NCAA Football week 9 and Rugby World Cup 2023 FINAL & OPEN

We were even last week, so still $1300/$1000…outperforming the stocks and bonds. Quit level is 33% ROI, we had that three weeks ago.

Let’s get to it.

No one, except yours truly and some maniac former-747 pilot in NZ thought the 2023 RWC would come to this:

South Africa versus New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup final, day 48 of the tourney, all are sore and beat up. Yet, here we are. Both teams peaked at the right time, Ireland fell to their quarterfinal curse while France lost on home soil. The pretenders have been sorted, South Africa v New Zealand for the final, 100 years of playing each other. SA is incredibly physical especially in the ruck, NZ can bite you from a set piece in their own end. Neither team was supposed to be here. NZ is a 2 point favorite. Jeeze, that makes some assumptions, can NZ’s pack withstand the SA force, especially at the end? If Jordie Barrett is not contained, SA loses big. NZ beats this spread.

NCAA Week 9

I’m not seeing anything that I even want to watch.

IT’S AN OPEN!!!!

    Ohhh Ohhh!

Paris weather forecast is for showers this afternoon moving to general rain by Kick-Off time for the All Blacks -vs. South Africa Hitler Youth final of the World Cup.

So much for a free flowing innovative game of Rugby we may end up with a down in the bloody-muddy trenches with grinding Forwards football.

The innovative AB’s running Rugby where the Springboks are literally run off their feet, looks like it’s shaping up for ‘The Somme’ battlefield 2.0 where grinding ‘Forwards’ attrition warfare will be the name of the day.

The odds seem to have switched back in favour of the ‘Boks!

    Ahhhhhhh !

    @ coldwarrior:

You mentioned earlier that one of your girls expressed an interest in being a drummer. Here’s a good video for her to watch. It’s the “Paucam” from The Warning’s show in Denver last year. The entire 43 minutes is focused on Pau’s performance, from over her left shoulder. It really shows the amount of physicality involved. As a bonus, Ale is in frame for a lot of it, and you can see the subtle non-verbal communication between the two of them.

Definitely worth watching for someone who’s interested in seeing behind the curtain a bit:

Matthew Perry Dead at 54 After Apparent Drowning
The actor, who was best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, was found dead at a Los Angeles-area home on Saturday.

TMZ reported that Perry was found in a jacuzzi at the home, and no drugs were found at the scene.

Warner Bros. issued a statement about the beloved star: ā€œWe are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”

The Book of Hallowe’en Ruth Edna Kelley, 1919
    From the Archive intro:

The druids, we are told, held black cats sacred, sacrificed enemies in wicker frames set ablaze, and carried magical glass balls crafted from the spittle of snakes. As Christianity spread across Britain, the sacred oak groves of the druids were felled to build churches, and their festivals hollowed out to serve as vessels for monotheistic rites. Saint Johnā€™s Eve was mixed with the dregs of Midsummer; Lammas filled the sterilized bottle of Lughnasadh, a Gaelic harvest festival progressively shorn of pagan reference. Like her contemporaries across the Atlantic involved with the Irish Literary Revival or the Scottish Renaissance, Kelley believes that the old magic was buried but not lost: it simply went underground, finding safe passage into modernity in rustic landscapes inhabited by ā€œScotch, Irish, and Welsh peasantryā€, who still believe that ā€œbrooks, hills, dales, and rocks abound in tiny supernatural beingsā€.

Are you a Democrat, a Republican or a Southerner?

The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You’re walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.

Suddenly, a terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams “Allah ho akhbar!”, raises the knife, and charges at you…

You are carrying a Kimber 1911 .45 ACP, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
    What do you do?

    THINK CAREFULLY AND
    THEN SCROLL DOWN:

    Democrat’s Answer:

Well, that’s not enough information to answer the question!

What is a Kimber 1911.45 ACP?

Does the man look poor or oppressed?

Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling?

Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?

    Could we run away?

    What does my wife think?

    What about the kids?

Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?

What does the law say about this situation?

Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?

Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?

Is it possible he’d be happy with just killing me?

Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?

If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?

    Should I call 9-1-1?

Why is this street so deserted?

We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day.

Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.

I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.

    This is all so confusing!

    ………… ………. …….. ….. ……… ……. …….. …….. .

    Republican’s Answer:

    BANG!

    ………… ……. …… …….. ……… …….. ………. ….

    Southerner’s Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
    BANG ! BANG! BANG! BANG!
    Click….. (Sounds of reloading)

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!BANG!BANG!

A great game totally ruined by the referees. ESPECIALLY the TMO (TV referee siting up in his studio with a team of lawyers deciding who won and who lost and who goes home) So the AB’s captain has an accidental head clash and gets ‘sin binned’ for 10 minutes but the ABs are rather pissed off and play like harridans and shock the ‘Boks to the core. THEN the TMO and his team of lawyers decide to upgrade the yellow card to a red card and the ABs Captain is sent off for the rest of the game leaving the ABs a man short for 3/4 of the game.

Then exactly the same thing happens to the Captain of the ‘boks … the ‘claret’ pours from the face of an AB and the ‘boss Captain is also sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes and the teams are now playing a man short. Seemed fair ….. UNTIL …. the ‘boss Captain DOESN’t get his yellow card upgraded to a Red Card and he’s allowed to return to the field after his 10 minutes ……. in the bin…. THIS TOTALLY ruins the World Cup Final.

Still the ABs are now really pissed off and play like they are possessed and get to within a single point of the ‘boks when they conjure up some AB ‘magic’ . They toss the ball about mesmerising the whole ‘boss’ team and SCORE a Try. The lawyers and the referee in the TMO box decide that this ‘magic’ can’t be allowed to happen and strip the ABs of their try which would have won them the game and given them the Webb Ellis Cup as World Champions.

The ABs throw everything but the kitchen sink at the exhausted ‘boks , with the now REALLY pissed off ABs pushing the ‘boks supposed superhero scrum around like there a bunch of kindergarteners, but the exhausted ‘boks manage to stat on their feet and run out the clock.

The best team, who has made all the running during the game DOESN’t win and the victorious ‘boks stagger off to the showers clutching their cup. The moron ref in the TMO studio with his team of lawyers go to the bar to get drunk. The Brit Referee on the field has forced, what was a winning team of ABs , to collect their silver medals and wanders off to collect his illicit winning at the local betting shop!

BLOODY PERFIDIOUS ALBION strikes again! Now the Apocalypse is allowed to happen as all of the pieces are in place and the South African ‘Hitler Youth’ have back to back World Cups and there is no justice in the world!

The AB s await the sounding of trumpets and look out for Gog and Magog to show up for the real final! With the ‘Hitler Youth’ Boks basking in the Lake of Fire where they belong.

It’s not as if this was just a game or anything!!

Not at the time, no. In recent years, I’ve seen people complain that we were obviously “racist,” since we only nuked Japan and not Germany.

Never mind the fact that Germany surrendered several months before the bombs were ready. It’s generally considered unsporting to nuke people after they’ve surrendered.

My comment is that nobody complained when Germany was firebombed. Two names stand out … Le May of the USAAF and the 8th Airforce and UK’s Bomber Command and ‘Bomber’ Harris. Dresden burned for days with 1,200 degrees C in the city centre where the bricks melted together ‘No Quarter Existential Combat’ tends to bring out the worst in mankind, as civilisation survival itself is in the pack of cards. It’s better to fi ish it rather than allow compassion to intervene and lengthen the suffering. Compassion has a lot to answer for in the past 70= years of ‘forever wars’! When you are fighting an existential war of civilisational survival the words cease fire or truce are just code for reload and move to the next attack. Forever wars are truly Amoral!

Accept That Savagery Is the True Nature of the World ā€“ and Deal With It

    Remember the Pax Romana?
    .
    .
Caesar at Alesia. The Gauls had gotten uppity and killed a lot of Romans, so Caesar decided to pacify them. The barbarian leader Vercingetorix took refuge in the hilltop town, and Caesar immediately surrounded it. He had his legionnaires build a giant wall around it to lock the Gauls inside. The Gauls called their friends for help, so Caesar built another wall around his besieging forces to keep the relief column at bay. He starved out Alesia, eventually forcing the Gauls to attack and defeating them handily. Then he took Vercingetorix back to Rome, made him march in chains in triumph, and then had his defeated enemy strangled. This was an important learning point for the barbarians. Donā€™t screw with civilized people, or everybody dies.

This is how you get a Pax Romana.

Not too many at the time, no—though even then there were people stupid enough to suggest that there should be a “demonstration” bombing, which apparently meant that we should somehow persuade the Japanese High Command to sit in the bleachers while we dropped a “demonstration” bomb and said, “See what we could do to you? Why don’t you just be good boys and surrender?”

The problems with this were many: not only would it have been impossible to get the Japanese leaders thus assembled for such a demo, but
    a) We only had a few bombs, and those developed at great expense;
    b) We didn’t know if they’d actually work under battlefield, as opposed to test, conditions (and nothing is more lame than a “demonstration” that doesn’t come off; and
    c) Worst of all, even if such a demonstration could be arranged and stage successfully, nothing says “lack of seriousness and resolve” like saying to an implacable enemy, “Look what we could do, but which we’re willing to not do if you hand over your surrender swords now.”

The people who pushed this nonsense then, and the many more who do it now, do not realize that we did arrange not merely one, but two, “demonstrations”—Hiroshima and Nagasaki—and that even after the second demonstration the Japanese did not immediately surrender. Indeed, when Hirohito first attempted to arrange for a surrender, he was attacked by his own generals and nearly killed for trying to do so.

BTW, as a historical note, for many years after WWII there were Japanese soldiers found on various Pacific islands who were still carrying on the war. The last such holdout was finally captured in the late ’60s or early ’70s.

Here’s an interesting song from The Warning. They apparently close with it most of the time when they play in Latin American venues, but not in the US or Europe. Note that Pau finally escaped from behind the drums for this one. The guy filling in for her is actually her drum teacher:

    Translation of the lyrics:

They say you have to pray for me
    so worried
But, I don’t see that they are praying so much
It’s not a big deal, leave your judgments now
    Stay away from me please
    Criticize me a little more
I find myself entertained when listening
Everything they say, everything they curse
    Let me laugh some more
Because you, you don’t know anything
You spread the word and you don’t shut up
I cover my ears and just say
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Let me deny the list, I’m not crazy or a malinchista
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
They say I’m selfish, damned narcissist
I do not know what to do
I don’t see the point in pretending
I don’t try anymore, because I already know
Behind the curtains, they keep talking!
Your good intentions always come out on top!
Don’t think you’re fooling me with that disguise
Because you, you don’t know anything
You spread the word and you don’t shut up
I cover my ears and simply say
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Let me deny the list, I’m not crazy or a malinchista
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
They say I’m selfish, damned narcissist
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
I will deny the list again
    I’m not crazy or malinchista
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
They say I’m selfish, damned narcissist

The one untranslated word, “malinchista,” is a Mexican slang term for someone who prefers non-Mexican culture. Basically, it’s like when American blacks say that someone is “acting white.” From what I’ve read, they’ve taken a lot of heat from people in their own country for not being “authentically Mexican” enough.

Most of their songs are in English (and all three of them speak better English than most Americans). They were raised in an upper-middle class family in Monterrey, and are of primarily Spanish descent, rather than the more typical mestizo mix of Spanish and native.

    Meanwhile in Colorado:

Court arguments begin on blocking Trump from the presidential ballot under the ā€˜insurrectionā€™ clause

Efforts to use the U.S. Constitutionā€™s ā€œinsurrectionā€ clause to bar former President Donald Trump from running for the White House again entered a new phase Monday in a hearing focused on whether the Jan. 6 Capitol attack meets the Constitutionā€™s definition of the word and whether Trumpā€™s role meets the threshold for being barred.

The Colorado hearing is the first of two statesā€™ lawsuits that could end up reaching the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mondayā€™s testimony began with details about the 2021 assault that was intended to halt certification of Joe Bidenā€™s election win .

Attorney Eric Olson, representing a group of Colorado voters seeking to keep Trump off the ballot, recounted Trumpā€™s violent rhetoric and encouraging of a crowd that came within ā€œ40 feetā€ of the vice president when they stormed the Capitol. He said Trump ā€œsummoned and organized the mob.ā€

ā€œWe are here because Trump claims, after all that, that he has the right to be president again,ā€ Olson said. ā€œBut our Constitution, the shared charter of our nation, says he cannot do so.ā€

At the start of Mondayā€™s hearing in Colorado, the judge rejected a Trump motion that she step aside because she once contributed money to a liberal group.

On Thursday, oral arguments are scheduled before the Minnesota Supreme Court on an effort to kick the Republican former president off the ballot in that state. Whether the judges keep Trump on the ballots or boot him, their rulings are likely to be swiftly appealed, eventually to the U.S. Supreme Court. The nationā€™s highest court has never ruled on the Civil War-era provision in the 14th Amendment that prohibits those who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and then ā€œengaged in insurrectionā€ against it from holding higher office.

It’s almost like these idiots are trying to start another civil war…

Of course not. I was just pointing out the parallels with black culture in the US. I’m pretty sure that if they hadn’t gotten into music, those girls would have gone off to college and been productive citizens, rather than trying to be “cool” and hanging out with cartel wannabes (or worse).

I think we may have found a clue to why no action was taken when the Maine shooter was locked up for two weeks last summer for evaluation. It happened while he was in upstate NY on annual training with his Reserve unit, and he was at the Army hospital at West Point. Following an incident like that, the Provost Marshal’s office at West Point was supposed to have reported it to the system. Guess what didn’t happen?

Just like the Air Force veteran who shot up that church in Texas a few years ago. They never got around to reporting his domestic violence incident, either.

Obviously, the solution is for me to turn in my guns, though.

I looked all over for this quote yesterday but couldn’t find it because I couldn’t remember who it was from. Heinlien.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded ā€” here and there, now and then ā€” are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as ā€œbad luck.ā€

Oddly enough, Instapundit had it up this morning.

Yemen has just joined Hamas and is no officially at war with Israel. Now watch the rest of the Muslim world joining on the pile on as always happens. If Israel begins to have its tactical and strategic defences overwhelmed by sheer weight of firepower there is NO WAY that Israel won’t use its nukes in an existential war to the death. If the usual Muslim pile on happens this time, then the world as we know it will be a very different place.

If they are Houthy rebels from the North West I didn’t believe that they had many missiles with the range to worry most of the Israeli population centres. Maybe Elait in the extreme South on the Red Sea but not much else. I know that they have a few Silkworms out of a museum but not much else with any really significant range. The USN destroyer on station off Northern Yemen didn’t seem to have many problems snotting a few missiles and a small ‘flock of drones’, last week!

    Tell me about it!

I put it down to not having a functioning government in place yet. So far 2 weeks have passed counting and cross referencing all of the million+ special votes from Kiwis scattered around the globe. The ‘on the night count is just a rough estimate. When margins are course and there is no real chance of flipping an electorate there is not a real problem . BUT there are a load a razor thin ‘on the night majorities’ that could still go either way. The Coalition of right-ish kinda partners have a 1 seat majority and a third party (NZ First) may have to be brought into the mix to secure a definitive win for the ‘sorta right’. With the current voting system of proportional voting where everyone gets two votes …. one for an electorate member and one for a party vote, then ‘tactical ‘split’ voting comes into its own. With the Kiwi system styled on the German voting system there is a very 5% high barrier to voting for one of the myriad single interest parties. Given that hurdle there can be a load of wasted Party votes, and that complicates the final numbers round-up for Party votes. Tactical voting can be a real two edged sword when it comes to Party votes. If a minor Party scores a single win in an actual electorate seat then regardless of their Party vote the Electorate winner can carry a few Party members along on his / her coat tails. This even gets more confusing in some situations when you end up with an ‘overhang’ Party vote that pushes the total House seats up from the nominal 120 seat House to 121 or even 122 seat House. This then has down stream effects when you need more than a coalition of 60 Seats + 1 to govern. Then you have to appoint a ‘supposed’ apolitical, Speaker of the House to act as a referee in the House. This may mean in a House with a razor thin majority, an agreed member from an opposition party can be elected Speaker. Now THAT can get real messy real fast, if the Speaker starts dabbling in politics instead of acting as a neutral referee. The question of minority government can also happen where a supporting party can not be part of a government but can sign an agreement to support House Bills of a minority government ‘On Confidence & Supply’. Meaning that it agrees formally to not vote against minority government Bills and will guarantee( Supply ) Money Bills.

So NZ is currently living in governmental Limbo between administrations where the outgoing Administration is being advised by the new incoming administration until an electoral solution is worked through, including the horse trading between successful coalition members or potential members of a new Administration.

This BS can take up to 6 weeks to come to a conclusion.

As the world moves from crisis to crisis we probably missed the Synod of Synodality in Rome …… what ever the hell that actually means. Perhaps you were busy picking lint from your bellybutton or something equally urgent! šŸ™‚

Here is Matt discussing what actually went down in Rome over the past month. It was serious but mostly a non-event and carried out behind closed doors. As normal!
Matt uses the first half to lay the context with what happened in Rome. If you aren’t really all that interested then skip ahead to the 30 minute mark and listen as Matt spells it out for all to hear. Persist as you need to at least know what is going down globally so that you can’t use the excuse of …. we didn’t know!

    https://www.remnantnewspaper.com/web/index.php/articles/item/6878-busted-synod-on-synodality-is-the-catacombs-pact

Know about this wickedness and keep your powder dry. Sure we win in the end but at least know what is happening in the shadows of the Roman catacombs and the evil pact that was signed 50 years ago and has just been energised once more. Then you can’t say that you just didn’t know what was happening and use ignorance as your excuse for not doing anything.

If you forget the context and just listen to the final 25 minutes from the 30 minute mark, take the time to listen. It won’t be a waste!

British Police and especially The Metropolitan Police and Midlands Police have been totally corrupted and politicised. The fish rots from the head. It is due to the politicisation of Chief Constables as well as the second and third tiers down as far as Inspectors in some cases. There has been some buzz about the Hamas perpetrators of the October 7 massacre, and the Hamas fighters killed/captured subsequently, being hopped up on a drug called “Captagon,” apparently some amphetamine variation, also called “the poor man’s cocaine.”

Many people are not aware that the English word “assassin” is derived from “hashishiyoun,” an Arabic term for “the hashish eaters,” which was used to describe the Crusader-era equivalent of today’s jihadis and suicide bombers. There were, of course, no bombs during the era of the Crusader Kingdom in the land of Israel, gunpowder not yet having been discovered, but the “hashishiyoun” were drugged-up jihadi killers working under the direction of Hassan-i Sabbah, “The Old Man of the Mountain,” who kept a stable of young men whom he provided with drugs and women in a “paradise” fortress, and whom he sent out on murder missions telling them that if they returned having been successful in their missions they would be re-admitted to “paradise,” and that they would also attain paradise if they were killed in performance of their mission.

Most articles discussing the Captagon drug use of Hamas killers reference the Nazis, which is apt since Hamas is modeled after the Nazis, and since the WWII German soldiers were also given amphetamines—but the tradition of drugged-up jihadi killers goes much farther back in history.

    Divert and youā€™re DEAD!
Delta Pilot Indicted for Threatening to Shoot Captain During Flight

A Delta pilot has been charged in relation to a disturbing incident in which he allegedly threatened to shoot the captain of his flight if he diverted the plane for a passengerā€™s medical issue.
Californiaā€™s Jonathan J. Dunn, the first officer on an August 22, 2022, flight, has been indicted by a grand jury for interfering with the crew of a commercial airline flight, the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of the Inspector General said.
While Dunn was ā€œauthorizedā€ to carry a firearm through the Transportation Security Administrationā€™s Federal Flight Deck Officer program, he ā€œtold the Captain they would be shot multiple times if the Captain diverted the flight,ā€ the Inspector Generalā€™s statement said.
The threat came ā€œafter a disagreement about a potential flight diversion due to a passenger medical event,ā€ the press release added.
Delta also said that Dunn has since been terminated from the airline.
The indictment, obtained by the outlet on Tuesday, alleges that Dunn ā€œdid assault and intimidate a crew member of an aircraftā€¦and did use a dangerous weapon in assaulting and intimidating the crew member.ā€
The agency noted that Dunn has been removed from the FFDO program which allowed him to bring a gun on domestic flights, but did not add further details due to the ā€œpending investigation.ā€
Dunnā€™s arraignment is scheduled for November 16.

Obviously the F/O had a ā€˜hot dateā€™ at his original destination and didnā€™t want to stand his date up!

    Happens all the time!

I did remonstrate when a Captain landing at Auckland out of LAX, tried and missed an approach due to very low cloud and fog. We hit the BINGO (divert to Christchurch point) on the second approach but thatā€™s just fine as we were burning very little fuel and we also had a 45 minute emergency fuel load as well as the divert fuel still in the tanks. This MORON DID actually have a ā€˜hot dateā€™ and was determined to get in to Auckland one way or another. I was head down calling the numbers with the Captainā€™s head up and looking for visual cues, as was the Flight Engineer. We hit minimums and there was a (pause) . Obviously the Captain couldnā€™t see squat out the front and that meant an immediate divert, no questions asked. You could feel the Engineer getting jumpy behind me and there was a sharp intake of breath. Legally I wasnā€™t supposed to take a peek and stay fixated on the clocks, but given the circumstances I did a quick bob up and down, and took a peek. THERE WAS NOTHING BUT FOG OUT THE FRONT. By then we were about 150 feet above the ground!!! The Captain then said RUNWAY ā€¦ LANDING. I then legally lifted my head and saw NOTHING!!! By then the engineer said 50 feet and the Captain started to close the thrust levers and round out. At 50 feet I saw the edge lighting of the runway to port and the centreline of the aircraft was half over grass and half over runway edge lighting. Then a light patch of fog passed and the Captain kicked the rudders left and managed to put all the wheels on tarmac ā€¦. JUST! We then entered another thick fog bank and could barely see the runway edge lighting flashing past as we slowed. The Captain was shaking like a leaf and I told him that he was a MORON and could have killed all 320 of us aboard and I was of a mood to make a formal report of this near accident. He was still shaking like a leaf and tried to laugh it off. I told him and used the Engineer as a witness, that I would refuse to fly with the Captain ever again and if he ever saw my name rostered to fly with him again, he had better go sick or I would REPORT him for dangerous operating. The Flight Engineer also laid down the law to the Captain and told him that he would refuse to operate with that Captain ever again and would also report him to DCA as well as Air NZ Flight Standards and the Chief Pilot.

This happened because the Captain DID had a ā€˜hot dateā€™ and ā€˜neededā€™ to get into Auckland, no matter what!!

This Captain never flew with me nor the Flight Engineer again and must have been going sick reasonably regularly!

    TVs are basically SHIT!

Motoring expert John Cadogan’s scathing verdict on electric cars

Motoring journalist John Cadogan, who runs the AutoExpert website commented in typically colourful fashion in a YouTube video posted on Tuesday which is titled ‘Tesla EVs are just too expensive to own – says Hertz CEO’.
He claimed Telsas are proving twice as costly to repair as comparable combustion engine vehicles.
Cadogan also arguedthat slowing sales has led to showroom discounting which destroys resale value and threatens retailers’ commercial viability.
The video follows a blistering attack on electric vehicles made by a top Toyota executive who questioned whether they were suited to Australia.
And car rental giant Hertz this week announced it was slowing the introduction of 100,000 Teslas into into its fleet – with only around 35,000 operating – despite first announcing the bulk purchase in 2021.

In a typically pithy and expletive-laden post, Cadogan explained why.
‘The damn things just cost too much to keep on the road and the resale value Is s***,’ he said.
Hertz Global CEO Stephen Scherr said that collision and damage repairs on a Tesla cost ‘about twice that associated with a comparable combustion engine vehicle’.
The electric vehicle market globally has been stalling with AutoForecast Solutions Vice President Sam Fiorani telling Business Insider ‘the spectacular growth we’ve seen over the last few years cannot be sustained’.
Cadogan explained this as a shortage of ‘virtue-signalling t**ts’.
‘Electric scientology-zealot customers seems to be plateauing,’ he said.
‘It could signal an end to the age of bullsh***.’
In response he said Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who he called ‘electric Jesus’, has been forced to ‘start inelegantly slashing prices to keep customers coming through its front door’.
He said this was causing a steep drop in resale value.
Mr Scherr also mentioned this in justifying Hertz’s slower take-up of the model.
‘The MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) declines in EVs over the course of 2023, driven primarily by Tesla, have driven the fair market value of our EVs lower as compared to last year, such that as salvage creates a larger loss and therefore greater burden,’ Mr Scherr said.
Prices on new Teslas have been dropping by up to 20 percent, according to Cadogan.
‘Face facts Tesla fanboy, how many 20 per cent price drops are sustainable for Tesla before the s***show just collapses,’ he said.
‘If cutting prices is the only counter measure for increased competition, Tesla is doomed.’
He pointed out that a bulk purchaser such as Hertz would be getting their Teslas at a significant discount and would have negotiated a good deal for maintenance.
‘Not even this has been sufficient to invert for Hertz the economics of the double whammy that Teslas are too expensive to repair and the resale value has imploded,’ Cadogan said.
The discounting of new Teslas was a cynical move that heavily impacted owners, according to Cadogan.
‘Every time electronic Jesus just slashes prices, this greatly impacts existing owners resale value too,’ he argued.
‘He’s happy to trash existing owners if it keeps new faithful coming in, which is not a very sustainable long-term commercial strategy, is it.
‘If you really take the biggest bath on your (Tesla) Model 3 are you really going to front up again? How much of the Koolaid have you actually consumed?’
He thought what was true of Teslas was largely true of all battery-powered vehicles.
‘It seems every day there is another brick in the wall of evidence that this insane rush to transition to battery electric transport exclusively is little more than a buffet of all-you-can-eat s*** sandwiches,’ he said.
‘And problematically I think we are running out of bread.’
In the video’s comments section many weighed in with their view of Tesla and electric vehicles and the sentiment was mostly negative.
‘If something is too expensive for large car rental company to own/operate, that’s good sign for us normal people to know,’ one added.
A second added: People are starting to realise that EVs are not the green utopia they fantasised about in their wildest dreams.’
A third said: ‘Proudly keeping my 1990’ Volvo wagons maintained and on the road. Also cant say enough how much the vintage interior makes for a welcome get away from the world filled with computer screens everwhere.
‘Yes, it needs premium gas, and gets 25mi/gal, yes it requires maintenance but overall its cheaper to insure and maintain than a $400/month car on 86 month loan.’
Toyota sales boss Sean Hanley told journalists last week that electric vehicles were ill-equipped for many typical Australian distances, stress and uses.
“It is too early,ā€ Hanley said.
‘What battery electric vehicle do we have right now on sale in Australia that can tow 2.5 tonnes for 600km? We donā€™t. It doesnā€™t exist.
‘If we just move to only zero-emission vehicles, what are you going to tell the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Australians who tow caravans, who use their cars for work, who need their cars on the land, who need their cars in the mine, who need more than a 200 or 300km range?’

It was announced this week that US auto giant Ford will be cutting its investment in electric vehicles after the stunning news they lost approximately $US36,000 ($57,000) for every battery-powered vehicle produced.
Ford’s long-time rival General Motors also announced it had abandoned its target to produce 400,000 electric vehicles through the first half of 2024, citing slowing demand, manufacturing bottlenecks and low profitability.

ā€˜Proportionateā€™ ā€” now thereā€™s a word of the moment, lately found in any number of editorialistsā€™ chin-stroking ruminations on the state of play in Israel and Gaza. It seems, as far as one can follow the scribblersā€™ woke logic, that the enlightened and fair-minded are obliged to inscribe on one side of the ledger a list of the bloody outrages endured and then balance the books by responding only so much and no more. Force of arms must never deviate from from some unspecified rubric of fairness and moral equivalence.

Simple, really, if taken as stated: The Hamas filth roast a baby alive, behead others, rape, butcher, kidnap, and burn, so the proportionate response, logically speaking, would be for Israelis to rape, butcher, kidnap, and burn in equal measure. What could be more ā€˜proportionateā€™ than equivalence, an eye for an eye? But that, of course, is not what the solons of the opinion pages mean.

Aggrieved Israelis, it seems, should be more like the well-known Jew of long ago who turned the other cheek, with just a dash of judicious anger such as that directed at money-changers in the Temple. Well, as the world is seeing and Kinky Friedman sang, they ainā€™t making Jews like Jesus anymore. Trouble is, as editorialists and bylined opinionistas continue to demonstrate, the refuge of relatavist thinking hasnā€™t changed at all except to embrace with even greater enthusiasm the notion that good and bad need to balance on the bottom line.

Rod Dreher explains why this has come to be the case in a lengthy report on the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London, where Quadrantā€˜s Simon Kennedy was also in attendance and filed this report. After describing how Texas Muslim leaders sought to have him fired from his job at the Dallas Morning News for daring to point out the radicalism being promoted in Texas mosques, Dreher writes:

ā€¦ for over twenty years now, we have been instructed by the media and by institutional leaders not to ask the hard questions [of Islam], because the hard questions are bigoted on their face.

Where has that gotten us? It has gotten us to a place where open Jew-hatred is common in America of 2023, as long as it is framed as in support of Muslim Palestinians. And combined with wokeness, it has gone from something we were all supposed to avert our eyes from two decades ago, lest some redneck somewhere have a Bad Thought about Islam, to something they are proud to proclaim.

After October 7 and its aftermath, we canā€™t put off asking hard questions and making hard demands of American Muslims. But of even greater importance, given their far greater numbers and influence in American institutions, are the Woke.

Islamic radicalism might have been contained had it not been for the woke. You might wish to believe that these people are all still only a small number in American life, but you had better understand that history shows it only takes a small number of truly committed revolutionaries to control a society.

We can no longer suppress or otherwise avoid hard questions about wokeness in our society. It is soft totalitarianism ā€” but it wonā€™t stay soft.

Doug Macgregor is at it again. He’s one of the most dangerous people in the world. Alas he’s almost right 90% of the time, but there is that pesky 10% of the time where he gets things terminally WRONG. Having seen the veneer thin depth of MacGregor thought processes, once he goes ‘off the reservation’ and onto scenarios where he has little or no idea about reality. MacGregor then leads his cohort of true believers along with him into places that he doesn’t know and which lead to blind alleys that can actually kill them. Believing in that, ‘off script ‘ dangerous 10% of arrant and logically veneer thin nonsense, can get one killed even more certainly dead.

The mere suggestion, by one commentator that MacGregor ‘understands China’ better than Mearsheimer who like Francis Fukuyama, is ethnocentric and tends to judge east Asia as if the cultures there were similar to those of Europe and North America. The commentator goes on to opine that MacGregor’s friend, Jeffrey….. ,the arch thought leader for the WEF and the whole ‘One World’ Push ….. SACHS, will enlighten his BBF mate MacGregor in the near future.

At that suggestion my coffee sprayed out of my nose!

These people are going to end up killing us all for all of the very best, but slightly erroneous, but still deeply flawed ideas.

    Opps !

Just after this potentially useful ‘demonstration’ of the newly uprated B-61 dial-able nuke the US had a wee oppsy!

In the glare of publicity, with the South Koreans watching (maybe Biden’s Pentagon figured that this success might leak back to North Korea ) , the US tested a Minuteman III. Alas it ended up as an embarrassing ‘fizzer. Just when things seemed to be going so well for the Biden Administration’s Pentagon PR crew!

Does the failure of the missile delivery system cancel out the success of the part of the system that was designed to go BANG?

Soros-backed DA Jason Williams of New Orleans was carjacked at gunpoint.

DA Williams campaigned against cash bail and called for alternatives to prison. During his first few months in office, he dismissed 66% of all violent felony cases.

The bail for Ahmad Seals (18) has been set at $150,000. The bail for Raymond Rochon (18) is set at $120,000. A third underage suspect will be prosecuted as an adult (Louisiana AG)

Elissa Slotkin was just on MSNBC whining about how there was no aid to Gaza included in the bill the House just passed to aid Israel.

Do you normally send aid to both sides in a war/ Maybe, if you’re trying to prolong it. Is she going to call for aid to Russia to be included with the next truckload of cash to Ukraine?

Never heard of this Macgregor clown before. He may have cogent observations about something or other, but the column you’ve linked to shows him to be an ignorant and ahistorical boob where the Arab-Israeli conflict is concerned. There’s also a wee Biden Depends-load stench of Jew-hate wafting off him.

I’ve been listening to NPR (“National Palestinian Radio”), and it’s amazing how, despite all the lockdowns in Gaza, and the cessation of this or that service, the “news”-people there seem to be doing just fine. They have no trouble finding people to interview; all their electronics and broadcasting equipment works, they’re not starving or dying of thirst (nor are their interviewees), yet we are all supposed to be Deeply Moved by their interviewees’ descriptions of the (alleged) horrors of the Israeli foray into Gaza.

Meanwhile—as people holding passports from everywhere from the US to Slovakia to Ungabunga flee Gaza (why were they there in the first place? Gaza is hardly a tourist destination), which sort of shows that the tight interdiction of Gaza is nonsense, these same news correspondents do not seem able to balance their sob stories about the privations of Gaza with one single interview with someone in Israel who had a loved one abducted by the Hamas murderers. Interesting example of unbalanced “balanced coverage.”

I was looking for a response from Sen. Tom McClintock, but this will do for now.

Massie was one of 22 Republicans who voted Wednesday to table a resolution by Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia that would have censured Tlaib for antisemitic comments and a raucous Oct. 18 protest. Tlaib and other left-wing members of the House of Representatives known as ā€œThe Squadā€ released statements calling for a ceasefire almost immediately after Israel began its response to the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks by Hamas.

Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky defended his vote to table a resolution condemning Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan Thursday.
ā€œFree speech isnā€™t just about protecting the speech that you like, itā€™s especially about protecting the speech you donā€™t like,ā€ Massie told ā€œJesse Watters Primetime guest host Rachel Campos-Duffy. ā€œI think the protest was an expression of speech. Now, the other reason that I voted against this resolution, the language was modelled after a resolution that I voted against two years ago that calls the January 6th protesters insurrectionists. Itā€™s wrong to call the January 6th protesters insurrectionists and I think itā€™s wrong to call the people that were with Rashida Tlaib insurrectionists. So, those were my two reasons for voting against it.ā€

I have no idea of his actual combat experience as a leader of men in high stress situations. His major defect is that he strays away from the stuff he knows well, and his followers tend to sit at his feet and absorb both his valid prognostications, but then with the ‘good stuff’, they also believe the 10% of his totally arrant nonsense.

I used to be one of his acolytes until MacGregor stumbled into Pacific geopolitics and all manners of Pacific ‘defence’. A place where I actually had more than a little ‘topic background’ wedded to practical on the ground experience, and discovered that MacGregor was a total fraud when it came to this knowledge topic.

After that shocking experience I became a little more circumspect about other seemingly ‘loose’ logic jumps that MacGregor was propounding.

As a major, he was the squadron (battalion) S-3 for the 1st Squadron, 4th Cav at what came to be known as the Battle of 73 Easting during Desert Storm. As far as I know, that was his only actual combat service.

He also served as Wesley Clark’s senior planner for the 1999 NATO operations in Yugoslavia.

Not sure I’d put that on my resume…

Yup I’d be keeping that ‘cluster f**k a little quiet!

My God son actually commanded a Platoon of Samoans belonging to the 100th. /447th Regiment attached to 25 Div (Hawaii). Did some up close and personal punch-ups and didn’t lose a Samoan although several were wounded during his tenure in the ‘Sand-box’. His main problem was the Monday Morning Quarterbacking from One stars literally electronically looking over his shoulder and offering ‘….. suggestions’ ….. None of these General officers had EVER been at the sharp end of a bayonet among people that were earnestly attempting to kill you and your men! These would be ‘combat infantry’ rear services officers, were just living vicariously through a poor Lt. schmuk trying his best to kill as many of the enemy without getting his own men killed.
He succeeded and his men knew it! He is a true close combat urban warfare officer of the first water, regardless of the ‘ unrequested or required suggestions’ that were forthcoming from senior Corps Level officers.

Many times misuse of technology just gets in the way when it comes down to staying alive.
