IT’S AN OPEN THREAD!
We went in last week $1500/$1000 for the year, last week we were 2/4…so still at $1500/$1000. I would have quit if this were real money.
Let’s get to it!

Rain is pleased this year! The Vols look Great! Now, here is their biggest test in years, they have to play ‘Bama at home to prove that they belong. The Vols are getting 9 at home and the starting QB for ‘Bama has a bum shoulder. The money on this game has been the most this year. The pros think The Vols cover, so do I. Do they win? I’d like to see that.

This has been happening since July. So, they are preparing PT and ortho appointments for me. Starting last night, the pain changed to constant. Seriously this sucks.

Classification & Compensation Study — I was reviewing these from some local government. They want to spend money to determine how much to pay their employees. In the days of the internet these things are a waste of taxpayer dollars. One can easily peg and weight all jobs in the country and measure them against local wages. Just match IT network admin against the housing inventory and the cost of rent. Then see who wants the job at that price. Raise as needed. (they never go lower)
pay the mayor 1.5 times the IT network admin II salary.

How hurdles for transgender voters may affect November’s midterms
In two states — Tennessee and Georgia — restrictive policies that require transgender residents to provide proof of gender-affirming surgery, a court order or an amended birth certificate to change their gender designation on state-issued driver’s licenses is compounded with some of the most stringent voter ID laws in the country.
Under Georgia state law, photo identification is required to cast a ballot. If an ID is not presented, a vote may be cast using a provisional ballot, but the voter is required to return to the polling place within three days to show proof of identification. In Tennessee, an ID must be presented within two days of voting.

The video caption reads, “What is Cricket’s favorite part about being a woman? Living in FULL COLOR ✨❤️,” and has garnered over 10,000 views on the social media app.
It features a transgender woman named Cricket Temple who is a scientist for the company. In the 21-second video, Temple describes what the most enjoyable aspect of being a woman is. Additionally, Cricket says, “I lead the change by bringing to attention the things that people would rather not see, both in science and in society.”

Semiconductors: China Is Fucked
I already touched on this story in Friday’s LinkSwarm, but lots of other people are now twigging to just how huge a story this is. Let’s start with that: “US Firms Pull Staff From China’s Top Chip Maker As Economic War Worsens.”
.
.
It’s hard to overemphasize how badly fucked China’s chip industry is with this latest move. Semiconductor equipment not only needs regular maintenance, but extremely specialized expertise when something goes wrong and your yields crash, wizards who can look at a wafer defect chart and determine by experience what’s gone wrong with which tool. Without support and spare parts from the western semiconductor equipment giants, expect yields to start crashing in a matter of months, if not weeks, especially if Applied Materials and Tokyo Electron join the pullout.
I just put in a call to the Applied Materials press office to ask them about this. I’ll let you know if I hear back.
As Peter Zeihan notes, these sanctions screw not only China’s semiconductor industry, but every segment of the high tech assembly chain that depends on them.

BlackRock’s focus on the latest Wall Street craze—environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing—has turned into a risky affair for the world’s largest asset manager, a UBS analyst recently said.
Brennan Hawken, an analyst at the bank, downgraded the stock of BlackRock (NYSE: BLK) to Neutral from Buy and slashed the stock price target to $585 from $700 over growing pushback to its ESG efforts.
“We are downgrading BLK to Neutral based on environmental pressure to earnings and risk from the firm’s ESG positioning,” Hawken wrote in a note, stating that BlackRock could face increased regulatory inspection and the possibility of diminished fund management business.

This Nearly Lost Ancient Grain Tradition Could Be the Future of Farming
Ethiopia is one of the few places in the world where farmers still grow maslins, the general term for different varieties and species of grain that are sown in the same field, or intercropped. Maslins sustained humans for millennia, possibly predating the rise of agriculture more than 10,000 years ago. These grain mixtures tend to be more resilient to pests and drought, and to lend more complex flavors to breads, beer, and booze.

Danchenko Walks: Leftwing Alexandria, Virginia Jury Once Again Acquits a Guilty-as-Sin Russiagate Figure
Special counsel John Durham stepped into a federal courtroom this week, officially to try Igor Danchenko for lying to the FBI as part of the 2016 Russia-collusion scam. Unofficially, Mr. Durham is putting the Federal Bureau of Investigation itself on trial for incompetence and political chicanery.
That’s the now unmistakable mission of the Durham prosecutions. The special counsel is using tried-and-true “lying to the feds” charges to unravel for the public the hoax–which on its face requires painting the FBI as dupes. Yet every filing and witness question is instead building Mr. Durham’s case of rank FBI malfeasance.
Mr. Danchenko pleaded not guilty, His trial–and prior to it Mr. Durham’s unsuccessful prosecution of Democratic lawyer Michael Sussmann–has by now yielded a scandalous portrait of an FBI willing to take nearly any step–and cut any corner–to harm Donald Trump…
https://ace.mu.nu/archives/401442.php
Well, Durham, don’t try to portray the FBI as dupes when they are quite obviously co-conspirators. He brought a knife to a gunfight and essentially lied to the jury.
Altho Ace is right about moving these trials out of Northern Virginia.

Probably because my (paternal) grandmother had kept some of these dresses and offered them to my mom (who politely declined). Mimi didn’t have any daughters but she had TONS of granddaughters. By the time Mimi died, the dresses had disappeared but I wish I had understood and put some aside.

Missouri Latest State To Divest From BlackRock Over ‘Woke’ ESG Agenda
https://climatechangedispatch.com/missouri-latest-state-to-divest-from-blackrock-over-woke-esg-agenda/
Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick [pictured] announced Tuesday morning in a statement first provided to FOX Business that the Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System (MOSERS), of which he is a member, sold all public equities managed by BlackRock. [bold, links added]
With the announcement, Missouri joins a growing list of Republican-led states who have quit BlackRock and other banks over their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
“This is the right thing to do for Missouri state employees who rely on the assets managed by MOSERS for their retirement,” Fitzpatrick told FOX Business.
“Fiduciary duty must remain the top priority for investment managers—a duty some of them have abdicated in favor of forcing a left-wing social and political agenda that has failed to succeed legislatively, on publicly traded companies.”

1st bracket is 10% on those earnings $0 to X dollars
2nd is higher % from X (the top of the last brackete) dollars to Y dollars
3rd is higher

the percentage paid is only on money earned within that bracket. so if the bracket ends t 100k and is 22% and you earn 110K
you pay the higher next bracket rate on the additional 10k only

Why Global Elites Won’t End War in Ukraine Until Russia is Destroyed
As the establishment continues to pump out more finely tuned propaganda to support throwing eye-watering stacks of money at Ukraine, it’s glaringly apparent the conflict isn’t ending anytime soon, at least if the western elites get their way.
Unless you are blindfolded by media narratives, the money thrown at Ukraine is painful to watch, especially coinciding with soaring inflation, gas prices, and energy costs. Meanwhile, vast swathes of Europe – specifically Germany, face a complete grid collapse and possibly famine, made worse by the recent Nord Stream pipeline sabotage.
Those daring to question why the Ukraine war is dragging on are labeled Pro-Putin sympathizers or conspiracy theorists – the usual tactics the liberal media deploys in order to shame us into silence.

The dollar’s borrowing power is artificially inflated due to its use as the world reserve currency. Most transactions are conducted in U.S. dollars, forcing nations to sell goods to the U.S. in exchange for fiat paper.
In 2012, nations like Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa embarked on serious discussions of forming their own bank to finance infrastructure.
In 2014, an agreement was signed to create the New Development Bank to finance projects in the BRICS nations.
This was a significant threat to the Federal Reserve and the global elites because it offered alternative credit sourcing. The BRICS bank created development loans using fractional reserve lending, increasing the money supply without the consent of the fed.

“Not only did I tell him that we were in agreement with consolidating ourselves as a region, including the three countries—Canada, the United States, Mexico—but we were also in favor of the unity of the entire American continent to repeat our project that, just as the European community first emerged and became the European Union. Read that today. One of dregs bemoaned the fact VW employees wouldn’t give him a bowl to crap in. Well played VW. Well played.
CDC wants to jab your kids.

“A CDC panel of U.S. vaccine experts has decided to add the COVID-19 shot to its list of recommended vaccines for children.”
Yeah. Who listens to the CDC with their body count rising daily.
Well this is just weird. I try to launch WMAL radio station on my laptop so I can listen to Chris Plante. It launches some sports station instead. Do a google search for WMAL and click on THAT link and it’s fine.
Steve Bannon sentence coming up. The judge said his executive privilege argument doesn’t cut it. I’m thinking this is going to be brutal.

Not as bad as I feared

One person spent 7 MONTHS in jail over a bogus stolen car charge.
Driving the news: The Truss government’s aggressive tax-cutting plans roiled bond markets, and the resulting surge in yields wreaked havoc on U.K. pensions. Although that drama was relatively contained to Britain, warning signs for the U.S. are beginning to assert themselves.

I have a ways to go before I understand all this, so I still think the tax cuts were a good idea, altho I ‘get’ that debt is an issue

They use frozen chickens loaded into sabots to get a nice tight fit in the launch tube. Then apply a few thousand PSI to their arse and you have a cold chicken that never travelled that fast in their short lives.
From a NON-tasting perspective however about 30 gulls running into a Roles Royce fan-jet just after take off is quite interesting. Engine #1 was running like a lawnmower and #2 engine just went from Take Off Thrust to STOPPED in about half a revolution. How it never fell off the wing is anyone’s guess given that much torque! We only spent 8 minutes from take off until we rolled to a stop outside the terminal again!
Didn’t do much for sea gull body structure either.

Just reading Hell’s Cartel about IG Farben the huge German cartel. Started off as a dye manufacturer and invented Asprin, and 65 years later was making Hitler’s poison gas and ammunition.
We seem to be in the same situation as German cartels were in in the late 1800s but the world is now moving 3 times as fast towards the ‘Nuremberg crimes against humanity solution!’

I think that is an unappreciated attribute of our lives. The rate of change is so extraordinary a lot of people have trouble keeping up
So some woman on the Fairfax County School Board used the word ‘retarded’ to refer to disabled children.
And the world has ended. Granted, it is not a word that is helpful but ‘inflicted permanent damage on an entire community”? I think not.
She can apologize (she has), get fired (probably will be), new guidelines written (guaranteed) and yada yada yada.
It changes nothing except that the people whose hair ignited will collect a trophy corpse
Which does nothing for those kids. Who were never harmed in any material way in the first place.
Well, Newsmax caved.
Newsmax ends relationship with Lara Logan after world leaders ‘blood of children’ comment
While appearing on Eric Bolling’s evening program on the small conservative cable network, Logan spoke of what she said is a cabal of world leaders that “want us eating insects” while they “dine on the blood of children.”
“God believes in sovereignty and national identity and the sanctity of family, and all the things that we’ve lived with from the beginning of time. And he knows that the open border is Satan’s way of taking control of the world through all of these people who are his stooges and his servants,” Logan said.
I’m betting it was the God/Satan stuff that was the trigger……….
*sigh*

For anyone interested in the legend/joke this article from Snopes 21 years ago gives a summary. Back then Snopes was an interesting, and non-biased, source of how urban legends evolved.

Good job all those snow flakes are not Airbus pilots if they object to be called retards.
An Airbus gives a verbal commentary during the landing phase as to the skill of the pilot.

This poor pilot scored a three on the retard scale.

well there ya go!
Ok, I have been following the trial of Darrell Brooks whois the person accused of driving through the parade in Waukesha in Wisconsin last November killing six and severely injuring 62.
He is representing himself.
Today was day 12 of the trial and Mr Brooks is calling witnesses for his defense.
If you want a taste of how the trial has been going for the last 11 days then watching just today will give you an idea.
It is on YouTube and watching at 1.5 times speed it is still watchable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoH7bpS4NvE
Now remember that today the defendant is calling witnesses to try to prove he is innocent. His main defense is that it was not him in the red SUV and the SUV was honking and had tinted windows.
Even if you don’t want or desire to watch the all of today’s proceedings I will draw your attention to the testimony of Kathleen Yourell starting at the 5:25:00 mark.
She saw the red SUV that had been dumped in a driveway neer her home but could not identify who the driver was as she did not have her glasses on. OK so far.
A defense witness saying that she could not identify the driver. Perfect ” it wasn’t me ” defense.
You would NEVER have imagined what came out when the prosecutors cross examined the DEFENSE witness.
@ Possum:
Cross exam starts at 5:41:00
@ Possum:
SHIT!!!!!! I have the right woman but wrong part of the video..
Hang on. ( this is why Possums don’t make good trial lawyers. )
Right woman name but wrong woman’s testimony Kathleen Yourell testimony starts at 7:42:00
Anyway same type of questioning, was the car honking? Did you see the occupant(s), was it speeding at the time, were windows tinted etc.
Cross starts at 7:53:00 by prosecution. Remember she is witness for the defense.
I won’t post a spoiler…..
@ Possum:
OK a tiny spoiler. The prosecution started by asking the DEFENSE witness if she had any children.
Strange question, what has that got to do with if she could identify the driver of the red SUV
