More reasons why we MUST ban the burqa, the niqab, and all similar facial and bodily disguise in public places:

Terrorists in Drag: Bombs Beneath the Burqa

There they all stand, guilty as sin, Afghan Taliban terrorists disguised in women’s burqas—but exposed when they were captured by the Afghan Border Police. Their photo (or rather photos) were taken by an Afghan photographer somewhere near Jalalabad and have just been seen worldwide.

Taliban Burqa Dudes Unveiled

One of these charmers was wearing an explosive vest; six had AK-47s. Clearly they were up to no good. One wonders how long they will remain in jail and what they will do when they emerge.

These photographs conclusively validate the concern that Dr. Daniel Pipes has had about the security risk that burqas represent. For the last six years, Dr. Pipes has been detailing the number of common criminals and Islamist terrorists who have robbed jewelry stories and peeped into women’s bathrooms while wearing burqas, or who have blown themselves and others up from under the protective cover of a mere woman’s shroud.

In December, 2009, a suicide bomber dressed in a full veil and abaya gained access to a ceremony attended by Somali government officials in Mogadishu and killed 19 people, including three cabinet ministers. In February, 2010, a female suicide bomber killed 54 Shia pilgrims in Baghdad. She was dressed in an abaya, which police said allowed her to hide an explosive device. In December, 2010 in Pakistan, a woman wearing a burqa threw a grenade and detonated an explosive vest at a U.N. security checkpoint, killing 41 people.

This is not just happening in Muslim-majority countries or in war zones.

In August, 2010, a man wearing a burqa robbed a bank in Silver Spring, Maryland. In January, 2011, a man wearing niqab (a face veil) attempted to rob a bank in Philadelphia. Three years earlier, also in Philadelphia, three men dressed as Muslim women stuck up a Bank of America branch. One of the men shot and killed a police officer during their getaway.

Why are burqas allowed in public? Or rather, why don’t we view them as potentially suspicious as opposed to a religious custom which we infidels are obligated to honor and revere?

For reasons of safety, the West, and for that matter the entire Muslim world, should immediately ban the burqa as a security risk. [Emphasis added.]

Greatest Sci-Fi movie ever?

Blade Runner tops sci-fi film poll

Cult hit Blade Runner has been named the greatest sci-fi film of all time by movie buffs – beating the ever-popular Star Wars.

Ridley Scott’s futuristic tale, starring Harrison Ford as android hunter Rick Deckard, triumphed in a poll for Total Film magazine.

The film, which celebrates its 30th anniversary next year, initially struggled at the box office but went on to be viewed as a classic.

Star Wars finished fifth in the list, while the second film to be made in the series – The Empire Strikes Back – was the most popular in George Lucas’s saga, ranked second in the poll.

Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey was third, while director Scott had another entry in the top 10 with his chilling Alien placed fourth. The sequel Aliens – made by James Cameron – was seventh.

Just one film from the 21st century – Inception – made the top 10, half of which was made up of movies from the 1980s.

Avatar – the most successful film of all time at the box office – missed out on the top 10, and was placed 11th.

“Once seen and heard, so many scenes from Blade Runner burn into your brain forever. It’s sci-fi at its bleakest and most brilliant,” said Jamie Graham, deputy editor of Total Film.

The top 10 are as follows:

1 Blade Runner (1982)

2 Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

3 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

4 Alien (1979)

5 Star Wars (1977)

6 ET: The Extra Terrestrial (1982)

7 Aliens (1986)

8 Inception (2010)

9 The Matrix (1999)

10 The Terminator (1984)

I will stay out of this debate as Blade Runner is without a doubt, not only mrs coldwarrior’s favorite movie of all time, it is then a given her favorite sci-fi film.

As an astute reader pointed out at the comment section of the above article, there are no movies from before 1977 in this list…That does seem rather curious.

Dog Day Afternoon: Military Working Dogs

This is a guest post from our very own Blogmocracy mascot, Leia:

Hi friendly people!

I thought I would write about some of my friends in the military today. Not the ones who wear uniforms, like my dad, but the ones with four legs and a tail.

Everyone has seen the stories about the courageous dogs who fight along side our troops overseas, including Cairo, the Belgian Malnois tracking dog who participated in the mission to get bin Laden, but not as much has been covered about where these dogs come from, or how they’re trained.

All dogs used by the military, along with many used by law enforcement, are trained by the 341st Training Squadron at Lackland AFB, Texas. There, they spend 60 to 90 days learning to detect drugs or explosives, along with protecting their handler.

In the past, candidates were purchased from breeders or donated by civilians. Now, the military is running its own breeding program to provide new canine troops. An interesting aspect of the program is the fact that the puppies don’t live in kennels at Lackland. They’re actually sent to live with volunteer families in the area until they’re old enough to begin training (around 6 months). If anyone in the San Antonio area would like to participate in the program, there is more information here.

Another thing many people wonder is what happens to working dogs when they “retire”? Today, there is a program that allows people to adopt military working dogs who are no longer able to serve, whether due to age or injury. Although many of the dogs are adopted through Lackland AFB, it’s actually possible to adopt one through a military installation in your own area, in many cases.

More information is available on the MWD Adoptions website. Even if you don’t have the ability to adopt one of these former canine warriors yourself, you can help with their mission. Military Working Dog Adoptions is a non profit organization in the process of obtaining 501(c)3 status, and you can donate to them through a link on their homepage.

Well, that’s enough for today! Bye!

How Switzerland Resists Islamization

Says The Osprey:

Something tells me the present day inhabitants of Switzerland aren’t going to be paying the jizya any time soon.

Schlüer: Swiss Ban on Minarets Democratic, Not Racist

Ulrich Schlüer, of the far-right populist Swiss People’s party, leads the campaign to ban minaret construction in Switzerland.

Be advised that every party in Europe that opposes Islamization is automatically dubbed “far-right,” so as to smear it with a false connection to fascism.

Why Switzerland Has The Lowest Crime Rate In The World

Uploaded by crutley2 on Nov 15, 2009

When thinking about the mass extermination camps of a holocaust think..

The key to freedom is to be able to have the ability to defend yourself &, if you dont have the tools to do that, then youre going to be at the mercy of whomever wants to put you away.

Guns are deeply rooted within Swiss culture – but the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept.

The country has a population of six million, but there are estimated to be at least two million publicly-owned firearms, including about 600,000 automatic rifles and 500,000 pistols.

This is in a very large part due to Switzerland’s unique system of national defence, developed over the centuries.

Instead of a standing, full-time army, the country requires every man to undergo some form of military training for a few days or weeks a year throughout most of their lives.

Between the ages of 21 and 32 men serve as frontline troops. They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home.

Once discharged, men serve in the Swiss equivalent of the US National Guard, but still have to train occasionally and are given bolt rifles. Women do not have to own firearms, but are encouraged to.

Update 28th December 2010:

Out of nearly 3 million views of this video there are 4358 thumbs up to 427 thumbs down. So, you could say, if any of us lived in any sort of real democracy in this world that would mean that only one in every ten people would like to keep gun control laws. Guess this means that we’re not and that the tyrants still have all the real power.
