I find it more than a little amusing that the Democrats running for office in California are swamping the airwaves with ads claiming any GOP candidate is a Trump supporter and wants to “ban all abortions.” Really? That isn’t a issue in this state, unfortunately. Gruesome is even offering to cover the cost with my tax dollars.

Josh Harder is running all sorts of negative ads trying to hold on to the district ballot harvesting stole for him in 2018 (he was one of those 7 Congress Critters that originally lost and declared the winner a week later. His claim against his opponent is that he’s done nothing for the homeless and failed to get federal funds for the district. Hey, dude? YOU’RE the one in Congress. What the hell have YOU done. Does not list his accomplishments, only his beliefs.

Same here in NM. They control the governorship, both houses of the legislature, both US Senate seats, and two of the three House seats. They also redrew the House districts so that the one remaining one that had a Republican majority is now likely to flip, as well.

But every ad they run is about how all the Republican candidates are “extremists,” and if even one of them is elected, rape victims will be imprisoned. Nothing about crime, inflation, education, illegal immigration, drugs, etc.

Yeah, the Dem candidates here in Cali are not mentioning inflation or crime. When they DO mention gas prices, it’s to blame the oil companies and also hold them responsible for the wildfires – which are caused by various man-made and natural means, but which are fueled by failure to clear old growth dead trees and underbrush.

They appear to be panicking. Poll numbers aren’t showing dem blowouts. News reports are painting the spreads as “neck-and-neck” or “within the margin of error.” I think they’re in for a surprise.

And that is EXACTLY why ballots in the USA take weeks to count!

If I remember correctly the sample ballot for Houston was 37 pages.

A check box for each candidate for each position plus a space for a write in candidate.

In the civilised world we vote for a member of parliament.

One box to check on the ballot.

Yesterday Oprah endorsed Fetterman, saying if she could vote in Pennsylvania, she’d vote for him (never mind that Dr Oz is supposedly her friend).

Does this effing cow really think she still has influence? I would think that after looking like a fool in Copenhagen for the Chicago bid for the Olympics and being called out for slandering a clerk in a Swiss handbag store, the fat lady should know when to sit down.

I saw somewhere – perhaps Breitbart – that the plan is to replace Nancy in leadership when the next Congress is seated – whether the Democrats are still the majority or not and that Hakeen Jeffries is the name being bandied about. Also hearing that if she’s kicked to the curb vis-a-vis leadership role, she’ll resign from Congress. But I’m not worried – I’m securely positive that Sir Gavin of Newsom will find an equally arrogant, ignorant and annoying Transgender POS to fill her shoes.

One of them – I think it’s Alexandra – is a documentary filmmaker who just happened to be filming Mom trying to act all badass on January 6th, saying how she’d punch Trump out if he showed up at the Capitol that day.

I think Gruesome gets to appoint an interim jerk before the election. I believe he was the twit to gave Alex Padilla, a TERRIBLE Secretary of State, Harris’s Senate seat. But Padilla has to run for it this time. But I think you’re right Lobo – they DO hold special elections. Ellen Tauscher was my Congress critter – when Obama tapped her for something, a special election was held and the biggest government paycheck grifter in history – John Garamendi – won the seat. He didn’t even LIVE in the district. He tried to say his “living room” was in California 10 but had to say ‘No” when asked outright if he would be eligible to vote for himself. They’re since redrawn the district, I believe, to include his whole house.

Nope. Only applies to Senate seats, where the governor gets to appoint someone who serves until the next federal election (2024 in this case).

House vacancies are always filled by special election.

In that case, Pelosi will probably put Chrisine up – but her district includes both the Castro and Polk Gulch, which have NEVER run a candidate against her because of her political clout. But now that Botox Brain will be gone, look for them to go all Harvey Milk and send one of the obnoxious gay men they have sent to the State Assembly and who is probably about to be term limited out.

By the way, I wonder if one of the things Elon will do soon is MOVE Twitter headquarters from Market Street in San Francisco. It is in one of the WORST poo-poo / drug user / homeless areas by City Hall and literally smells like an open-air sewer. Now that people are gone and working remotely, I’d move the entire brick and mortar apparatus over to one of the lovely new office buildings they’ve built on Lake Merritt in Oakland. No homeless, near BART, lovely views. And rent is probably 1/3 what it is in S.F.

What’s the root cause of the US proxy war in Ukraine? Most people don’t have a clue. Let me explain.

It all started after the 2007-2008 financial crisis that originated in the US. The reliability of the US Govt as a partner in global financial affairs was destroyed.

I don’t think that will work at all. De Santis has too much positive press already as a respected leader. Trump needs to evolve and work a little harder if he wants to keep up with De Santis.

The name calling has a reason to it but it also creates baggage. Lot of voters got turned off by it and De Santis has access to them and Trump doesn’t. Trump needs to repair his image. He should ignore DeSantis and crack down on the dems.

    They’re going to deforest Bavaria

To fill the gap left by Russia, Germany has had to buy gas and other energy alternatives on the expensive spot market. This has led to higher prices for consumers. Today an annual gas contract for a German household costs 173% more than it did a year ago, according to energy price portal Check24. That’s €3,726 ($3,702.15) for an average annual consumption of 20,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh), compared to €1,365.

One article is an eye opener. They found classics exams given during WW I to school kids. An 1811 Cambridge scholarship exam. And this one from an Oxford College scholarship exam. If anything illuminates the utter failure of our education system, it’s these. One question from the Oxford exam – which is one of the easiest I’ve seen, will clarify.

    9. Distinguish between the dialect of the choruses and that of the dialog in Greek tragedy.

Keep in mind, the last two are SCHOLARSHIP exams – not exams based on course work offered in classes. These people were expected to know this BEFORE they got to university.

How far, as an educated society, we have fallen. That said there is a whole lot more to know, to even operate in a Western society successfully, these days. Trouble is that the ‘classics’ are few and far between now, and the’ anchors’ that bound folks to logic and classical rhetoric, and thinking your way out of a contradiction is woefully extinct.

We were lucky with our nine subjects including English, Latin and a modern language (French in my case) Ancient History (Mostly Greek but with a splash of Roman) and Modern History, plus Math I (Algebra and Calculus) and Math II (Analytical Geometry), Physics and Chemistry (Organic & Inorganic). All of the exams that counted were Public Exams and class sizes were around 70 per class(yes you heard that correctly ….SEVENTY.) School discipline was brutal and we just sucked it up as there was no other option. There was 2 hours homework every night, with individual sport to suit your particular skills (handball, athletics both individual and teams, boxing ), and compulsory team sport for all, with training once a week after school (swimming, rugby and cricket) and occasional weekend sport competition in public inter-school competition.

Oh and don’t forget the 5 hours of homework on weekends. Most joined the Army Cadet Corps and that took up one afternoon after school was out, for military training including small bore shooting and heavy weapon handling, map reading and navigation, medical first aide training etc. 2 weeks a year was Military Annual Camp under canvass with field exercises and heavy weapons (Light Machine Guns BREN, Owen sub machine guns (I was a marksman with the Owen); Medium machine guns Vickers; Medium and light mortars and of course everyone had their own .303 Lee Enfield Rifle) firing at a place in the bush called Singleton Camp where 5,000 school kids at a time (our State alone had 70,000 Cadets), lived at Singleton Camp under canvass in vast tent ‘cities. Some of us found time to even join the ‘cubs’ and boy scouts and organised our own adventurous training. We didn’t have a lot of time left over to get into trouble!

    🙂

  89. Crackerbox Palace

    @ darkwords:

Ballot harvesting was responsible for turning something like 7 GOP districts in California BLUE in 2018, results being announced seven or eight days AFTER the election and they knew how many votes they needed. I believe we won back five of them in 2020 but Josh Harder, San Joaquin (Big Valley country) is the beneficiary of a redrawn district that now includes more libs and Democrats than it used to.

Any time we have a close race in California the winner is ALWAYS the Democrat. ALWAYS.

Well the US ballots have been skewed for 40 years and old habits don’t die fast! Given the opportunities to cheat of recent vintage, it would seem that as much as change happens, the more the cheating finds new ways to up end the vote.

It can’t be that hard to secure the vote and nation states of similar size class to the US seem to have no problem deciding a vote on the night of the poll!

I know that US elections can be complex and time consuming.

It is not at all difficult to secure the vote. All you have to do is hack the machines and bribe the poll workers. Happens every time.

I don’t know if this will actually happen. The rumors seem to be Nancy Pelosi will retire and the contest to replace her will be between Adam Schiff and Hakeem Jeffries.

If that’s the way it plays out – especially with Jeffries – it means the Dems will double down on exactly what got them voted out of office. If indeed they are voted out of office.

I have just spent 3 hrs on the phone w/our provider because Fox got knocked off our TV. Long story, there is a tech appt tomorrow because our fiber signal is hosed.

Which is very interesting as the only impact was Fox News Live during the special they were having on the election. Every other outlet was just fine. And Fox was hosed on all platforms. Roku/TV, laptop, phone, kindle.

But it was nice to talk to a female tech who knew her stuff and didn’t talk down to me. “Wanna empty the cache?” “yeah, let’s do it, hold on, gotta move furniture to reach the outlet”. “Ok, the ONT is red-lined” “Leak on the fiber?” “Possible”. “If you have to dig up my yard, I’m gonna shoot somebody, I just put sod down” “Ok, we’ll do it from the road, but we’ll probably start with the GFI, do you know where that is?” “Yeah, garage”.

    blah blah blah

But now I’m totally wired coming off tech talk.

Sorry to see the Vols lose that one. Georgia is a solid team though. ND surprised me — took it to Clemson pretty good. If Buckeyes offense doesn’t show up in the first half, which they have not been doing of late, “that team up north” is going to eat their lunch on the 26th. Those guys break down their opponents methodically and win on average by 4 TDs this season.

I am in the office tomorrow and won’t be watching the results come in, but EU media is demonizing Trump and doesn’t mention pedo Joe or the fact the mid-terms are tomorrow. They will act surprised on Wednesday and remark about thew “extreme right wing” take over of the US– like they always say when democrats lose.

EU is about to lose it’s shit this winter.

    I need to find that.
The liberal clowns still left at Twitter are pushing some “Blue Wave” narrative. Hysterical.

Tubby McGaptooth (aka Stacy Abrams) is pissed off that Black men are not voting for her. Someone should remind her that many of them probably owned those Atlanta businesses that lost upwards of $100 million when she literally called Georgia a lousy place to live and demanded the MLB move the Allstar game.

One of my personal favorite 2020 election moments is when Abrams appeared on a split screen with Demento Joe. She’d been going off for weeks before about what a great VP she’d be, and most people think she honestly believed the appearance with Biden was that he was naming her his running mate.

The segment starts with Stacy sitting there, her fat face occupying most of the screen, with this huge grin on her face. The fun is wathing it slooooowly vanish as she realized Joe was yammering on and on and no mention of the Veep spot.
