Note to Nancy Pelosi – Rush got it right.
The right to a “FAIR” trial inures to the DEFENDANT, not the PROSECUTOR. You knew your jury pool when you VOTED on this garbage.

  2. 3 | December 23, 2019 10:54 am

Excellent analysis of the state of the law on that score. Hearing on Twitter than Nancy is “relenting” and is going to send the articles to the Senate. This could prove interesting because Trump wants a “trial.” And I really don’t blame him. EVERY piece of testimony that was proffered at the House level was against him and one ONE witness was brought forward (Jonathan Turley) on his behalf. GOP not permitted to either bring a witness or in many cases not permitted to question the Democrat witnesses.

One can only wonder what the numbers favoring impeachment would be if the public was actually offered witnesses on the President’s behalf. I still think it is especially important that the weaselblower explain himself, especially in light of the fact that his specifics of the phone call do not remotely resemble the transcript. Therefore, it needs to be known WHO told him about the phone call (my money says Vindman, who pushed him to make the complaint so that Vindman could continue to spy on Trump; also Vindman attempted to go back in and make alterations to the transcript of the call and was rebuffed).

Photo on Twitter of First Lady Melania rockin’ leather pants and a jacket.

That woman could rock an outfit made of Pillsbury flour sacks. Whereas her predecessor made designer outfits look like they were.

One thing I did notice about this impeachment BS. In my office, when Schiffty was running his hearings, they had CNN on in the lunchroom. My office wall is literally shared with the TV so I kept my earphones on or my iPhone speaker turned up.

By the time they got to the No-Nads hearings, they weren’t watching anymore. Hell, the day of the impeachment vote NO ONE talked about it, and nothing was on the TV. Even after, no one was talking about it, even the ones that couldn’t stop snarking about impeachment.

They know this is a farce.

I’m having 2nd thoughts about calling witnesses at a trial. I’m thinking Lindsey Graham has it right. Shut it down fast.

Because I don’t trust Roberts as far as I can spit.

    oh ffs

NY gov blocks some federal judges from officiating at weddings — because they might be Trump nominees

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has vetoed a non-controversial bipartisan bill that would have allowed all federal judges to officiate weddings in the state because some might have been nominated to the bench by President Donald Trump.

“I cannot in good conscience support legislation that would authorize such actions by federal judges who are appointed by this federal administration,” Cuomo’s veto message stated, the New York Post reported.

“President Trump does not embody who we are as New Yorkers,” the Democratic governor added on Friday. “The cornerstones that built our great state are diversity, tolerance, and inclusion. Based on these reasons, I must veto this bill.”

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ny-gov-blocks-some-federal-judges-from-officiating-at-weddings-%E2%80%94-because-they-might-be-trump-nominees/ar-BBYgXNa?ocid=News

Hubby’s son lives in NY. He owns several Dominoes pizza franchises. He said that energy bills are now so high he doesn’t know if he can stay in business. Along with the taxes. All because Cuomo won’t allow fracking.

  7. 8 | December 23, 2019 12:56 pm

    @ eaglesoars

True. But the Chief Justice’s role is largely symbolic. Mark Levin had Ken Starr on his show last night and he said during the Clinton impeachment Reinquist pretty much just sat there. In that fancy robe he had made. I was completely embarrassed for him on that one. Plus, any rulings made by Roberts can be overturned by a majority of the Senate. Although with Collins, Romney and Murkowski running around. I’m not sure we’d have it, but I think Joe Manchin knows which side of the political bread his butter is on.

I’m assuming the GOP is allowed their House Managers as well on the President’s behalf. Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz and Mark Meadows – COME ON DOWN! Plus in the Senate we have Cruz – whatever else he may be the man is blistering in examination.

And who do the Democrats have? Booker and Harris?

I think another reason Pelousy is worried about the Senate trial is that up to now, there has been NO submission of any exculpatory evidence for Trump – which I suspect is the reason that the impeachment polls (such as they are) remain where they are. The media and Democrats have somehow been able to frame the issue that Trump is hiding documents and witnesses (obstruction) without also advising that he is asking for a court’s ruling on it. I imagine if the Court finds against him, documents and witnesses will be proffered.

However, when those Democrat house managers start getting grilled in the Senate, they are going to be stumbling. Carried live, the American people will see precisely what a farce this is. Of course, Schiffty is, I imagine, adamant that he be the lead Manager for the House. He is seriously living in a dream world if he thinks he’ll come out of the Senate trial looking good.

Peter Beck chatting about Rocket Labs plans for 2020 including the Moon Shot and Recovery Mission. Interesting commentary on the test on recovering Stage #1 of the Electron rocket by helicopter whilst the stage floats under a parafoil for return to the launch site or refurbishment site.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLab/

Alas they didn’t get into the automated manufacturing using ‘Rosie the Robot’, that fabricates a rocket body and all of the drillings and housings in just 12 hours instead of months.

The Photon Third stage with the Curie engine allows Rocket Labs to VERY accurately position a satellite in a chosen specific orbit rather than just kicking all the satellites over the side and letting them disperse in a single orbit. The Photon also has the ability to place a micro-satellite in a Geo-stationary orbit a world first for a small indel=pendant launch provider. Tis ability also has the capability to use a very long burn to slowly lift a small Moon Lander into a higher and higher orbit until it breaks free of Earth’s gravity and s-l-o-w-l-y cruises to the Moon for Moon gravitational capture and a controlled landing. Probably near the Mon’s South Pole where there is known deposited of water ice under the dust. The Lander will ‘pogo’ across the surface until it finds a suitable site to ‘go dig’, take a sample and then launch for a return to Earth for recovery.

Rocket Labs…. the ‘lil rocket that could!

Rocket Labs Flight #10 (Running out of Fingers) launch carried 6 micro-satellites about 2″ x 2″ x 2″ from a Scottish satellite company plus a 75 Kg Japanese satellite made of stacked nominal 4″ cubesats They got goo telemetry from the 1st Stage as it re-entered against ‘the wall’ of atmosphere and survives just fine. It didn’t carry a parachute not hypersonic baloots this time. That will happen on test #11 and possibly launch #12 as well before recovery will become ‘stab=ndard from about March 2020 onwards.Launch frequency is now up to monthly and fortnightly by 2021 from the two operational launch sites the NZ Mahia Peninsula and the new Wallops Island launch site off Virginia. There is a third launch site near Fairbanks AL. A second NZ launch site at the Mahia Peninsula facility in NZ planned for 2022 too. That’ll give Rocket Labs the ability to launch weekly.

holy crap. Tennessee here we come!

Democrats Seek To Outlaw Suburban, Single-Family House Zoning, Calling It Racist And Bad For The Environment

Democrats in Virginia may override local zoning to bring high-density housing, including public housing, to every neighborhood statewide — whether residents want it or not.
    .
    .
House Delegate Ibraheem Samirah, a Democrat, introduced six housing measures Dec. 19, coinciding with Democrats’ takeover of the state legislature in November.

“Single-family housing zones would become two-zoned,” Samirah told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Areas that would be impacted most would be the suburbs that have not done their part in helping out.”[aka ‘get whitey’]
    .
    .
He tweeted Sunday that that would include public housing. “Important Q about new social/public housing programs: where are we going to put the units? Under current zoning, new low-income housing is relegated to underinvested neighborhoods, concentrating poverty more. Ending exclusionary zoning has to be part of broader housing reform,”

As someone who lived in public housing I can tell everyone all that this does is redistribute crime. It doesn’t actually increase access to public housing or help anyone. It doesn’t change the actual concentrations of poverty either. It just changes the locations of the poverty. The main thing that occurs is that it alters the city’s crime statistics so they no longer are concentrated in democrat controlled districts. It also redistributes democrat voters into republican neighborhoods. The can call it racist all they want but by increasing the crime rates in the neighborhoods that did not have public housing previously will push out the previous residents making the areas majority democrat. Ensuring that the dems control both the inner city and suburbs for eternity.

It’s actually quite brilliant in it’s evil intent.

Meanwhile, in Puerto Rico, of all places:

Puerto Rico Enacts Pro-gun Overhaul of Firearms Laws

The 3.5 million residents of the Unites States’ largest territory will soon be able to better exercise their Second Amendment rights. On December 11, Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vazquez Garced signed the Puerto Rico Weapons Act of 2020. The legislation overhauled the territory’s gun laws in a manner that will make it easier for the island’s residents and visitors to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

The legislation’s most important provisions pertain to the territory’s firearms licensing procedure. Prior to the enactment of the Weapons Act, Puerto Ricans could apply for a possession license, or a much harder to obtain carry license. The Weapons Act combines the two licenses into a single license.

Moreover, this single license will be shall-issue. Previously, Puerto Ricans were required to petition a court for the approval of a carry permit. The legislation also puts in place a flat $200 initial licensing fee, and a $100 renewal fee. This is a significant improvement over the old regime, where firearm licensing fees could range wildly.

Americans on the mainland are also set to benefit from Puerto Rico’s new gun laws. The legislation sets forth that Puerto Rico will recognize Right-to-Carry permits issued in the rest of the U.S.

    @ Deplorable Martian Overlord:
We just moved from a neighborhood we called ‘hood adjacent’, and don’t want the problems we had there.

Sure a lot of our neighbors were nice enough, but with as many rental properties as there were, things were neglected, the renters didn’t always do what they needed to, and we had problems with crime and quality of living. One place burned down about 15 years ago and was never rebuilt. Another house had its siding damaged when a trailer full of leaves caught fire 3 years ago and it hasn’t been repaired. And a third house has gutters that have been falling off for years. That place almost looks abandoned.

The final straw for Mrs RW was when a guy stopped his car in front of the neighbor’s place, got out, and peed in the middle of the street in broad daylight. He didn’t even go around to the side facing the golf course. I know that doesn’t happen in every poor area, but damn!

A good crust needs a hit of steam in a high heat environment. For example at work. We preheat the oven to 400 Farhenheit and then pop the bread in. Steam it for a few seconds and the heat drops to about 370. Bake at 375 for about 24 minutes (convection oven) and you get a crackled dark crust for an italian/french style loaf.

Just finished my Christmas shopping. Well, actually I just started it today. My Christmas shopping list is not very long.

An 18 pack of Fancy Feast.

A 6 pack of toilet paper. (the soft fluffy kind, a Christmas treat )

A 30 pack of Miller High Life.

Two bottles of the cheapest red wine Walmart has. Oakleaf Merlot at $2.97 a bottle, one gone already.

There is enough left overs in the fridge and freezer to keep me going until Thursday.

    LOL. I hate Christmas.

Great full Latin Gregorian Sung Mass this morning at Te Atatu…. It was worth a 5AM start and an 84 Km trip up to Auckland and then back down to the beach this morning.

County jail in Iowa charges, or did charge when I was there $30 per day.

Getting locked up on Saturday night was not so bad though. Sunday there was no kitchen staff so food was brought in from outside restaurants. Sunday breakfast was awesome so was I was told.

So, I am all for prisoners working and when they do work having room and meals at a reasonable rate deducted. Rest they keep.

Incarceration is a punishment, but also the rehabilitation aspect has to be considered.

I am sure someone here can comment as they know more about this than I do.
