Romney has always been a dick with ears, including his stint at Bain Capital.
Private equity creates no new wealth or jobs. Employees get callously terminated and guys like Mitt get to pose for pictures with a cigar in his. mouth and cash falling out of his pockets. I have seen it up close and personal.

      Hi Rix, how are things?

Yeah, I remember CW calling Romney/Bain ‘vulture capitalists’

So, yinz know about that law that went into effect in California, AB5, that killed independent contractors, etc. It was backed by unions. There is now a corollary bill in the U.S. House, HR2474 that does the same thing nationally AND kills right-to-work in 27 states.

And guess who wrote it up? A Dem from Virginia, one Bobby Scott

Here’s the article, there’s a link to the bill there.

I don’t know that they’re actively deflating – I know that part of the reporting procedure is that no numbers can be reported until the numbers get to some central unit (to avoid double counting). Another thing I wondered is – how many people died of this before it was even recognized? And how many are dying in rural areas undiagnosed? I’m not sure it’s even possible to get an accurate count, but I do understand why the counts come in ‘spurts’.

I love that all the Senators are saying “based on the Bolton manuscript.” Uh, you have not seen the Bolton manuscript. All you’ve seen are various leaks about what might be IN the manuscript (which I am sure were provided by the twin brother of Lt. Col. Teletubby).

Now that this video is leaked, Bolton’s BS tell-all is looking more and more like a revenge book for being kicked out of the WH by Trump. BTW, Levin said on his show that Bolton presumed on a lot of friendships like Levin (and Rush and Hannity too, I’ll bet) to get Trump to hire him.

Trump has said, if I’m getting the words correctly, that if he’d listened to Bolton we’d be in WWVI by now. I think Bolton thought he’d join the staff and throw his “gravitas” weight around and found out that the King of the Hill was sitting in the Oval Office.

      some light reading

      https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2019AV000133

      Abstract

Auroral forms are like fingerprints linking optical features to physical phenomena in the near‐Earth space. While discovering new forms is rare, recently, scientists reported of citizens’ observations of STEVE, a pinkish optical manifestation of subauroral ionospheric drifts that were not thought to be visible to the naked eye. Here, we present a new auroral form named “the dunes”. On 7 October 2018, citizen observers took multiple digital photographs of the same dunes simultaneously from different locations in Finland and Sweden. We develop a triangulation method to analyze the photographs and conclude that the dunes are a monochromatic wave field with a wavelength of about 45 km within a thin layer at 100 km altitude. Supporting data suggest that the dunes manifest atmospheric waves, possibly mesospheric bores, which are rarely detected, and have not previously been observed via diffuse aurora nor at auroral latitudes and altitudes. The dunes present a new opportunity to investigate the coupling of the lower/middle atmosphere to the thermosphere and ionosphere. Our paper adds to the growing body of work that illustrates the value of citizen scientist images in carrying out quantitative analysis of optical phenomena, especially at small scales at subauroral latitudes. Further, the dune project presents means to create general interest toward physics, emphasizing that citizens can take part in scientific work by helping to uncover new phenomena.

Publication is set for March 17th. Hell of a ways away. It’s No. 1 in Kindle preorder in Political Science (how do you “preorder” KINDLE?); No. 84 overall.
You may be right on the publisher’s publicity, hoping to jin up the preorders on Amazon.

The trouble is, of course, this will now have peaked. No one is going to care about Bolton after impeachment. Conservatives aren’t going to buy his book, Never Trumpers already hate him and liberals aren’t going to care once Trump is acquitted.

I guess they forgot that preorders may be good but in the end since delivery is almost two months away, you have plenty of time to CANCEL.

      God

You have got to see this.

this is one of our Virginia delegates who wants to kill our 2A rights, answering the question of what makes a gun an ‘assault weapon’.

Levine said, “In terms of the differences of the guns, the heart of the difference is how you hold the gun. It makes it a semi-automatic.” He showed his trigger finger moving, and added, “meaning you can shoot with each finger, not like a bolt action” rifle typically used in hunting.

It gets worse – or better, I guess, and thank you, God, there’s video of the entire hysterical performance.

We are being ruled by the mentally deficient. Everywhere

Six suspected drug dealers who are accused of running a $7 million fentanyl distribution operation out of a Bronx apartment were released without bail under the state’s new criminal justice law early Wednesday.

The suspects — Livo Valdez, Jaslin Baldera, Frederick Baldera, Frandi Ledema, Diego Tejada and Parfraimy Antonio — were arrested Monday when officers with the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force raided an apartment on Sedgwick Avenue in Kingsbridge that was allegedly used as a heroin and fentanyl packaging mill.

It’s being noticed that the House Managers have scripted “answers” at the ready to the Democrat Senators’ questions, including video geared up to go. My guess is that they wrote out the questions and had them distributed to the Senators on what to ask them.

As far as “Right To Work”, This is America. In my mind workers should be allowed to organize, but also be free not to.

      This is delicious

EU anthem Ode to Joy is currently basking in the number one spot thanks to a campaign spearheaded by Lib Dem MEP Caroline Voaden who has been urging people to download the song using one of the online music stores. But Brexiteers have responded with a mission to get the pro-Leave song 17 Million F*ck-Offs to top spot this Friday, the day the Britain formally leaves the bloc.

The X-rated song was recorded by writer and comedian Dominic Frisby who plans to donate any profits to charity. It can be bought on Amzaon and iTunes.

wait. Something’s up. General Michael Flynn case

Yesterday or today Sidney Powell amended her filing to note that Flynn did not lie to the FBI and the reason he pleaded guilty was because his counsel was not just ineffective but had serious conflicts of interest, and that he is in fact INNOCENT

The gov’t had been pushing for jail time, AFTER agreeing to probation, because they got pissed off at Sidney for asking to drop the plea and so they tried to pull a FUCK YOU BITCH

So everybody’s waiting for various deadlines, now the prosecutors pop up with this: They’re back to offering probation.

Ex. Special Counsel prosecutor in Flynn case in major climbdown and now agrees that Flynn should NOT go to jail and get probation instead. Sounds like they want this case to be over and are giving the Judge and Flynn an off ramp on the same day Flynn says he’s innocent

An atheist was walking through the woods. ‘What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!’ he said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look and saw a seven foot grizzly bear charge towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.

At that instant the atheist cried out ‘Oh my God!’
      Time stopped.
      The bear froze.
      The forest was silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. ‘You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don’t exist and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?’ The atheist looked directly into the light: ‘It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the bear a Christian?’

      ‘Very well’ said the voice.

      The light went out.
The sounds of the forest resumed.

And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head and spoke: ‘Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.’

stolen from ‘JCM’ at zip’s place

lights out for me too, nite.

There Drudge spoke of Trump in near-heroic terms, calling him “one of the most fascinating Americans that has ever lived in the modern era.” He said he suspected that the new president was the victim of “sabotage” from Congress and worried Hillary Clinton might win the presidency in 2020.

EXCLUSIVE: Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page filed a lawsuit Thursday in federal court against the Democratic National Committee, law firm Perkins Coie and its partners tied to the funding of the unverified dossier that served as the basis for highly controversial surveillance warrants against him.

The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Illinois’ Eastern Division Thursday morning, and was described by his attorneys as the “first of multiple actions in the wake of historic” Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) abuse.

Now I KNOW the one about New Orleans isn’t true. You hear car doors slamming, garbage can lids being slammed, doors being slammed and water dripping from the a.c. unit in the window. Also, the neighbors’ toilets flushing. Once in a while, you’ll hear Lorraine or her husband Chead (NOT a mis-spelling), swearing as they fall back down the front steps they were walking up and then one of them trips over Granny’s rocker on the front porch.
