i was struck by the lyrics…

First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect
Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect
You live you life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
You say you want to spend the winter in Firenza
You’re so afraid to catch a dose of influenza
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
Canary in a coalmine
Canary in a coalmine
Canary in a coalmine
Now if I tell you that you suffer from delusions
You pay your analyst to reach the same conclusions
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
Canary in a coalmine
Canary in a coalmine
Canary in a coalmine
First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect
Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect
You live your life like a canary in a coalmine
You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line
Canary in a coalmine

I don’t think the lavish spending is news to a lot of people. A lot of folks I know are either GOA or unaffiliated.

Not that the NRAs lobbying power isn’t a significant bulwark for the Second Amendment, but I don’t think this is the attempted attack a lot of Leftists think it is.

Didn’t she say she intends to take down the NRA? She’s an idiot, every illegal act she cited was committed by Wayne LaPierre w/NRA the financial victim. And it’s no accident that Deutsche Bank just turned over some Trump financial records. This is just about Trump and trying to get him. That idiot AG doesn’t realize she just made an in-kind contribution to his campaign

Somebody at the Atlantic has what looks like a very interesting article on the immune system/immunology.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/08/covid-19-immunity-is-the-pandemics-central-mystery/614956/

There’s a joke about immunology, which Jessica Metcalf of Princeton recently told me. An immunologist and a cardiologist are kidnapped. The kidnappers threaten to shoot one of them, but promise to spare whoever has made the greater contribution to humanity. The cardiologist says, “Well, I’ve identified drugs that have saved the lives of millions of people.” Impressed, the kidnappers turn to the immunologist. “What have you done?” they ask. The immunologist says, “The thing is, the immune system is very complicated …” And the cardiologist says, “Just shoot me now.”

Immunology Is Where Intuition Goes to Die

But the latest look was inspired by these Joe Rogan podcasts. Several interviewees described how messed up their lives became when they saw porn at a young age. I had never really thought about it in depth. His podcasts also talk about young girls should have social media accounts delayed.

All this internet is stressing young kids out. There is some bad parenting there for sure. I don’t have a solution.

I stayed agnostic about Fauci for a long time. I didn’t post a lot of what I saw – mostly about somebody named Markowitz I think – a woman who claims Fauci ruined her career and others who have been posting that Fauci and Birx have been investigated for fraud. I used to hang out in the ‘big science’ world of NHI princes (Nobel prize families royalty type thing) and I saw the blood letting up close. Neils Bohr’s son knew me on sight and teased me about my hair. It can be a vicious world. One reason I did’t marry him.

There is no doubt that whatever problems anyone else has had with Fauci, he has lied. I’m not sure about Birx, but there is zero doubt about Fauci. All I can tell you is that I’m fairly confident that whatever swooning he may receive in the media, his reputation in science is ruined. They’ll let him go quietly, he’ll keep the grants he has (bringing in grant money is a metric of success in that world) but no papers will seek his name or imprimatur.

@TeamTrump is the campaign, right? So Twitter is interfering with the campaign and the election process. I don’t think that content providers get to sit in judgment on the veracity of claims made by politicians without being considered to be working for the opposition party. Trust me. It is anything but polite. I spent an evening at a ‘party’ with Donald Johanson, who discovered ‘Lucy’. Bar none, he is the most insufferable creep I have ever met and I’ve met a lot in that world. They LIVE to tear each other down in the world of publishing and while they’re not doing that, they sleep with each other’s spouses. People think James Watson is a misogynist because of his team’s treatment of Rosalind Franklin and some recent comments but Watson is a kitten compared to most of them.

I asked him what he thought about the theory of punctuated equilibrium, an idea promulgated by Stephen Jay Gould. Gould was a paleontologist and popular science writer. But BECAUSE it was an idea ‘popularized’ by the likes of Gould, Johanson couldn’t lower himself to consider it because everything he touched had to be beyond the ken of the peasantry.

But still worthwhile. I think it’s very hard for people to deal with. I can’t handle animal abuse, I don’t need it in my head, I would go full Terminator. Cory Feldman tried to leverage the me-too thing to get people to look at child abuse in Hollywood, maybe the Epstein thing has advanced that a bit.

But my understanding is that a lot of porn is about abuse.

I have seen ‘adult’ movies that was simply adult sex on film and frankly found it idiotic. I have no issue with media that people find sexually stimulating, a lot of art throughout history is dedicated to that. Half of what’s been discovered at Pompeii is about phallic art and copulation.

But it’s all consenting human adults. Anything other than that, and I’m a VERY good shot.

Not that I think by itself it would do any good, but I think it would be educational for Jack Dorsey to be hit every morning by a new lawsuit and just be overwhelmed by the consequences of his own hubris. Eric Weinstein has some interesting ideas as well, despite being “left of center” and having a disdain for Trump.

The Overton Window has shifted so far, that the “right/left” paradigm we’ve understood no longer applies, IMHO.

There’s also a societally negative connotation with describing oneself as “right leaning” or “right wing” that’s been reinforced through popular cultural, with almost zero pushback until very recently.

Don’t know Rogan. Adams is sane. I cannot stomach Althouse. It’s not that she voted for Obama, it’s that she voted for him TWICE and was agonizing about it 3 weeks out from the 2012 election. Gimme a break.

Althouse can be a tough read sometimes. She has a word based intellect that is pretty different from me. I like to see how she interprets the world.

She had a lot of trouble with the conception of Antifa. Thinking it doesn’t exist except in the minds of the right. Her commenters are maybe 80 percent conservative? She called BS on all of them and they called back.

Adams always predicts my reaction to his commentary in advance. So I am always getting trolled by him. I find it interesting that he has that skill.

Rogan is similar to Althouse but focuses on mixed martial arts, science, hunting, and drugs. His podcasts with scientists are probably the best ones.

Trucking Co. Won’t Deliver in Cities Pushing to Defund, Disband Police Departments

    https://www.ntd.com/jkc-trucking-stops-deliveries-to-cities-pushing-to-defund-or-disband-police-departments_493058.html

“Another issue that I am seeing in the future is I have cargo insurance, liability insurance, fiscal damage insurance, and I am very curious how when I renew my contracts at the end of the year, if there is going to be language—if I am going to even have coverage going into these places,” Kucharski told Fox.

“Right now, I have coverage going all over domestically,” he said. “You have to get special coverage for Canada or Mexico or you might have to buy special riders for this on top of everything.”

Darren Yancy, a commercial insurance consultant, told TNN in June the defunding of police could increase potential risks from crime, such as theft and fires, and transportation companies could consider increasing insurance costs.

Here’s a question. The left is getting all bent out of shape over the off-label use of hydroxychloroquine and how should just not be allowed. Yet, they are dictating the off-label use of surgical masks. The disclaimer on the boxes for surgical masks clearly state that they are not to be used to prevent the spread of viral infections. So, why is one off-label use so bad that it must be banned while another off-label use is so good it must be mandated?

That off label issue is interesting. Scott Adams addressed it saying 20 percent of all pharmaceutical use is off label. It’s a routine practice.

IMO we are in a pandemic of unknowns. hydroxychloroquine could be safely used under doctor care in a regional setting as a test.

There was some famous health professional would said with all the test showing hydroxychloroquine wasn’t effective meant that Trump lied and its a closed issue.

The cartoonist had to point out to the doctor that the testing studies were only done on hydroxychloroquine. The testing wasn’t done on the Combo Treatment So the WHO/CDC are studying the wrong treatment. It’s regular doctors who are producing results.

I have to check with Dr Rhonda Patrick who tries to stay up on all the research.

I’ve been thinking that President Trump should repair the historical redlining issue with an executive order.

Require banks to drop any real estate point fees on home loans for black home owners from 1990 to 2050. If they hold the loan for a period of time. Maybe create a black ARM. I think the market size can absorb it. ColdWarrior probably knows this a lot better than I.

I mentioned it to a few conservatives already but it gets a luke warm response as being very low on a desired list of things to do. But to me it cements Trumps relationship with the middle class of the black community. It reinforces middle class values. It defines civil rights progress.

I’m not in favor of reparations. I think that path is better served by CBT therapy for people who self label themselves as victims.

Add a blue checkbox on the yearly IRS return that is labeled. “I consider myself a victim”. Then indented add a blue checkbox labeled ” I need help from the feds”

A method to let people data sort themselves. And I wager the number of people who want to be victims drops drastically.

Then when someone complains to me that they are a victim I can ask to see their tax return.
