Mrs Coldwarrior and I were out on a date. We were at riverside brewery. We walked out to the lot, a rather brave 20 something and his girl could not get their 1979 MGB started.

I asked for a matchbook and a beer. i had a mallet and a Philips screw driver in the Benz.

enjoy this open.

I fixed their car.

Why did I ask for a matchbook.

The Democrats want your vote but despise you.
A rough draft of the platform has 15 references to “whites” , all negative references.
All references to minority’s are upper case, but lower case for “whites”
Is there any doubt that they hate you and want you destroyed?

    @ RIX:

We will root out systemic racism from our military justice system, where black service members are twice as likely as white ones to face court-martial.

Of course, when you look at that statistic in the context of the overall criminal justice system, the military justice system is apparently far less “racist” than the civilian one. Blacks are about 5 times more likely than whites to be sent to prison in the civilian world.

I wonder if they considered the possibility that blacks in the military are less likely to be criminals than their civilian counterparts?

Protesters have gathered outside the home of Chad Wolf, acting secretary of Homeland Security. They are here to protest against DHS sending federal agents to Portland after rioters continue to target the federal courthouse in the city.

    @ RIX:

They certainly make no secret of their plans to drastically change gun ownership in America:

Ending the Epidemic of Gun Violence

Gun violence is a public health crisis in the United States. Nearly 40,000 people die annually from guns—devastating countless families, friends, and communities. Addressing the gun violence crisis requires supporting evidence-based programs that prevent gun deaths from occurring in the first place, including by making mental health care more accessible, funding interventions to reduce homicides and gun violence in neighborhoods, and strengthening protections against domestic violence. Democrats will also ensure the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have sufficient resources to study gun violence as a public health issue.

Democrats will enact universal background checks, end online sales of guns and ammunition, close dangerous loopholes that currently allow stalkers and some individuals convicted of assault or battery to buy and possess firearms, and adequately fund the federal background check system. We will close the “Charleston loophole” and prevent individuals who have been convicted of hate crimes from possessing firearms. Democrats will ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high capacity magazines. We will incentivize states to enact licensing requirements for owning firearms and “red flag” laws that allow courts to temporarily remove guns from the possession of those who are a danger to themselves or others. We will pass legislation requiring that guns be safely stored in homes. And Democrats believe that gun companies should be held responsible for their products, just like any other business, and will prioritize repealing the law that shields gun manufacturers from civil liability.

What’s interesting is that the incarceration rate for blacks is consistently about 5 times that of whites, nationwide. Here in NM, blacks are about 2% of the population, but account for 10% of inmates.

If it was just a few places (the deep south, for example), you might attribute it to “systemic racism,” but it’s nationwide.

That leads me to believe that the problem is behavioral, not within the criminal justice system.

    This is delicious.

It’s interesting to watch idiot politicians set out to destroy a city. In fairness, the idiot politicians were elected by idiot voters, so, we must conclude that these voters are getting what they voted for.

Being of less than surpassing intelligence, they vote for the political party that promises to support and care for them. And they discover that the very same political party believes that the best way to do it is through higher taxes on the rich. Since they are not rich they are all for taxing other people. But then when the rich start fleeing the high tax state, the voters who believed that they had voted themselves a living suddenly discover that the goose has stopped laying the golden eggs. So, naturally, they blame Donald Trump.

    QED

New York Democrats Want To Tax Stock Trades As State Revenues Plummet

I’m sure there are at least a few idiots who believe that. Probably the same ones who think there will be world peace if only the US military is disbanded.

The forces behind the scenes, though, know what will happen if law-abiding Americans are disarmed, and they’re counting on it. They want the suburbs to fall into anarchy, because they believe it will lead to calls for more police state tactics in response.

I keep laughing at the Dems who are screaming about Trump deploying federal agents to various places. They actually love the idea. They’re just pissed because they aren’t in charge of them.

    Senator Shannon Grove

The Governor of California has now put in writing what he constitutes as a meal where you can order alcohol… Yep, he’s now going to tell you what you can and cannot eat for a meal.
No more crackers and wine, no more beer and wings!
What have they said is required to be considered a “meal”?
The Department has issued a variety of regulatory relief measures that require the service of a meal. (See, Law and Policy Coronavirus 19 Notices of Relief, items 5 and 16; June 10, 2020, Industry Advisory; and various Frequently Asked Questions.) This Advisory provides guidance as to what servings of food licensees must prepare and offer to comply with this requirement.
Business and Professions Code section 23038 provides that, “Meals” means the usual assortment of foods commonly ordered at various hours of the day; the service of such food and victuals only as sandwiches or salads shall not be deemed a compliance with this requirement.”
Given the tremendous variety of foods available at the many different licensed premises, this definition provides the necessary flexibility to look at the totality of the circumstances in determining whether or not the food service provided by a licensee is a legitimate offering of meals in a bona fide manner. In evaluating this, the Department generally looks at the various menu offerings, availability during typical meal hours, and whether the food offered is served in a reasonable quantity and what a reasonable person might consider being a meal consumed at breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
For example, although multiple courses are not required to constitute a meal, in order for the patron to be served a meal there should be a sufficient quantity that would constitute the main course in a multiple-course dining experience.
It is often easier to describe what does not constitute a bona fide meal. In that regard, while the statute excludes mere offerings of sandwiches and salad, the Department does recognize that many sandwiches and salads are substantial and can constitute legitimate meals. Once again, the Department looks at the totality of circumstances and generally considers that pre-packaged sandwiches and salads would not typically meet this standard. In addition, the Department will presume that the following, and offerings similar to them, do not meet the meal requirement:
Snacks such as pretzels, nuts, popcorn, pickles, and chips.
Food ordinarily served as appetizers or first courses such
as cheese sticks, fried calamari, chicken wings, pizza bites
(as opposed to pizza), egg rolls, potstickers, flautas, cups of
soup, and any small portion of a dish that may constitute
the main course when it is not served in a full portion or
when it is intended for sharing in small portions.
Side dishes such as bread, rolls, French fries, onion rings,
small salads (green, potato, macaroni, fruit), rice,
mashed potatoes, and small portions of vegetables.
    Reheated refrigerated or frozen entrees.
    Desserts.

    Wow.

Nah, no one around here even thinks Durham has a case. The Legal Eagles on the interwebz all seem to take the same point of view as Bumr – that Durham is holding off because he doesn’t want to be seen as “influencing the election.”

To which I say BULLSH*T. The man running for President was the Vice President during the period when this coup was hatched. He sat in on the meetings and if reports are correct, not only KNEW what was going on, but actively participated in the criminal PERsecution of a careeer patriot because of what he knew. The American people have every right to know the extent to which the Obama Administration/FBI/DOJ did before casting a vote for this cretinous POS in November.

Maybe if a few people were given the Paul Manafort/Roger Stone treatment the media might actually be forced to deal with the realities.

    This is how it’s done

A heartening story out of the UK, in which a man who was ousted from his position as the head of an ‘anti-social behavior reduction’ charity after he sharply criticized Black Lives Matter has been reinstated. Not only that, every member of the craven board of trustees who voted to remove him has now been jettisoned, as part of a deal to avoid promised, costly litigation.

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in a newly surfaced video from 2015 that she and her fellow organizers are “trained Marxists” – making clear their movement’s ideological foundation, according to a report. Cullors, 36, was the protégé of Eric Mann, former agitator of the Weather Underground domestic terror organization, and spent years absorbing the Marxist-Leninist ideology that shaped her worldview,

To be a fair stand-up boxing match in a 24-foot ring, or as near that size as practicable.
    No wrestling allowed.
The rounds to be of three minutes’ duration, and one minute’s time between rounds.
If either man falls through weakness or otherwise, he must get up unassisted, 10 seconds to be allowed him to do so, the other man meanwhile to return to his corner, and when the fallen man is on his legs the round is to be resumed and continued until the three minutes have expired. If one man fails to come to the scratch in the 10 seconds allowed, it shall be in the power of the referee to give his award in favour of the other man.
A man hanging on the ropes in a helpless state, with his toes off the ground, shall be considered down.
No seconds or any other person to be allowed in the ring during the rounds.
Should the contest be stopped by any unavoidable interference, the referee to name the time and place as soon as possible for finishing the contest; so that the match must be won and lost, unless the backers of both men agree to draw the stakes.
The gloves to be fair-sized boxing gloves of the best quality and new.
Should a glove burst, or come off, it must be replaced to the referee’s satisfaction.
A man on one knee is considered down and if struck is entitled to the stakes.

I think there is more corruption than we even know about Pedo Joe, who has been able to slide under the radar until that Ukraine incident. Now we find out his brother was a grifter on the taxpayer dime and there’s some funny business regarding a cancer charity. John Solomon seems to have a lot of dirt on Pedo, but the MSM isn’t interested because, you known, Trump may have deducted a painting or something.

I would not be surprised to find out that Bo also got some sweet deals thanks to Daddy’s Senate Commmittee connections – we don’t just know about it.

Thoughtful questions, and guests that are out of the mainstream that he (unlike Hannity) allows to present a fully thought-out answer.

However, on the radio, he blows his horn so much and so loudly that you’d think the show was being hosted by Miles Davis. It may come as a complete surprise to him that others have come to similar conclusions all on their own and are NOT stealing from him.

    @ darkwords:

The Agenda of Black Lives Matter Is Far Different From the Slogan

Companies that don’t do this hard work are providing air cover for a destructive movement and compelling their employees, shareowners and customers to endorse the same. Just ask BLM leaders Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal TometiIn a revealing 2015 interview, Cullors said, “Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists.” That same year, Tometi was hobnobbing with Venezuela’s Marxist dictator Nicolás Maduro, of whose regime she wrote: “In these last 17 years, we have witnessed the Bolivarian Revolution champion participatory democracy and construct a fair, transparent election system recognized as among the best in the world.”

Millions of Venezuelans suffering under Maduro’s murderous misrule presumably couldn’t be reached for comment.

Visit the Black Lives Matter website, and the first frame you get is a large crowd with fists raised and the slogan “Now We Transform.” Read the list of demands, and you get a sense of how deep a transformation they seek.

One proclaims: “We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear-family-structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and ‘villages’ that collectively care for one another.”

A partner organization, the Movement for Black Lives, or M4BL, calls for abolishing all police and all prisons. It also calls for a “progressive restructuring of tax codes at the local, state and federal levels to ensure a radical and sustainable redistribution of wealth.”

Another M4BL demand is “the retroactive decriminalization, immediate release and record expungement of all drug-related offenses and prostitution and reparations for the devastating impact of the ‘war on drugs’ and criminalization of prostitution.”

This agenda isn’t what most people signed up for when they bought their Spanx or registered for Airbnb. Nor is it what most people understood when they expressed sympathy with the slogan that Black Lives Matter.

Not her fault. Julia Child is non-portrayable.

And to be clear, Julia was obnoxious in her own right. Adorably so, but she was. I have all her books and I’ve cooked from them. She was anything but a snob. And as much as she tried to be ‘practical’, she simply was not.

Her vaunted dinner of some fish or whatever it was that turned her on to cooking had nothing to do with anything normal people have resources for. Her famous scrambled egg revelation – my Mimi (grandmother) already knew that.

Julia Child hit a nexus of media. She was wonderful and I’m glad it was her instead of someone else. But this whole idea that you have to steam your oven to create ‘real’ french bread – hi, sweetheart, bye.

As you might expect…my research has been as thorough as the current resources allow.

She was an idiot in that she allowed herself to be flattered by the attention of the future king. She never thought he would find her someone he could not live without. Because frankly, who would have? Have you heard her voice? Shoot me now. There is nothing beautiful or charming about her visage unless you watch the videos.

And then it’s entirely about her personality. This woman was FUN.

Did she love him? No. She pitied him. Which is exactly what he needed.Wallis got stuck. I will leave the whole “Nazi” thing for another time. They are innocent of the worst, but completely guilty of being naive beyond belief. If there is any evidence that he knew of the Marburg papers, I am unaware of it. Edward was a moron but he in no way deserved the treatment he got from the monarchy. The Queen Mother went to her grave blaming Wallis when it was never her fault – because that gave the crown a legitimacy it would not otherwise have. Couldn’t have her daughter Elizabeth tainted, now could we?

It’s not just in politics it’s all over. I have been blessed to work for some of the most brilliant minds in my industry. Smart, clever, very innovative solutions to some very difficult problems. … and most of these people are just down to earth people. My company is full of absolute geniuses and I don’t say that lightly. However, it is run by idiots. The people running the company see the most pressing problems right now as the pandemic and the criticality of people wearing masks if they have to work on site and having as many people work from home as possible and racism. Never mind that the only racism where I work is anti-caucasian male discrimination. Never mind that they hoisted the rainbow flag last year. No, diversity and inclusion are going to be the future of the company. Customer satisfaction and meeting customer needs? That’s a distant third, if not fourth behind making sure that our processes are rigidly followed and that everything we do is done with our company’s core values in mind.
