I got nothin’, yinz. Maybe some UFOs to distract us?

It’s vacation season and, well…lots of OT for me.

Enjoy this open.

The Ashes Test #2 starts at 0600 on the 28th. The Aussies beat the POMEs in test #1. This will be at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, ‘The Home of Cricket’. Mrs Coldwarrior and I have a visit to Lord’s CG on our bucket list, we want one of these Baskets.

i dare say that if the Aussies take this second test, all will be lost for the POMEs in this best of 5.

Being ‘done’ in the Ashes tests is one thing. Getting done by the Aussies at LORDS is quite another thing.

The POMEs are fielding 4 seamers and a single spinner, and will be trying their darnest to win at least one test ….. just for olde times sake! If the English can pull one back then we will have a serious campaign for Tests #3 #4 #5. As English summer deepens I hope the rain gods stay away and give us another 20 days of First Class Test Cricket, for the ultimate prize …. the Ashes. (an ugly tiny brown trophy 4″ high full of the ashes of a set of bails …. but worth a hundredweight in gold bars)

    🙂

Two openers, three of specialist batsmen, an all around and handy wicketkeeper, and five bowlers with (two handy bats and three sloggers) round out the English team.

    @ coldwarrior:
Stumps at the end of Day #1 in the second Ashes Test at Lords. Australia 339/5, Steve Smith unbeatan on 85* runs and Alex Carey on 10* runs. What a day for Australia – Steve Smith is the Hero of the day! The guy is a freak of nature. 85 Not Out. Let’s see if he can beat his best score at Lords when he scored 215. GOAT batsman who scored a double century at Lords in an Ashes Test. Best since 1938 when ‘The Don’ ( Aussie’s Sir Donald Bradman) claimed a double century in an Ashes Test at Lords pre WWII.

Steve Smith is a cricketing freak who seems to be able to slow down time and sees the ball coming before it even leaves the bowler’s hand. When a mere man can do that sort of thing and makes it look easy handling a seamer bowled at 100MPH, then he’s in a GOAT contender. I still think ‘The Don’ was the GOAT, whose batting average was 99.35. Nobody has ever had a batting average anywhere near that average.

‘The Don’ is truly the GOAT, but Smith is also one of the best batsmen ever to tread the grass of Lords, and the modern professional game can’t really be compared to Pre-war cricket.

Mrs. RW’s creepy employee is staring at her chest now.

She took it to her boss and is going to EEOC. The problem is if it turns into a formal complaint, he gets pulled from her team, and his whole improvement plan starts over.

This joker thinks he’s going to get on disability/retirement and can then go to work for another branch of the government. Not if he gets fired!

He’ll be gone by the end of August.

The interesting food fact for tonight.

It takes twelve twists of a ” Good Food ” brand can opener, the one with the red handle, to completely remove the lid of a 15oz can of Amazon Happy Belly Sliced Carrots.

If your preference is to leave the lid attached so draining your carrots is easier I recommend only eleven and a half twists of the can opener twisty thing.

Also, the number of twists obviously depends on how much rotation you apply to each turn, and if you are right handed or left handed.

If you are left handed then forget about eating sliced carrots using that model of can opener. You are going to be twisting, and twisting the twisty thing all day and night! It is designed for normal, right handed people only.

Eat a bag of frozen broccoli instead!

Nigel Farage: ‘Establishment are trying to force me out’
Nigel Farage has blasted an establishment plot to force him out of the country after seven banks refused to let him have an account.

In a Tweet this morning, the award-winning GB News host and former Brexit Party leader said: “The establishment are trying to force me out of the UK by closing my bank accounts.

“I have been given no explanation or recourse as to why this is happening to me.

“This is serious political persecution at the very highest level of our system. If they can do it to me, they can do it to you too.”

The actions appear to be a coordinated attempt by financial institutions to target parties and politicians on the right of politics.

Express.co.uk understands that all the British-based banks have denied the Reclaim Party a bank account and one of the accounts for Reform UK was also closed with minimum notice.

I didn’t know Disney owns NatGeo. It looks like everything they touch turns to shit. I loved NatGeo, but it went overboard w/’climate change’ and cost a freaking fortune.

National Geographic lays off its last staff writers:

Future assignments will be handled by freelancers or editors who remain on staff, the Post reported.

The magazine’s small audio department was reportedly axed too.

In addition to the job cuts, Disney announced in May that physical copies of the magazine will no longer be available on the news stands in the United States from 2024.

Some employees who were let go said the company have also started to cut back on contracts that allowed photographers to spend months in the field to capture the breathtaking shots the magazine is known for.

The latest round of layoffs was the second over the past nine months and the fourth since a series of ownership changes began in 2015.

In September 2022, Disney removed six top editors from the magazine.

In a statement to CNN following the latest move, a National Geographic spokesman said the magazine will continue to publish monthly issues.

“Staffing changes will not change our ability to do this work, but rather give us more flexibility to tell different stories and meet our audiences where they are across our many platforms,” the spokesman said. “Any insinuation that the recent changes will negatively impact the magazine, or the quality of our storytelling, is simply incorrect.”

I’ve been hearing about this for a year

Whistleblower: NHS ordered EUTHANASIA to Inflate COVID-19 Deaths in Hospitals

Officials at the U.K. National Health Service (NHS) reportedly ordered medical staff to euthanize patients in order to artificially inflate the number of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths, according to a whistleblower who wishes to remain anonymous.

Contrary to what authorities and the mainstream media had reported, the COVID-19 pandemic did not overwhelm NHS hospitals, according to the whistleblower who went by the alias Dr. John. Additionally, he revealed the two ways NHS executives falsified data regarding COVID-19 fatalities.

First, they negligently directed medical staff to treat patients with the barest minimum and then simply allow them to pass away. Second, they gave staff instructions on how to put patients to sleep using the drug midazolam and the End of Life Care program. Both of these orders resulted in deaths that were mistakenly recorded under COVID-19.

Glad to see Smith get his century as he deserved it. that may even nudge his batting average up to just over 60. At the moment it’s about 59.71. In the professional era anything above a 60 batting average is an indication of a consummate professional.

The POMEs are 4 down and still a hundred and ‘change’ behind the Aussies, however the Brits are getting into their deep middle order bats but the wicket is getting better and flatter so there are loads of more runs to be has. From my perspective the Second Test is pretty evenly balanced with the Aussies still with the wind at their backs. A fascinating battle looks on the cards. This is like a 3 dimensional chess game, with the weather gods always threatening to complicate matters over the next three days.

Lyon the Aussie spinner looks as if he was hurt in the field stopping a ball and that must be a bit of a worry for the Aussies. Ahhhh this game has it all. Drama, changes in fortune, close run escapes, unbelievable athleticism, tactics and even the threat of weather, unforeseen injury and luck. Ahhh Test cricket!

I grew up caddying to save the $$$$ so I could keep my ‘lab’ stocked with gear. That Greek Treasures is currently in NZ for 12 weeks. I take it that it’s worth a visit? I have my own personal ancient Greek vase expert in my daughter who wrote her undergraduate thesis on that subject at Bristol University. Yes there are undergraduate thesis at UK universities.

TV3 here in NZ is owned by Warners who were originally owned by Nat Geo before Disney+ ruined it with their PC garbage. ALL free to air TV are feeling the cold winds blowing and are now not hiring any more. The sinking lid is doing damage to TV3 staff and loading them up with morale sapping problems. Katey Stone, 57, stepped down as head coach June 7 after a 29-year tenure that was eventually dogged by accusations she’d emotionally damaged players

Multiple outlets have reported on a toxic on and off-ice culture, including allegations of hazing and naked skates at practice

Athletic Director Erin McDermott announced Wednesday in a statement that the school plans to revamp the culture after Stone’s retirement
    .
    .
Players anonymously told reporters of having to put condoms on bananas, simulate orgasms and perform skits mocking their sexual orientation.

One former player said she reported the behavior to the administration but never heard back.

Stone – who coached the silver medal-winning USA women’s hockey team at the 2014 Sochi Olympics – was never directly implicated but former players said she was aware of what was going on and didn’t stop it.

Maine Senate Blocks Ban on Trafficking in Aborted Baby Remains

    https://www.themainewire.com/2023/06/maine-senate-blocks-ban-on-trafficking-in-aborted-baby-parts/

If Gov. Mills’ late-term abortion bill becomes law, as now seems certain, elective late-term abortions on healthy babies will be allowed for the first time in Maine, raising a question currently unaddressed by Maine’s laws: What happens to the viable baby after an abortion clinic has ended his or her life and induced a stillbirth?

“If this legislation to legalize abortion up to the point of birth is to go into law, the least we can do is to establish this moratorium on the trafficking of fetal body parts so that the legislature can thoughtfully consider this issue in the coming years and develop more permanent policy,” said Sen. Brakey.

    Depravity writ large.

We are well into the Sodom/Gomorrah scenario. I’m not a deeply religious person but I’m pretty sure God will not be mocked.

Visiting Zelensky Mike Pence Declares “No Room in Republican Party” For Those Who Do Not Support Ukraine War

Presidential candidate Mike Pence made a pilgrimage to Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and affirm Pence’s position that the unilateral power of the Ukraine government needs to be supported.

Mike Pence then presents himself as the arbiter of what it means to be a republican with a Twitter message saying, “I know the difference between a genius and a war criminal, and I know who needs to win this war in Ukraine, and it’s the people fighting for their freedom and fighting to restore their national sovereignty. There is no room in our party for apologists for Putin. There is only room for champions of freedom.”

FSB Spooked CIA on Prigozhin ‘Coup’
    M.K. Bhadrakumar | 26 Jun 2023

CNN, followed by the New York Times, broke the story on Sunday that the US and Western intelligence were indeed aware of the failed coup attempt on Friday night by Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Group of Russian military contractors, “for quite some time and making preparations for such a move, including by massing weapons and ammunition.”
What we do not know is at what point Russian intelligence got wind of it. The Kremlin acted forcefully, decisively and with foresight in real time to scotch the coup attempt within hours. By Saturday evening, the foreign intelligence chief Sergey Narishkin announced that the coup attempt had failed. The Russian authorities were waiting for Prigozhin to make his move.
It is only natural that Russian intelligence kept a strong presence right inside the Wagner tent all through. Damn it, it is a war zone where Russia’s fate is hanging in the balance.
Just as the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) or most intelligence organisations do, the FSB (Russian intelligence service) also psychoanalyses the remarks of their targets for profound meanings. They do that routinely and have trained analysts who do only that.
It wouldn’t have escaped the attention of Russian intelligence analysts that Prigozhin’s ranting and ravings from Donetsk from last autumn and winter began originally on the operational aspects of the Bakhmut war front in Donetsk oblast, but incrementally began acquiring political overtones, culminating finally in his incredible statement that the raison d’être of the special military operation in Ukraine since February 2022, was all baloney.
Even more strangely, this man who physically witnessed the Battle of Bakhmut, came to the bizarre conclusion that Kiev or Nato had no mala fide intentions toward Donbass or Russia.
Therefore, the ‘known known’ here is that the Russian intelligence was under instructions to be in ‘listening mode,’ give the eddies a free flow in the Battle of Bakhmut where Wagner was in the driving seat. (Interestingly, though, at some point, much to Prigozhin’s annoyance, Moscow also began deploying regular troops selectively on the Bakhmut front alongside the Wagner fighters.)
On Saturday, top US intelligence officials sprang into action to brief the media as it emerged that Russian authorities were literally waiting with a road map to squash Prigozhin’s coup attempt. Even the Chechen militia was put on standby.
The crucial element in the deal struck with Prigozhin has been that he will not be prosecuted but must simply get lost. And where else could his exile be arranged better on Planet Earth than in Belarus under the benevolent eyes of President Alexander Lukashenko?
Now, we may get to know at some point from Lukashenko, who struggles to keep secrets for long, as to when exactly would Putin have taken him into confidence on a ‘need-to-know basis.’ It strains credulity that such a complex dealmaking was possible within a clutch of hours via tortuous three-way negotiations between Moscow, Minsk and Rostov-on-Don even as the renegade Wagner column was approaching Moscow.
An intriguing sub-plot here is that amidst all this heavy traffic, Lukashenko also negotiated with Nurusultan Nazarbayev, the former Kazakh dictator who headed a pro-western regime in Astana and was ousted from power after reigning for nearly three decades, following the failure of a similar US-backed coup attempt like Prigozhin’s in the winter of 2021-2022, which too was crushed with the help of the CSTO forces (Russian troops) led by a Russian general.
On the previous day, in fact, Putin had spoken with two Central Asian leaders — Kazakh President Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev. Did he share any crucial intelligence? In fact, both these countries have been facing Western plots for regime change lately.
By the way, Given Moscow’s preoccupations in Ukraine, Chinese President Xi Jinping has stepped in to take a hands-on role to consolidate the stability and security of the Central Asian region. (Please see my recent articles — China takes leadership role in Central Asia ; An “Axis of Seven” to supplement SCO ; and, Russia, China take holistic view of the Pamirs and Hindu Kush.
Clearly, something was seriously afoot in Kazakhstan, which is sandwiched between Russia and China and is the most crucial piece of real estate in geopolitical terms in Central Asia.
In all probability, this was what the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken alluded to when he told ABC on Sunday that the situation with the attempted coup in Russia “is still developing… I don’t want to speculate, and I don’t think we saw the final episode.” That said, however, Blinken has piled up a consistent record for being horribly wrong on his assessments on Russia — starting from the deathly blow the ‘sanctions from hell’ were expected to give to the Russian economy; Putin’s hold on power; Russia’s catastrophic defeat in Ukraine; Russian military’s deficiencies; Kiev’s inexorable military victory, and so on.
In this case, he has reason to feel embittered particularly because of the spectacular unity of the Russian state, political elite, media, regional and federal bureaucracy, and the military and security establishment in rallying behind Putin. Arguably, Putin’s political stature is now unchallengeable and unassailable in Russia and the Americans have to live with that reality long after Joe Biden’s departure from the scene.
    Going forward
The Kremlin has adopted a very thoughtful strategy. From available details so far, it has the following five key elements:
    1. Principally, the top priority is to avoid bloodshed so that life moves on and the focus on the war in Ukraine, which is at a tipping point, doesn’t suffer;
    2. In immediate terms, get the few renegade Wagner fighters and Prigozhin to leave Rostov-on-Don and return to their camps in Lugansk;
    3. Clinically separate Prigozhin from the rest of Wagner Group (In fact, not a single Wagner commander or officer joined his revolt);
    4. Offer immunity to the bulk of the Wagner Group — except the participants in the coup, of course — and facilitate their formal integration into the defence ministry. That is, the logic behind the creation of Wagner Group by the Defence Ministry (and an unnamed top secret internal security agency) holds good still, but it will no longer be a quasi-state force, but will have a habitation and name and led by designated professional military commanders instead of free-wheeling fortune hunters like Prigozhin.)
    5. Get Prigozhin to leave for Belarus, which was not difficult once he realised that he should request mercy from none other than Putin (who agreed to the oligarch’s safe passage to Belarus.)
The last element is utterly fascinating. The Kremlin is extremely annoyed with Prigozhin for his seditious behaviour but is also aware — presumably on the basis of intelligence inputs — that he has been manipulated by Western powers. Of course, there is going to be a price to pay. Prigozhin will never get back his towering stature as an oligarch with a personal fortune of $1.2 billion or the fabulous lifestyle he led.
But at least, the 62-year-old oligarch is spared a possible 20-year prison term. This is of a piece with Putin’s handling of oligarchs in general. (Read my article The Rise and fall of a Russian oligarch.)
Make no mistake, Lukashenko will eventually make Prigozhin sing — sooner rather later — and the song will be transmitted live to the Kremlin. And that accounts for the great nervousness in Washington, which has raised the spectre of nuclear war, etc. to give the spin to distract attention from the CIA’s plot to destabilise Russia. The irrepressible Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov calls it a “turbulent stream of consciousness.”
To be sure, now that the CIA-MI6- Prigozhin plot has failed, out of its debris, new Western narratives will be born like a Phoenix out of the ashes. And the US’ sleeper cells abroad, including in the Indian media, will parrot that narrative.
But, not for long. For, what lies ahead is the manifestation of the steely resolve of the Kremlin — and Putin himself — to seek an all-out military solution to the Ukraine crisis. Putin declared last week — most likely in anticipation of the storm brewing on the horizon — that the war will be over when no Ukrainian army will be left on the battlefield, or NATO weapons.
Read the official transcript of a videoconference that Putin took last Thursday, in the immediate run-up to Prigozhin’s coup attempt, with the full quorum of the Security Council (post-Soviet Russia’s ‘politburo’), which gives a flavour of the mood in the Kremlin and will provide some clues to what to expect on the battlefields of Ukraine, going forward. It is a huge signal in advance to the “collective West” that nothing will be forgotten.

Chief Justice John Roberts agreed and said in the majority opinion that a move ‘requires that Congress speak clearly before a Department (of Education) Secretary can unilaterally alter large sections of the American economy.’ He goes on to say that the HEROES Act, which the Biden administration cited as justification for the plan, actually provides ‘no authorization for the Secretary’s plan’ and therefore there was no clear congressional authorization.

A US$100B wealth migration tilts U.S. economy’s centre of gravity south

    https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/a-100-billion-wealth-migration-tilts-us-economy-s-center-of-gravity-south-1.1939466

The numbers tell the story. For the first time, six fast-growing states in the South — Florida, Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee — are contributing more to the national GDP than the Northeast, with its Washington-New York-Boston corridor, in government figures going back to the 1990s. The switch happened during the pandemic and shows no signs of reverting.

A flood of transplants helped steer about US$100 billion in new income to the Southeast in 2020 and 2021 alone, while the Northeast bled out about $60 billion, based on an analysis of recently published Internal Revenue Service data.

The Southeast accounted for more than two-thirds of all job growth across the U.S. since early 2020, almost doubling its pre-pandemic share. And it was home to 10 of the 15 fastest-growing American large cities.
    .
    .
Nashville, where the asset-management firm AllianceBernstein relocated a few years ago, has become the country’s top real estate “supernova” in surveys by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Urban Land Institute. Houston, Atlanta and Charlotte, longtime home of Bank of America Corp., rank among the top 10 moving destinations nationwide by Penske Truck Rental — all ahead of boomtown Austin.

And no one beats Fort Worth, Texas, near Dallas, the country’s fastest-growing big city in the latest Census Bureau data.

I don’t know where Knoxville is on that list but I know it’s on it. People are bitching about all the development and more traffic.

Your phone tracks you and if you carry out a transaction it locks your location time and date into the location’s database. I use a separate car mounted GPS and switched off my phone GPS amongst other apps years ago. Not that the phone companies can’t still track you although it’s more of an embuggerence for them as they have to manually use cell tower cross references and it’s not as accurate.

When you need to be ‘found’ then turn that App on before you go out and then then it off when you get home….. or alternatively leave your phone at home when you do NOT need to be tracked. There are something like 30+ different Apps loaded onto your phone that log everything you do even if it doesn’t have anything to do with communicating. @ coldwarrior:
Rain has appeared over the horizon at Lords Cricket Ground shutting off the rest of Day #3 with the Aussies into their second innings that started 91 runs ahead of the POMEs, Rain that most English of weather, intervened after tea with the Oz second innings 2 out for about 230 ahead of England. Poor light helped one opener to get out in marginal conditions whilst the #3 batsman was just rash , surviving two LBW appeals on contiguous overs that looked pretty cut and dried to me and then holed out caught off a seamer, offering up and easy catch at Mid-Off. Then it was Tea and the heavens opened and the wicket got the covers on, and that was that for Day #3 of the second Ashes Test.

At this rate Oz should be over 400 by Lunch on Day #4, and then it’ll be deciding when to add a bit more before DECLARING, before leaving enough time to bowl England after Tea Day#4 plus the rest of Day #5. Getting that WINNING balance right will be a serious decision!. By now England will be thinking about playing out the clock and accepting a DRAW and living to fight the Third Test with a loss and a draw, instead of two losses and an almost impossible hill to climb with having to win the next three tests to WIN the Ashes rather than just having to win two of the next three tests, for a drawn test and two tests each, and keeping hold of the Ashes locked away as they are in the Lords safe !

    Decisions …. decisions!

Given the two teams decision making …. I think the Aussies will take a punt and DECLARE at around 450 , put the Brits in and try to WIN. The Brits will but up the shutters early on Day#5 and grab a DRAW and live to fight another day!

    GO the Aussies!

Solar Projects Turn Into Disaster as Groundwater Dries Up, Leaving Residents Furious: ‘Dead Without Water’

Located just about halfway between Los Angeles and Phoenix, Desert Center, California, was once bustling with business.

In the ’20s, the local Desert Center Cafe was open 24-7 with customers filtering in and out as they made their way back and forth between the two iconic cities. According to The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, the cafe’s motto was “We lost our keys, we can’t close!”

Today, the Desert Center Cafe — along with the rest of the buildings on the dingy Desert Center main street — is abandoned and dilapidated.

Other than the small ghost town at its center, what’s left of Desert Center is the handful of small communities surrounding it.

Even absent the historic downtown, area locals had much to be thankful for. The landscape, for example, is beautiful. You can stare out at the endless desert, examine the lush palo verde and aged ironwood trees or even spot local treasures, such as the rare species of desert tortoises and sacred indigenous sites.

Thanks to the construction of massive solar farms, all of the above are under threat, along with one more resource locals likely treasure above almost all else: the water supply.

No More Water John Beach owns a bit of land in the middle of the desolate Desert Center. At first, it’s unlikely Beach thought the area’s local solar project — a product of the Obama administration’s push to scale solar energy development on public lands — would have much of an effect on his property.

Beach’s land doesn’t even have a home on it, only two palm trees, both of which he has been watering for 15 years.

There’s a Giant Gravity Hole In The Indian Ocean, And We May Finally Know Why

    https://www.sciencealert.com/theres-a-giant-gravity-hole-in-the-indian-ocean-and-we-may-finally-know-why

Gravity’s pull is a constant on Earth, but our planet is no uniform sphere. It’s covered in lumps and bumps, with geology of varying density yanking on nearby masses with subtly differing degrees of force in an undulating map known as a geoid.

Deep beneath the Indian Ocean, that pull weakens to an extreme low, leaving what is considered a massive gravity ‘hole’ some three million square kilometers in size roughly where the seafloor sinks into a vast depression.

One of the most profound gravitational anomalies on Earth, its presence has been alluded to for a while. Ship-based surveys and satellite measurements revealed long ago that the sea level just off the tip of the Indian subcontinent dipped on account of the gravitational tug-of-war between the aptly named Indian Ocean geoid low and the surrounding gravitational ‘highs’.

Just what caused this relative weakening has never been clear. Now two researchers from the Indian Institute of Science think they have a better idea of the kinds of planetary phenomena that could be involved.

“All these [past] studies looked at the present-day anomaly and were not concerned with how this geoid low came into existence,”

I am clueless but I think it’s too kool for skool

THE YEAR IS 2030. Forget about the flying cars, robot maids, and moving sidewalks we were promised. They’re not happening. But that doesn’t mean the future is a total unknown.

According to a startling Pentagon video obtained by The Intercept, the future of global cities will be an amalgam of the settings of “Escape from New York” and “Robocop” — with dashes of the “Warriors” and “Divergent” thrown in. It will be a world of Robert Kaplan-esque urban hellscapes — brutal and anarchic supercities filled with gangs of youth-gone-wild, a restive underclass, criminal syndicates, and bands of malicious hackers.

At least that’s the scenario outlined in “Megacities: Urban Future, the Emerging Complexity,” a five-minute video that has been used at the Pentagon’s Joint Special Operations University. All that stands between the coming chaos and the good people of Lagos and Dhaka (or maybe even New York City) is the U.S. Army, according to the video, which The Intercept obtained via the Freedom of Information Act.

That’s just the teaser. Some aren’t buying it.

Mike Davis, author of “Planet of Slums” and “Buda’s Wagon: A Brief History of the Car Bomb,” was not impressed by the video.

“This is a fantasy, the idea that there is a special military science of megacities,” he said. “It’s simply not the case. … They seem to envision large cities with slum peripheries governed by antagonistic gangs, militias, or guerrilla movements that you can somehow fight using special ops methods. In truth, that’s pretty far-fetched. … You only have to watch ‘Black Hawk Down’ and scale that up to the kind of problems you would have if you were in Karachi, for example. You can do special ops on a small-scale basis, but it’s absurd to imagine it being effective as any kind of strategy for control of a megacity.”

But it’s great propaganda for allowing the military to turn on its own citizens

Two police unions threatened a revolt unless Emmanuel Macron’s government restored order amid protests sparked by the killing of a French-Algerian teenager by police on Tuesday – also causing the French president to cancel his trip to Germany.

‘Today the police are in combat because we are at war,’ a report from the unions said. ‘Tomorrow we will enter resistance and the government should be aware of this.’

But then when all looked lost he took it to the Aussie bowlers, especially the seamers, led from the front for a true Captain’s ‘knock’ of 155. Given the mental pressure he was under as skipper , the last true batsman left in the England batting line up, and the only real hope left to England, he could be forgiven for a short lapse in concentration for lofting up an easy catch in covers. He’d been batting for the best part of a full day and must have been mentally exhausted. The whole of Lords rose as one to clap him off the ground, including the whole Aussie team. Obviously upset with himself as he strode through the ‘Long Room’ to the Members accolades, he must have known that the 80% chance of an Aussie win had moved to 95%. The tail enders numbers #9#8and #7put up no serious resistance and two lost their wickets for a ‘duck’ and a one in 7 balls.

England’s Numbers #10 and #11 put up a brief cameo, until Starc ‘the Aussie Axeman’ brought his ‘hardman game’ to the fore. He relentlessly bowled bouncers off a flat wicket, hit the batsmens’ helmets and bodies on numerous occasions, demoralising them. Typical Body-line take no prisoners intimidation tactics, from a fast seamer. Refused to ‘take the new ball’ obviously deciding to finish it quickly. You could see him thinking …. intimidate them with fast bouncers targeting their heads and bodies and then when they were set up and cowered, slipped in either a leg-cutter for a LBW or a Yorker at the batsman’s boots, right on the stumps. Starc’s Yorker was a tad short but was fast at 90MPH and took out the middle stump. England fell 43 short to tie ( hardly ever happens) or a miraculous 44 to win. Given the Aussie’s seamer line up that just wasn’t going to happen.

So it’s two Tests to zip in the best of Five for the Ashes. From here England would find scaling Everest a cinch, compared to getting their hands on the Ashes by winning the next three Tests.

Ben Stokes the England skipper should have been ‘man of the match’ with his captaincy and his ‘skipper’s knock’ of 155 however it was curtains for England when he showed that he was human and had a brief loss of concentration.

Ahhhh Test match cricket and Ashes Cricket to boot!
Five Test matches of 5 days each for the ultimate cricketing trophy …… an ugly little wooden bottle full of ashes of burned bails, but worth a LOT more than the Cricket World Cup.
There is something special about Ashes Cricket Tests. Like chess as a blood sport in five fabulous chapters fought in picturesque surroundings, and a model of life, with all its victories and tragedies writ large.

Now on the the Third Test

Yup. Did you see the Aussie Team manager on his two-way radio talking to ‘someone’ about Starc refusing to take the new ball. The new ball would have totally tied down the two tail-enders for a few more overs but the Second Test would have ended in a damp squib. Starc wanted to use the old ball as a blunt weapon and had his own plan to totally intimidate the last two by attacking their bodies with 90MPH halls and forgetting about the stumps. Then when the two batsmen were just trying to survive a vicious ‘Body-line attack and just trying NOT to get hurt, Starc planned on a fast switch back to the stumps with the batsmen’s feet all out of the line and aim at hitting the Batsman’s boots with a fast Yorker and destroying the base of the stumps. Starc got the middle stump and blew it right out of the ground!

    It worked.

    🙂

Brutal, cruel and dangerous, to use those tactics against a tail-ender and not a specialist batsman, but it certainly was effective and drew a definite line under this Test!

The article is behind a paywall, so I can link only this

British Banks are to be told by the Treasury that they must protect free speech amid an escalating row over the blacklisting of customers who hold controversial views.

Jeremy Hunt, the Chancellor, is understood to be “deeply concerned” that overzealous lenders are closing down accounts because they disagree with customers’ opinions and has asked City minister Andrew Griffith to investigate the issue.

Whitehall sources said that results of a consultation on the subject will be published within weeks, after it was launched earlier this year in the wake of PayPal blocking the accounts of free speech groups.

The controversy flared up again last week after the leading Brexiteer Nigel Farage revealed his account had been closed by his bank. A vicar was also dropped as a customer after criticising his lender’s stance on LBGTQ+.

Sorry I missed ya! I was at Mercy Hospital doing the dye and CT scan thingie. First time in my life I reacted to something that my body didn’t like. Turned cherry red and was given an antihistamine and a cup of coffee and some bikkies until my colour stopped liking like a surfer from Bondi beach with a bad sunburn!

    🙂

    Heh

They gave me some more antihistamines, just in case I turn red again later. Told me to head back to Mercy if I turned red once more, and to tell my Professor Quack that I seemed to be allergic to dye used with a CT scan, to get some pictures of my left aerial appendage, in case I might consider a LA appendage closure. The guy who tried to get some TOE shots failed miserably to pass the TOE probe, hence the CT! $2,480 charged for the privilege, but I get 60% back from Air NZ Crew insurance, and 100% back if the LA appendage closure happens within 6 months from my surgical insurance!

    Bloody insurance companies! grrrr

The great great grandkid of my Paramount Maori (actually he was one of the few male survivors of the Chatham Islands Moriori who were predated upon by the Taranaki Maori Ewe, who sailed Sydney purchased a 700 ton a square rigged ship in about 1850 , sailed around NZ and up to the Chatham Islands 500 miles East of NZ , butchered most of the peaceable Moriori males and ate them, and enslaved the women and children to tend Taranaki Kumera sweet potato ) gardens. Ahhh the noble savage! NOT!

My Paramount Moriori chief built a Pa site at Thornton Bay. The Moriori had ginger hair and green eyes. There is a shitload of material and early photos of the Pa site and refugee Moriari. At the end of WWOII Lt. Ngarimu a Moriori won a Victoria Cross ( Like a Medel of Honour on steroids) in Lybia fighting the German 7th Armoured Division. In 1945 the southern end of Thornton Bay was renamed Ngarimu Bay in his memory. Our Paramount Chief was the ~ 50 year old bushy red haired ‘visitor’, standing through my mattress, through the floor and with his feet on the ground underneath looking East towards the Pa site up the hill.

He died about 1870 and his Memorial stone will get professionally mended and placed with a historical board in the Morirori gifted park near the swings on the land he gifted to the colony.

Our Moriori Paramount Chief gifted land for the Kauri Anglican cathedral the Police station and the Court House in Thames township. Back in the gold rush glory days there were 40,000 prospectors living in Thames. The town had a Kauri Anglican Cathedral, pubs on every corner in the town and ‘knocking shops’ between each pub for the miners’ pleasure. 🙂 The Northern end of the main part of Thames roads are all up and down as the worked out mines collapsed. They were mining huge volumes of quartz for vein gold. The Northern end of Thames still looks like you’re walking into an American Western movie set!

    HEH!

    🙂

In the 1950s there were all kinds of financial shenanigans and some of the gifted land was stolen and sub-divided, an access road built and the prime sites overlooking the beach built on, including our house. The story that was bandied about by the corrupt developer was that the Paramount Chief’s grave site was lost and someone used dynamite to destroy his Memorial Stone. That was 100% BS and just a cover to cover their corruption. The Paramount chief has been there for 150 years and his Memorial stone was there with him. Now we’ve found it his stone will be repaired and raised again near the playground on the gifted land just behind our place. The Paramount Chief’s great, great grandson allowed us to temporally move his bones, dig the footings on Wednesday and then we’ll return his bones back beneath our house where he belongs, overlooking his beach. We’ll look after him. No wonder the poor bugger was so pissed off that he put in an appearance a fortnight ago. Fr. Rory Morresy the Auckland Diocese Exorcist was 100% right on the money with his assessment that he was just a disturbed soul, that just needed to be told to Be at Peace.

The whole thing turned out just fine.

Oh and our Auckland apartment, next door neighbour’s father was the dodgy lawyer who handled the corrupt land grab back in the 1950s and who spread the falsehoods about the Paramount chief’s grave was lost and that his Memorial stone was destroyed with dynamite in about 1952. It was all lies.
Tell me ……WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

The left atrial appendage is a left over blind chamber on the left of the heart that was left over as the human heart developed over a few million years. A bit like the appendix that was left behind after the human second stomach was bypassed when early humans began to eat meat and protein. The LA is just a left over bit of now unused heart muscle that was bypassed during evolution.

Trouble is that if a human is prone to the development of blood clots familiarly then they will probably develop in the Atrial Appendage. For someone who has CAA and can’t allow blood thinners, the alternative is to place a Nickel metal memory plug into the heart LA blocking off this pocket permanently. A hand made to measure Nickel gauze memory plug is passed through a catheter from the Femoral artery into the beating heart and positioned and squirted into the Left Atrial appendage, blocking it permanently. Hence the failed attempt to use a TOE probe to photograph the LA and having to revert to a CT to craft the memory metal plug to size and shape. If I decide to do the LA Appendage plug it’ll just be an overnight procedure and a little monitoring afterwards to ensure its securely place with heart muscle developing around it. After it stabilises I can get back to the gym and my ultra slow very heavy weights limited reps to failure program. Otherwise I have to do the light weights, fast multiple reps training, which is a total waste of my time.

As far as hauntings of Indian grave sites are concerned, the Moriori are OK with looking after their Paramount Chief in situ as that is his resting place and he now appears at Peace as his Memorial stone is being looked after and repaired and re-established on the gifted site after being toppled by some grifter developers for the past 70 years. Both the Anglican Priest (who also belongs to the Ngaru Mari tribal Moriori Pa up the hill) has blessed the site in Morori (with his Catholic mate in Rome provided Lourdes water for the blessing), as well as the Local Catholic Parish priest who also did his thing under the instructions of the Catholic Dioceses Exorcist in English and Latin.

Fr. Rory Morrasy the exorcist suggests that we just had a disturbed soul who has probably been quietened and is now again at Peace. If not then and we have Fr. Rory Morrasy the nominated Dioceses Exorcist who will visit, (if the 1:500 against chance happens) and will corrupt dealing of of the land site and building has now been corrected. Fr. Rory believes that we have fixed the wrong that has been perpetrated for the past 70 years.

We will assume the best and we know how to sort it out if something untoward happens again, and have the weapons available if necessary to fix the problem.

This whole shebang has happened over the past 3 weeks. The detective and cops, the local council, the contractor actually doing the job, the Memorial stone’s partial destruction , extraction, collection by Moriori and great great grandson, Auckland council archeologist, the footings, the visitors of course, the Anglican and Catholic priests doing their ‘thing’, the Auckland based Exorcist opinion, the historical research project, the expose about the shenanigans over the land scam in the 1950s….. et al!

Now we’re ready to lift the bones pour the concrete footings, replace the bones or place them where the Memorial stone will be re-erected on the gifted land, get the plaster and painters in to finish the living room/ solarium ceiling and enjoy that VIEW over the beach … and get back to normality!

    🙂

As for your mom the RC Auckland Dioceses Exorcist laid it out clearly that just because folks die it doesn’t mean that they still don’t have free will and quite some latitude. Some just refuse to move on and need to be helped along a bit. Most take the ‘help’ but on extremely rare occasions a few who have ‘issues’ and could be malevolent do require some intervention to get them out forcibly. Leave that to the’ pros’ however or you could make a bad situation even worse. Do NOT dabble yourself even though bad outcomes are extremely rare. Take the advice and keep it simple is the best solution.

I didn’t, believe me. She showed up on her own, and it was very difficult for me. Every time I’d have to say goodbye to her AGAIN, which was brutal. My sister and I held her as she died and that was about all I ever wanted to take, thank you very much. And it’s NOT just me – she showed up once when I was on the phone with my sister and my sister heard her voice and her laugh. That was the one time I saw her physically, altho she had no problem touching me. My sister’s daughters could always smell her perfume (White Gardenia). 7 years until she moved on. This is just the first ‘shots’ in the battle over the concept of ‘SOCIAL CREDIT.’ That’s how the CCP controls the people of China. If your Social Credit score you can end up starving as you are prevented from buying food. The new project is 15 minute cities. You are restricted to stay within of 15 minutes walk of the central area where you live. The exits are automated and you need to be registered by facial recognition to cross into the contiguous 15 minute region. If your Social Credit score is low you can’t get past the gates. You’re effectively a prisoner inside your 15 minute city. You can however pay (electronically) a sum of money (a fine) to give you enough points to lift your Social Credit score high enough to get out of your 15 minute region!

    1984 in steroids!

Coming to a neighbourhood near you. If you think it can’t happen to you then look at Oxford in the UK where the first 15 minute city has sprouted thanks to a socialist council in Oxford!

We just got home. What a powerful movie. Even more so as it’s a true story. There’s a lot of evil in this world. A lot. What these guys did to get one little girl out of some god forsaken jungle in Colombia is unreal. And the sting they set up to rescue more – it was amazing.

The U.N. Is Planning To Seize Global ‘Emergency’ Powers With Biden’s Support

Once triggered, the emergency platform would give the U.N. the ability to “actively promote and drive an international response that places the principles of equity and solidarity at the centre of its work.” The U.N. would bring together the “stakeholders” of the world, including academics, governments, private sector actors, and “international financial institutions” to ensure there is a unified, global response to the crisis.

The emergency platform would also give the United Nations the power to “Ensure that all participating actors make commitments that can contribute meaningfully to the response and that they are held to account for delivery on those commitments.”

In other words, the United Nations would be given unprecedented authority over the public and private sectors of huge swaths of the world, all in the name of battling a yet unknown crisis.

Stuff has been going splody around here since yesterday afternoon. I imagine it sounds a lot like Mr. Possum’s neighborhood on a weekday.

Aside from that, a friend sent me a story about the renaming of Fort Pickett in VA.

Sound of Freedom gets a very good review from Variety. I didn’t know Glen Beck was one of the big financial backers. It was actually finished in 2018 but Disney shelved it and it appears Beck fronted the money to buy it back.

    https://variety.com/2023/film/reviews/sound-of-freedom-review-jim-caviezel-1235660035/amp/

“Sound of Freedom” as a compelling movie that shines an authentic light on one of the crucial criminal horrors of our time, one that Hollywood has mostly shied away from
    .
    .
This is a genre thriller. That said, it’s an urgent and honest one, and Caviezel gives his most committed performance since “The Passion of the Christ.” He’s seasoned now, with the smoldering aura of a more sensitive Clint Eastwood. He knows how to underplay the rage and despair, and how to make the drama of going undercover into something lifesize. [also he’s drop dead gorgeous]
    .
    .
The director, Alejandro Monteverde, stages this sequence without hyping the danger. It’s not a glorified “Rambo” movie or a Netflix thriller pretending to be serious. When the deliverance we’ve been seeking arrives,

    All the performances are superb

It’s a temporary injunction but better than nothing

Judge orders Biden to stop censoring Real Americans

“In this case, Plaintiffs allege that Defendants suppressed conservative-leaning free speech, such as:

    “(1) suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story prior to the 2020 Presidential election;

    “(2) suppressing speech about the lab-leak theory of COVID-19’s origin;

    “(3) suppressing speech about the efficiency of masks and COVID-19 lockdowns;

    “(4) suppressing speech about the efficiency of COVID-19 vaccines;

    “(5) suppressing speech about election integrity in the 2020 presidential election;

    “(6) suppressing speech about the security of voting by mail;

    “(7) suppressing parody content about Defendants;

    “(8) suppressing negative posts about the economy;

“and (9) suppressing negative posts about President Biden.”
    .
    .

He [Judge Doughty] said, “During the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.’”

    This is great…..

Donning a T-shirt with the message “Say NO to child support #ProChoiceMen,” pro-life advocate AJ Hurley trolled the Women’s March on Saturday in Washington, D.C. to expose abortion activists’ hypocrisy.

Hurley posed as a male abortion activist at the march, using a megaphone to shout phrases like “Your body, your problem!” and “Keep your womb off my wallet” at the crowd. His stunt was part of Live Action’s new satirical video series #ProChoiceMen.

Altho I’m not sure he’s not providing them with ammo, as in “Well, he won’t take any financial responsibility so get rid of it”

Keep in mind Bongino was Secret Service assigned to the WH. He knows the drill

There’s absolutely ZERO chance anyone other than a family member brought that cocaine inside the White House complex. No chance that would make it past the mag/security checkpoints. Family bypasses those.

Quick question for the firearms experts here.

Why do surgeons and medical examiners on TV crime shows and movies always dig out bullets from bodies using metal instruments?

Or is that something I should not concern myself with?

    I absolutely despise Laura Loomer

Wow. Did I or did I not call this?

I told you she was using her previous cancer as a cheap way to get sympathy votes and pander now that her husband is tanking in the polls.

    I called it months ago.

I’m starting to see a pattern. And that pattern is that I AM RIGHT.

    A LOT!
