Smoky was a 4 lb, 7 inch tall, Yorkshire Terrier who served in World War II. The little dog even flew 12 air/sea rescue and photo reconnaissance missions, secured in the soldiers backpack. She survived 150 air raids and saved Wynne by warning him of incoming shells. Like many Yorkies, Smoky also loved to learn tricks and preform. She did so with the Special Services ā entertaining soldiers in hospitals. After the war Smoky was flown back to the US hidden in a oxygen mask carrying case.
For the next 10 years she made television and public appearances in Veterans hospitals until her death in 1957. Smoky is considered the first Therapy Dog.

I see Daniel Silva learned his lesson. He writes the truly brilliant Gabriel Allon spy series. One a year, every July. In 2021 he wrote one of the worst books I’ve ever read. The plot was beyond lame and he decided to take swipes at Trump. And he said he had no more Gabriel Allon in him. He was drained. I understand that part but the crap book and the politics? Nope.

one of my friends in the brigade was a power lifter. 21 years old and would have reenlisted. but no, he was ‘obese’.
passed his pt test in the 75th percentile every time but failed the tape and calculations most times. so he, his clearance, and all that training walked out the door. yet he could do things that were super-human. the last contact that i had with him was that he wrestled for 4 years at a D1 school (3/4 scholarship) and is an industrial engineer now.
