Thanksgiving Weekend Open and NCAA Football Week 13 2021 Open

Filed under College Football, Open thread at November 27th, 2021 - 8:00 am

It’s Rivalry Weekend.

I stunk the joint up two weeks ago and was 3/7. so now:  30/43 : $1400/$1000. i was up 90% and said if this were real money that i would quit there.

It ain’t real money and it’s rivalry week where i’ll be hanging out at gramma and papap coldwarrior’s palatial estate , cooking some steaks, and watching some ball…drinking some booze…smoking some cigars.

#2 Ohio State

12:00 PM FOX

OSU is a 7 point favorite and I just don’t see how M covers.

Florida State

12:00 PM ESPN

I’m sorry, no. The Gators are in free-fall and are 3 point favorites? Nope, the ‘Noles cover.

#3 Alabama

3:30 PM CBS

‘Bama is a 21 point dog at Jordan-Hare? nah. War Eagle covers.

Penn State

3:30 PM ABC

PSU is only a 3 point dog? Nope. Spartie covers.

Vanderbilt

3:45 PM SECN

All of the Vols losses are to quality ranked teams, including my Beloved Pathers 😉 .  The Vols have stomped the dog snot out of everyone else. But, 31 points? Nah, The Vandie Commode-ors cover.

#10 Oklahoma

7:30 PM ABC

Listen, this is ‘Bedlam’ it’s almost always an insane football game with crazy endings. If you watch one game this year, this is it! The Cowboys are 4.5 point dogs and cover.

The games out west in the PAC12 all stink. So don’t bother.

//—3/6, its a wash 33/49 : $1400/$1000 —/

And you think YOU’RE having a bad day….

After waiting for four months, I picked up my Tesla model Y yesterday. Got two blocks from the dealership before an eight point buck deer decided it would be a great idea to run into the side of the car. Goodbye, back quarter panel. You lasted a whole 60 seconds.

    This is fine…….

China to take over Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport for default on debt repayment.

China has rejected Uganda’s request to re-negotiate toxic clauses in the $200m loan picked six years ago for the Airport expansion.

The Airport is the only Intl Airport in the country.

    @ coldwarrior:
The Taiwanese had a great relationship with the Solomons until a VERY corrupt politician got the grand tour of China by the CCP including compromising photos of his various dalliances. China then offered the usual bait and switch game which the now rich bunch of Cabinet Ministers grabbed with both hands.

Then the Chinese arrived enmass and began to throw their weight around, and that resulted in the burning down of Chinatown for the first time. It was rebuilt with even more Chinese money, and the Chinese started to pressure the government into more debt and less control. The local people revolted and burned down the new Chinatown and threw out the resident CCP operatives through street action and threats.

Now corrupt ministers are being hunted and the Solomon Islanders are demanding that the government get rid of the Chinese influence and bring back the Taiwanese. Guaducanal revisited but this time it’s the CCP ‘fishing boats’ running the gauntlet down ‘The Slot’!

Just before New Guinea gained independence the open joke was that the Aussie Administrators would be given a week to ‘Get Otta Dodge’ but the Chinese shop traders would be given a day before being burned out and butchered. The Locals absolutely HATED the Chinese traders because they had a monopoly and totally ripped off the locals and kept them forever in debt for their food stocks.

The Locals deep in the jungle where I was flying had a slightly different view. The Aussie ‘Keyups’ or Local Administrators were a cross between Police, Post office, Local body Works Department, Jailers, government Administrators, Tax collectors, Public Health administrators .. all rolled into one man on his own or with a couple of native Policemen, in the middle of the jungle. The deep jungle locals (bushman true) used to ask me when referring to the abstract idea of Independence,… ” All Australian Keyups ‘go long finish (go away forever). New Fella Keyup name Belong Mr. Underpants he come’ (a different type of Keyups called independence was coming to replace the Aussies).

The one thing that ALL locals truly HATED however were the Chinese Trade Store owners in the small towns.

That sounds like when the steel companies owned all the mines, the mining towns, all the stores and all the housing.

My ex’s parents lived that. My father-in-law (a truly wonderful man born in Poland) worked in the mines, disabled in a cave-in. They lived in one of those houses, it took them 40 years to pay that house off and they didn’t have indoor plumbing until the ’60s. My mother-in-law literally counted pennies her whole life, even when she had dementia.

I had a strange day today. It is Saturday and my day off but stupidly I forgot to un-set my alarm. Damn thing went off at 7:30am and so myself and the cats got out of bed.

It was a dull and rainy morning in Houston. Nothing exciting on the horizon except laundry.

By 9:00am when I was on my second cup of coffee I was thinking to myself ” I wish I was at work today ”

Then a surprise text from my boss at 11:30am ” are you bored? ” I answered ” yes ”

Boss texted back ” do you want to come in? ”

    LOL

So today was a non-boring day after all. Laundry can wait another day…..

I’m learning a bit more who to use as sources. I wish I could have recorded everything Lee Merritt said. She made PERFECT sense. I’ll go over her web site in detail later.

Talking about small pox – remember they found that vial of the stuff in a fridge someplace in Philly about a week ago? Yeah, she doesn’t buy it. She thinks it’s a psy op. We know who has all the small pox, we know where it is, mostly. Yeah, when the USSR fell, some people skeddadled and used it as their entry dowry but there aren’t that many labs (or people) who can handle the stuff.

One question for you tho – I think I was asking you about your school board and you said the chair was a no-BS woman you trust. Would she tell Wolf to piss up a rope?

Do you know whether the US Postal Service is restricting posts for Ivermectin and other similar drugs, internally in the US?

If not how about US bases such as the US Airforce base South of Tokyo?

I have a godson in the US Army based there as Director of Plans for Asia.

Recently his boss a 1 Star ordered him to go to the Pentagon for a week of meetings rather than go himself. to miss the additional 14 days quarantine when he returned to Japan he just hopped a MAC flight out of DC and puddle jumped his way back to the Airbase in Japan and missed all of the BS.

If I asked he could post the Ivermectin from a Japanese post office and bypass the US Postal service.

From a Left wing source but it’ll give you a flavor of what happens in the Solomon Islands. There was a huge gun running operation out of the Solomons during the 1980s in support for the attempted break away state in New Britain over the massive copper mine. I was professionally involved for a while but it all died down when the main actors got killed. For al of the blood and treasure that the US Marines expended, the US is unbelievably uninterested in Guadalcanal these days. You guys are allowing China to walk in an unlocked doo to the ‘Second Island Chain.

Alas we discovered that many of the arms were being sourced out of NZ off fishing boats. Loads of ex-military L1A1 SLR 7.62mm (Belgium) out of the NZ army. VERY bad. Guerrillas were smuggling them from the Solomons NW into TPNG, where the fighting was going on. The task was to turn off the supply. My job was to keep tabs on all of the main players doing the fighting. Just ORBAT stuff. Nothing dangerous.

    🙂

We did a similar task right across Polynesia as I was aircrew flying heavies into and out of Tahiti, Fiji and the Cooks. During crew slips I’d hire a Honda 90 and troll about with a map and camera and document all of the DZs, LZs Bridges, roads etc. THEN we discovered AFTER we’d built our database that a NZ Engineering company had done all of the Bridging wharfs roads etc and had all of the specs in their files. Total waste of my time. Fun though.

To get a prescription for Ivermectin all you need to do is call your doctor and tell him/her you have worms.

If he/she needs you to go to the office I suggest you take a gallon ziploc half filled with shit ( you could get friends and family to help ) and mix in a handful of angel hair pasta, cooked al dente.

Go to the office, plonk the bag on the desk and offer to open it and show the doctor. Take a spoon with you for added dramatic effect.

Now, if the doctor calls your bluff and demands to send the sack of shit to the laboratory the worst that can happen is the results say ” We suggest the patient cooks her pasta for five minutes longer to aid complete digestion ”

Best outcome is laboratory says ” YEP worms ”

Not as strange is it may seem. 14% of Americans do in fact have worms.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-diseases-neglected-usa/worms-infect-more-poor-americans-than-thought-idINN2526656920071226

He said the United States spent hundreds of millions of dollars to defend against bio-terrorism threats like anthrax or smallpox or avian flu, which were more a theoretical concern than a real threat at present.

“And yet we have a devastating parasitic disease burden among the American poor, right under our nose,” Hotez said.

He noted a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, presented in November, found that almost 14 percent of the U.S. population is infected with Toxocara roundworms, which dogs and cats can pass to people.

“Urban playgrounds in the United States have recently been shown to be a particularly rich source of Toxocara eggs and inner-city children are at high risk of acquiring the infection,” Hotez wrote, adding that this might be partly behind the rise in asthma cases in the country. Up to 23 percent of urban black children may be infected, he said.

15 Republican Governors Launch ‘Operation Open Road’ to Fix Supply Chain Snarl

Fifteen Republican governors, led by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, have launched “Operation Open Road,” an initiative that seeks to ease the U.S. supply chain crunch through a range of state and federal measures, including calling on the Biden administration to remove “burdensome” regulations on the trucking industry and to suspend President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate for private employers.

Lee announced the start of the operation in a statement on Nov. 22, the same day that he signed an executive order (pdf) deregulating critical trucking functions in Tennessee.

“Republican governors across the country have committed to doing everything we can to solve a growing supply chain crisis that has resulted in backed-up ports and empty shelves,” he said. “We call on the Biden Administration to join us in Operation Open Road by suspending burdensome regulations on the trucking industry and therefore ensuring small businesses and American consumers have access to the goods they need this holiday season.”

The initiative comes as the supply chain crisis is continuing to roil the United States, helping raise the rate of inflation to a three-decade high and prompting warnings of possible product shortages heading into the busy holiday shopping season.

At the federal level, Operation Open Road calls for the Biden administration to suspend federal regulations

Ok, WHAT is going on here. This looks like a very odd study to begin with – who comes up with the idea to study risk taking w/intake of acetaminophen to begin with? What an odd connection.

“Acetaminophen seems to make people feel less negative emotion when they consider risky activities – they just don’t feel as scared,” neuroscientist Baldwin Way from The Ohio State University explained last year.

Then, at the very bottom of the article there is this:

“Perhaps someone with mild COVID-19 symptoms may not think it is as risky to leave their house and meet with people if they’re taking acetaminophen,” Way said.

Right. And just fuck all the way off. Yesterday.

Best to have a Melenesian Military presence of New Guinean and Fijians, as the Solomon Islands are all Melenesians. The Aussie Army will be ‘otta there’ as soon as the situation calms, but will leave behind some Federal Police to continue peacekeeping in Honiara.

Keep the profile low but if necessary, the troops from 6 RAR in their Townsville Queensland barracks are only 3 hours away by C-130 if needed. I’m guessing that the Aussie Navy will be upping their presence as well in the waters off Honiara and in ‘The Slot’.

    – remove Kamala, install Hillary as V-POTUS

    – Joe leaves for health reasons, Hillary moves in as POTUS

    – new VP is – wait for it – Michelle Obama

I don’t know what the procedure for replacing the VP is, if there is one, Root doesn’t elaborate on the process. I think it’s unlikely, but this seems to be The Age of the Unlikely. I don’t remember how it was done with Spiro Agnew.

Peter Kenilorea the Solomon Islands’ Prime Minister is a totally corrupted professional politician in China’s pocket. He’s been in and out of office several times in the past couple of decades, but like slime he always seems to bribe his way to the top. The vast bulk of the highly tribal populous are tribally and religiously opposed to Kenilorea and his small bunch of CCP bought and paid for cabinet members.

The vast majority of Solomon Islanders want the CCP to be kicked out of the country and the Taiwanese invited back. That is NOT to say your average Solomon Islander likes Chinese of any persuasion. It’s just that the Taiwanese have behaved themselves more than some. Most Solomon Islanders accept that Aussies being the big dog in the region will sort out trouble equitably and THEN LEAVE. That’s why the TPNG’s Pacific Islands Regiment and the Fijian army troops will come in behind the Aussies as they depart, because both militaries are Melenesians, and even speak the local languages as well as Pidgin.

    🙂

The CCP is fresh out of luck. First because they are Chinese. Second is because they hitched their wagon to the wrong tribal group. Third the Chinese are terrible racists and it really shows.

A new VP is nominated by the president. Has to be confirmed by 2/3 vote in BOTH chambers (the only such confirmation process of its kind). Ford was the first person to go through the process. When he became president, he nominated Nelson Rockefeller as VP, who then had to do the same.

It’s part of the 25th Amendment, which came about after the JFK assassination. Until then, there was no procedure for replacing a VP. If they became president, there was no VP until the next election. LBJ had no VP until his inauguration in 1965, when Humphrey was sworn in.

American forces first landed on the Solomon Islands of Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and Florida on the morning of August 7,1942. After some fierce fighting, the US Marines cleared Tulagi and Florida by August 9. The main forces on Guadalcanal met little resistance on their way inland to secure the airfield at Lunga Point, which was soon renamed Henderson Field after Loy Henderson, an aviator killed at the Battle of Midway. Almost immediately, however, Japanese naval aircraft attacked transport and escort ships, and Japanese reinforcements arrived in the area.

Following its attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941), the Japanese Imperial Navy occupied islands throughout the western Pacific Ocean. Japan’s goal was to create a defensive buffer against attack from the United States and its allies—one that would ensure Japan mastery over east Asia and the southwest Pacific.

The Victorian State Premier is certainly pro-China as he attempted to sign a ‘Belt & Road agreement with the CCP until he was ‘put back in his box’ by the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs. The State Premier of Western Australia is pro CCP because his state supplies billion$$$ of dollars worth of iron ore to China. The Chief Officer (effectively also a premier but governed as a Federal Territory) gave China a 99 year lease on the port of Darwin, totally illegally and that will be fixed soon by Federally tearing up the contract.

On top of that we have a totally communist ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission), public broadcaster that gets $1.2 billion of government money a year.

I’ve been watching the Whitney Cummings podcasts on youtube. There seem to be a high percent of famous women that she interviews who were also prolific shoplifters when young.

    https://comparecamp.com/shoplifting-statistics/

47% of high school students admitted to having shoplifted in the past year. To put it into perspective though, 55% of the adult shoplifters said they started shoplifting in their teens.

ORC or organized retail crime, another type of shoplifting/retail crime, combined with non-ORC shoplifting and employee theft for 2/3 of the value of annual shrinkage (retail fraud, losses, other types of retail losses), causes $50.6 billion annually.

In terms of seasonality, winter is the prime shoplifting season in the US with 81% of the season losses occurring during the holidays/festivities.

“AstraZeneca’s head of R&D for oncology dies at 61
    By Reuters Staff

(Reuters) – AstraZeneca Plc’s head of oncology research, Jose Baselga, has died at the age of 61, the company said on Sunday.

“An outstanding scientific leader, José leaves a lasting legacy in the scientific community and here at AstraZeneca,” the company’s Chief Executive Officer Pascal Soriot said bit.ly/3lye6YU in a statement.

The statement did not give a cause of death but Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia said Baselga had died of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare brain condition.

Baselga joined AstraZeneca in 2019. He previously worked as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s chief medical officer. He had also been chief of hematology/oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and a professor at Harvard Medical School.

Reporting by Radhika Anilkumar in Bengaluru; Editing by Frances Kerry”

I remember people being suspicious at the time because he had appeared recently in public in good health and the experts who posted suggested you don’t usually die so quickly from this prion disease.

That tech is by far the easiest one to make. Just lace a couple of geo stationary satellites in orbit and power them with isotopes and create a man made magnetic field around Mars. There are already designs for this, ready to go!. Bio-forming Mars is a wee bit more difficult and could take hundreds of years to complete. Nukes on Mars might help speed things us as would crashing comets into Mars to supply water. It will take time.

Still that said, the Queen’s Reserve Powers have been used in the 1970s in Australia to get rid of a Prime Minister dissolve Parliament, and force an election. Also all of the Military are loyal to the Queen as Head of State and NOT to Parliament!

Raoul Pal says this is a global issue affecting every country. The country balance sheet is unbalanced. I’m not sure if I understand it well at all.

A bond is issued with no security behind it except a promise. It then gets counted as an asset in the balance sheet for a favored category. A ponzi scheme in the balance sheet. A gamble that some future unknown will put value back into the balance sheet.

It’s vastly esoteric. Pal was a Goldman Sachs trader and has a good grasp of the economic macros.

The fundamental commodities are food and shelter. Base value is achieved there. Except where a banker says he has two carrots instead of one. 5 houses instead of 1 inb his balance sheets. Then globally the psychology of people begin to sort this out.

Looks like the Salvation Army got a clue. It’s too late but at least they realized they got bitch slapped

The Salvation Army has withdrawn its controversial “Let’s Talk About … Racism” guide following criticism and donor backlash over the text that asked white supporters of the charity group to deliver “sincere” apologies for their race and the past sins of the Church.

As a result of some of the guide’s more extreme positions becoming public, donors and supporters across the country have been rescinding their support of the organization.

In a statement titled “The Salvation Army’s Response to False Claims on the Topic of Racism,” the 156-year-old organization denies that the purpose of the guide or subsequent discussions revolving around the guide were meant to tell anyone “how to think.” However, the group has also opted to withdraw the guide for “appropriate review.”

Bill Gates Charged with Murder for COVID-19 Vaccine Death in India’s High Court – Death Penalty Sought

The Indian Bar Association is reporting that murder charges have been filed in India’s High Court against two billionaires responsible for the AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, for the murder of a 23-year-old man who was injected with the shot.

The two named defendants are Bill Gates, and Adar Poonawalla, the CEO of Serum Institute of India (SII), reportedly the world’s largest vaccine maker. According to corporate news sources, Adar Poonawalla’s company produces not only the COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, but also over 50% of the world’s vaccines that are injected into babies.

The unnamed defendants are “other Government officials and leaders involved in the murder of a 23 year old man, who lost his life because of vaccination.”

    Yeah, this is fine………

Team builds first living robots—that can reproduce

Now scientists at the University of Vermont, Tufts University, and the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University have discovered an entirely new form of biological reproduction—and applied their discovery to create the first-ever, self-replicating living robots.

The same team that built the first living robots (“Xenobots,” assembled from frog cells—reported in 2020) has discovered that these computer-designed and hand-assembled organisms can swim out into their tiny dish, find single cells, gather hundreds of them together, and assemble “baby” Xenobots inside their Pac-Man-shaped “mouth”—that, a few days later, become new Xenobots that look and move just like themselves.

And then these new Xenobots can go out, find cells, and build copies of themselves. Again and again.

ok, why isotopes? isotopes of what? (yes, I remember what an isotope is)

Radio-isotopes have long been the go to source of heat and electrical power for all long term spacecraft. Not massive current draws but they last for multiple decades without maintenance. Just trying to remember the original isotopes sent with Voyager??? ALL of the outer solar system probes have been radio-isotope powered.

Actually we measured fuel in Kg, but to get there we went from US gallons with a density of 0.78 to Pounds to Kg and then in other paperwork convert that to Imperial gallons. Chance of making a total pig’s breakfast of it and to run out of fuel at 37,000 feet in mid Pacific ! VERY HIGH.

That’s why three different people checked the calculations independently and then did a … is that sounding like a logical weight for where we are headed?

    Never had a problem.

Unlike the Catalina flying boat crew in WWII who load heaps of fuel, the they ALL went down below to play poker whilst leaving the autopilot to fly unattended. After 6 hours someone noticed that the sun seemed to be setting on the WRONG side of the aircraft. They had been flying of huge circles as the roll knob was fractionally off center. Nowhere to go but into the ocean!

One night when we were at 10,000 feet descending into Fiji, a United Boeing 747 at 37,000 feet was passing overhead when they were supposed to be just ahead of us. Nandi Radar had been CELL CALLLING them for 30 minutes but they were all fast asleep heading for Antarctica! We called and called on emergency 121.7MHz as well as chatter VHF 123.45. We FINALLY woke them up. Then they descended under Nandi Control but as Nandi VORTAC was NOT alongside the runway (like everywhere else) but 10 miles up in the jungle above Nandi. They were dope and had not read their NOTAMS obviously and kept saying that they couldn’t see Nandi’s lights. In the end we put on all of our lights and told them to follow us. We were at 10,000 feet and by then they were at 5,000 and asking Nandi for descent to 2000 feet which would have them into a very dark mountain side. Idiots! They followed us around a 180 turn and eventually saw the runway lights and went visual and landed. The morons didn’t even say thanks for saving their (and 300 passengers) arses.

NEVER FLY UNITED…. or CONTINENTAL either as they LIE about their altitudes so that they can do ‘cruise climbs’ that saves fuel and the $$$$ goes into their pockets from management.

    SPIT

One night flying out of Honolulu bound Auckland, flying a DC-8-63 freighter full of all the nasty stuff that was normally banned to carry in passenger flights. We three were ALL totally exhausted because the bloody Hari Kristnas, has been banging their bongos all afternoon outside our pub. My eyes felt like they had lead weights on them. I looked across and the skipper was, head back, mouth open, totally asleep. The Flight Engineer’s head kept banging his head on my seat back, nodding off. I had my O2 mask on frantically sucking oxygen to stave off the need for sleep. Finally the engineer stood up between our seats, wearing his pressurized O2 mask. He said that if he went to sleep he’d fall over and wake himself up. We struggled until about 0430when the sky lightened and our brains reset … for it’s day again….We just let the skipper sleep and when he woke up at 0630 he felt refreshed enough to land the aircraft in Auckland, after his 3 1/2 hour nap.

A LOT of medicos actually live in NSW in Tweed Head right on the State Border and commute up onto the Gold Coast via HW1. My brother owns a mountain top right on the border up above Tweed, with a 270 degree view up and down the Gold Coast. Housing prices in Tweed are a bit below Gold Coast prices and you have the same beaches and canals.

Strange as the border goes right through the town, and even right through he bar of the local RSL (Returned Servicemens’ League) bar. There were different closing hours between Queensland and NSW. At midnight everyone just moved to the other end of the bar and kept partying on!

Good point. From 2015. They’ll jabber but the work it would take…nah (via instapundit)

This will involve hard work, of course. You can’t just sit online and preen to those who already agree with you. No siree. Instead, you’ll have to go around the states — traveling and preaching until the soles of your shoes are thin as paper. You’ll have to lobby Congress, over and over and over again. You’ll have to make ads and shake hands and twist arms and cut deals and suffer all the slings and arrows that will be thrown in your direction. You’ll have to tell anybody who will listen to you that they need to support you; that if they disagree, they’re childish and beholden to the “gun lobby”; that they don’t care enough about children; that their reverence for the Founders is mistaken; that they have blood on their goddamn hands; that they want to own firearms only because their penises are small and they’re not “real men.” And remember, you can’t half-ass it this time. You’re not going out there to tell these people that you want “reform” or that “enough is enough.” You’re going there to solicit their support for removing one of the articles within the Bill of Rights. Make no mistake: It’ll be unpleasant strolling into Pittsburgh or Youngstown or Pueblo and telling blue-collar Democrat after blue-collar Democrat that he only has his guns because he’s not as well endowed as he’d like to be. It’ll be tough explaining to suburban families that their established conception of American liberty is wrong. You might even suffer at the polls because of it. But that’s what it’s going to take. So do it. Start now. Off you go.

15 States Threaten To Pull $600 Billion From Banks That Won’t Give Equal Service To Energy Industry

    https://thefederalist.com/2021/11/30/15-states-threaten-to-pull-600-billion-from-banks-that-wont-give-equal-service-to-energy-industry/

Fifteen state financial officers sent a letter to U.S. banks last week noting $600 billion in assets they pledge to take elsewhere if the financial institutions embrace corporate wokeism and prohibit financing to the fossil fuel industry.

Led by West Virginia Republican Treasurer Riley Moore, the group promised “collective action” in the form of an “economic boycott.”

“Just as each state represented in this letter is unique in its governing laws and economy, our actions will take different forms,” they wrote in the letter obtained by The Federalist. “However, the overarching objective of our actions will be the same – to protect our states’ economies, jobs, and energy independence from these unwarranted attacks on our critical industries.”

Heard about this discussion on the radio this afternoon. From writers at The Atlantic:

Sarah Laskow: “How can it be that even after two years, I won’t be able to meet my friends and their kids at the aquarium, or a museum, or a pizza place without dedicating brain space to what we’re all risking? How are other parents handling this? As cases rise again and the season of sickness sets in, I asked that question to a small group of my Atlantic colleagues.”
    [..]
Becca Rosen: “I’ve been trying to make the case among my friends and to colleagues that getting COVID is not a sign of personal failure. We live in a society with illness, and we don’t blame people when they get flu. We have to learn to not see getting COVID as a moral failure. Because this is something we have to live with, and the truth is that we will all be exposed.”
    […]
Laskow: “I think my biggest question is: How much should I worry about my kid being an agent of spread as an unvaccinated person, given how many people around her are vaccinated? What is our responsibility as parents to other people, to keep our kid from infecting them? And then, what’s society’s responsibility toward us, as parents?”
    […]
Rosen: “Yeah, I mean, it really gets me, what my daughter went through when she was 5. We basically cut off all her closest friendships for months on end. And I think friendships at that age are so formative and so foundational to who you become. I think kids deserve a lot at this point. They’ve been through a lot. My daughter will say to me, ‘Your childhood was so special because you don’t have to deal with a pandemic.’ My 7-year-old articulates that. She gets what she’s been through and how abnormal and hard it was.”

I pity the kids whose parents are self-absorbed nut cases.

Now the geniuses in California are going after shipping

Did you know that, in addition, to all the other wanton destruction in this state, such as the electric car mandate (for which no infrastructure is yet being built), Democrats have similarly deliberately destructive plans for shipping? In 2027, they’re going to require all ships in California ports to turn off their onboard generators and run only onshore power.

This is a big deal, costing tens of millions per dock, and, of course, it’s going to require foreign-owned ships to spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions, per ship to make the conversions necessary to comport with the new law.

So if you’re a ship owner and you’re transporting goods either to or from the USA, and you think that California is geographically convenient, what you’re doing right now (this minute) is planning alternate destinations. You’re going to land your ship in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, etc., or even build a new facility in Baja.

But the conflict doesn’t stop there. Even if a company has the margins to afford the new infrastructure, California utilities are massively hiking their rates and are set to do so even more aggressively in the future. So even if you want to comply, there’s more at stake than money. The rate hike is going to mean a massive jobs exodus out of this state.

Now, imagine that you’re a company that provides certain critical infrastructure but you need electricity to operate and you’re regulated so you can’t hike prices. With doubled input costs wiping out your ability to stay solvent, then what? You shut down!

Money never moves when I want it to. I buy high, sell low. Thus my low presence in the stalk markets.

There’s no good way to be predictive except to manage the stress. but you would want to try and hold onto your 401K if it’s your retirement plan and you can.

If you are talking hundreds of dollars you can make that up with a temp job. IF you are talking thousands then a permanent job. If it’s more than that it would seem like its better to hold it.

But again everyone thinks differently about money. I cashed out my retirement to meet another persons needs. But that ended up making me homeless for awhile. The money was wasted. Other people will land on their feet when required to make choices. For yourself, do something you like. Don’t rush the decision. Ask other people what they would do given your circumstances. Then make your informed decision. A spectrum analysis sometimes makes it difficult to ask. But shoot for the target of asking one person a day. No penalties if you don’t.

That’s the theory. It doesn’t appear, then disappear, then reappear, and I don’t think we can predict super novas. Or maybe I’m just full of crap.

You are on the right track. The “star” of Bethlehem was not a star. Since existing stars, comets, and bright planets like Venus were well-known, the only explanation for a new, bright light in the sky would be a nova or supernova. Such an occurrence was recorded by Korean and Chinese astronomers in 5 BC, which would be the right time frame. But it was not particularly bright. A very bright nova or supernova, such as the one recorded by Tycho Brahe in 1572, would have left a remnant that we could see today but no such remnant can be found that dates to the time of Jesus. So the 5 BC event, recorded only by Eastern observers, seems the best candidate. It may be no coincidence that the Magi are recorded as coming from the East.

Crypto is currently functioning as a ponzi scheme in a gold rush. Lot of people rich on old cheap buys but then created a high tax for new people. That tax goes to the early buyers. So its not quite as de centralized as the creators envisioned.

A large influx of new users though. They are breaking all the trend metrics. And bringing some money sense with them. There are what are called defi liquidity mining apps that promise 10-200 percent returns on money invested. The current crypto people don’t see a problem with that. Anyone with econ in them knows a 200 percent return on money is destabilizing and not sustainable. It will create a big bubble if too many people get into it. Then a HUGE crash. Didn’t I tell you that the J6 Commission would rue the day they went after Steve Bannon?

Bannon is attempting to force investigators to expose who they’ve talked to and what they’ve said, peek into secret communications on the committee, and create a playbook for other resistant witnesses, according to several legal experts.

“There’s no cost to opposing Congress if you can give Congress a black eye for even daring to ask you questions,” said Kel McClanahan, an attorney who specializes in national security matters.

As Bannon faces criminal charges, he’s entitled to the evidence against him.

And in a typical galaxy-brain, Bannon countergambit, Trump’s former senior adviser is trying to make some of that evidence public.

According to a Sunday night court filing by federal prosecutors, that includes secret witness interviews by law enforcement and internal communications between House committee staff members. The Justice Department claims that, if this material were exposed to the public, it would cause “specific harms” like “witness tampering,” with the added effect of making it difficult to find impartial jurors at a future trial.

In a court filing on Tuesday, Bannon’s lawyers said the government’s argument was “festooned with hyperbole… perhaps designed to score points with the media.” That same day, a “press coalition” of 15 news organizations—including Buzzfeed, CNN, and The Washington Post—sided with Bannon and asked the judge overseeing the case to make documents available and reject what it called “this broad gag order.”

Bannon is severely raising the cost of coming after him—making good on his promise to turn this into the “misdemeanor from hell for Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden.”

Bannon’s attorneys on this case did not respond to repeated inquiries. However, in court documents, they strongly pushed back against the idea that Bannon’s strategy is to improperly use the evidence.

“This is a misdemeanor case,” they wrote in Tuesday’s filing. “It is not a case where witnesses have been intimidated. In the absence of any specific, particularized showing of actual harm, the Government conjures up a bogeyman.” Instead, Bannon’s lawyers said, “being able to use discovery materials to identify and question witnesses is not an improper purpose.”

He called for more info and was told that the Treasury weasels are laying the groundwork to take all currency (greenbacks) out of circulation and switch to an all digital monetary exchange system, because currency………wait for it……..can possibly pass along the COVID virus. My bud never submitted the RFQ and never signed the NDA that accompanied the RFQ. Our Marxist overlords are quite sure that they can make this happen without a congressional vote…

Infectious virus could be detected on copper surfaces for up to four hours, on cardboard for up to 24 hours, and on plastic and stainless steel for at least 72 hours.
