Wouldn’t kicking Russia off the SWIFT system mean that they don’t have to do foreign transactions in dollars? That hurts the US more than Russia.

Pfizer & Moderna Investors Run for the Exits

    https://www.thedesertreview.com/opinion/columnists/pfizer-moderna-investors-run-for-the-exits/article_f33832ce-9347-11ec-830c-6fe60d1a126b.html

Dowd predicts Moderna will drop to zero with bankruptcy as fraud related to concealing the COVID vaccine dangers surfaces, and he predicts Pfizer will become a sub-ten-dollar stock. Dowd explains that the smart money has already left Moderna and will soon be exiting Pfizer.

Dowd foresees an avalanche of lawsuits coming as the insurance industry continues to uncover the legions of mounting deaths coming from the complications of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.

Dowd teamed up with an insurance industry analyst and researched the life insurance claims. They found that since OneAmerica shocked the world by announcing a 40% rise in non-COVID deaths in younger working-class employees, multiple other insurance companies worldwide have seen the same thing – massive rises in non-COVID deaths. And the evidence inescapably points to the vaccines as the cause.
    .
    .
Meanwhile, the funeral company stocks have outperformed the S&P. “Funeral Home companies are growth stocks. They had a great year in 2021 compared to 2020, and they outperformed the S&P 500. The peer group of Funeral Home stocks was up 40 plus percent while the S&P was up 26 percent – and they started accelerating price-wise in 2021 during the roll-out of the vaccines – You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to connect the dots here.” See mark 5:55.
    .
    .
Other insurance companies have reported the same or worse death numbers as OneAmerica. For example, “Unum Insurance is up 36%, Lincoln National plus 57%, Prudential plus 41%, Reinsurance Group of America plus 21%, Hartford plus 32%, Met Life plus 24%, and Aegon – which is a Dutch insurer – saw in their US arm plus 57% in the 4th quarter – in the 3rd quarter they saw a 258% increase in death claims.” See mark 07:55.
    .
    .
“They raised (mortality) expectations 300,000 for 2022 over 2021 due to COVID plus ‘indirect COVID,’ which I think we know what that’s code for… They (Aegon) did a

$1.4 billion reinsurance deal with Wilton Reinsurance…what they were reinsuring were high face amount individual policies from 1 million to 10 million… (So) I think there is an asymmetric information situation going on in the insurance industry where some people have figured out something’s going on. They are off-loading their risk – they are not going to say what it is as they don’t want that information to get out as they unload the risk.”
    .
    .
The idea is that no company – upon government request – should have to pay for unforeseen complications resulting from an emergency product that they released to the world out of their goodness of the hearts, with the best of intentions. Right?

Wrong – not when your company accomplishes this through deceit, also known as fraud.

    MUCH more at the link

I kept seeing what I thought were biblical quotes then realized they were podcast time stamps.

    Mark 4:3-41
    New American Bible (Revised Edition)

3 [a]“Hear this! A sower went out to sow.
4 And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
5 Other seed fell on rocky ground where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep.
6 And when the sun rose, it was scorched and it withered for lack of roots.
7 Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it and it produced no grain.
8 And some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit. It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
9 He added, “Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.”

Correct however as things like Oil payments are all paid in USD that posed a serious problem for Putin. Unless he starts to exchange Russian oil for Chinese goods. Many other commodities are also USD denominated to obviate the need of foreign exchange risk during the nominal 12 weeks between placing an order and taking custody of the commodity.

mrs coldwarrior is a yuge birch tree fan as she is russian (see puchkin and dostoyhevsky) so, we have birch trees here…cut out a hunk and chew on it…the sugar is called xylitol…its a thing

last ear we bought birch syrup because of mrs coldwarrior’s love of birch trees on a whim. we use it only for duck and salmon, and once in a while, with champaign, on griswold iron waffles,

xylitol also increases saliva production, so i used it during radiation to my neck/head. it helped.

Calif. Reparations Task Force Split on Eligibility; Decision Delayed

The task force first met in June of 2021 but soon came up to a major issue of who receive reparations. In previous months, Secretary of State Shirley Weber has said that reparations would only be given to direct descendants of slaves. However, other members of the task force have since said that they would want to back a system where all black Californians would be covered in a tier-like system. While descendants of slaves would be at the top of the tier for receiving reparations, other black Californians hurt by “historic and systemic racism” could still receive funds. Mixed-race Californians with black ancestry and recent black immigrants from overseas countries would, theoretically, also be able to receive funds under such a tiered system.

It looks like Russia WILL be blocked from SWIFT

Technical preparations for Russia’s disconnection from the SWIFT interbank information system have begun. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba announced this on his Facebook page.

“The official decision has not been drawn up yet, but technical preparations for the decision and implementation of this sanction have already begun. We pushed and pushed and we succeeded. The entire vertical of Ukrainian diplomacy worked for that – from the President of Ukraine to the attaché at the Ukrainian embassy,” Kuleba wrote.

The Minister also thanked all the numerous people, in particular the Ukrainian diaspora, who put pressure on the governments to support this decision. “Ukrainian diplomats dedicate this victory to all defenders of Ukraine,” the Foreign Minister added.

On Saturday, February 26, it became known that Italy, Cyprus and Hungary had withdrawn their objections to Russia’s exclusion from SWIFT. Germany was the last to announce such a step. It was to the German government that the relevant online petition was sent, which has so far collected more than 300,000 signatures.

I have a question. According to what I’ve read, Putin gave Ukraine a short list of ‘demands’. First on the list was ‘forget this NATO crap’. I didn’t think NATO was much interested in adding Ukraine to its membership to begin with but whatever.

Now I wonder – given the mayhem Putin has unleashed (I’m sure Poland is thrilled with all the refugees at the border), would NATO be more open to bringing Ukraine under its umbrella, just as a banner to Putin HERE BUT NO FURTHER

    Oh, look. Right on cue:

New Research Points to Wuhan Market as Pandemic Origin

Scientists released a pair of extensive studies on Saturday that point to a market in Wuhan, China, as the origin of the coronavirus pandemic. The two reports, totalling about 150 pages, have not yet been published in a scientific journal.

The researchers analyzed data from a range of sources to look for clues to how the pandemic arose. They concluded that the coronavirus was present in live mammals sold in the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in late 2019. The research suggests that the virus very likely twice spilled over into people working or shopping at the market. The researchers said they found no support for an alternate hypothesis that the coronavirus escaped from a lab in Wuhan.

“When you look at all of the evidence together, it’s an extraordinarily clear picture that the pandemic started at the Huanan market,” said Michael Worobey, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Arizona and a co-author of both studies.

Oh my. The EU brings the hammer. Not just getting kicked out of SWIFT

    https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/statement_22_1423
First, we commit to ensuring that selected Russian banks are removed from the SWIFT messaging system. This will ensure that these banks are disconnected from the international financial system and harm their ability to operate globally.

Second, we commit to imposing restrictive measures that will prevent the Russian Central Bank from deploying its international reserves in ways that undermine the impact of our sanctions.

Third, we commit to acting against the people and entities who facilitate the war in Ukraine and the harmful activities of the Russian government. Specifically, we commit to taking measures to limit the sale of citizenship—so called golden passports—that let wealthy Russians connected to the Russian government become citizens of our countries and gain access to our financial systems.

Fourth, we commit to launching this coming week a transatlantic task force that will ensure the effective implementation of our financial sanctions by identifying and freezing the assets of sanctioned individuals and companies that exist within our jurisdictions. As a part of this effort we are committed to employing sanctions and other financial and enforcement measures on additional Russian officials and elites close to the Russian government, as well as their families, and their enablers to identify and freeze the assets they hold in our jurisdictions. We will also engage other governments and work to detect and disrupt the movement of ill-gotten gains, and to deny these individuals the ability to hide their assets in jurisdictions across the world.

Finally, we will step up or coordination against disinformation and other forms of hybrid warfare.

THREAD 1/7 Intel from a Ukrainian officer about a meeting in Putin’s lair in Urals. Oligarchs convened there so no one would flee. Putin is furious, he thought that the whole war would be easy and everything would be done in 1-4 days.
    .
    .
2/7 Russians didn’t have a tactical plan. The war costs about $20 bln/day. There are rockets for 3-4 days at most, they use them sparingly. They lack weapons, the Tula and 2 Rotenberg plants can’t physically fulfil the orders for weapons. Rifles and ammo are the most they can do.
    .
    .
3/7 The next Russian weapons can be produced in 3-4 months – if even that. They have no raw materials. What was previously supplied mainly from Slovenia, Finland and Germany is now cut off.

I don’t understand any of it but it’s interesting

Scientists baffled after discovering new substance deep in Earth’s core

Or as experts have called it, a “superionic state.“

Deep within lies a concoction of “lighter” elements, alongside superheated solid and liquid states.

These include hydrogen, oxygen and carbon molecules, swirling around in a grid-like lattice of iron.

“It is quite abnormal,” Professor He Yu, who lead the research said.

“The solidification of iron at the inner core boundary does not change the mobility of these light elements, and the convection of light elements is continuous in the inner core.”

Temperatures are thought to be well over 5,500 degrees celsius, which is around the same scorching heat you can expect on the Sun’s surface.

    LOL I LOVE the Internet!

So, the Ukraine got pissed at Russia when Russia annexed the Crimea in 2014 and stopped buying natural gas from Russia.

The Ukraine then bought natural gas from other European countries instead.

Sounds great! Hey I would do the same.

But a lot of natural gas that Europe imports is from Russia and a lot of it is supplied by pipelines that enter Western Europe via the Ukraine.

So, the Ukraine does not get natural gas from Russia. They get it from other European countries, who get it from Russia. Via the pipelines that pass through the Ukraine.

You still with me on this LOL

    https://www.eia.gov/international/analysis/country/UKR

Historically, Ukraine has received the majority of its natural gas imports from Russia. However, following Russia’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, Ukraine halted direct natural gas imports from Russia and replaced those imports with natural gas from European countries. Much of the natural gas imported from Europe, however, originates in Russia and travels into Ukraine through reverse flows from central and eastern European countries.

Thankfully in the UK they changed the colours of wires in power cords from Red=live Green=Ground ( earth ) and black=neutral

Now they are Brown=live a really cool green and yellow stripy thingy= ground and Blue=neutral.

Otherwise red/green colour blind electricians would now be an extinct species…

    Yup.
Alas most of those who were forced kicking and screaming to jab stations under threat of being dismissed are now ruing the day that they caved too early.

I used to go to Russian households in NZ when I was working for a certain organization and they’d tell me how good it was for you. I was playing the part of a Russophile and had to smile and take it like a man. A KGB guy used to have a huge carboy of the stuff on his refrigerator top. it had a little tap on the carboy and he used to insist I take a swig…. for my health! Bloody KGB! He was the one who almost killed both of us by driving a car the wrong way up a motorway at zero dark thirty to drop of a ‘tail’. Fortunately there were few cars about at that time. Tell me about it. We used to attend all of the diplomatic functions that the Soviet Embassy staged in Wellington. We were the token Kiwi faces. Interestingly we were obviously NOT political ‘supporters’ of the Sovs but purely Russophile supporters. I face even the GRU and KGB guys at the embassy thought and expressed opinions that Kiwi members of the pro-Soviet ‘NZ Socialist Unity Party’ were traitors to their country of birth, and couldn’t be trusted. We on the other hand were non-political Russophiles and were admitted to gain access to virtually all of the embassy staff, except the comms guys who lived a life of monks!

Once we organized an orchestra recital (Auckland Symphonia) of Russian music. Amongst others we made Russian dishes, in our case plates of ‘Peroschkies’. I accidentally spilled a paper plate of rather large ‘peroshkies’ into the gutter, but retrieved them , dusted the dirt off them and put them back on the plate.

    Nobody noticed!

    🙂

We didn’t eat ‘Peroshkies’ on that occasion!

Day 4- SITREP: The gulf between popular perception and strategic reality continues to grow in Ukraine.

If you only read Western media, you would think the Russian military was on the verge of defeat.

In reality, they have a clear path to victory.

Satellite imagery indicates that a massive Russian armored column, with +800 vehicles, is approaching Kiev from the north.

At the same time, Russian forces in the East are working to link up and encircle a large fraction of the Ukrainian military.

What we’re witnessing is a funhouse mirror version of the Gulf War.

During that conflict, images of smart bombing broadcast into American homes highlighted U.S. dominance.

Today, Twitter images of Ukrainian tactical success are creating a false narrative of Russian defeat.

The single least appreciated fact about the current conflict is that Russia has only committed 1/2 to 2/3 of the forces it built up around Ukraine’s borders.

It also has the ability to draw Belarus into the war, whose armored divisions would represent a potent “fourth wave.”

What Russia *has* suffered is a massive defeat in information warfare.

The narrative of Ukrainian success is having real consequences in terms of the willingness of foreign powers to toughen sanctions and provide military aid.

We have already seen the Ruble fall to its lowest exchange rate in history (100:1) vs. the Dollar.

This is not quite enough to destabilize the Russian economy – in the sense of causing internal political chaos – but it’s enough that ordinary Russians are scared.

Before the war, Western polling showed that Russians favored military intervention in Ukraine to prevent NATO membership by a 2:1 margin.

But it’s clear that they did not appreciate that Russia would become a global pariah state. I don’t believe the war enjoys that support now.

Do Soros’ interests really have to do with backing Ukraine?

A number of pro-mass immigration groups, including those with financial ties to Soros, have already begun urging Biden to open the nation’s borders to tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees. The groups also want Biden to provide Ukrainians in the U.S. with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to ensure they cannot be arrested or deported by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency and are eligible for work permits.

The description of Moroccan goats in trees is incomplete. They eat the berries of the argon tree, then local Berber women pick the nuts out of the goat poop and crack them open to extract the seeds which they mash into a pulp for argan oil that they smear on their faces and put in their hair as cosmetics. They also eat it. Only women are allowed to make argan oil.

The Berbers also made carpets and were the first to make purple dye from seashells for the Roman emperors. The Barbary Pirates were Islamic Berbers.

The only stuff missing is the vast graft and corruption of the Ukraine State by large oil companies and actors like Soros et al who sniff huge future oil and especially gas revenues, flowing into Western oil companies and to shareholders.

This presentation also covers the Strategic questions that are driving Russia’s fears paranoid over its Western approaches.

Attempts to reach the sites returned an anti-war message that urged Russian citizens to “stop the madness” and “not to send your sons and husbands to certain death.” The message was signed by the hacker group Anonymous, as well as “Concerned journalists of Russia.” Following the incident, TASS published a statement saying that their editorial office had “nothing to do” with the message.

Kharkiv under fire: Massive rocket strikes hit Ukraine’s second largest city on Monday, Ukrainian Interior Ministry officials said. According to Interior Ministry advisor Anton Herashchenko, dozens of people have been killed and hundreds more were wounded. Ukrayinska Pravda reported that the shelling hit three micro-districts that are home to more than a million people. “It’s horrible, they hit residential buildings with artillery. It’s not yet possible to calculate the losses. Perhaps the offensive will go further,” said Roman Semenukha, the deputy head of the Kharkiv regional administration.

Our blue-collar benefactors now face the consequences of the scorched-earth policies adopted by the anointed class. Many have lost their rigs. Operating licenses have been revoked. Criminal charges have been laid. Bans on trucker commerce have proliferated. Bankruptcy looms for many. Livelihoods have been demolished. Families have been obliterated. Marriages are bound to collapse. And I suspect that suicides will mount as desperation sees no escape from ruination. In effect, Justin Trudeau declared war on those who kept the goods and services flowing through the ersatz pandemic and who enabled the populace to weather the government-induced travesty. Gratitude is not in the dwindling catalogue of common virtues. The casualties, though hidden by the Soviet-style media, are devastating.
    .
    .
The fact is that the government from hell is working to transform a democratic nation into a police state and normalize totalitarian rule without having to mobilize the military and scramble its jet fighters. It moves subtly, insidiously, through legislation, decree, deception, legal subterfuge, financial penalties, and targeted defamation. It divides a country into sectarian belligerents, employs tested techniques of misinformation and disinformation, prevents the free expression of opinion (Bill C-11), and impoverishes and segregates its perceived adversaries. It manipulates a strategy of covert control which, in the long run, may be more effective than overt physical repression. It doesn’t need tanks; a few RCMP horses will do. Slander and sanctimony are excellent weapons.

Now me knowing nothing about anything the time for armed civilians to emerge is when a country has been completely over run and then they start the guerilla war.

Taking over a country by overwhelming military force is comparatively easy as compared to the keeping of that territory against the will of the majority of the population.

Many of the aircraft of Russian airlines are leased. Most or the Russian civil fleet of Airbus type aircraft are leased from companies in Ireland.

The leasing companies are terminating the leases of these aircraft and demand they be returned. Yeah, that will show those damn Russkies who is boss!

In totally unrelated news Russian airlines are banned from entering most of Western European airspace.

So Russian airlines who predominantly lease their aircraft are prohibited from flying them anywhere.

The leasing companies have terminated the leases.

YEAH!!!!! The Russians just got out of long term leases for aircraft they no longer can use.

If they’re going to start kicking countries out of the UN, the list should be pretty long (North Korea or Iran, anyone?).

BUT no capital to develop these huge reserves of energy. The attacks of 2014 scared the oil companies out of the country. Actually that is BS mate. The Luftwaffe was totally professional and knew exactly where they were and what their task was. They used radio DF in France to navigate and their target marking was pretty accurate. London , Birmingham, Manchester, and even Bristol were easy to see, by follow on bombers, when they were burning.

The main problem was the lack of German heavy bombers. That was a strategic SNAFU as Hitler figured on a fast war with no need for long term heavy bombing. He was wrong, the Brits were correct and the Yanks… well the yanks made up for their B-17’s lack of bomb carrying capacity, by just using more of them!

Read your history mate. The Russians asked to not only join the EU but also NATO just after 2000. The Europeans and ESPECIALLY the US were totally against Russia EVER entering into the European community. With aRussia inside NATO that would destroy the very premise of NATO and the US was totally against that, as the US’ presence inside Europe as the core of NATO gave it a degree of control that kept Europe ‘in its box’, and the US dominant.

Well as we are delving deep into history, “Bomber Harris” was an advocate of area bombing which caused civilian casualties as it was not accurate.

This was during a time when Germany was using the V1 and later V2 weapons which were far from accurate. They were ” terror” or ” vengeance ” weapons. Designed to create fear and panic in the civilian population.

The main designer of the V2 later went to work for an American company.

His V2 rockets during WWII never hit what they were aiming at. Just exploded randomly where they fell.

Almost 30 years later that man finally designed a rocket that went exactly to the target it was aimed at.

Actually mate you are wrong both in your time line as well as the reasons for RAF area bombing. RAF area bombing had been de regure for at least 2-3 years BEFORE the V1 and V2 Weapons entered the war on the German side. Harris was quoted that he was going to break the will of the German people by area bombing. In that he failed.

The reason for Area bombing was that the tech involved was just not up to the task for accurate night time bombing. The US Army Airforce used daytime area bombing and paid a huge and deadly price in B-17 losses. In the end Germany just ran out of pilots as its aircraft production peaked as late as mid 1944!

Yup and for a long time the Luftwaffe had no answer to the ‘wooden wonder’. There is a hangar not far from here that remanufactures Mosquitos mostly for American millionaires. The company has rebuilt the form work from the original drawings and reinvented the metal forms from which the ply skins were bent to fit and the wooden frames were positioned. The Merlin engines come from Thai tanks of post war vintage that are remanufactured for use in aircraft.

The Norton bomb sight was really high tech in the 1940s and the Germans had nothing as complex. von Braun belonged to a German amateur rocketry club prewar. He was recruited by the NAZIs and willingly joined the Party to advance his ‘hobby’. By the time the V1 and especially the V2 happened he was the world class expert o intermediate range missiles. He and his core crew surrendered to the US forces in Europe in 1954 and were wisked off to the States where they developed an advanced version of the V2 and finally contributed to the building of the Redstone. The little problem of being paid up members of the NAZI Party were conveniently forgotten about!

On the night of 9/10 March 1945, the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) conducted a devastating firebombing raid on Tokyo, the Japanese capital city. This attack was code-named Operation Meetinghouse by the USAAF and is known as the Great Tokyo Air Raid in Japan.[1] Bombs dropped from 279 Boeing B-29 Superfortress heavy bombers burned out much of eastern Tokyo. More than 90,000 and possibly over 100,000 Japanese people were killed, mostly civilians, and one million were left homeless, making it the most destructive single air attack in human history. The Japanese air and civil defenses proved largely inadequate; 14 American aircraft and 96 airmen were lost.

And they knew exactly what they were doing:

On 8 March, LeMay issued orders for a major firebombing attack on Tokyo the next night.[68] The raid was to target a rectangular area in northeastern Tokyo designated Zone I by the USAAF which measured approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) by 3 miles (4.8 km). This area was divided by the Sumida River, and included most of Asakusa, Honjo and Fukagawa Wards.[69] These wards formed part of the informally defined Shitamachi district of Tokyo, which was mainly populated by working-class people and artisans.[70] With a population of around 1.1 million, it was one of the most densely populated urban areas in the world.[71] Zone I contained few militarily significant industrial facilities, though there were a large number of small factories which supplied Japan’s war industries. The area was highly vulnerable to firebombing, as most buildings were constructed from wood and bamboo and were closely spaced.[52] Due to this vulnerability, it had suffered extensive damage and heavy casualties from fires caused by the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake. The United States’ intelligence services were aware of how vulnerable the region remained to fire, with the Office of Strategic Services rating it as containing the most combustible districts in Tokyo

Sneeky brits built a fake steel factory and kept the lights on at night.

Talk about being sneaky. The US fearing Japanese long range submarines threat to the West coast used huge camoflage nets covering massive aircraft factories in Los Angeles. Why put up camoflage nets in telephone poles to protect against Japanese subs you ask? The subs carried large photo recce aircraft on their decks in waterproof hangars! One flew over Auckland and Sydney in 1943 looking for the US heavy cruiser Chicago. They found it in Sydney and unteathered 4 mini-subs to sink it at its moorings. They failed.

    I did that one yesterday.

The Ukraine does not buy natural gas from Russia. They get it from Western Europe.

The pipelines that supply Western Europe mostly go via the Ukraine.

Nord Stream one is currently functional. Nord stream 2 is alongside the Nord Stream one.

Main objection is when Nord Stream 2 is operational less gas will transit the Ukraine.

Pipeline operators pay the countries where pipelines cross their countries a fee. Like air traffic control fees.

Less gas going through the Ukraine and gas transit payments are reduced.

Stopping Nord Stream 2 means that the Ukraine gas transit fees are not reduced.

He launched from the UK at about 4 am when it was still dark, couldn’t really see much of the Channel going over, used what was already lit up as targets. On the way back it was daylight and he said you could have walked back on the water there were so many ships. He was supposed to fly a 2nd sortie but the guys were getting off the beaches by then and they didn’t need to bomb their side.

He didn’t even know which of the beach areas he had bombed. I had to do the research and tell him. Utah.

I’ve always disagreed with Dad on that one. The Allies knew what was happening with the camps, etc. Dresden and Hamburg weren’t enough. Hubby had a business trip to Cologne some years back, toured the Cathedral where the guides told everyone that the Allies had so much respect for their culture they spared it. True darkwoods. The cunning bastards also use intermediaries and ‘cut outs’ to mask their nefarious purchases. Ukraine were charging billions for Russian gas to cross the country, and Vlad was not well pleased. Then when Vlad took Crimea the Ukies cut off all of the water flowing down a canal into Crimea causing a huge drought and Vlad had to import water by truck over the Azov Sea bridge.

This whole ‘punch up’ is complicated and involves, gas and oil supplies, Russian financials, Russian demographics, and especially Russian geographical vulnerabilities from the West.

    2. Pull back NATO from recent joiners, like Poland and the Balts, means that they would be wide open to Russian threats a to comply, and they too would be pulled back into a Russian buffer state situation, and be divorced from Western Europe.

    FWIW

No, You’re Not Imagining It: Russia’s Army Is Inept

And so, as the Russian invaders met resistance, they didn’t quite know what to do. Military operations designed to take place sequentially—Step 1, then 2, then 3, etc.—fell apart, catastrophically. If Step 2 hit a big obstacle, the by-the-book soldiers moved on to Step 3 anyway. Therefore, large troop-transport planes tried to land, even though the airport hadn’t been completely secured and Ukrainian air defense systems hadn’t been destroyed. As a result, two Il-76 transport planes, each carrying 100 airborne troops, were shot down.

Similarly, tanks aren’t supposed to roll through hostile territory all alone. They need to be escorted by infantry troops alongside or by combat planes from above, to avoid getting ambushed. Yet, in this invasion, Russian tanks are rolling all on their own or providing protection for reconnaissance scouts, but getting no protection for themselves. So, as might be expected, lots of Russian tanks are getting ambushed.

Nor have the Russians established air superiority, even though their air force far outnumbers Ukraine’s. As a result, Ukrainian drones have been picking off Russian convoys with impunity.

There is a larger factor here: The Russian army is composed, by and large, of one-year conscripts, who are poorly trained (even within the confines of Russian military training), badly treated, and uninspired by ideology or any other motivating spirit. Hence the stories of captured Russian troops who had no idea why they were in Ukraine. At least a few didn’t even know that they were in Ukraine—they thought they were still doing exercises in Belarus. Others have reportedly been found knocking on village doors for food or, in one case, asking a local police station for fuel.

Whether it is true is by the point. A great many Chekists especially in the top echelons were in fact atheistic Jews, but whether they made up 2/3 or 3/4 of the total numbers doesn’t matter. It is what the Ukie tradition believes happened. when they hang the blame for the deaths of 5-6 million family members.

FERTILIZER CRISIS ABOUT TO BECOME A FOOD CRISIS

As Europe’s farmers prepare to spread fertilizers on fields after winter, sky-high nutrient prices are leaving them little choice but to use less and try to pass on the cost down the food chain.

For growers of staples like corn and wheat, it’s the first time they’ve really been exposed to a fertilizer crisis fueled by an energy crunch, export curbs and trade sanctions. It now costs much more to buy chemicals needed for winter crops coming out of dormancy, and the extra expense could prompt smaller spring plantings that make up roughly a third of European grain.

Europe has been hardest hit by fertilizer-plant cutbacks on soaring costs of natural gas used to run them — and nutrient prices there remain at a record even as the pressure eased in North America. Europe could face a deficit of about 9% of its annual nitrogen-fertilizer needs in the first half, VTB Capital estimates. Food may get even pricier if harvests suffer or crop prices rise.

Very true HOWEVER don’t be fooled by your own imaginings. The first wave of Russians were conscripts (AKA Cannon Fodder). The Follow on troops are regulars and they are a VERY different enemy. Finally the creame de la creame regular Guards, SF and Marines, especially if Putin lets them off the leash would decimate the Ukies. Putin doesn’t have endless supplies so he will commit his regulars anytime soon and let them loose.

    @ eaglesoars:

There is a larger factor here: The Russian army is composed, by and large, of one-year conscripts, who are poorly trained (even within the confines of Russian military training), badly treated, and uninspired by ideology or any other motivating spirit

That’s been the case pretty much forever. It was no different in the Soviet era. I think they were conscripted for two years back then. They’ve always been poorly trained, poorly supplied, and poorly led.

They have no professional NCO corps, so officers fill roles that should be done by sergeants. And the officers are usually the only ones who have seen the op order, or even a map. That’s how you get soldiers who don’t know what their mission is, or even what country they’re in.

    point

The point is that the ‘truth’ is what the ‘people’ culturally believe is true.
The Western Ukies actually threw their hand in with the Wermacht and even the SS because of the Stalin initiated famine, which they traditionally blame on Jews at the leadership level of the Russian Cheka. Blood debts 5-6 million strong establishes itself in the culture of a people.

Sometimes I think an actual kinetic war would be cleansing.

UC Berkeley education professor Zeus Leonardo: “To abolish whiteness is to abolish white people. That’s very uncomfortable perhaps, but it asks about our definitions of what race is and what racial justice might mean.”

    @ eaglesoars:

I saw something the other day about DHS asking Border Patrol agents to volunteer for temporary duty in eastern Europe to help process refugees resulting from the fighting in Ukraine.

Might as well, I guess, since they aren’t doing anything on OUR border…

    @ eaglesoars:

Not sure why anyone would take seriously anything written by someone calling himself Zeus Leonardo, but whatever. The guy’s a menace:

Zeus Leonardo has published numerous articles and book chapters on critical social thought in education. His articles have appeared in Educational Researcher; Race, Ethnicity, and Education; Teachers College Record; and Educational Philosophy and Theory. Some of his essays include: “Critical Social Theory and Transformative Knowledge,” “The Souls of White Folk,” “The Color of Supremacy,” “Contracting Race,” and “Dis-orienting Western Knowledge.” His most recent books are Race, Whiteness, and Education (Routledge), Race Frameworks (Teachers College Press), Education and Racism (with Grubb, Routledge, 2nd ed), and he is the editor the Handbook of Cultural Politics and Education (SensePublishers).

Professor Leonardo’s current research interests involve the study of ideologies and discourses in education with respect to structural relations of power. Much of his work is interdisciplinary and draws insights from sociology, contemporary philosophy, and cultural studies. In particular, he engages critical theories to inform his analysis of the relationship between schooling and social relations, such as race, class, culture, and gender. His research is informed by the premise that educational knowledge should promote the democratization of schools and society. He is an Affiliated Faculty Member of the Critical Theory Designated Emphasis at UC Berkeley. He is finishing a book on Edward Said and Education, to appear in Routledge’s Key Ideas Book Series.

I know that it used to be like that during the Cold War but I’m not sure it remains the same today. I think the conscripts training is harsh cruel and stupid and that the senior conscripts after 8 months or so become NCOs and go on to ‘monster’ the next intake of conscripts. I do however know that the regular army has a NCO corps that is professional, as is the officer corps. The Russian command structure is still light years behind a western army but the weapon systems are effective

There were a lot of Jews involved at the leadership level of the revolution, but I wasn’t clear on Cheka

That’s why you get the big bucks. 🙂 I’m too optimistic about human nature. I’m more wary of US elite who have more power. I’d like a strong react to the Ukraine from the west. As a message to China re Taiwan. How strong that has to be I don’t know.

Now the Chinese I know are super nationalistic. It is hard to deter them unless one is working at their leadership level.
