We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.
Play nice!

those guys are awesome
does anybody know exactly where Aussie is? I think he really is in NZ but I’m not sure, thought I’d check. This doesn’t look good.

record cold for us overnight.
this crap gets earlier every year
@ coldwarrior:
We’re sitting about 10 degrees celsius lower than normal. Two degrees colder then the previous record low. Of course the station that we get our weather readings from has only been in existence for about 15 years.
@ PaladinPhil:
I can see the glacier from here.

From The Hill. The ‘makers’ really are sick of the ‘takers’ in Canada. With GOOD reason. Quebec screws over all of Canada.
“President Trump’s offer to purchase Greenland from Denmark was front-page news in August, but a better option for expanding the country’s geographic footprint would be to offer statehood to the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, as well as the interior of British Columbia.
After the final results of the recent Canadian election, there’s likely a growing group of Western Canadians who might seriously consider that offer.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau just squeaked through the Canadian federal election with a minority government. So, with the help of the New Democratic Party, or NDP, and the Canadian Green Party, he still has the votes in Parliament to impose his carbon tax on the nation. That plan holds the power to cripple the economies of the Western provinces, all of which rely heavily on energy-intensive industries such as oil and natural gas, mining, forestry and agriculture.
With their livelihoods at stake, many Western Canadians may be wondering whether they even belong in Canada anymore. Their concerns are based in the West’s well-established distrust of Eastern politicians who claim the right to oversee the development and disposition of Western natural resources. This time, Western separatism comes with the handy hashtag, #Wexit”.

Sultan Knish on Hillary’s latest book.
The Book of Gutsy Women, a collection of feminist stories by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton about role models like eco-brat Greta Thunberg, Rachel Carson, and Bella Abzug, remembered respectively for helping revive malaria and ugly hats, is the #1 bestseller in Women’s Studies on Amazon.
That’s about all it has going for it.
Even in its debut, the lazy cash-in fell behind the latest Trump conspiracy tract, Rachel Maddow’s Blowout: Corrupted Democracy, Rogue State Russia, and the Richest, Most Destructive Industry on Earth. Even Maddow’s title sounds like something a crazy homeless man might yell at you while waving a cup of his own urine, so it obviously sold more than twice as many copies as Hillary’s feminist tract.
Hillary might have taken a lesson from What Happened, which outsold her own memoirs, that her ex-base is a lot more interested in conspiracy theories about Republicans than feminist heroines. Lefties might claim that they want to read about inspiring women, but they really want to flip through a spittle-flecked rant written on tin-foil paper which blames all their problems on a vast-right wing conspiracy.
zerohedge. Hong Kong Polce warn city on the edge of a breakdown.
After nearly six months of protests in Hong Kong, the weekend demonstrations – which more closely resemble street skirmishes between black-clad protesters and the cops – have grown increasingly violent, people are being seriously wounded and even killed on both sides. And this week, protesters have apparently committed to another escalation: they’ve taken to the streets to disrupt HK’s public transportation during Monday and Tuesday, forcing businesses to close and schools to cancel.
Hong Kong policed warned on Tuesday that the city is now “on the brink of total collapse” after a second straight day of violence and chaos. The MTR, Hong Kong’s subway network, closed several stations and reduced the frequency of trains to cope with the demonstrations.
It appears that everyone is freaking out because the Supreme Court is allowing the lawsuit against Remington by the Newtown parents to go forward and not granting cert under the 2005 law that gives gun owners immunity from lawsuits over use of their products.
There are a thousand different reasons for the Supreme Court to let this play out. First of all, it’s a state case and should proceed accordingly. Second, better to have a final judgment on which to base a ruling than, essentially, a case not yet adjudicated. Remember, they took up the cause of the gay baker only AFTER he was found liable to the snots who sued him.
Also, while I understand that the parents rightfully want to blame SOMEONE for the horror of that day, and the monster who committed it is dead, I would very much be surprised if a jury found Remington liable.
What I am curious about is why the defendants didn’t remove this case to federal court under diversity jurisdiction. Then they would have had a better argument for a 12(b)(6) motion to dismiss under the 2005 law.
@ The Barbarian:
I had to explain that to someone earlier.
The case hasn’t even been heard yet
The Barbarian wrote:
I think Remington’s attorneys were hoping to get SCOTUS to extend the PLCAA protections to state courts.
@ lobo91:
There’s a part of me that wonders if the Supreme Court simply wants these parents to have their day in court. There’s time for appeal if the jury finds the manufacturer guilty.
Plus, I’m sure the defendants will file a Motion for Judgment Notwithstanding the Verdict if the jury finds for the plaintiffs. Basically it says the jury ignored the law, ignored the evidence and got it wrong. Judge can overturn jury verdict – that becomes subject for the appeal, and it can go up all the way.
Also, the Supreme Court is more likely to allow the parties to have their day in court at this stage rather than not permit it.
Adam Schiff is threatening GOP members of the Intelligence Committee with an Ethics Committee investigation if they talk about the Weaselblower.
Schiffty’s in it up to his pencil neck. Now that we know his name, all sorts of comprising information is coming out about this jerk. Schiffty is starting to worry that his ridiculous cast of characters are going to be eviserated by the GOP in the hearings.
I hope they do what they’ve hinted at – reassign Jim Jordan temporarily to the Intelligence Committee. Schiffty’s worst nightmare.
@ The Barbarian:
In 2016, Ciaramella showed up in the White House logs 200 times. It may have been a bit longer period, but my jaw dropped when I saw that. I’ll see if I can find the link, but he was using the revolving door./

‘Soros lackey’is something we’d all like evidence for. OTOH, the Obama White House was stuffed to the gills with Soros lackeys. That malignant piece of protoplasm & offspring really deserve the now common term ‘Nazi’.
Has anyone seen that ridiculous “paywall” that Twitchy has put up for certain stories? People are getting annoyed.
hey y’all
Looks like Jim Jordan HAS been assigned to the Intelligence Committee.
Hope Schiffty brings his tap shoes tomorrow.

Cardinal George Pell gets his day in court.
Only 1 in 10 cases on appeal to the Supreme court of Australia. get to be heard. Pell’s case made the cut thank God!
Now let’s see what a full bench of Federal Judges make of this Victoria State court of appeals Kangaroo Court travesty of justice.
🙂
In the meantime Cardinal Pell has been locked up isolation for 9 months, denied full access to visitors and very limited access to his lawyers, kept in solitary confinement, denied the ability to say Mass or receive communion and spends his time in his assigned job pulling weeds from the prison yard whenever it is empty. At least now he actually gets out of his cell occasionally to do this job. The State of Victoria (the Peoples’ Socialist Republik of Victoria) ( akin to Ca on steroids)is a cruel place for anyone that they perceive as their ideological enemy!
@ Aussie Infidel:
i’m starting to think that people are liberals because they have not had enough hardship and pain and difficulty in their lives. it’s easy to gaze at one’s navel when one has enough calories to eat and clean water to drink
when life is easy, humans lose their minds.

I expect to see a lawsuit to have it removed. By the Tourism Board.
And so the Schiffty sh*tshow begins this morning. So….russian collusion didn’t work; obstruction didn’t work, quid pro quo didn’t work; extortion is apparently not flying, so the new word is bribery.
Of course, there isn’t a WORD in that transcript that says “I’ll GIVE you this if you do that.” There isn’t a WORD in that transcript that says “I WON’T give you this if you DON’T do that.”
However, we do have a really cool videotape that says “you have six hours to fire the prosecutor or I’m leaving here with the money.” Wonder if Schiffty is working overtime to get Trump’s head photoshopped in.
I’m keeping my earphones in my ears this morning. My office is right next to the break room and the TV shares my wall. I know the cheering libturds in my office will have the hearings on full volume and wander in and out to watch.
Music or Andy Wilkow? I’m thinking music. Lots of Vivaldi.
@ The Barbarian:
I am not at all sanguine that this goes to the Senate to die. The rules for conviction there are risible. Two thirds of the members present/votes cast. 6 Senators could show up, 4 vote yes, done.
Grassley is sending out tweets about the AWOL IG report, wants a leaker, andy leaker, to please contact him to tell him IF the rpt will EVER be released.
They are not going thru this shit show in the House for nothing.
@ eaglesoars:
Of course, if any indictments come down from the IG or Durham reports, the claim is going to be this is all nothing but revenge by Trump against the Mueller investigation.
Saw on Twitter that the every GOP subpoena was denied by Schiff.
Bill Taylor is the lead-off witness? The one who’s only contribution to this whole affair is his being the last person in a game of State Department Telephone?
Steve Castor is handling the questioning for the GOP for the hearings apparently. I understand the “prosecutor” for the Dems is an idiot who believes that the Mueller Report shows collusion.
I’ve stuck up a new thread for today Ringling Bros. extravaganza.
