Charles “Icarus” Johnson is a really vile character. He is not content with banning people from his blog, but seeks to silence them. He latest tactic of revealing me and Savage’s identities was done to silence us. Instead I will be more ruthless in my analysis of the washed up Jazz Artist.

Charles’s nickname Icarus is perfect for him. Let us look at the story of Icarus.

Icarus

Icarus (Greek: Ἴκαρος, Latin: Íkaros, Etruscan: Vicare) is a character in Greek mythology. He is the son of Daedalus and is commonly known for his attempt to escape Crete by flight, which ended in a fall to his death.

Escape from Crete

Icarus’ father, Daedalus, a talented, remarkable craftsman, attempted to escape from his exile in the place of Crete, where he and his son were imprisoned at the hands of King Minos, the king for whom he had built the Labyrinth to imprison the Minotaur (half man, half bull). Daedalus, the superior craftsman, was exiled because he gave Minos‘ daughter, Ariadne, a clew of string in order to help Theseus, the enemy of Minos, survive the Labyrinth and defeat the Minotaur.

Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and his son. Before they took off from the island, Daedalus warned his son not to fly too close to the sun, nor too close to the sea. Overcome by the giddiness that flying lent him, Icarus soared through the sky curiously, but in the process he came too close to the sun, which melted the wax. Icarus kept flapping his wings but soon realized that he had no feathers left and that he was only flapping his bare arms. And so, Icarus fell into the sea in the area which bears his name, the Icarian Sea near Icaria, an island southwest of Samos.[1]

Icarus is a perfect name for Charles Johnson. His blog is crashing and he is desperate. He really has become the Olbermann of the blogosphere. He lashes out without thinking. He can’t stand criticism and seeks to silence his opponents. He is like Icarus, he is crashing down!

Update: Lancekates describes how Icarus is a perfect name for the Ex Jazz Musician.

Gives new meaning to being burned out and washed up.

Both of which describe Charles.

Lance, I could not have said it better.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
