of us who want to be able to vote have pink skin, I have a better idea, or at least a funnier one. I love me some street theater, as long as it’s OUR side putting on the show for a change!

How about we all rent or make some Pink Panther costumes, call ourselves the “New Pink Panthers,” and assemble near the embattled polling places in such numbers that billy-club-wielding thugs will find themselves outnumbered? The padding and fur on the costumes would help to cushion and deflect any bumps and bruises. And you certainly don’t have to be “white” (dermatologically speaking) to put on the costume and join us. You just have to believe in the US Constitution, the laws of your State, and the right to vote.

Here’s what happened last time around, in 2008:

Andrew Breitbart: Shock Photos: Barack Obama With New Black Panther Party on Campaign Trail in 2007

New photographs obtained exclusively by BigGovernment.com reveal that Barack Obama appeared and marched with members of the New Black Panther Party as he campaigned for president in Selma, Alabama in March 2007.

The photographs, captured from a Flickr photo-sharing account before it was scrubbed, are the latest evidence of the mainstream media’s failure to examine Obama’s extremist ties and radical roots.

In addition, the new images raise questions about the possible motives of the Obama administration in its infamous decision to drop the prosecution of the Panthers for voter intimidation.

The images, presented below, also renew doubts about the transparency of the White House’s guest logs–in particular, whether Panther National Chief Malik Zulu Shabazz is the same “Malik Shabazz” listed among the Obama administration’s early visitors…

Outrage: ‘Eminent Domain’ Land Seized in Kelo Decision for ‘Development’ Now a Debris Dump

Big Government: Years Later, Land Seized in Kelo Decision Used for Debris Dump

Stupid smiley with dunce cap

by Brian Garst
In 2005, Kelo v. City of New London made eminent domain infamous. The widely reviled Supreme Court ruling gave the go ahead for the city of New London to use eminent domain for taking private property in order that it be given to a private company for “economic development.”

The public response was one of outrage. Facing the potential wrath of voters, politicians across the country moved to add new protections against such abusive seizures. But that wasn’t enough to save the homes of the folks in New London, whose property never would be developed. Pfizer, the intended beneficiary of the land theft, walked away years ago from their development plans.

Now, to add new insult to injury, the vacant lot is a dump. Literally.

Following hurricane Irene, the city designated the site as a place to dump storm debris, and citizens can be seen doing just that in this video on the local paper’s website.

Doesn’t that make you feel all warm inside? The Supreme Court reassured us in Kelo that the government orchestrated theft “would be executed pursuant to a “carefully considered” development plan.” What they forgot to mention is that careful consideration from politicians is worth about as much as the city’s new debris dump, which is to say: diddly squat.

NAACP Joins with CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood to Muzzle Free Speech in Ohio

Animated waving Tea Party (Gadsden) 'Don't Tread On Me' flag

The leftist thugs of the NAACP have made common cause with the jihadi thugs of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to try to muzzle free speech at an event held by the Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party. We salute the Tea Party organizers for standing their ground!

According to the FBI, CAIR was listed as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee and was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial. Even so, CAIR never misses a chance to try to bully both private organizations and governmental bodies (even the US Air Force Academy) into cancelling speaking events where somebody might reveal the truth about the dangers posed by Islam. The very fact that our government allows a foreign enemy organization (which is exactly what CAIR is) to operate on US soil is an absolute disgrace. The federal government should deport all of these subversives, and no federal, State or local governmental body should allow itself to be intimidated by them – or by any organization, such as the NAACP, that makes common cause with them.

Mansfield News Journal: Mansfield school chief pulls plug on ‘anti-Islamic’ tea party event

(h/t: Weasel Zippers, vagabond trader)

1:40 PM, Mar. 28, 2011

MANSFIELD — A Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association event featuring a speaker on radical Islam will go on at 7 p.m. today as planned, but in a different location.

Usama Dakdok will speak at Premier Office Complex, 1456 Park Avenue West, Suite J. Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs.

The group had planned to meet at its usual location at the high school until this morning, when Mansfield City Schools Superintendent Dan Freund, citing safety concerns, withdrew permission for the group to meet there.

Speaking at a 10:30 a.m. press conference at the school’s central office, 856 W. Cook Road, Freund said that, after consulting with Mansfield City Police, the school decided it could not guarantee public safety at a Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association event scheduled for 7 p.m. [emphasis added]

In his comments, Freund said the district’s decision was prompted by safety concerns and not by the presumed content of the scheduled speaker’s message.

The Mansfield Branch of NAACP followed with a press conference of their own at 11 a.m.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m. today, the NAACP announced it would hold a joint press conference at 11 a.m. to ask the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education and superintendent to withdraw permission for the tea party meeting tonight. Around 10 a.m., the superintendent’s office annnounced a press conference for 10:30 a.m.

According to a press release issued this morning, NAACP will be joined at the 11 a.m. press conference by representatives from the Council on American-Islamic Relations [CAIR, emphasis added], Mansfield Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and other civic community leaders.

NAACP is asking for a “rigorous review” of the school’s facilities use guidelines and policies before an event scheduled for Mansfield Senior High School community room at 7 p.m. today.

Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association, which meets regularly at the high school, will host guest speaker Usama Dakdok. The press release announcing his appearance said that Dakdok will “reveal the ways that we are not just losing our freedoms, but that we are surrendering them to our enemy, radical Islam. He will explain what Islam is and what Muslims believe.” The event is open to the public and, according to the tea party press release “a freewill offering will be taken.”
[…]
The NAACP press release states: “We must stand together as a community and realize there exists many, diverse cultures in America. We as Americans have a right to choose whatever religion we wish to follow. It is our country’s diversity which has made us a nation rich in cultural experience and our children have a right to know that whatever faith they choose to follow, that they will not be judged by their color or religion, but by the content of their character.”…

The fact that a school superintendent is behaving this way is just one more argument for privatizing our educational system. There is a huge conflict of interest whenever any governmental body controls the purse strings of any school system. I would have no problem with a system of purely local schools, where only the families involved with each individual school have a voice in how money is raised and spent, what is taught there, who is hired, and how the buildings may be used both during and outside of school hours.

It is especially ironic that leftist and pro-jihadi organizations such as the NAACP and CAIR keep trying to play the “freedom of religion” card when their real intention is to suppress the freedom of speech of anybody they disagree with. Both organizations know perfectly well what they are doing: they are using our sometimes misguided understanding of what our liberties entail, so as to put an end to those very liberties once and for all.

This is 2011! Why do we still have pirates?

Piracy should be a thing of the past.

Fox News: Four Americans Killed on Yacht Hijacked by Somali Pirates

(h/t: Bagua)

Four Americans aboard a yacht hijacked by Somali pirates were gunned down by their captors Tuesday.

U.S. forces responded to gunfire aboard the yacht Quest at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday, but discovered all four hostages had been shot by their captors. Despite attempts to save their lives, all four hostages died of their wounds.

“We express our deepest condolences for the innocent lives callously lost aboard the Quest,” said Gen. James N. Mattis, U.S. Central Command Commander in a news release.

Two pirates died during the confrontation and U.S. forces found the remains of two other pirates already dead aboard the vessel. Thirteen pirates were captured and detained, along with two already in custody. A total of 19 pirates were involved in the hijacking.

The remains of the four Americans were taken aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, as were the 15 pirates in custody. There is no word yet on where the pirates will be taken for trial. They could go to Kenya or they could come back to the U.S. There is a precedent for both.

Read it all.

Pirates belong in the history books or the movies, not in real life. The United States has adequate naval firepower to put an end to piracy in international waters. The US Constitution empowers the US Senate and House of Representatives to do what is needed to get rid of this scourge.

Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution empowers Congress

…To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;…

Obama failed to take any action until it was too late. Yoo-hoo, Obama and the US Senate and House: You can’t pussyfoot around with pirates. It’s YOUR DUTY to defend the US against foreign enemies. In case you haven’t noticed, pirates are foreign enemies, they have attacked us, and it’s your duty to do something about it, without delay. You have to clean pirates out of the sea lanes, you have to sink all their boats and ships, and you have to take out the villages and settlements where they are based. The Senate needs to enact a specific declaration of war against these pirates and the House needs to vote funding to back it up.

None of this “nation-building” – just clean them out once and for all. If you fail to do that, piracy will rapidly grow out of control and maritime transport will become more and more dangerous and expensive. Allowing this piracy to continue will cost us, and the rest of the world, very heavily in the long run.

Says Iron Fist on a recent thread on Blogmocracy:

well at least Obama approved action if the Navy thought the hostages were in danger.

I call bull**** on that. The hostages were in danger from the minute the Somali animals took them prisoner. They should have threatened to bomb the pirates’ village flat if any of the hostages were harmed. Now they should follow up on that. Kill the village. Everyone in it. Flatten it with fuel-air explosives. Sink any vessels that try and make port there afterwords.

One of the problems that is hamstringing the US and other nations in dealing with pirates is the UN. That organization serves only to protect and foster evildoers all over the world; it’s long past time to get the US out of the UN and vice versa, but that is an argument for another day. The problem is that current maritime law as defined by the UN makes no provision for dealing with pirates.

DNA India: Why we still have pirates in the 21st century

Gwynne Dyer / Sunday, October 10, 2010 22:14 IST
[…]
How can it have come to pass that we have a major pirate problem in the 21st century? They sorted that out in the early 18th century. Why has it got unsorted again?

Blame international law. When they were codifying the law of the sea back in the 1970s, the world had no pirate problem worth talking about. So they dropped the rule of “universal jurisdiction” that had been the key to suppressing piracy in the bad old days. “Universal jurisdiction”meant that every navy could arrest suspected pirates of any nationality and try them under its own national laws, since pirates had been defined as “the enemies of all mankind.” That’s how piracy was wiped out in the first place.

But when they were writing the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in the 1970s, there were no pirates anymore, so they dropped the rule of “universal jurisdiction” in favour of a legal regime more attuned to modern notions of human rights and national sovereignty. What has replaced those old rules, in practice, is a legal quagmire where you can never be sure who has legal jurisdiction. So the navies (which could easily suppress the piracy if they were free to act) refrain from using force, and are reluctant even to arrest people at sea who are quite obviously pirates.

To extinguish piracy again, we need a modernised version of the old rules. That requires prompt action to create a comprehensive international agreement that gets around the Law of the Sea.

There is one other issue, of course. If we use serious force against the pirates, they will threaten to use force against their captives. Some of them might be killed. But since there will never be a time when there are no captives in the hands of the Somali pirates until and unless we crack down hard, that is a risk that we just have to take.

Read it all.

A better idea: Ignore the UN entirely and go after the pirates. If anybody complains, ignore them also.

We dealt with jihadi pirates two centuries ago, during the Thomas Jefferson administration. We can do it again.
