Just in case anyone missed it, there’s some serious dumpage going on at DoD.
The Boiler Room Crew is releasing the mostly inaccessible and unadulterated Archives of Charles Johnson’s Little Green Footballs in installments. These are not just the Big Guy’s front pages – they include millions of intact comments and links, free for downloading, perusing, cherrypicking and well-deserved general mockery. (Breitbart would have loved it, and we’re not done yet.)

SPECIAL SECRET TECH NOTES FROM
Hi,
Those files are the raw, un-edited and un-messed with html files of every page with comments.
When you open them in Firefox you either get re-directed to the LGF home page when connected to the Internet or you get some “unable to load page” bullshit if you load the page while not connected.
IE8 lets you load the page but it looks like shit most of the time because the css files no longer match.
I edit my hosts file to look like this
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 littlegreenfootballs.com
127.0.0.1 http://www.littlegreenfootballs.comWhich stops my computer from ever directly accessing LGF. (I always use a proxy, which I change every time he catches me!)
The best way to safely look at them without messing with your system is to re-name them from .htm to .txt and look at them using Wordpad.
In the future it would be nice to release all the stuff in an easy to read format but at the moment the intention is to get the raw files out there so others can process them, extract comments, usernames and statistics and shit.
