WOOOT! 2-0 last week. Big win for PITT at home! now: 23/29 $1800/$1000. 80% ROI…it was 90% with a low of 40%. If this were real money, i’d quit here too.
Started a brisket last night at 2000, its finishing in the oven and will be done around noon.
Let’s take a look at the games today.
#6 Michigan at #8 Michigan State 12:00 PM FOX: Are the Spartans legit? The battle for Michigan has M as a 4 point favorite. I think MSU can cover and it’s a party in Spartyland today!
Miami at #17 Pittsburgh 12:00 PM ACCN: YINZ SEE THIS???? My beloved Panthers are #17! They are 9 point favorites versus the criminal element from the U. Of course. if Miami were ranked this game would be on one of the networks, but, yet again, Miami was grossly overrated. 9 points? Pitt is coming off a YUGE win versus Clemson last week and won’t cover this week. I sure hope I’m wrong and Pitt blows out the criminal element.
#9 Iowa at Wisconsin 12:00 PM ESPN: Iowa is only a 3 point favorite??? The corn-fed Iowa Hawkeyes cover at Camp Randall.
#20 Penn State at #5 Ohio State 7:30 PM ABC: PSU’s quarterback is still injured but is staring. PSU is a 19.5 point dog. 19.5? yep, OSU covers while PSU continues to collapse.

The ISIS terrorist threat against malls in Northern Virginia is credible, they even know some of these guys names. Some are released prisoners from Bagrahm. They were on the evac planes that landed at Dulles. Guess what was waiting for them at Dulles? ‘Culturally appropriate’ food, etc. One of the targeted areas is Alexandria. There is only one major mall there, Springfield, about 1.5 miles from our house.

Well, what a strange day!
I went to pick up an application form for a job this morning. Took it outside to fill it in and sat at one of the outdoor tables of an ice cream parlor two doors away. The ice cream place was not open yet, it opened at 11:30am. When it did open I went in and asked if they had coffee. They did not unfortunately. I needed hot coffee as it was a chilly 70F. Anyway I asked the owner of the ice cream store if it was OK I sat outside and finished filling in the application and he said ” yes “.
Took application back to the place I was applying to and got an interview there and then. I start Monday!
As it was slightly warmer by then I went to the ice cream store to buy a soda, The owner asked me if I got the job because he was hiring too.
I told him I did get the job and he said ” He is a nice man to work for next door, he has been trying to get someone for a while, so have I ”
The next door was a medical supplies business. That was not the place I got the job at.
OK sorry for rambling but the story is I went to one business to apply for a job and the next door and the one next to that all needed staff.
Their seems to be a shortage of workers in Houston.

Nipah virus emerged in Malaysia in 1998 as a porcine neurologic and respiratory disease that spread to humans who had contact with live, infected pigs. Research reviewed in this paper suggests that anthropogenic factors, including agricultural expansion and intensification, were the underlying causes of its emergence. Nipah virus has caused five subsequent outbreaks between 2001 and 2005 in Bangladesh. Here, it appears to have spilled over directly from bats to humans, and person-to-person transmission is evident suggesting a heightened public health risk.

Story from the crypto world. Someone bought $8,000 of the Shib coin last Jan. Today that investment is worth 5 Billion dollars.
Thing is the investor hasn’t withdrawn a penny. People that know say this is usually because the investor has lost the private key (password) to the account. And also lost the recovery phrases (sloppy book keeping)
So 5 billion left hanging in the wind. And it seems like it happens a lot.
SHIB is riding at .00007 per coin today. All time high is .000086. Robinhood is expected to open up on SHIB trading. The Coinbase crypto exchange app has become the #1 app store download. People are saying this is the only way to hedge against Bidenflation.
shib is a meme coin. Meaning the productivity behind it is mostly meme logic. Or in other words its a bubble that will be rug pulled at some point. Reminds me of the Tulip market. Or a gold rush.
Crypto will shake out and what’s left will be a stable global economy. BTC, SOL, ETH, and ADA are probably stable buys. Most people think only BTC is.

My #2 son the cop had an early call to attend a predawn raid on a gang drugs distribution operation. All the usual subjects turned out, including the detectives and investigators (including #2 son) the AOS (Armed Offenders Squad), and a few from organized crime unit etc. They hit a line up of sleazy motel rooms that housed known gang affiliates and assorted low lifes.
It all went well and my #2 son was holding down one of the gang ringleaders whilst telling his girlfriend to bugger off as she was trying to give the prisoner cigarettes. #2 son saw movement out the corner of his vision about 5 meters away in a doorway. Looked and saw a gang member holding an AK47 pointed directly at #2 son’s center of mass. He yelled ‘GUN’ and the 10 armed cops instantly mobbed the potential shooter, guns drawn. He dropped the AK47 which turned out to be a toy gun, which in the half light at 0530 looked very real.
This idiot was VERY lucky that he isn’t dead. #2 son asked the idiot what he thought he was doing and he said ..” trying to scare you”. #2 son told him that if he’d seen him half a second earlier, he’d have drawn his sidearm and aimed for the idiot’s center of mass and put two into his chest.
Three senior sergeants phoned #2 son to ensure he was OK and then his Inspector of Detectives also rang followed by the Regional Superintendent.
#2 son is a very cool customer and never gets uptight. He appreciated the concern expressed however.

I’d get a coinbase account and do their tutorials and their 1 min crypto lessons where it doesn’t cost you anything. All Free. And you get a small amount of crypto to track. That’s at your wallet level. At a high level you could watch the youtube videos by Mark Saylor, Cathi Wood, and Tom Bilyeu
There is a lot of junk coins in the space. The best way to do crypto is get the coinbase account. Then put $100 a week into the account. $50 into Bitcoin,$25 into Ethereum, $20 into some other alt coin. And $5 into risky stuff.
It’s a hard environment to understand. These coins represent companies. Some are strictly networking protocols, some are finance apps, some are games and pretty pictures. It’s called web3. It’s very similar to database work where The database is being decentralized to reside in a millions places in the cloud. The blockchain tracks that. The blockchain is code that scripts the database and maintains security.
I just learn one new thing a day. I can’t even understand what some of these experts are talking about. It is clear to me though that this is an effort to enhance fiat currency systems with a global currency. It’s a hedge against inflation. And you’ll slowly see poor countries turn over their economics to crypto currencies.
Watch a couple of Tom Bilyeu crypto talks. The ones he has with Michael Saylor and Raoul Pal are pretty interesting. Saylor is an MIT grad who turned his company into a Bitcoin machine. Raoul is a macro money manager who understands patterns in money really well and can explain them to a lay person. The Raoul vid is here. https://youtu.be/RennZ2vwY74

I’ve been watching something evolve on twitter (my favorite cesspool). There was a Southwest Airline flight earlier today on which there was a bit of a dustup.
On the flight was a young boy named Brandon, who is a cancer patient traveling to a hospital to receive a bone marrow transplant.
He was sitting next to Stephen Miller (Trump admin).
The pilot said over the intercom (not sure at what point during the flight) said LET’S GO BRANDON!!
And another passenger, an AP reporter, Colleen Long, who covers law enforcement, DOJ and SCOTUS went bat guano nutzoid – and admits it.
https://twitter.com/ctlong1/status/1454460154435362817
TFW you’re trying to go on vacation and then the pilot says the very thing you’re working on over the loud speaker and you have to try to get him comment but then almost get removed from plane.
Also in defense of airline I was asking them to open locked cock pit and probably sounded insane! [multiple tweets I’ve read said she grabbed a beveridge cart but I think that may be exaggeration. They would have zip tied and duct taped her to her seat. Altho it’s not clear what the scope of ‘ask’ is]

Cockpit is such a problematic descriptor. Please call it a “flight deck” and refrain from using gendered language in the future.

I’m A Twenty Year Truck Driver, I Will Tell You Why America’s “Shipping Crisis” Will Not End
I have a simple question for every ‘expert’ who thinks they understand the root causes of the shipping crisis:
Why is there only one crane for every 50–100 trucks at every port in America?
No ‘expert’ will answer this question.
Furthermore, I’m fortunate enough to be a Teamster — a union driver — an employee paid by the hour. Most port drivers are ‘independent contractors’, leased onto a carrier who is paying them by the load. Whether their load takes two hours, fourteen hours, or three days to complete, they get paid the same, and they have to pay 90% of their truck operating expenses (the carrier might pay the other 10%, but usually less.) The rates paid to non-union drivers for shipping container transport are usually extremely low. In a majority of cases, these drivers don’t come close to my union wages. They pay for all their own repairs and fuel, and all truck related expenses. I honestly don’t understand how many of them can even afford to show up for work.
.
.
From personal experience, what used to take me 20–30 minutes to pick up at a warehouse can now take three to four hours. This slowdown is warehouse management related: very few warehouses are open 24 hours, and even if they are, many are so short staffed it doesn’t make much difference, they are so far behind schedule. It means that as a freight driver, I cannot pick up as much freight in a day as I used to, and since I can’t get as much freight on my truck, the whole supply chain is backed up. Freight simply isn’t moving.

@ eaglesoars:
A group of employees from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory are planning a demonstration in Pasadena on Monday decrying a federal vaccine mandate that will require all JPL employees to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8 or face potential termination.
Members of the group JPLNoVaxMandate plan to host their protest from 7 a.m. to noon at Oak Grove Drive and Foothill Boulevard, near Hahamongna Watershed Park, organizers said.
In keeping with a federal mandate affecting all federal contractors, including JPL, employees will need to have their final doses of vaccine by Nov. 23 in order to meet the requirement, as vaccination is not considered complete until two weeks after the final dose.
“Effective Dec. 8, 2021, vaccination will be a condition of employment for JPL employees and a requirement for badged affiliates and contractors working for JPL, regardless of whether you work on Lab, at another JPL facility, or elsewhere off-site,” the policy states.
Those who fail to meet the requirement will be placed on a six-week unpaid leave, JPL Business Administrator and, JPLNoVaxMandate member Taylor Ingram said.
“And at that point, if we’re not vaccinated, we will lose our jobs. JPL has not given us the option to continue testing. This applies for employees that are working at home full time, employees that are working out of state,” she said.
“So we’re going to lose our jobs and we believe that there are as many as 1,000 employees at JPL who have not received the vaccine,” according to Ingram. “However, we don’t have any way of finding out what that number actually is unless we start protesting and making other employees aware of our movement.”
The demonstration is not in opposition to vaccination, but in support of personal liberty, said JPL Engineering Development Technician and JPLNoVaxMandate member Caleb Macy.
“There’s a number of us that are very concerned about the implications to our freedoms. And if the government, or anyone, is given the right to tell you what you have to have in your body, that leads down a very dark path,” he said.
“We have both people who are vaccinated and not vaccinated in our group, but everybody is just wanting to stand for body sovereignty, the right to choose, and medical freedom,” Macy said.

You thought some of the Fed Reserve honchos doing insider trading was bad? Look at this nightmare
The Federal Reserve hired BlackRock, which manages $7 trillion in assets, to run a portion of their quantitative easing program. This is a glaring conflict of interest. Not only is BlackRock paid $8 million per year to run this scam, BlackRock could buy its own bonds out.

A Glaring New Conflict Of Interest Undermines Public Trust In Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve just made the problem of financial firms considered ‘too big to fail’ a whole lot bigger.
That’s because the U.S. central bank has hired investment giant BlackRock BLK +0.9%,* which manages some $7 trillion in assets, to run purchases of corporate bonds and commercial mortgages that are part of its response to the pandemic-led recession.
.
.
During the last crisis, BlackRock’s assets under management were $1.3 trillion, so they have ballooned in size by over five times in just a decade.
Under the Fed’s program, BlackRock “could buy some of its own funds on behalf of the central bank,” according to Bloomberg. It doesn’t take a financial expert to find that kind of self-dealing fishy.
