NCAA Football week 11 2023 Vet’s Day OPEN

First of all, I hope all of my fellow veteran’s to have a good and enjoyable Veterans / Remembrance Day. I will be spending mine at G’ma and Papap Coldwarrior’s estate in the Northland. There will be plenty of college football, some beverages, and I brought some damn fine cigars to round out the day. The heaters are going strong in the garagemahal and the big screen is ready to go…soon is beer can chicken and some other surprises from the smoker after I go and raid the Amish grocery and the butcher.

SO, we were 2/3 last week! the ‘not win’ was a tie and Two Thumbs Vinnie wins the tie. Not too bad, back to $1300/$1000…outperforming the bond market.

3 Michigan @ 10 Penn State 12:00 PM…The line was 4.5 and then Coach Harbaugh got suspended for some quaint signal stealing that one of his unpaid staffers was up to. Does this rise to the level of Shenanigans? No. This does not rise to the level of the New England Patriots tapping all opposing teams communications and beating the spread at home for over 5 years straight. The line has moved to 4 at Happy Valley. I’ve seen the ‘big game’ there. My ears were ringing for days after. The only other times that I had this happen was at a Michigan game in the Big House and an AC/DC concert where I was a little too close to ground 0. It’s a shockingly LOUD environment. M is ready tho. They play in the BIG HOUSE (which is just as loud). The line has moved to M -4. This is a test for PSU, win this and they are back to elite status, lose, and well…also ran. I’ll take M to cover but will be rooting for the Nittany Lions.

13 Tennessee @ 14 Missouri 3:30 PM…The Vols…The Vols…they break my heart all the time. At the time that I reviewed this game, the Vols were 2 point favorites on the road. The home team usually gets 3, so the Vols aren’t really favored. Both teams are 7-2 and Mizzou is on the rebound. The Vols will break my heart again as I have them covering this spread on the road.

Miami @ 4 Florida State 3:30 PM…FSU is undefeated. These two teams HATE each other and have a very long history. FSU is a 14 point favorite and is at home. I’m gonna take FSU to take The Criminal Element to the woodshed and beat the spread.

9 Ole Miss @ 2 Georgia 7:00 PM…The Runnin Rebels were 10.5 point dogs at the time of game review. A big win today could put Georgia ahead of the #1 Ohio State Buckeyes in the playoff standings…The Bulldogs are #1 in the Coaches Poll and the AP poll. I think that the Bulldogs can cover this spread at home in Athens.

Look at this video. The NYPD is SHELTERING in Grand Central Station

Grand Central Station, New York : Pro-Palestinian protesters trying to breach the doors to reach police officers sheltering inside!

Do you realize that this is not about Israel anymore? It is about Jihad against Western civilization.

Posobiec is saying the Vatican originally asked Strickland to resign. He said nope. So they sent ‘investigators’ to look at the books and of course they questioned the book keeping.

But I’m already seeing some changes. 3 weeks ago I was warned that getting a gun even in the non-NYC areas of NY state was getting harder. Sure enough, the number of people getting “holds” placed on their shotgun purchases is way up. I noticed that most of the holds were on buyers with the most Jewish names.

    https://twitter.com/jakejakeny/status/1723347450688065995

Was at my local gun shop again yesterday. I’m not exaggerating when I say that there was a minyan of religious Jews inside within 20 minutes after the store opened. And I’ll say it again: Jews arming up like this is the effective end of the gun control movement in America.

Massive protests all over the world: not against Jews, not for Hamas, but against the monstrous humanitarian crisis Israel is causing in Gaza.

These protests have many Jews. Smearing these marches as “anti-Semitic” is what was done to anti-Iraq-war protests: “anti-American”.

“These 150,000 still secret 2020 unfolded mail ballots with the perfect ovals protected by court order for 3 years may have gone missing, and the county’s lawyers have just quit,”
    @Rasmussen_Poll
    posted on X.

“Fulton County poll manager Suzi Voyles was sorting through a large stack of mail-in ballots last November when she noticed something odd: several ballots marked for Joe Biden were extremely similar.

One after another, the votes contained perfectly filled ovals for Biden. What’s more, each of the bubbles boasted an identical white void inside them in the shape of a tiny crescent, indicating they’d been marked with toner ink instead of a pen or pencil, per the Epoch Times.

Voyles also noticed that all of the ballots were printed on different paper than the others she’d counted and none were folded or creased, which is standard for mail-in ballots as they come from envelopes.

“All of them were strangely pristine,” Voyles said. She noted that she’d never seen anything like it in her 20 years monitoring elections in Fulton County.

All but three of the 110 ballots in the stack – which had been labeled “State Farm Arena” – were marked for Biden and appeared to be “identical ballots.”

After Voyles came forward, she was fired as a poll manager by the Fulton County Department of Elections.”

The 2024 Grammy nominations are out:

    48. Best Contemporary Blues Album

For albums containing greater than 75% playing time of new vocal or instrumental contemporary blues recordings.

    Death Wish Blues
    Samantha Fish And Jesse Dayton

    Healing Time
    Ruthie Foster

    Live In London
    Christone “Kingfish” Ingram

    Blood Harmony
    Larkin Poe

    LaVette!
    Bettye LaVette

This is a tough one. I’ve seen Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton, Larkin Poe and Kingfish on their current tours, and they were all great. I think my favorite of the three albums is Blood Harmony, though. Megan and Rebecca’s second Grammy nomination in three years.

Hard to believe this song was written by a 13 year old girl whose native language isn’t English:

We’re the new generation, lost our salvation
    Another problem to be solved
    We’re the groundbreakers, honey
Living for the money, XXI century blood
Immortal souls dying, empires are falling
We’re just waiting to be crushed
Politicians trying, but we know they’re lying
    Every truth has been sold

Eh, eh yeah, eh eh eh eh yeah, eh yeah, eh eh eh eh

We make buildings, when what we need are bridges
    We’re stuck within these walls
Everyone with blank faces, trying to fill the blank spaces
That we left a long time ago
Hey, yeah! What will our future hold?
Will we regret our addiction to the rush?
Hey, yeah! We’ve always been crazy so let’s fly away
And roam through the world that is slowly burning in the flames

Eh, eh yeah, eh eh eh eh yeah, eh yeah, eh eh eh eh

Everyone’s in depression, because of an obsession
    With stereotypes around the world
Worldwide starvation but in this situation
No one seems to care at all
    Our communication, replaced by animation
    Television has control
    Every question answered

To put this all into perspective think about this. The $5 billion Tesla “Gigafactory” in Nevada is currently the world’s biggest battery manufacturing facility. Its total annual production could store three minutes’ worth of annual U.S. electricity demand.

California cleans up homeless camps in San Francisco just for Xi Jinping’s visit

On Wednesday, workers cleared out popular homeless hotspots, Jessie Alley, where those who stayed there watched crews throw their belongings into garbage trucks and hose down the streets.

One homeless man told the outlet that police requested that they stay away from the area while the conference was taking place. “The police just told me that there’s a major conference, that the president is coming, and asked if we could stay away for a week,” he said. “They took everything, my tent, my cell phone… I’ve got to start all over. I could have cursed them out, but it ain’t do me no good,” he said about being forced out.

Less than 48 hrs after the so-called Pope said trannies can be god parents

Most current bishops of the current ‘cowards of the county’ crop Churchmen would have folded but Strickland knew that he was on the side of light so he stuck to his guns and demanded that Frank sack him. There was no way that this soldier of the Church was going to sulk and sit in a corner. Like Pell before him Strickland took the path of the ‘white martyr’ ( being cruel persecuted ‘without all the blood’ for just doing the just thing).

What a great object lesson in personal bravery and a bit of pig-headedness to stand up and poke his head above the parapet and to tell the truth, because it was right thing to do. I know the Church Militant is supposed to pray for the ‘enlightenment’ of the Pope and a 180 degree turn-about in his wickedness … but it’s a hard call for mere laity wandering through the swamp that is the post Vatican II Church. I’ll just have to try harder it seems. How much longer Lord, how much longer?

One of the Biggest Meat Producers Is Investing in Insects
Tyson, a major U.S. producer of beef, pork, and chicken, is betting on insect protein next. The meat processor said on Tuesday that it has invested in Protix, a Netherlands-based insect ingredients maker. That facility will use animal waste to feed black soldier flies, which will then be turned into food for pets, poultry and fish. “One feature of being in the animal protein business is having to figure out … how to derive value from” waste, Tyson said.

Fortunately the levels of incompetence and stupidity of the political class precludes too much success of the covert plotting. The NZ Electoral Commission is run by incompetent morons who mostly couldn’t run a Bar-B-Que in an abattoir if someone provided the stakes! These are D grade public servants. they are only dangerous when they accidentally make major cock-ups and then FINALLY get sacked!

Alas that never happens as society is run by even greater incompetents who never sanction the ‘duffuss morons’ that run the Electoral Commission. Total incompetence is on occasion it’s own safeguard!

    Remember “food deserts”?

Now we have a new crisis:

How pharmacy deserts are putting the health of Black and Latino Americans at risk

Pharmacies were once abundant in the South Side of Chicago. Now, residents living in the majority Black neighborhood often find themselves with few options when it’s time to get a prescription refilled or stock up on cold medicine.

Ladell Johnson, a longtime resident of the South Side, drives half an hour from her house to the downtown area every time she needs to pick up her prescription. “Luckily, this pharmacy is close to where I work, but my house is half an hour away by car or one hour by bus,” she said. “If I didn’t have a car, I would have to walk 20 blocks one way to my closest pharmacy.”

As pharmacies shutter stores across the U.S., people in low-income and predominantly Black, Latino, and Indigenous neighborhoods are increasingly left in pharmacy deserts, without easy access to medications and other essentials. In November 2021, CVS announced that it would be closing 300 stores a year across the country in the next three years, and Rite Aid, which filed for bankruptcy in October, plans to close at least 150 stores in the next several months.

“Pharmacy deserts have been a longstanding issue that has gotten worse with recent closures of both independent and chain pharmacies,” said Dima Qato, an associate professor at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy, who studies disparities in geographic access to pharmacies and spent more than a decade working as a community pharmacist in Chicago. That lack of access can have major consequences for the health of people living in marginalized communities.

A 2021 study co-authored by Qato, published in Health Affairs, examined disparities in pharmacy access in major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Memphis. In Los Angeles, one-third of all Black and Latino neighborhoods were pharmacy deserts — meaning that the average distance to the nearest pharmacy was 1 mile or more. The biggest racial gap in pharmacy access was in Chicago, where only 1% of white neighborhoods were pharmacy deserts, compared to 33% of Black neighborhoods in the South Side.

Not one mention of why there’s such a lack of pharmacies in those areas, aside from a vague reference to “business conditions.”

From my perspective there is no ‘love lost’ between Hezbollah and Hamas, and simplistically I see Hezbollah sitting back and watching the Hamas attacks, as an opportunity to use Hamas a ‘cannon fodder’ , weakening the IDF materially, whilst keeping Hezbollah’s huge stock of Rockets locked down, until Hezbollah is ready to unleash ‘round 2’ of operations into Northern Israel. I must admit that I have serious qualms about the IDF getting bogged down in 3 dimensional urban warfare in Gaza City. So far the IDF have used their technology, intel and skills to manage their control of a complex urban battle-space. The fact that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard recently deployed into South Lebanon has remained largely uncommitted, except for their potential ‘Intelligence Preparation of the Battle Space’ operations on a conservative scale. This Combat Indicator suggests that Hezbollah may refrain from getting involved in a two front war with Israel and it looks increasingly as if Hezbollah is allowing Hamas do ‘all of the heavy lifting’ and most of the dying.

If and when the ‘second shoe falls’ when Hamas has exhausted their offensive capacity, and Israel is suffering from economic stress due to the ongoing engagement of its Reserve Forces, then Hezbollah may begin a Phase II offensive thrust into Northern Israel, backed by selected Iranian forces and surrogates.

Truces and combat pauses allow for enemy forces to respond yet again, once one’s enemy has recovered, reorganized and rearmed. Sooner or later Israel has to break this chain of ‘Forever Wars’ on its borders. The current outbreak in fighting by Hamas reflects in ‘peace accords growth’ breaking out in many Arab nations bordering Israel, especially the Saudis. I see Hamas being faced with being bypassed and isolated by the advancement of the so called ‘Peace Accords’ in the Middle East. It drove Hamas to commit to armed actions before it became increasingly irrelevant. Hezbollah on the other hand is a much more serious belligerent and a serious threat to Israeli security with the potential of overwhelming Israel’s layered shields of protection from Hezbollah / Iranian rocket assets. I think Iran and their proxies in Hezbollah are now playing the long game by allowing Hamas to be attritted to irrelevance, but equally weakening Israeli Defence and more to the point Economic capabilities in the short to medium term due to ongoing Reserve Forces deployment.

I was thinking over the past few days about the IBP forces and their internal organizational battles of the past 20 years, especially their use of part timers and Reserve Forces, and the part they play in stoking Palestinian antipathy, when a more nuanced approach to Low Intensity Operations is often more productive, when it comes to positive strategic outcomes.

I remember Maj. Dave White (a Brit and a member of the NZ Intelligence Corps (before it was gobbled up by the Brigade organizational structures.) Dave lived in Israel for 3 years while he completed his Master’s thesis with Warwick University (UK). His thoughts regarding the IBP and especially their Reservists and junior regular force members, made for serious concern. The ‘Low Intensity Warfare’ that they were engaged in required some deep thinking and nuanced management of young IBP assets. It seemed to me that these assets were in many cases ‘their own worst enemies’ and created more problem than they resolved. The evolution of the IBP, other than growing in size and organizational complexity, seemed to me to have not advanced philosophically very much at all.

If you have a comment on that, I’d appreciate your views Ezra.

Guest Column: God Here. Megan Rapinoe’s Career-Ending Injury Is Proof That I’m Real.

KINGDOM OF HEAVEN—Hey, folks. God here. I’m writing in response to recent comments from Megan Rapinoe, a human female best known for playing the so-called sport of soccer, or “Satan’s Folly” as we call it up here.

Rapinoe invoked my name on Saturday after injuring her Achilles tendon in the opening minutes of the National Women’s Soccer League Championship. It was the final game of her professional career.

“I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a God, like, this is proof that there isn’t,” Rapinoe told the demonic cretins you call journalists during the post-game press conference. “This is f—ed up. It’s just f—ed up. Six minutes in and I eat my Achilles.”

    LOL!

I knew this would happen, obviously, but that doesn’t make it any less hilarious. The last game of Rapinoe’s career—the league championship, no less—and she injures herself immediately then has to watch her team lose from the sidelines. I’m still laughing about it.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Yes, I technically “created” Rapinoe and “love” her the same as all my “children,” even the ones who deny my existence. Even the ones who worship Satan and play soccer, to the extent there is a difference.

Nevertheless, I think we can all agree Megan Rapinoe is an obnoxious shrew who had it coming. Right? I’m willing to forgive almost anything, but one thing I simply can’t abide is disrespect for my country, the United States of America. Just ask Gabe Kapler or Colin Kaepernick.

Did I take it too far? Maybe. When the U.S. women’s soccer team protested the National Anthem during the World Cup earlier this year, I made sure they were humiliated by Sweden, an inferior country. I engineered it so Rapinoe, playing in her final World Cup, would contribute to the loss by whiffing a penalty kick, one of the easiest shots ever invented in the history of sports.

“That’s like a sick joke,” Rapinoe said after the crushing defeat. It sure was. “Sick” as in awesome.

Perhaps I should have left it at that. I genuinely thought that was the end of Rapinoe’s career, and I was ready to move on. But that was before I had even heard of the National Women’s Soccer League. Maybe I just refused to believe it was real. Either way, I couldn’t resist the urge to rub it in by orchestrating a second final humiliation.

Sorry, Megan. What happened to you is proof I do exist.

    Good luck with the retirement.

I’ve been watching this for 3 days. I think the ‘net zero’ days are crashing. The oligarchs supporting it will panic and double down but the people on the front lines aren’t having it.

There are a few more things roiling the waters as far a the oceanic shipping industry is concerned that I thought were kind of interesting.

I’ve already covered the continuing Panama Canal issue, but that low water and reduced traffic is causing it’s own corollary inflationary issues. While the traffic snafu continues unabated…

…and the reduction in the number of ships being allowed to make the transit heads towards 18 by the end of February, some operators are taking extraordinary measures to ensure their cargo gets across the isthmus.

They are ponying up the cash, and not just the extra required to make the day’s cut – they’re buying a license to jump the line entirely. Liquid natural gas carriers are in a time crunch, and I had never before known they needed to be.

It turns out, if they sit around too long, their cargo boils off.

    https://hotair.com/tree-hugging-sister/2023/11/13/shipping-could-be-a-big-in-the-red-boat-n592243

Greek owner to sell all container ships, spend $3B on LNG tankers

There have been a number of “big picture” questions about shipping stocks through the years: Should companies be “pure plays” or diversify across multiple segments? Which is the best segment to own? Do master limited partnerships (MLPs) have a future as shipping equities? Are related-party deals with sponsors fair to individual investors?

All of these questions came together in a single multi-billion-dollar shipping transaction announced Monday morning.

Capital Product Partners (NASDAQ: CPLP), an owner of seven liquified natural gas carriers and 15 container ships, will pay $3.13 billion to buy 11 LNG carrier newbuildings from its private sponsor, Capital Maritime, controlled by Greek shipping magnate, politician and football-team owner Evangelos Marinakis.

CPLP will convert from an MLP to a corporation, change its name to Capital New Energy Carriers effective Dec. 31 (new ticker: CNEC), sell off its fleet of 15 container ships and become an LNG shipping pure play.

It’s a “complete makeover,” said Stifel analyst Ben Nolan. CPLP’s common units closed up 7% Monday in more than triple average trading volume on the news.

Another change for LNG shipping stocks
The transformed entity will be a leading player in the U.S.-listed LNG shipping space, which has undergone a major reshuffle in recent years as the Ukraine-Russia war lifted LNG shipping rates to record highs.

    @ eaglesoars:

Ah yes. And did I not see awhile ago that our DOD was looking at EV TANKS?

Not exactly. What they’re considering is a tank with a hybrid diesel/electric drivetrain, like a locomotive. It would be powered by electric motors, but they would get their electricity from a large diesel engine. It’s an interesting concept. The electric drive motors provide instant torque, which is what allows a train weighing many thousands of tons to move from a standing start. If the vehicle is stationary, the diesel generator provides all the electricity they could ever need to run computers, radios, etc.

Anyway, it’s just a concept at this point.

Alas the days in which we live are so outrageous that the man in the street finds reality impossible to understand as it is beyond rationality and experience of 95% of citizens. When the outrageous suddenly hits one between the eyes, it’s difficult to get one’s head around it and the first reaction is that this CAN’T be correct! As we’ve experienced over the past decade that reality can be so outrageous that simply “telling it like it is” is grounds for disbelief.

No Trump is not shooting himself in both feet, but he’s setting up a steep learning curve for the average Joe to discover just how crazy 2023 reality has degenerated into.

This is from a mining engineer I follow

Storing the energy equivalent of 1 barrel of oil, which weighs 300 pounds, requires 20,000 lbs. of Tesla batteries ($200,000 worth). It takes the energy equivalent of 100 barrels of oil to fabricate a quantity of batteries that can store the energy equivalent of 1 barrel of oil.

So we agree that LPG tech is well established and obviously works as advertised. Now riddle me this!
What was the NON story REALLY all about where shipping conglomerates are ditching LPG carriers for other shipping stock?

Obviously the excuse about serious downsides regarding LPG tankers is obviously ‘pure flannel’ that even a rank amateur could spot at 100 metres, what in hell is REALLY going on with these shippers? Why lie so bloody obviously in the first place? Corporates don’t make billion dollar decisions based on ‘flannel’ so what in the hell is afoot?

    We’ll see

Johnson: When I ran for Speaker, I promised to make accessible to the American people the 44,000 hours of video from Capitol Hill security taken on January 6, 2021. Truth and transparency are critical.

    2) Johnson: Today, we will begin immediately posting video on a public website and move as quickly as possible to add to the website nearly all of the footage, more than 40,000 hours.

    3) Johnson: In the meantime, a public viewing room will ensure that every citizen can view every minute of the videos uncensored.

    4) Johnson: This decision will provide millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day, rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials.

    5) Johnson: I commend Chairman Loudermilk and his team for their diligent work to ensure the thousands of hours of videos are promptly processed to be uploaded to the committee’s public website.

    6) Johnson: Processing will involve blurring the faces of private citizens on the yet unreleased tapes to avoid any persons from being targeted for retaliation of any kind and segregating an estimated 5% of the videos that may involve sensitive security information

In many ways, Fenton is like other small towns in Louisiana. But it is remarkable in one way: This village of 226 people collected more money in a single year through fines and forfeitures, primarily traffic tickets, than almost any other municipality in Louisiana, according to audits.

In the year ending in June 2022, Fenton brought in $1.3 million that way.

The fines were collected through what’s known as a “mayor’s court”.
