NCAA Football week 10 2023 OPEN

Filed under College Football, Open thread at November 4th, 2023 - 7:44 am

Well, The All Blacks REF let me down last week in the Rugby World Cup, So we are $1200 / $1000
I’m back from the road for a couple of days. My butcher delivered a pork shoulder, two St Louis ribs, and a couple beef ribs from the farm up the road last night.

*I DECLARE MEATFEST!!!*

All are on the smoker. I ace the ribs and shoulder, but jeeze, I just cant seem to get the beef ribs right. I want to make them like the Brazilian joint up the road but just can’t get it. So, try again. Maybe pay closer attention this time!

England is playing the Aussies in ODI right now and I’ll eyeball that after I’m done here.

Let’s get to it

23 Kansas State @ 7 Texas 12:00 PM…The much improved Wildcats have to go to Austin. The line is only 3, which means that Vegas thinks that this would be a tie on neutral site. Nah, The ‘Horns cover.

9 Oklahoma @ 22 Oklahoma State 3:30 PM. It’s BEDLAM!!! This is ALWAYS a great game regardless of records; 100 years of history. Both teams are pretty good this year. The Sooners are 6 point faves and this will be the last time that they play each other in BigXII competition. I hate what is going on with all of these teams jumping to other divisions. The Sooners are 6 point faves on the road. This game is always close, The Sooners don’t cover.

14 LSU @ 8 Alabama 7:45 PM. LSU, like my beloved Panthers and The Vols always break my heart. ‘Bama is only a 3 point fave at home. I can’t go against that. Saban covers.

This is a significant development. Any member of Congress who votes for the Israel aid package can be criminally prosecuted and sued for money in other countries. There will be organized teams of jurists in a variety of places to prosecute them

Democrat Activists have scaled the White House fence carrying a hostile nations foreign flag.

They are defying Secret Service orders.

    Vandalizing federal property.

    And rioting.

I don’t have many heroes but Asra Nomani is one of them. She was there (video)

Remember this day. Nov. 4, 2023. 5:41 PM. The Woke Army is at the White House. “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” they bellowed in the war chant that means only one thing: the annihilation of Jews in the state of Israel.

I stood with my back pinned against the black steel fence between the crowd on Pennsylvania Avenue and the White House, as the anti-Israel, pro-Hamas crowd chanted, “Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!” Allah is great.

They shouted the shahada, the Muslim proclamation of faith, too. The call to prayer for the maghrib sunset prayer broke through the chants. And the crowd held signs from the Party for Socialism and Liberation. They shouted for the intifada. And trashed the White House lawn with water bottles and posters thrown over the fence. They painted the pillars to the security gates with red paint of “blood” hand prints.

There is a bloodlust for Israel and Jews. It made my eyes widen, my stomach sick and my heart pulse. It’s staged political theater, socialists bussed in from New York and Muslims ascending from mosques.

    We Muslim reformers and ex-Muslims
    @DrZuhdiJasser

    @Ayaan

    @YasMohammedxx

    @Raheelraza

    @TheMuslimReform

    @CLARITyCoaltion
tried a 1,000 times to warn the Democratic Party and liberals they had forged an unholy alliance with Islamists but they did it. Now the crowd has a bloodlust for “Genocide Joe” Biden. I’ll put the snapshots from the day here.

If you had any naïveté that Jews or Israels could negotiate with the revolutionaries in the red-green alliance of leftists and Islamists, I can tell you: no way. The Biden administration will have to surrender Israel and Jews to the Woke Army. That’s the only deal they will accept. There is no negotiation.

I know this after today: the Hamas terrorist murders did not result in shame; it stoked a blood lust among anti-Israel groups from the Socialists to the Islamists to destroy Israel. There is no middle ground with them.

    Heads up

    https://jonathanturley.org/2023/11/04/the-seventh-circuit-rules-for-illinois-ar-15-assault-ban/

Yesterday, a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit voted 2-1 to overturn an injunction against Illinois’ “assault weapons” ban. The panel declared that AR-15s are not protected by the Second Amendment in overturning the preliminary injunction win Barnett v. Raoul by U.S. District Judge Stephen P. McGlynn. The case could set up a major test for gun rights for the United States Supreme Court.

Notably, the majority was composed of conservative judge Frank Easterbook and liberal judge Diane P. Wood. Conservative judge Michael P. Brennan dissented.

The majority stressed that in Heller the Supreme Court held, “[l]ike most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited.” They further noted that the court has previously found that machine guns are not protected under the Second Amendment because they were not “bearable” arms under the Second Amendment.

While gun rights advocates have stressed the similarities with other clearly protected weapons, Easterbrook and Wood stressed the similarities between AR-15s and M16s:

The similarity between the AR-15 and the M16 only increases when we take into account how easy it is to modify the AR-15 by adding a “bump stock” (as the shooter in the 2017 Las Vegas event had done) or auto-sear to it, thereby making it, in essence, a fully automatic weapon. In a decision addressing a ban on bump stocks enacted by the Maryland legislature, another federal court found that bump-stock devices enable “rates of fire between 400 to 800 rounds per minute.”

    The ignorance is staggering

    @ eaglesoars:

I’m actually impressed by how easy the made it to adjust the time in the late-model Ford trucks/SUVs. The clock is built into the big central infotainment screen. You just touch Settings, then Clock, and it changes to look like the timer screen on a smartphone. You just scroll up or down to change each digit. Comes in handy for me, since I travel a lot. With the wonky time zones and some states not using Daylight Saving Time, I’ve had to change the clock as much as twice in one day.

I don’t care WHAT other issues are on the table, if Trump (whose personnel decisions were fatal) doesn’t dump this lunatic bitch, I’m voting DeSantis

Where is your husband @ChristinaPushaw? I this him? Or just another one of the men you slept with when you were “working’ in Ukraine?

Perhaps if you spent less time behaving like a whore/dating around, and focused 100% of your time on your job, which is what you should be doing since you are supposed to be working for a Presidential candidate, your boss would be polling higher than 8%.

I am focused on winning. I don’t need any distractions in an election year. You will never have my work ethic or my talent. That’s why everyone hates you, if you haven’t noticed.

It’s obvious I work harder than anyone on @TeamDeSantis. I am more driven, more focused and more dedicated to working toward my goal of getting President Trump back into the White House.

PS: Again, where is your husband?

  45. rain of lead
    46 | November 6, 2023 3:44 pm

The manifesto was suppressed when it happened and we now have confirmed from insiders it was the Justice Department suppressing it. So the local government is upset about this, the police department, and from sources inside the system, we’ll leave it at that. They have leaked to Stephen Crowder and his investigative unit. They have leaked to them the first three pages of the document, where she talks about wokeness and hating white privilege and all the rest of it.

This is being done to then pressure the government itself to officially of Nashville release the manifesto because it’s reportedly huge, and see how this monster was brainwashed and poisoned by leftist propaganda, reportedly from the sources. She was a total brainwashed leftist on a bunch of psychotropics that love BLM, you name it. Stephen Crowder has the first tranche. We’re told more is going to be coming.

I have come to the conclusion that anyone claiming to be ‘trans’ is mentally ill by definition and that they are vulnerable to any ideology that supports their vulnerability. Their vulnerability will always be a group that doesn’t accept them. And that will be their target but they will use an ideology to mask it.

This asshole was not accepted by anyone because she was an asshole and decided to ‘elevate’ her rejection into the political realm to give her some value.

    Where were her parents?

As an aside, I found the one thing that NM is actually efficient at: Concealed carry permits issued under the military exemption. I took the class on Sunday (which was actually not even required), did my fingerprints on Monday morning, submitted the forms online that afternoon, and received my permit in the mail the following Saturday. For free. And it’s good for 5 years, instead of the usual 4.

I’m sure there’s a trick somewhere, but I haven’t figured out what it is yet.

Elizabeth Warren got ratio’d for this idiocy.

The surge of hate & violence against Muslims, Arabs & Palestinian Americans is alarming. It’s powerfully important that the Biden-Harris administration is developing a national strategy to counter Islamophobia. It’s up to all of us to ensure there’s no space for hate in America.

    Au Contraire mon amis!

I had zero pain post op and has had none over the past 45 hours.A wee bit of swelling around the right crutch Common Drain vein entry site. Nice clean entry and exit with minimal bleed and a clear and healthy site. Sucked up to Tim the anaesthetist because mostly it’s not the surgeons who kill ya …. it’s the anaesthetist. Nice guy and the 100% the consummate professional with a good bedside manner. Briefed me well and I asked the odd question and it was ON!. A possibly hypnotic delivered first as I don’t even remember the anaesthesia approach. Not sure of the name of the anaesthetic but it was a fast acting and fast exiting your system. 15 minutes after Tim turned off the anaesthesia I was wide awakened feeling just fine and back in recovery. High tech suite with all of the bells and whistles. Didn’t get to see Ivor the guy handling the TOE and echocardiograph imaging my left arterial region via my gullet. Jonathon White the surgeon gave me a final briefing with all the usual cautions and a good description of what was about to happen. Excellent theatre nurses were great and as expected happy and 100% professionals doing their thingie.

The food was excellent and I was hungry when I woke up and made the most of the all day breakfast, delivered hot and within 15 minutes of phoning through to order off a 5 page menu. Jonathon the surgeon blew in Tuesday AM and took a look at the entry site and gave it the all clear. Got a surprise, and I hate surprises in hospitals, as he had given me 4 weeks of clopidogrel, plus 100mg coated aspirin for 36 bloody months! He ran the stats numbers I guess and the threat of clots outweighed the incidence of my CAA raising its ugly head again. He doubled the dosage of omeprazole to take care of any side reaction from the duodenal ulcer they discovered when delving down my gullet to ensure they could get the TOE probe properly in place.
It’s a bit of a high wire act getting the balance sorted out to get the good stuff out of the medications whilst cancelling out the unwanted side effects. I must say that 36 months on aspirin doesn’t exactly inspire me and I will ask the neurologist who put me on the Levetiracetam to mitigate the CAA symptoms whether a change in dosage may be in order if I begin to get a symptom show. CAA is a weird and 1:10,000 occurrence and most quacks don’t see it presenting very often, if ever!

I’ll be glad to get off this handful of pills and see the back end of the ulcer and get clear of a month’s worth of high dosage clopidogrel with the balancing act between the CAA and the LAA. Frankly I would rather a temporary CAA symptom or two rather than suffering a serious clot forming around my clever plug of nickel and titanium memory metal that has taken up permanent residence in my left aerial appendage of my heart. Had another Echo CG before escaping from the hospital just to ensure the metal bits were where they were supposed to be.The supervising Prof. is meeting at the end of the month and they will possibly do another Echo cardiogram, and I can discuss down titrating the Betas a bit as my normal pulse which was 60 is occasionally as low as 38, which is tad low, to say the least!
The whole show took just 40 hours stay in hospital and three great meals, from woe to go!

    🙂

So now you know as much as I do, cold!

    So much for democracy!

Are these ‘party how to vote papers’ or are they dodgy official voting papers?

The NZ Electoral Commission is deep in the shit here after 3 cases of dodgy voting totals showed up in the standard checks found them using stats checks to alert dodgy totalling and the veracity of the system. Up to 500 votes in a single voting station triggered a general recheck of ALL voting sites. So far 3 anomalies have been found and with razor thin margins involved the Electoral Commission is making sure that there are no more surprises. Some klutz allowed voting papers to run out in one polling area which automatically resulted in a total recount for that seat. The Director of the Electoral Commission is deep in the shit just now ,for poor training of pert time staff, and not keeping a check on staff standards. If he gets sacked and his senior staff follow him it serves them right if their heads will roll! There is no suggestion of organised tampering but some variation in (silly old duffers) part time staffers not keeping to strict protocols and doing an accurate job with data entry cock-ups.

Except Oz. They were on the ropes at something like 94 for 7 when Glen Maxwell a bowler arrived at the crease and hit north of 200 off about 120 balls. The captain who watched the show of monster batting from the other end scored just 12 during this undefeated stand. Cricket is a funny old game! I’ve been debating on whether to share about this or not. But because they showed up to my house unannounced AGAIN today, I decide to go ahead and let you all know. The FBI showed up to my door unannounced on October 17th. I was not home and I won’t share the whole video for the sake of protecting others in my home. They called me later in the day, and wanted to arrange a meeting in private at their local office.

They wanted to speak to me about certain stories I have reported on (with special interest regarding anything war or border related) and the only conclusion I can come to is that they would like access to my sources. They also told me they were “uncomfortable speaking about these topics on the phone”. I did not meet with them.

I DO NOT and WILL NOT share sources, especially when they have requested to remain anonymous. Such is the right of a journalist in the United States of America. I understand that the FBI has a few “good guys” spread through out their agency. However, it’s impossible to know who is good and who is corrupt. The FBI is corrupted beyond repair and you will never see me cooperate with them. Right now, they’re acting like a desperate guy who got turned down and has now turned stalker. If the FBI is reading this, kindly stick it.

She gets way into the weeds on programming tracks into a MIDI synthesizer, which isn’t likely to mean much to them (or about 99% of anyone else, myself included), but if you fast forward past that part, there’s a Q&A session that’s much more general.

One thing that I found particularly interesting about the whole thing was her tendency to stop and revert to English when she couldn’t think of the word for something in Spanish. I’ve never heard a native Spanish speaker do that. They would normally do the opposite (use a Spanish word while speaking English).

Moloc will be well pleased! Keep those furnaces stoked. Most secular Americans are feeding the winds and will reap the whirlwinds. Read the tenor of post modern society and if you can’t read the signs then be prepared to answer for one’s wickedness in the most inopportune way imaginable. Even without reading the signs of a massive case of spiritual warfare, and just looking at the state of the US society in purely secular terms. One has to look no further than Rome circa 5th Century to watch a once all powerful nation state committing societal suicide. Then load onto that ‘cluster f**k all of the spiritual warfare raging and the US and the West in general is sinking into the morass.

I just hope that folks will endure the coming shock, rationalise it logically, and fix what’s left of their societies and themselves. Not exactly rocket science folks. There have been plenty of warnings that have been studiously ignored by most. I just hope that most folks will take the ‘hint’ and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat both personal and societal while the option is open. Pig headed pride has a lot to answer for and a huge cohort will be very sorry after the option has been taken off the table. Alas too late for most!

Starvation after all is the most cost efficient way of killing a LOT of people at the same time. Not even any fallout to foul the mix!

    Best of luck to you.

    Thanks.

Getting off pills as fast as the experts allow. Can’t be good for one’s liver and kidneys long term. Good food and plenty of hard exercise (ultra s-l-o-w and as heavy as you can stand, just four reps and fail and hold on as long as you can stand on the fifth. Total of 5 exercise machines. Push, pull, lift and pull down plus legs. then ‘Fartig’ reclined peddling 20 seconds on max then 2 minutes freewheeling x 5 times) the whole program is done and dusted in 30 minutes Start off five times a fortnight then reduce to just once a week for maintenance.) Find your ideal weights by lifting ONCE … just. Then use the 70% of max weight rule and make that the starting weight. 10 sec up and 10 sec down and up slowly over time to 15 sec up and 15 down. Increase the weights by testing yourself as you get stronger and then keep doing the 70% of the one time max as your standard lift weight. Can’t hurt yourself as your lifts are ultra slow and smooth. The sector is to FAIL on the fifth lift and hold the fail as long as you can fighting it all the way down. THAT is the secret sauce to this program. In the end you reach your max strength for your body and then just hang in there once a week only.

Anyone can find the 15 minutes to do super slow very heavy exercise, plus 15 minutes of ‘Fartig’ peddling each week. You won’t know yourself and you will feel great all the time.

Re: “Climate change,” something to keep in mind:

All the people who want to “regulate the planetary climate” and demand the power and unlimited resources to do so are people who have proven themselves incapable of competently managing and running recently-built, closed, man-made systems. They cannot competently run power grids, or municipal water systems or trash pickup; they cannot competently maintain, let alone repair, the “roads and bridges” they are always prating about; they cannot competently run or maintain the public housing they increasingly want people to live in, or the public transportation systems that they want people to rely on.

More than that; they cannot competently direct disaster recovery/relief from floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, wildfires, volcanic eruptions or earthquakes—let alone control or prevent such disasters.

Yet they want people to believe that they can, and should, be permitted to try and regulate the planetary climate, which is infinitely more subtle and varied and complex than any of the recently-built, closed, man-made systems they have already repeatedly proven incapable of managing.

This was in a really upscale and well-lit area but the alley was pitch black. Just as we started that direction we all got the chills simultaneously and the deep feeling that if we set foot in the alley we’d never be seen again. We backed off and started to leave. I took one last look in the alley and I shit you not I saw something human-sized crawl up the wall of a building, just a darker shadow in the shadows.

    I saw it.

When I was about 14 or so I asked Dad why the Allies just didn’t bomb the concentration camps into oblivion. He said that if the war effort was understood to be about saving the Jews support would have cratered. The camps were deep into Nazi territory and a lot of Allied fighters would have been lost getting to them. We had to fight the enemy, not save their victims.

It’s heartbreaking but he was right. Full disclosure: the plane Dad flew was a B-26, didn’t have the range to reach Germany, he bombed France, Belgium, Netherlands, etc. Utah Beach on D-Day.

This is why twitter is not a sewer. There are fabulous bird photogs, astonishing historians, etc.

After Roman defeats by the Gauls, with the latter going on to sack the city in 390BC. The Gaul army continued to cause mayhem within Rome for the next six months, before being paid off to leave.

This led to the Romans realisation of having to create a proper military machine. They spent following years continuing to improve their battlefield tactics; moulding the soldiers into warriors, while also equipping their legions with the finest armour and weapons of the era.

The result in the end was a military machine that the world had never see before.

Selection in to the Roman legions wasn’t just a straightforward process. They strongly believed that some areas or regions were better for natural warriors, such as the province of Illyricum.

They preferred to pick those who lived in the countryside as opposed to the cities. Believing that those living a city lifestyle were softer and weren’t conditioned the same.

Those who were selected from a city went through a tougher and slightly different training regime.

Final selection under examination concluded with various desirable feats, such as:

    Dear Joe,
Re: Europe & the Russo-Ukrainian War. This message also applies to the Trumpist/GOP Isolationism.

    https://www.internationalaffairs.org.au/australianoutlook/europes-concerns-of-falling-international-support-for-the-ukraine-effort/

Beware laying down with ‘Socialist dogs’ lest you get up with ‘Marxist fleas’mate! Let’s just compromise agreeing to disagree on the ‘facts of the modern Euro-polity’, that the EU is basically a collection of mostly socialist societies, who tend to ‘gang up’ on any fellow member civil society, who doesn’t share their neo-cultish political beliefs. I once held a feint hope that the East European Visgard Group might even break this neo-socialist bloc approach to regional governance. A group, led once upon a time, not that long ago, by Poland, before they lost their political rationality, suffered political capture by the predatory left, lost their faith and turned into an Eastern European ‘mirror’ of ‘the broken flush’ that is now modern Ireland. More’s the pity.

Reading through Dr. Milosz Cordes commentary, authored for his employer the Danish Institute of International Affairs, I kept tripping over fairly overt political manipulation of the truth, and even a few large ‘porkies’. At first I was about to plunge into a structured rebuttal of Cordes’ arguments by deconstructing his ‘screed’, pulling his arguments apart and examining their innards. Then I thought, rather than doing an easy ‘hatchet job’ on Cordes’ paper, perhaps it might be a better idea to first peek behind the author’s organizational façade, and investigate just which ‘socialist dogs’ with whom he has taken up residence.

As I suspected, the author’s immediate employers and associated acolytes, hidden as expected behind the usual organizational boilerplate, but not too difficult to’ winkle out’. Where the covert reality of the author’s associates real agendas lurked. The deeper I dived below the organizational surface, the more radical these covert associates’ agendas became manifest.

Now I understand Joe that you have a bit of national identity invested in Poland’s evolving stand vis a vie the EU, but try not to be captured yourself,by the ‘dead end street’ Identity Politics. If you want me to deconstruct and destroy Cordes arguments then go ahead and just ask, and I will comply. But please divorce yourself from the likes of Danish Institute of International Affairs, or even the notorious Brookings Institute, the social sciences and political departments Universities of Chicago and Philadelphia. Idiots. I don’t think the IDF has bought significant numbers of any Colt product for about 20 years. Their standard service rifle is the domestically-manufactured Tavor.

    Correct.

The IMI do manufacture quality small arms and great ammunition. Used to flog them off globally for a few years back in the day!

The US military actually buys ammo from them, but they’re not allowed to use it in overseas combat zones due to the pesky headstamps.

Our outfit were attempting to wean the NZ Defence Forces from the further use of 81mm mortar ammo as the tubes were inaccurate and wasteful, lacked killing power and spread fire over beaten zone. IMI offered to GIVE the NZDF new 120mm tubes on a one for one basis FOR FREE, if the NZDF would sign a 5 year contract for IMI to supply ammunition. The bonus was that the weapon system could be guided and IMI would guarantee the NZDF that rounds would land within a 5 metre circle of a target. Effectively one shot targeting. The actual order was total chickenfeed at about 3,500 – 5,000 rounds a year! As a kicker IMI would modify a number of LAVIII APCs as a dual mortar carrier, again for free.

The deal had no flaws. Yet for issues of manufacture location NZDF refused to take this offer. Exactly the same thing happened when drones were offered. The NZDF said that they were designing their own artillery surveillance drone. Needless to say that project never saw the light of day. Same thing happened to a building surveillance system where a single person could monitor over 300 CCTVs using a very clever ‘spot the difference’ system connected to an alert system. A NZ two star who was by then the Comptroller of Customs seems to have had a very strong prejudice against all things Israeli, even when the USMC was very happy with many IMI products. Same same with Israeli floating Level III ballistic protective vests for the RNZN…etc…. etc!

Yet back in the day we sold $3million of 5,56 ‘green ammo’ ( sintered powder training rounds) to the Royal Brunei Armed Forces to train their Rangers in offshore Oilfield protection. The ammo was manufactured in So. Dakota and was premium quality. Bloody Brunei REAF tried to shaft us and go around but we were waiting for that to happen and had a 1/3 forward deposit sitting in a First tier US Bank already. The level of corruption in Brunei was eye watering. No written agreements were countenanced and that was kinda a dead give away that these guys were out to line their own pockets. 6 RBAF officers demanded US $1/4 million ‘handling fees’! Yeah r-i-g-h-t! My Singaporean Chinese man on the ground paid no tax and his cut went into a Brunei Bank on an island off the Brunei Coast. My outfit was the only company that paid tax and I was getting pissed off by this time and told them that our tax bill was coming out of the ‘commission’ (cough) before anyone else got paid. The manufacturers in So. Dakota didn’t want to attract FBI ‘flies’ and just handed the total commission to us for dissemination to ‘interested parties’ including RBTS officers. Te deal was an annual roll over unsigned and all word of mouth only. The stupid Bruneians even shafted their own totally corrupt Royal Brunei Tech Services (the admin and paymasters. ) the deal went ahead and I ensured that the manufacturers were paid promptly and the ammo was shipped. Then the #4 (Royal Prince and the Sultan’s brother wanted in)as he controlled the RBTS. The Bruneians also wanted 50 cal sniper systems. The RBTS had about $70 million in isolated funds from crooked deals that had fallen over due to really stupid corruption. The Navy has ordered 3 Brit frigates and forgot that they needed support services and wharfs and workshops to maintain them. The seven 50 cal rifles plus support training ammo and spares came to about US$100k apiece. A nice round figure. I was wheeled into government offices in Brunei and told that RBTS would pay $77 million for $77,000 worth of rifles. They were going to change the $770,000. OO by erasing the stop between the dollar value and the .00 cents making it $77,000,000 million. The head of Bruneian Security a total girlie ‘fruit’ thought it was a great idea as did #4 the Prince. HOW did a strict Muslim administration have a girlie ‘fruit’ as their Chief of Security I’ll never know.

At this stage the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up on end as they offered me a 5% cut of $3.5 million no questions asked. I slipped out of Brunei ASP as I knew that I’d end up as crocodile fodder! Never want back to Brunei. EVER! The officers who’d shafted RBTS because they were corrupt greedy and stupid still wanted to roll over the ammo deal for the next year, even I discovered later that had all been promoted and were in no position to place orders anymore. They were pissed off that they had not yet been paid so we arranged that the RBTS should be included next time and another 1/3 deposit be placed in a First Tier US Bank under my lawyer’s control and I would pay them an initial $100k as a RBTS sweetener. The funds (theirs by the way) were deposited in the Royal bank of Brunei and these corrupt idiots burned US$ 100k in a fortnight of whoring and drunkardness in Singapore, and then went back to Mosque!

RBAF tried to get me back to Brunei to administrator the purchase of Italian O2 rebreathers but I did it at arms length. There was NO WAY I was ever going back to Brunei after that cluster f**k. I might as well brought a one way ticket as there was no return from that flight! I felt sorry for the Italian divers as they were on a fool’s errand. Bought them a meal in Auckland but refused to get on a plane to Brunei! I don’t like crocodiles!

Ever hear your dad refer to a fellow B26 driver named Leon Sinder? a 5’5″ tall Californian millionaire with an explosive temper but a good heart for all that? He arranged for the two of us to get into the holy of holies in BP oil London HQ in Trafalgar Square, to buy a shitload of Nigerian oil. Leon had made his pile trading in oil. It was akin to how I imagine getting into the White House. Leon all stroppy 5’5″ and me training along in his wake all 6’4″ of me. It all seemed quite surreal! Shell House Executive Suite was straight out of a James Bond movie! 🙂

In the end with Leon getting stroppier by the minute and me attempting to remain rational were offered a deal by BP. Buy on tic three months ahead at the offered price. If the price mirrored that 3 months out we made zip profit. If the price went down over the 12 weeks we had to pay the historic agreed price, and we made zip profit. If however the price went up however we paid the agreed price and we got to keep the differential on the sale of this oil at the market rate. This could be a million dollars per dollar of differential. That was serious money.

BP got to forward plan in a price smoothing exercise and Sinder and his ‘side-kick’ got to keep the dollar differential between the forward price and the market price 3 months out. Leon said he wanted to think about it first. I just about choked on my cup of tea. I tried everything I knew to get Leon to sign this agreement as for us there was no downside. We either made millions or we made zip and every three months we got to play again. Statistically we were going to win BIG eventually. For reasons known only to Leon he just refused to sign and play! He did take me to the Dorchester for a slap up lunch however and I reciprocated by dining with him at the ‘In & Out Club where my Officers’ Club membership got me inside, when I was passing through London. Just over the road from the Ritz. Leon never stayed in 5 star hotels as he found them pretentious and preferred a stock standard 3 star hotel. Sigh !

Yesterday, the US government tried to borrow $24 billion by selling a bunch of 30 year debt.

It was a huge disaster. In order to get enough people to buy, the rate had to dramatically increase. Even then, then primary dealers had to buy 25% of the debt. The primary dealer are the buyers of last resort who have to buy.

China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Russia … none of them are buying our debt. In fact, most are selling what they already have.

With few buying, the US government is borrowing more than ever. $1.5 trillion in the past 4 months and they announced another $1.5 trillion in the next 6 months. The US government will have to offer higher and higher rates to attracted lenders.

IMI in Tel Aviv would head stamp whatever you desired to fit in with your in country requirements. IMI were still staggering along as a semi-government semi independent company . It wasn’t very clever. IAI (Israeli Aerospace Industries) were a 100 % Commercial enterprise and uber-efficient and VERY switched on.
We hosted their Chief of missile production to visit the RNZN (Navy) to talk about mid range missile protection. She was an arrogant bitch but as a sweetener I asked her whether she wanted to visit NZ Rocket Labs to see their latest products. So a couple of Navy and two civilian wobbles from Defence headed for Parnell over the harbour. Peter Beck the (then 28 year old CEO) gave his usual brief that I had seen maybe 3-4 times already on occasion. The IMI Chief of rocketry started off bored but as the briefing she started moving forward in her chair and asking tech questions. She kept shaking her head and mumbling I can’t believe this and then following up with further tech questions. She was shocked to the core that a tiny outfit (at that stage of just 30 employees) was planning orbital projects. Then she attempted to sell Rocket Labs a first stage IAI booster. Peter Beck just smiled and told her that they already had some planning ingrain. What Pete didn’t tell the IAI rocket ‘bitch’ was that they had already designed and built prototypes of the Electron 2 1/2 stage system. Now Rocket Labs employs a couple of thousand have launched hundreds of satellites orbited the moon on behalf of NASA and are headed for Venus next year. They have already designed and built their next launch system called the Neutron a Medium weight system that will be man rated into LEO orbits. Their production is also migrating into one stop design and build satellites from Nanosats through to medium weight satellites.
Peter Beck never went to university and was self taught and did an apprenticeship in electronics for NZ Fisher & Paykle who make residential appliances.

New York Attorney General Seeks to Exclude Trump’s Expert Witnesses in Fraud Trial

New York Attorney General Letitia James’s office is seeking to exclude four expert witnesses former President Donald Trump plans to call on to testify in next week’s trial, arguing the judge has already ruled President Trump liable for fraud.

The state attorneys argue in a letter to New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron that their testimonies “are no longer relevant.”

At the center of the case are the Trump Organization statements of financial condition (SFC) prepared every year to give a summary of President Trump’s net worth and asset values. The attorney general’s office is arguing that these figures were inflated up to $2.2 billion a year total, and the judge has ruled in their favor in a pretrial summary judgment.

Defense attorneys are arguing that these figures, though they may differ from the attorney general’s calculations, are legitimate and not a result of fraud.
The four expert witnesses are Steven Laposa, Jason Flemmons, Steve Witkoff, and David Miller.
    ______

All of these experts are meant to contest the issue of valuation in the SFCs, but state attorneys pointed out that the judge has already resolved that claim by ruling that there was “clear, indisputable documentary evidence” proving President Trump “overvalued the assets reported in the SFCs” in the Sept. 26 summary judgement.

A bit more of the ongoing parry and thrust between myself and one of my Polish correspondents.

I’ll add this video of one of my favourite REAL journalists, Douglas Murray talking to Piers Morgan from inside a war zone. Morgan did his job reasonably well and asked the questions that needed asking. Obviously Douglas Murray had a good 30 -40 IQ points on Piers Morgan and had the moral clarity to express himself in a way that made his case perfectly clear. Try to dig out one of Murray’s interviews from the front line in Ukraine, from last year Joe. The world needs brave journalists who speak the truth clearly and without let. Rather than listening to what are quite pathetic excused for human beings, scrabbling in the mud for the baubles of fleeting power, in a corrupt and corrupting world, where political egos are the legal tender of the politicians with agendas. Try listening to a mere journalist showing moral clarity, shocking as that act is! Obviously Joe the standards you set for the political class generally need some serious tweeking.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoWViuG5VYs

The West is drowning in lies, and most egregious are the political lies. Followed closely by the lies of cowardice pushed by bureaucrats who restrain their forces because of their political cowardice. Think of the current moral swamp that the British polity has become at this very moment as we await the outpouring of hate that is about to explode in the streets of London on this Remembrance Day 2023. Where you may ask are the Police? They have been commanded by their cowardly bureaucratic leadership to hide away and cease to enforce law. No wonder there were FIVE suicides just last weekend alone amongst Los Angeles Police forces. Law and defence forces in the West have been betrayed by their so called ‘betters’ and leaders. These cowardly leaders know it, and more to the point the operational police and servicemen know it too.

Try to be a little bit more decerning Joe when you are touting the accolades of the political class globally.

    Impressive.
Morgan brought up most of the “popular” opinions of the war, and Murray unemotionally dismantled them with simple logic and examples. His proof that Hamas is nothing like the Nazis (because the Germans who committed the atrocities felt shame vs Hamas who display glee) is justification for Israeli retribution by itself. Murray’s assessment of the anti-Israel protesters’ mindset was excellent as well.

    @ Bunk Five Hawks X:
The old canard of ‘proportionality’ raised its ugly head yet again in the West. A concept that only seems to apply to Israel when it begins to win. Fatah lost the 2006 election in Gaza 41.5% to Hamas 44.5% back in 2006.Fatah was corrupt and pretty hopeless back in 2006 and Hamas swept into power winning mid 70s seats in the 132 seat assembly. Ten years later of low level civil war Fatah has been destroyed by Hamas who used the old shibboleth vote ONCE forever as there has not been elections for the past 17 years.

In a recent poll the Gaza’s support for Hamas was as high as 72% when it called for the physical destruction of ALL Israelis. Hamas leadership live in luxury in Qatar and currently the CIA and Mossad are negotiating with them for the release of the 200+ Israeli hostages. Negotiating with them! Instead of either assassinating them or capturing them to swap for innocent hostages. The other guilty party in the Gazan massacre in Israel has been the UN who knowingly allowed aid material to be supplied to Hamas, not to improve infrastructure buy to build concrete tunnels and strong points through Gaza, for the past 17 years.

The reality of Gaza involves two core beliefs amongst many. Proportionality and Ceasefires when Hamas is losing. In existential war like WWII, Proportionality doesn’t exist as total annihilation is the core driver of war. Ceasefire is just a sick code for ‘reload’ for the next round of endless war. The mantra ‘From the River to the Sea’ means the physical and total destruction of Jews everywhere to the last man, woman and child.

This existential war in progress, given the nuclear age we live in, means that if ever Israel loses just once it loses everything, forever. That means that the 200+ Israeli nukes will destroy the whole of the Middle East in a final Gotterdammerung
