This is a quick video of Kary Mullis, who invented PCR technology (which is being used to detect Covid-19) on what it actually does.

Basically if it finds a little bit of RNA/DNA, active or inactive, it’s a positive test. Totally inappropriate for testing for sick people

A fun read. Larry Correia on Trump’s taxes nonsense

As a former accountant, please allow me to explain why all of today’s newly formed tax experts are fucking morons, and we should metaphorically put a brick in a sock and beat them over the head with it until they shut up.
    .
    .
First off, “morality” doesn’t have jack shit to do with taxation. You pay what you legally owe. Nobody willingly pays the government more than they legally owe.

This has always been this way since America has had income taxes. There is endless court precedent. You pay what you legally owe. That’s it. If you pay less than you legally owe, then the government will fine or imprison you. If you pay more than you legal owe, the government will laugh and laugh, because you are an idiot, and you deserve to be poor.

nah, most people are cool with it. A lot of us are small business owners and understand depreciation, carry forward, etc., and we aren’t out there employing thousands of people and dealing with regs and all that. The laws we have to deal with in our own small way are plenty, we wish Trump all the best. We fought the IRS for EIGHT years once. We won, but it wasn’t fun. Then there was the time……….you get my drift.

I think you’ve got cause/effect reversed. People who are focused enough to build that business usually don’t have the kind of personality that needs companionship most people require. The money doesn’t cause it, the personality was in place to begin with.

Steve Jobs was an asshole his entire life, so is Zuckerberg, and don’t get me started on the twitter guy. Bezos may be a different animal altogether. Gates seems to be personable enough but he’s a fews beers short of a 6 pack. Oh yea, Musk. sheesh.

There’s a video of the cops taking him down. He was wearing regular shorts, nothing else, no shirt, no shoes, it was outside. It was a perfect take down, he didn’t resist. His behavior was in no way aberrant, but with the info the cops had (gun/self harm), they were right to restrain him.

I haven’t heard if they found a weapon on him, but if they did, I don’t see where it could have been unless it was something very small in a pocket of his shorts.

Parscale looked perfectly normal in terms of emotional state.

In the meantime, his wife says the bruise on her face is when he hit her. Well, he didn’t hit her to hit her, he was trying to smack the phone away.

None of this looks right. I’ve been involved in self-harm interventions and this fits none of it.

That he was hospitalized is normal procedure. Once you get the cops involved, the machine starts working and there’s zero anybody can do about it so I don’t take that as indicative of the actual situation on the ground.

WE haven’t finished with it yet. Blowing 90 gusting120 Km’hr with bad squalls and snow and hail in the south. Ahhhh Spring!

Poor lambs are enduring a rough start in life. Fairly high losses these last few days especially in South Otago where it’s REALLY COLD. Aexandra has lost a LOT of blossom before the apricots have set. Not going to have much of a stone fruit season.

e built a windbreak and put netting over our half dozen plum and apricot trees and so far have held onto the blossom. Half of the trees already have ‘set’ fruit so they will bear well next summer about January.

Right now it back to freezing our arses off!

Particularly since businesses don’t pay taxes. Customers pay the taxes or the businesses wouldn’t remain in business. So people are paying their own taxes along with the taxes they pay in the form of higher prices for the goods and products they buy.

Well, yesterday I saw a story that said the Pope was refusing to meet with Pompeo – something about China – but then I read Pompeo was going to Greece so I didn’t know what the story was. Now I read this as of 3 hrs ago

Pompeo to protest China deal in Vatican visit

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit the Vatican on Tuesday to protest the pending renewal of a controversial deal with China.

Behind the scenes: Pope Francis has reportedly declined to meet with Pompeo, citing the imminent U.S. election.

The big picture: The terms of the deal with Beijing are secret, but it reportedly gives the Vatican a say in the appointment of bishops in the government-sanctioned Church in China.

    It’s controversial for multiple reasons.

Some critics argued that cutting a deal with the Chinese government meant selling out the many Chinese Catholics who take the risk of worshipping in non-sanctioned churches.
Others including Pompeo contend that in order to facilitate stronger ties with China, the Church has declined to take a strong stand against China’s human rights abuses.
“The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal,” Pompeo tweeted earlier this month.
Between the lines: It’s highly unusual for a senior U.S. official to criticize the pope so forcefully.

Worth noting: Francis already has plenty on his plate. He removed a senior cardinal who had been viewed as a potential future pope last week over claims he embezzled Church funds, per AP.

    https://www.axios.com/pompeo-vatican-visit-china-deal-pope-francis-70fd1ae3-0926-4bbc-bd9c-3cd5d854f9e8.html

3 things to note. 1) The U.S. ambassador to the Vatican is Calista Gingrich, Newt’s wife.

    2) This is THE EXACT trap the Vatican found itself in vis a vis Nazi Germany and it fucked up (who chooses the bishops). Pious was not “the Nazi Pope” but he was between a rock and a hard place. And there is no question that the Vatican ran a rat line for Nazi war criminals after the war. Straight to Francis’ home states, Argentina.

    3) The Vatican in WW II didn’t come down on the Nazis because it considered the communists the greater threat. But the Vatican has been infiltrated by the communists so Pompeo’s moral stance has much more clarity. The Vatican has been taken over by the communists. It has simply donned the skin of the papacy but the pelt stinks. To high heaven.

    So my bedtime story.

You might have heard that our older darling heathen beagle, Willow, had surgery to fix a torn ACL about 4 mos ago. As far as we know she’s 10 – 10 and a half years old now (rescue – no records).

She is the sweetest, most gentle dog you will ever meet. But she’s sly as fuck. She has become accustomed to being home alone with Mom in a quiet house and having every whim catered to. And now she’s lazy. I tried to take her for a walk today and she limped and seemed in pain all the way down the driveway. She sat. Didn’t want to move. Wut? She hasn’t limped in a month. Something’s wrong. Turn around back to the house. I’m thinking I have to call the surgeon, maybe she needs pain meds again? Maybe the arthritis that the doc saw during surgery?

Right. Ran right up the porch stairs into the house and sat by the fridge for her post-walk treat.

Don’t ever believe that dogs don’t lie and plot. They are masters and there is no question about who is training who.

    nite.

Gee,you would think this was all planned out, a collaboration between the DNC and the MSM or something, a plan to throw trump off his game for the first debate maybe, now wouldn’t ya ?

And Bidens’ recent absence from the public spotlight you could almost conclude that hes been locked down practicing his lines for the past week, making sure he knows all the questions given to him by Donna II including the witty quips he will make, directed at Trump, when he feels that spark and buzz from the tiny electrode taped under his armpits. I’m pretty sure they’d win that on appeal. Magazine disconnect safeties are by no means standard features of handguns. Some have them. Some don’t. As a gun owner, it’s your responsibility to understand how your particular gun operates.

It’s also your responsibility to not leave your loaded gun out where an untrained kid can find it. If anyone should be held liable, it’s the gun owner.

Well, I have watched the first hour of the debate and I have to admit I am watching it in 15 minute chunks. Can’t do bigger chunks than that as I need to keep taking a break from it.

Never witnessed such a mess. It would be good if a question was asked on a subject, they each had two minutes to state their respective positions then there was a two way discussion ON THAT SUBJECT!

I don’t type very well or very fast in my twilight years ( long timers here stop laughing, and yeah that is one of the reasons this place isn’t nuts any more ) so I will refer to just the first segment of the debate.

I had a face to face conversation with a friend last weekend about the nomination of a new judge to the supreme court and my opinion was/is that this current administration exists until some time in January 2021 so yes a new judge should be appointed. The normal duties and functions of the elected president and senate should not be suspended just because there is an up-coming election.

I was pleasantly surprised that Trump agreed with me in his opening 2 minute speech. See, I do kind of understand how governments work, or should work. The current administration should carry on, not stop and wait…

Biden then replied that nomination of a new judge should be postponed because of the up coming election and then went rambling on about ACA and womens’ rights.

The initial question was a clear yes or no question in my mind. “Should the government shut down and do nothing in the weeks/months before an election just because we need to see who wins? ”

Even if Trump loses the presidency and the Republicans lose the Senate the CURRENT administration has until the end of January 2021 to appoint whomever they want as a SCOTUS judge.

    Can’t see a problem with that….

OK finally a decent debate started.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofkPfm3tFxo is the YouTube I am watching. The timings may differ depending on the archive you have.

At 1:12:00 topic changes to California fires. Trump states they are due to bad forest management.

If it were not for the fact that in the affected areas there were towns and homes in those areas then my opinion is let the fires burn. The forest regenerates.

BUT the moderator then mixes up climate change with forest fires. NO!!!!! Forests are not suddenly bursting into flames because the planet got 1 degree warmer in the last century.. ( yeah I made up the 1 degree rise because I can’t be bothered to look up the data… )

And now we have Biden then promoting renewable energy and his plan to have federal vehicles using renewable energy.

I am dumb as a rock, but I have a plan for how we can use renewable energy more.

All those cartoon looking mail trucks be replaced by electric trucks. They only do maybe 40-50 miles a day ( I am guessing here. )

Garbage collection trucks, they probably do only a few miles per day but engine running 8 hours. Frequent starts and stops.

You smart people here can probably think of other examples. Hey, I just thought of another one. Domestic heating, especially water heating. In the UK when I lived there we had something called ” off peak electricity ” What that means is you had an heavily insulated hot water tank and during the night when the electricity requirement was low then your smart meter would turn on the power and heat up your water. At a much reduced cost to you, kind of balancing out daytime and night time load. That was in the days of coal fired and nuclear power plants that could not really be shut off when demand was low. They kind of run 24/7

Where am I going with this? Well starting with mail delivery and garbage collection then that is done by electric powered vehicles at NIGHT.

During the day they are parked and being charged by solar energy.

See where I am going with this? If we move towards more electric vehicles and renewable energy they need to be re-charged when renewal energy is available. That is, recharged during daylight, used at night.

Otherwise unless fundamental changes are made to the way we live and work will not make any real difference to our energy usage.

    @ Possum:

Mail is delivered during the day.

The basic premise of your argument is known here as off-peak pricing. Doesn’t matter how the energy is generated.

I think that more attention needs to be paid to batteries. They suck but physics is physics and we need to figure something out. Lithium is better but you can’t put the stuff in landfills and they way it’s being mined is a crime.

Actually a few years ago I kind of did a real/fantasy evaluation of how I could get a drone to fly across the USA.

It had solar panels that unfolded when it rested and recharged during the day. It flew at night and found a safe place on a roof of a building during the day. Unfolded the solar panels then when recharged at night took off and flew to the next safe building where it could hide and recharge the next day.

Collects energy during the day, uses it at night….

It would make a great science project.

Even if the night hop was only a few miles I think a coast to coast autonomous drone flight is possible.

But you see, even then I was thinking store energy when it is available ( during the day ) and use that stored energy when none is available.

Solar Powered Drones !!!!! If you turn my mail box into a drone accessory and add garbage bag clamps to it.. Then the drone could deliver my mail and take my garbage out in the same day.

Yes batteries, but they need charging. So charge when solar is available. Hence the charge during daylight, deliver mail at night.

Not yet. I wasn’t able to listen live due to joinders needing to get to court.
I have yet to see Sullivan even ACKNOWLEDGE the damning information that justice has released regarding the conduct of this investigation and what led to Flynn pleading guilty. And I’ll wager that ridiculous amicus jerk didn’t bother to investigate it either.

Sidney asks the question that has never been answered – WHO is this amicus acting on behalf of.

Sullivan just wants to force Trump to pardon Flynn. It would not surprise me if he orders Flynn to jail BEFORE the election in order to force Trump to pardon him. And I tell you, if the GOP ends up after the election with both Houses of Congress, the impeachment of this disgrace in black robes should be on the top ten list of “Things to Do.”

I don’t think he reads anything except what Gleeson gives him. He obviously didn’t know what was behind the recusal of Contreras and Sidney put it in one of her filings. He was unaware of the order of events between when she became Flynn’s counsel, her letter to AG Barr and her notice of appearance to the Court. Either unaware or he lied, but I doubt he threaten to take her before the bar based on something he knew was a lie

Mail theft is already at epidemic levels in the US. Nighttime delivery will send it through the roof.

We discover which scenario is true tomorrow (Friday here). Right now he’s a ‘box of birds’ and apparently good. If it is this nasty bacterial infection then they really lucked in as they discovered extremely early during his 3 monthly check. Just saying our prayers right now and hoping for scenarios #1 or #2!

Oz REALLY needs a dozen nuclear powered Attack submarines ……. about yesterday $90 billion is there waiting to buy them as the government acts like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

Thoughts are again turning to Australia Alone and building our own nukes as a guarantee against getting rolled over. The estimated first nuke off the line is 6 months such is the current level of technical knowhow here. That would take a massive commitment however. The top secret laser enrichment process remains shared only between Oz and the US to prevent global spread of nuke weapons tech.

I’m not sure I agree with his cause/effect and I definitely disagree with the idea that using a moral basis for whatever seems to be uniquely American. I can’t think of a movement/philosophy in western civ that didn’t have that aspect and it always has come from society’s ‘betters’.

His breakdown of Title II of the Civil Rights act is dead on, tho.

The rest is high falutin’ stuff that boils down to this – our laws are not enforced. For justice to be done it must be SEEN to be done. He’s writing from an ivory tower. I’m living in a county where the sheriff refuses to co-operate with ICE less than a year after they found body parts of young girls in a local park who were murdered by MS-13 gang.

Lois Lerner (remember her?) should have gone to jail for 10 yrs.

We are going to atomize as a society before we ever regroup. Either the left is defeated at the polls – and stays defeated – or we start shooting. We aren’t moving to Knoxville for the fun of it, altho we love the place and can’t wait to be there. And believe me, we are not alone.

Iron Fist knew this, we both saw it coming, we talked about it a lot.

Atomising a society is as painful as it sounds and I really can’t see such atomisation happening without destroying the nation.

The main point of the paper, from my perspective, is that the ‘Intersectionals’, be they BLM marxist white college kids or wild eyed ANTIFA anarchists or even criminal gang types out for gain in a time of disruption can be neutralised and put back into their box. The hard core Elitist Progressive left ( The Establishment SWAMP) who have been actively building their power bases since the 1930s and especially since the 1960s will NOT go easily into the night.

This wedded Corporate and Elitist bureaucratic power is so institutionalised into the administrative weft and weave of the American Nation State that I see no way, short of full bloody civil war, for America society to reset its society. The ANTIFAs and BLMs of the world are just the symptoms of this total control of society and are easily swept away. The Establishment SWAMP however is so much a part of what America has become, especially since 2016 when the American Republic ‘died’, that I fear that only blood will wash this monstrous aberration from the body politic.

The SWAMP is so deep and so very wide, and permeates so much of the US body politic, that to sweep it away seems a lost hope to many deplorable.

    More’s the pity.

That nonsense Biden was spouting last night was unreal.

How is making buildings more energy-efficient going to power anything? It might reduce the amount of energy you need to power it, but it’s not a power source. That moron actually said that he wants to eliminate oil, coal and natural gas-fired powerplants entirely.

What’s going to provide the base load power for the country? It sure as hell isn’t going to be windmills or solar panels. If we could even build enough of them to generate that much power, we have no way to store it for when the wind’s not blowing, or when it’s dark (which, last time I checked was just about half the time).

That is the ‘ Can;t see the woods for all of the trees” problem.

Nonsense arguments about base loads and crazy plans that make no sense ARE NOT the point.

What is going on when you keep seeing nonsense is to take a peek behind the curtain. It’s NOT about energy production or new green technologies or even ANYTHING about energy.

What you peek is the REALITY of a group seeking to BREAK the SYSTEM for political outcomes.

Craziness is NOT really crazy when viewed as part of a plan to break the system and then rebuild it in a image that most people would find horrific.

Remember that next time that you run up against apparent craziness.
