The list of stuff falling apart around here keeps growing.

We had to replace some trim and siding.

Our dishwasher leaked, rotting through the subfloor.

    We have termites.

And our whirlpool tub leaked, giving us black mold.

While the guy was replacing the subfloor, one of the cats got in the floor and got shut in. I’m glad I heard him.

    Dishwasher is replaced.

    Termite people coming Monday.

If it stops raining we can replace the termite-damaged siding (the rest has been replaced).

We have to wait to hear from the warranty people on the tub/mold.

    This crap’s getting old, fast.

Well, I’m stumped/astonished. I saw a bird at the feeders that I could swear was a magpie, but slightly smaller. I have searched all over and the the closest match I’ve found is a loggerhead shrike but those are WAY too small. This bird was just smaller than a crow with the typical magpie coloring.

But magpies don’t show up in Tennessee. They’re out west and in Australia.

Dutch government collapses over immigration policy

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/dutch-government-resign-over-asylum-policy-anp-2023-07-07/

AMSTERDAM, July 7 (Reuters) – The Dutch government collapsed on Friday after failing to reach a deal on restricting immigration, which will trigger new elections in the fall.

The crisis was triggered by a push by Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s conservative VVD party to limit the flow of asylum seekers to the Netherlands, which two of his four-party government coalition refused to support.

“It’s no secret that the coalition partners have differing opinions about immigration policy. Today we unfortunately have to conclude that those differences have become insurmountable. Therefore I will tender the resignation of the entire cabinet to the king,” Rutte said in a televised news conference.

Rutte is no conservative, he’s a globalist and has been for decades. This was deliberate. What ever happened to Geert Wilders?

wait – data stored in China?

The fix is in for 2024.
Democrats will use the same gameplan they used in 2020. Nominate an unpopular candidate, campaign from the basement, hold few rallies with 20-30 people, mail out millions of ballots, insert drop boxes, use voting machines, late night ballot deliveries after the deadline, keep adding votes to the totals for days after the election, block GOP workers from the counting rooms, and several states use systems that store data in China…

American software biz CEO arrested for allegedly storing election data in China

Eugene Yu, CEO of Michigan-based software firm Konnech, has been arrested at the request of the Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, as part of an investigation into the theft or mishandling of personal information.

Yu’s company makes software called PollChief and has a five-year $2.9 million contract with the City of Los Angeles, which uses the code to manage and pay poll workers during elections.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (LACDAO), Yu was arrested after investigations allegedly determined that personal information submitted to PollChief was stored on servers in the People’s Republic of China, in contravention of contractual requirements.

Too much of it we don’t want to file a claim because it’d bump our rates or even make it impossible to get insurance.

  20. eaglesoars
    22 | July 8, 2023 10:00 pm

    @ right_wing2:

Your state has a regulatory agency that oversees insurance companies. Check with that agency and find out what the rules are.

We had a false auto insurance claim filed against us that we were completely unaware of. Until we got a notice from our insurance company that they were raising our rates. AND they added points to BOTH our licenses. I took a day off work to track down what had happened and in the end got one guy fired [I don’t want to mention is name but his initials are DAVID STRINE, a useless lying bastard if there ever was one] and a written apology from one of the VPs. I returned his letter with a dime taped to it and a note I wrote on it. THE LAST DIME YOU WILL EVER GET FROM US.

That’s because when I got the state regulatory agency involved all hell broke loose and everybody straightened up and flew right. It was glorious. One of my better moments.

So be sure to contact them and find out what your rights are. Because the way you are seeing it now, you might as well not carry insurance at all.

new zealand went to argie land to play rugby, the argies have beat the legendary all blacks twice in 3 years, once in New Zealand. isn’t that right, aussie infidel….

    southern hemisphere rugby championship

yeah, well…NZ trounced las pumas in argieland, dominating all aspects of play.

and, well, some team who was wearing the national rugby team aussie jerseys went to south africa to play the biggest, badest team in rugby, the springbocks. i wont belabour the point. Australia need to not send a bunch of punters, they lost YUGE. i would hang my head in shame if i were an aussie.

on to cricket. Australia are 2-nil up in the best of 5 in the greatest test series in cricket. tomorrow is the final day of test 3, England were 27/0 at play stoppage because of bad light today at Headingly. They need 224 tomorrow and have all day and all of their batters to do it. the aussies need to take all 10 of england’s wickets. this should set up like a t-20 match, aggressive bowlers will dictate aggressive batters. The aussies have nothing to loose so they will be bowling like madmen. If england keep their cool, they should have this in the bag by tea, making it 2-1 aussies.

Actually, it has been a great help to many people who have been victims of narcissists but had no idea what they were dealing with and thought everything was their fault or that they could fix it somehow. There are cases of suicide of partners of these people because they just could not take it anymore.

It’s a very tough life to get sucked into the world of one of these people. My sister went thru it. It’s not easy to ‘diagnose’ as there is a spectrum, as there is in autism, so some narcissists are very self-aware, and others, like Meghan, a mid-range, are totally clueless. She has no idea there is anything ‘wrong’ with her, nor will she ever be capable of doing so.

There is a youtube channel by someone who goes by HG Tudor. He claims to be an ULTRA narcissist who was forced into therapy by his family who threatened to slap him into an institution if he didn’t get help. There is no way to verify that but his output on the personality disorder is massive and fabulous. I’ve been thru most of it. Gobsmacking.

Meghan CANNOT feel. She can mimic. What causes it? A common denominator is some kind of abandonment. We know who mother disappeared for about 10 years and the consensus is that she was in prison, either for tax fraud or drug violations. A genetic component is suspected. AND her father, who spoiled her beyond rotten.

The bottom line is that it is a defense mechanism. The greatest need is for control because lack of control means they can’t get the ‘fuel’ they need for self-validation and the lack of that fuel is psychologically equivalent to death.

    and in other sport,

the puti…now 14, had her first practice for the varsity golf team.

funny story, so, me and mrs coldwarrior dropped off the puti for first practice at 10am, we then proceeded into to lovely club house and enjoyed a g&t. at the time to pick up the puti, we arrived early and had another g&t.

mrs coldwarrior laughed at us. no, i told her, this isnt softball or cheerleading, this is golf and there are certain traditions that MUST be followed. mrs coldwarrior is russian/ukie/soviet…has been a member of a CC for over 20 years but still doesn’t quite get IT yet. where there is golf, there is booze. we then bought the coach a drink for his efforts that day.

(where there is ice, there is civilation, where there is gin, english is spoken)

the puti, well…she has been getting lessons from a former pga pro, the owner of our cc, now onto the coach’s response to us on her first 9 holes with ‘the team’:

the coach was very impressed, the puti was consistent, long off the tees, crap in mid irons, average on approach, great at putting.

she’s the only chick on the team and scored #5 out of 10.

Hubby loved it. I played but I found it boring. The most interesting course I played was Mahoghany Bay at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. I simply could not ‘get’ what direction I was supposed to shoot the ball. People were all over the place shooting thru and I could not see the tee. One time, Hubby took me to some kind of range and my ball ended up in a sand trap. I gather I was supposed to hit it out of there onto the green but that seemed stupid so I picked it up and just rolled it out onto the green like it was a bowling ball.

But I did love those places where you could buy a bucket of balls and just smack the bejeesus out of them for distance. That’s great fun and I loved it.

Yeah, I’m utterly useless. Also I’m going to bed. Nite

the thing about golf, founded by a bunch of scots neo-calvanist presbyterians, is that it is the single most democratizing measure of a person ever. at the berlin cc, i had a 6 (down to 2 in late summer) handicap. that is shockingly good, 2-6 over par. i once got a 69 on that par 72. 3 under.

i was a lowly e-4. part of the e4 mafia. the army wasnt going to be my career, so…enjoy the trappings of the cc to the fullest. this lowly 20 year old e4 short timer was sought out by the other members, generals, colonels, senior vp’s, diplomats, and ceo’s. why, because this 20 yo was much much better than them and they wanted to play with me to get better. they wanted me on their teams when visiting ViPs showed up, they wanted me on their teams for the club championships and outings.

a 20 yo e4 playing weekly with the commanding general of berlin brigade and the senior vp of bmw motorcycle? yep. for three years.

all army golf courses have a brass strip at the front door with the inscription: “RANK STOPS HERE”. and it is serious. fines are handed out if rank is even mentioned. there are ejections from the club if someone ‘pulls rank’. handicap dictates the pecking order. i was the #3 best out of hundreds.

at my ‘expensive’ CC, hell, i’m a medium earner! i cant afford some of the cars that get parked there. yeah, well…i have an 8 handicap from the back (pro) tees. the members call the clubhouse to see if i am golfing that day and if they can go out with me. i gladly take their buck or so a hole and offer some pointers.

when i got back from the army, my membership and bar bill at ambridge cc (at the time a very exclusive, very private club) was paid for by my buddy’s granddad with the agreement that i always was on his team and would give him lessons. the irony is now that ACC is privately owned and public now, i still golf there a ton too and the same stuff happens.

golf is the only democratizing and leveling sport out there.

Indigenous Chief Wants To Take Back Ben & Jerry’s HQ Built on ‘Stolen’ Land

An Indigenous tribe descended from the Native American nation that originally controlled the land in Vermont the Ben & Jerry’s headquarters is located on would be interested in taking it back, its chief has said, after the company publicly called for “stolen” lands to be returned.

Don Stevens, chief of the Nulhegan Band of The Coosuk Abenaki Nation—one of four descended from the Abenaki that are recognized in Vermont—told Newsweek it was “always interested in reclaiming the stewardship of our lands,” but that the company had yet to approach them.

It comes after the ice cream company was questioned as to when it would give up its Burlington, Vermont, headquarters—which sits on a vast swathe of U.S. territory that was under the auspices of the Abenaki people before colonization.

The Argie plonker invades the pitch gets taken out by the AB’s captain and is then apologised to after the incident and given an AB jersey in reparation. The invader wasn’t even charged with assaulting Sam Cane’s boot!

PayID is just the latest battle between banks and scammers who seem to be always one step ahead of banks when it comes to digital security. THAT is going to be the fly in the ointment when we all get screwed by the Digitisation of currency that is about to hit us between the eyes. Bank digital cash security is totally INSECURE. These scams are getting more and more sophisticated. PayID is a layer of security for transactions above a bank set level where the customer is texted a one time security code to allow the cash withdrawal to go ahead.

A media guru here’ downunder’ just got scammed for $35,000 with a very believable scam that looked exactly like his bank site. Funds were transferred internally (by ‘Smerfing’ funds just below the triggering level) from various accounts into a savings amount and then transferred internationally to someplace in Rumania … never to be seen again. This shit happens a lot and will only increase as we get digital cash pushed onto us.

Ahhh the Brookings Institute ….. that was involved in an attempt to seize a whole country back in the day. Tonga a Pacific nation and independent Royal Nation State. Brookings, the CIA (with attendant staff Buzz cut guys in flowery shirts … call me Hank (you just can’t write this sort of shit) Melbourne Mafia enforcer types, Chinese intel ‘eavesdropping’ ships listening in from just off Tonga…. and one of my former IntOps who was also a journalist who was actually just on holiday (he REALLY WAS ON HOLIDAY) , stumbled into this attempted putsch. My IntOp got grabbed off the street thrown in the slammer for 2 weeks declared ‘personna non grata’ and deported from Tonga. Folks were getting kidnapped off the street by the Mafia types. The ‘call me Hank’ types from the CIA looked confused, and the Brookings types were after Tonga’s oil resources and the use of Tonga’s Nationhood and location as cover for moving South American coke globally. My IntOp was actually just on holiday but the rumpus caused by his arrest attracted the MSM who flew in, in droves, when the story of the putsch leaked out. Brookings, the CIA, the Chinese and the Melbourne Mafia plus the government Ministers involved in the putsch took freight and flew back to their respective bases.

Brookings was deeply involved as was Nughan Hand Bank. Straight out of an amateur hour plot line. Bloody unbelievable.

Very true BUT the banks exposure to digital scams draws a huge target on their backs as their ‘duty of care’ holding other peoples’ money makes them liable for class action legal problems. We still have a way to go before the banks can shift blame away from themselves, as currency goes digital….. whoever it belongs to and whoever is supposed to be guarding it.

It was hilarious. It was dispensed with another drug, demerol, an opiod. I was one happy camper.

The pain mgmt was superb. Only once did I have to complain, when I was in pain about 2 hrs before the next dose was scheduled and the nursing staff withheld it. I asked them to call the doc and he went ballistic. GIVE HER WHAT SHE NEEDS WHEN SHE NEEDS IT. He had actually written that in the orders but everyone was so gun shy of the ‘opiod/addiction’ thing they balked. So I got it. About 4 hours later – it must have been 2 am – he comes BLOWING into my room – in bloody scrubs – to check on me. Woke me up. “Are you getting your pain meds? Yes? Ok, go back to sleep, I’ll have someone check on you later this morning, he’s one of my interns, Dr. X, if there’s anything you need tell him, I’ll hear about it.”

Dr X showed up right on time, nervous as a cat. DON’T FUCK THIS UP was all over his face. ARE YOU GETTING YOUR PAIN MEDS?

I should say my doctor was Michael Dennis. It was just a few years ago I found out he was one of the attending surgeons when Reagan was shot.

I think he’s probably passed away by now. But he saved my life. 3 times. The first surgery, a glycerol injection, was not successful and I woke up in the middle of the night to find him at my bedside fiddling with some machine and doing something with my arm.

My blood pressure had TANKED. He sat with me for 3 hours, monitoring some machine and doing something with one of those IV bottle thingies.

I’M HERE WITH YOU, DON’T YOU LEAVE ME

I will never forget him. When the seizures started years later, he was adamant. “We are going to fix this, it’s temporary, I promise” I asked him to define ‘temporary’. 5 years max. It was 2.

This is SO bad. This is taxing ‘unrealized capital’ by the back door

The Supreme Court Should Strike a Blow Against Wealth Taxes

Moore v. United States looks at a provision in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). One of the ways that legislators offset the foregone revenue from tax cuts was through a one-time “deemed” repatriation of earnings from U.S. citizens’ shares of foreign corporations.

Put simply, the deemed repatriation provision acted as if Americans with shares in foreign corporations (above a minimum threshold) had received a dividend representing their share of that corporation’s profits going back to 2006. Never mind that they hadn’t received this dividend — the TCJA treated them as if they had.

    https://www.realclearmarkets.com/articles/2023/07/03/the_supreme_court_should_strike_a_blow_against_wealth_taxes_963501.html

This explains the letters we got from our investment company saying the SEC required them to report our holdings and what percentage was ‘foreign’. And I had to do the research, fill out these forms and return the forms to them.

I told them to piss up a rope, doing the job the SEC required THEM to do wasn’t on my bingo card. Our financial guy put it more professionally after I got done with them – CLIENT REFUSES – but neither he nor we knew what it was about.

Now we do. Taxing our foreign holdings regardless of whether we had made a profit.

    Be Aware.

The White House payroll has hit historic highs under President Joe Biden, and the most highly remunerated staff member is his Monkeypox Co-ordinator Demetre Daskalakis, who The National Pulse first revealed as a Satan-and-occult-obsessed gay man who recently donned bondage gear for a speech at a biomedical conference. Daskalakis, who is 50 this year, joined Biden’s White House staff less than a year ago. In that brief time, he has earned himself a salary of $260,718 – the highest in the White House apart from the President himself.

Been there done that for real in Sydney back in the day around 1960 when Sydney had a week of temperatures that maintained a daily max around 110F- 115F dropping to around 100F at night. I was just a kid and we moved our mattresses onto the front lawn and sat under tables and chairs on the lawn with sheets draped over them soaked in water. We kids thought it was fantastic as we stayed up late playing with the other families who all retreated from their houses to sleep outside where we kids were playing. The sheets dried out in about 30 minutes but you’d just throw a bucket of water over them and it was quite cool sleeping like that.

Fill up your bath and tap into your hot water cylinder and fill as many water containers as soon as the heat arrives and BEFORE the power and therefore the WATER and sewerage goes south as well. Use your toilets ONLY for peeing in and just disinfect them when they get a bit stinky. Use a covered Black garden bag for shitting into and keep it buried in a hole at the farthest point away from the house, with a disinfectant ‘Castalare bottle’ and roll of toilet paper on a forked stick with a jam can on the top to keep the paper dry. Erect a hessian privacy wall on 4 sticks around the ‘throne’ ( AKA the Long Drop) so as to not lower property values too much!

    Husband your water!

A week like that you can do standing on your head!

    🙂

Oh and we had a cold box too to keep our food cool as the ‘frig defrosted after a few days even with limited door opening and letting the hot air in. Just use a baking tray full of water sitting in the shade with a wooden bread cutting board sitting on eggcups in the water. Then put a chair with the legs in the tray and an old sheet with loads of strips hanging down in the water wicking the water up as it evaporated. The food to be kept cold sat on the bread cutting board. You’d be surprised how cool it gets on a really hot day with loads of evaporative cooling.

Sister sez it’s because of all the lawsuits. That the insurance companies bring on themselves. There’s something called ‘assignment of benefits’. People hire contractors to repair their houses after a storm and the insurance companies paid the contractors directly instead of giving the money to the homeowners. So, of course, the contractors inflated the cost of the job, etc., and you can see where that’s going. And MAYBE they did the actual work.

I remember when our house in VA caught fire (elec in the furnace) and the smoke damage was – jeez. But the guy from the insurance company came over once a week to talk to the restoration people, view the work and talk to me.

I never put that pic on the internet, I wouldn’t know how. I DID email it to a few friends but I did that thru my yahoo mail account (which is listed as backup email on my gmail account)

Remember mate when a Consultant never … NEVER…. work with folks who are more moronic than the worst corporate you have ever worked with. The idea is that you build your consultancy and improve on the last task, each time you do the next job. Otherwise you are just going backwards and delivering a worse eventual outcome when the corporate refused to take reality as a positive and learn and improve.

You don’t want to interact with corporates like this. They are toxic and just drag you down to their level and you can congratulate yourself for walking away when you did, before they pollute you with their venom.

But then Schmitt asked that question I think we all want to know: why does this keep happening? Why does Biden keep having this weird behavior with little girls? Why can’t his staff stop him, and if they can’t, how deeply engrained and problematic is this behavior?

“It happens a lot,” Schmitt said. “Here’s a trip down memory lane.”

He then showed multiple different instances of Biden making strange comments including the Corn Pop story, where he talks about kids rubbing his legs when he was an adult lifeguard, saying that a little girl who was about six years old looked like she was about 19.

Elites such as Pence don’t react only from a position within the elite, when their raison d’être is driven by their agreed Policy positions, that denigrate the general polity and consider them below the so called ‘illuminated elites’.
This is not only a pecking order position, vis a vie, the self proclaimed elitists and the hoi poloi, but more to the point, a Policy position that also incorporates not only the elites’ membership position, but also their Policy positions. Elites can even come and go, but their core policies remain set in stone. Biden, Pelosi and Pence et al can move in and out of the elites’ numbers on a whim, but it’s their Policy position that ensures the elites continuity of purpose.

Very interesting premise. An AI got lose and wants to take over the world. A key controls it. Everybody is after the key for the power, except Ethan Hunt. He wants to kill it.

The action is completely over the top. I have no idea how these sequences were filmed without people getting killed. Very long, 2 hrs, 43 mins, but you’re never bored. Cruise’s stunts are terrific.

    Just peachy.
I paid my sister’s outstanding bills last week so her power and water doesn’t get shut off, and now my checking account is locked due to “suspicious activity.” I’m not about to discuss it over the phone with a Chase rep with a thick accent, and the branch is closed until Monday.

Where did all my karma points go?

    @ eaglesoars:
Paying someone else’s bills directly from out-of-State probably set off alarms.

Some additional Fox insights for Bad Kitty and readers

Supreme Court justices and countless many lower court judges now rely upon Behavioral Science in their rulings. As Chief Justice John Roberts did in his Obamacare (ACA) ruling: https://www.healthaffairs.org/about

Health Affairs is a very influential Behavioral Health publication, not only advising Chief Justices about ACA, but saying things like mask mandates are needed even though masks don’t work – medically, but the symbolism, psychology of the things, that’s what’s needed:

Flu Masks Failed In 1918, But We Need Them Now

    https://www.healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377/forefront.20200508.769108/full/

Because we “suffered” from “optimism bias”:

    https://www.wpr.org/what-optimism-bias-and-how-it-affecting-our-response-pandemic

And what Rx cures optimism better than “fear amplification,” like say, seeing snakes and triggering the amygdala fight, flight or freeze response:

That’s the key right there. Without that the machine doesn’t keep steamrolling along. Both parties are sending us to hell in a handbasket, the only disagreement is the speed to which we arrive.

That would be my summation too.

It’s not a destination that is in doubt, it’s just the rapidity of our collective arrival. Don’t get too swept up in this craziness however. It’s crafted to look and feel ‘crazy’ to ‘nudge’ us towards just giving up. We’re just observers if the truth be known. It’s all under control and there are going to be a LOT of very upset folks when they are dragged kicking and screaming to face the TRUTH. Protect yourself from the ‘crazies’ by all means but we’ve already won and it’s just about the incidentals now that we are suffering and working through. Narrow ways are always the best path to take. Just don’t sweat it too much even if it is a pain in the butt sometimes.

    🙂

Someone contacted early in the morning asking for assistance in building codes.
Informed them that I was on leave and not available.
They asked why the person they usually ask for help is not available either.
Had to tell them that he was apprehended for being a serial killer.

    Update:
A colleague in preservation architecture found out about this and graciously stepping in to assist with this, so I do not have to be taken off leave.
Also, as of now, that is being included into contract(s) to ensure I keep leave time, despite extenuating circumstances.

Saw an article on my phone today that the Biden admin is not pivoting to possibly push through their student loan forgiveness through the Income Driven Repayment Plan (which is what I’m on), since the court slapped down it being within Bidens authority to do.

Here’s an interview with the now-incarcerated architect. Don’t know why the interviewer keeps laughing, but the guy had a pretty good deal going with the city as a plan check consultant.
