    @ Possum:
    An update to this.

We watched videos, Red Arrows, Car crashes and all the cat stuff then after 1200ml of Merlot which is 960 calories consisting of 32g carbohydrates since 2pm went into the kitchen and put my nice ceramic coated frying pan on the stove on high with a 1/4 oz coconut oil in it ready to stir fry expensive bean sprouts and some marinated in soy sauce and cooked sliced chicken.

Then hit the floor, not a vaso thing just a drunken got legs tangled. Couldn’t get up.

Mr Trash bin saved me and broke my fall. Fucking trash all over kitchen floor.

Had to get up as stove on high and with oil in skillet, otherwise I would have just gone to sleep.

Anyway, ate my chicken then went to bed. The maid will clean the kitchen next time she is due.

Old drunk people should not live alone.

AND I just saw the picture Bunk posted for this thread.

My frying pan is going to need her magic touch.

    @ Possum:
Scientific data. I log what I consume in 24hrs.

    I has a spreadsheet.

I am awake and perky at 5am posting here, a coffee would be nice.

Last 24hrs was 1265 calories of which 960 was alcohol and 305 food.

My confirmed through months of research Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR) is about 2300.

So! by using that data I conclude the reason I fell over was I did not consume enough calories.

Going to have to make sure I drink more wine today, calories.

    @ Possum:
And that is how you can manipulate data to give the result you require. Omit some vital information as to the calorie breakdown.

Mr Possum, you passed out in the kitchen because in the last 24hrs you only consumed half the calories your body needs per day.

As your doctor I recommend you increase your daily calorie intake.

That online consultation will be $150, thank you.

6:49 and Glen is home. So doing a count and two cats!

Now I can close the door, and we can all go do a sleep.

I said it before, this Crepuscular thing and way of life is difficult to adapt to as a human, but I do my best.

To save anyone time Googling Crepuscular it means active at dusk and dawn. Prime mouse hunting times!

As to humans it means letting cats out at 6pm and leaving door open until 6am. They go hunting mice from 6pm to 8pm, then take a nap somewhere until dawn, 6am until now.

We sleep until about 4pm so good night.

    This is us.

In zoology, a crepuscular animal is one that is active primarily during the twilight period,[1] being matutinal, vespertine/vespertinal, or both. This is distinguished from diurnal and nocturnal behavior, where an animal is active during the hours of daytime and of night, respectively. Some crepuscular animals may also be active by moonlight or during an overcast day. Matutinal animals are active only after dawn, and vespertine only before dusk.

    This is the FBI,

17 out of 20 terrorist plots thwarted by the FBI were actually planned, plotted, controlled, and executed by the FBI itself.

This is the same FBI that disrupted the official proceedings of J6 and then appointed 5,000 of its agents to investigate, persecute, and fabricate terrorism charges against American citizens.

“We are fools if we praise the government for exposing a plot of its own creation and saving us from a danger that never existed…”

Every single one of those agents should be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Starting with the criminal Merrick Garland,

And breakfast was, a packet of ramen noodles, shrimp flavour, squirted with siracha sauce cooked for 3 minutes with less water than recommended.

Then tossed into a hot skillet where an Italian sausage was de-skinned and cut into eight pieces was cooked and waiting for the noodles! A big spoonful of peanut butter was added.

Breakfast eaten, time for a nap.

As to peanut butter, it has to be the chunky kind.

British food is the BEST! I made a fusion Italian, Chinese and Thai breakfast.

The cat we rescued last spring is finally fixed. I was able to get her in my office early yesterday to start getting her used to our clowder. A bit of hissing and some swats by our FIV girl, but by late afternoon we were at detente.

I let her out with the rest of the mob, and there weren’t any problems. Put her back in the cage overnight and let her back out this morning.

It looks like she’ll be fine.

And the little snowshoe is fitting in well, too. We MIGHT have a home for him- Mrs RW talked to someone when she was getting her chemo that was looking for a 2nd cat.

Pete Hegseth just changed Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg–with a twist:

Defense Secretary Hegseth brings back Fort Bragg name, with a different namesake

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is bringing the name Bragg back to one of the Army’s largest bases, Fort Liberty, which replaced the namesake of a Confederate general in 2023.

But in a memorandum signed Monday, Hegseth instructed the Army to rename the North Carolina military installation in honor of a different Bragg: Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II veteran who was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for extraordinary bravery during the Battle of the Bulge, according to a statement from Pentagon press secretary John Ullyot.

“This change underscores the installation’s legacy of recognizing those who have demonstrated extraordinary service and sacrifice for the nation,” Ullyot said.

Before it was renamed Fort Liberty in 2023, the fort was named after Confederate Gen. Braxton Bragg, who drew criticism for his combative personality and poor field performance during the Civil War. A naming commission set up by Congress to study renaming bases noted Bragg is “considered one of the worst generals of the Civil War,” and was “widely disliked in the pre-Civil War U.S. Army and within the Confederate Army by peers and subordinates alike.”

The fort was among nine bases that the congressional commission proposed renaming during President Joe Biden’s presidency. Removing Confederate monikers from US military bases became a contentious political issue in the final months of Donald Trump’s first term. While Trump vetoed the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act that included the naming commission, Congress voted to override his veto with overwhelming bipartisan support.

The Department of Defense began implementing the naming commission’s recommendations in 2023. Changing the bases back to their former Confederate names would require congressional approval.

In other news – Harry and Meghan news

They’ve been at the Invictus Games in Vancouver. Meghan has been getting shit on because she’s shown up in about $12G of just new coats. WHICH INVICTUS PAYS FOR. Also, for all the fake lovey-dovey poses in the stands and her constant camera whoring.

In the meantime, Trump sez he won’t deport Harry because he’s got enough problems being married to Meghan. “She’s terrible”

Next thing you know, Meghan is leaving Vancouver. Cuz she misses the non-existent children

2 rumors going around: 1. She’s upset about the criticism over her clothes.
    2. Invictus kicked her ass out. They’re done with her.

Now Lady C spills the tea. During one of their common knock-down-drag-outs, Harry says You are as horrible as President Trump said you were. And with that, she was on a plane.

Schlicter’s take on the current legal shenigans

Here is a long take on the court injunction crisis, which is less crisis than an opportunity…

OK, stop panicking about all the stupid legal decisions from leftist judges that the left is getting from judge shopping in leftist jurisdictions.
    Stop. Panicking.
First, no one should be surprised by any of this. The administration certainly isn’t. We always knew exactly what they would do. Do not take the fact they are not screaming and yelling as them rolling over. They are not rolling over. There’s plenty going on behind the scenes as administration lawyers prepare their papers for the legal fight to come.
Second, since we have to have this fight, this is the time and the battleground to have it. Why? We want it settled right at the beginning of the administration so that we don’t have to deal with this down the road. And we want to fight on these orders because 1) they are manifestly the result of bad faith judge shopping and the opinions themselves are both procedural and 2) they are substantively ridiculous. They are legal jokes. Don’t listen to the dummy lawyers on Twitter – only listen to me or the people I tell you that you can rely on. Everyone telling you these are reasoned, valid legal decisions is either a legal illiterate or thinks you are stupid.
Third, the way this fight is happening is to our advantage. Wait, you ask, we’re getting decision after decision against us! How can that be good? Because they are leaving the Supreme Court no choice. People want Trump to sound off about this, but he doesn’t need to. What’s left unstated is the fact that he can just not obey these manifestly improper orders. They say it’s a constitutional crisis now, but that becomes a real one when they push Trump too far. He’s not going to submit forever to micromanagement of the executive branch by activist District Court judges in blue cities across America. And Chief Justice Roberts knows it.
CJ Roberts and majority of the court know these are ridiculous legally, and the last thing they want to do is stake the credibility of the Court – which famously has no divisions – on this kind of nonsense. They are not going to jump on the grenade that is these decisions. There might someday be a fight with a president about something where he is legally in the wrong, but this is not that time. This is not the hill the Supreme Court will die on. Wisely, Trump’s not adding fuel to the fire by threatening to do what it’s very clear he can do, which is disobey. This provides SCOTUS the cover it needs to deal with these upstart district courts without looking like Trump strong-armed it.
So relax and let the process go forward. We’re going to win on all these injunctions, and I expect fairly quickly

    Boring cat post.

Taking a break from watching TV shows so Natasha could watch helicopter crashes.

She sees things that us humans do not, it is interesting to watch where she is looking.

One sequence was of an helicopter going nuts and falling to the ground. Very dramatic but Natasha was fixated on something in the bottom right corner of the screen.

It was the reflection of the rotor blades in the windshield of a car.

Maybe the FAA should employ cats to do crash analysis as they see things humans miss.

Anyway, while I am being boring, she loved watching the black and white 1950s declassified films of molten salt reactors.

Fixated while laying on my chest and purring.

    Lunch update.

It would be chicken stew, carrots, onions, green peppers, chicken of course and a can of Campbell’s condensed chicken noodle soup. All placed in a slow cooker at 8am. Left to cook without stirring every half hour so as not to break up the veggies and turn it all into chicken mush.

But yet again as I live in a third world country no water here since 6am.

Do not worry, I had bottled water for coffee and plenty of other beverages in stock to stay hydrated. Merlot is a beverage!

Lunch could be devilled eggs, I boiled four a couple of days ago but checked my inventory and no fucking mayo.

However, I have fresh eggs, coconut oil and lemon juice and a cheap stick blender! Done it before to make emergency mayo.

A note from a culinary artist.

If you do make emergency mayo from coconut oil you cannot keep it in the fridge. Coconut oil sets solid, it is then probably the second hardest substance next to diamonds.

That is why store bought mayo is canola or some olive oil ( look at the labels, some mayo made with olive oil has that listed as the third or fourth ingredient )

However making coconut oil mayo is the dogs bollocks as long as you make a small batch. No refrigerating leftovers.

It depends on the demographics of the population.

I lived in the middle of nowhere in Iowa and they opened a huge super Walmart.

The shelves in the international section were stocked with all sorts of food I like. Especially Pataks Indian sauces. Made in the UK.

LOL nobody there ate curry except for me. After about six months it was all on sale at a stupid price like 20c per jar. Yep, I bought a lot!

Here lamb is non existent. No Greek population.

Goats and sheep taste the same, they look the same. There are short haired sheep and long haired goats.

However, some breeds of goat and sheep may look alike they are totally separate species.

Goats have 60 chromosomes, Sheep have 54.

It is important as a culinary expert to know this. The number of chromosomes in the meat you are cooking dictates the seasoning and cooking times required.

Not going to post a picture, use your imagination.

Today food delivery was of course parsnips and to get over the $35 minimum delivery threshold a ham was included. Cheap and versatile meat.

I get the boneless and non-sliced type. The pre-sliced ham limits the things you can use it for.

Boneless ham can be thin sliced for sandwiches, cut into chunks for soup or mac and cheese or sliced into 1/2 inch slices and fried for ham and eggs.

And remember! Cut your excess ham into big chunks, put the chunks into a quart ziplock then add a splash of chicken broth. Then put in the freezer.

No freezer burn in my home….

I’ve seen that before. I spent the better part of 5 years on the road, from 2004-2009. Hotels will often set their government rate at whatever the GSA publishes as the per diem rate for that city, even if they offer a lower rate to the public.

Government rate airline fares are usually higher than the standard fare, too, but there’s at least a good reason for that. It’s because they’re unrestricted tickets. There are no cancellation or change fees, and the fare stays the same regardless of when you book the ticket, even the same day as the flight. There are higher baggage allowances, too.

Anti-Nazi Group Vows To ‘Inflict Physical Damage’ On Teslas Starting Today

The group Students Against Nazi Extremists says it will damage Teslas in four California cities starting February 12

“Create enough shame to make it onerous for anyone to buy or operate a Tesla-branded vehicle.” That’s the mission statement of a group calling itself SANE for Students Against Nazi Extremists in California. How will they elicit such shame in their community? No, it’s not by telling owners how disappointed they are but resorting to violence, vowing to “inflict physical damage to Tesla-branded vehicles.” And according to them, it all begins today.

So how did Tesla, a company that makes electric cars, become the target of an anti-Nazi movement? According to SANE, it all comes down to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s political actions and public behavior. From supporting far-right groups in the USA and Germany itself to making gestures that some believe to be the Seig Heil he’s stirred up more than a bit of controversy. Now, the SANE group is ditching ideals like tolerance and love for bricks and damage. They call out Musk as “an overt Nazi with a history of fascist, racist, misogynist and criminal behavior.”

According to the Lost Coast Outpost , the group sent in a manifesto and took responsibility for leaving threats on at least 13 Teslas in California. The group, which allegedly has just ten members, plans to begin damaging cars on February 12 through the end of the month. In notes left on the cars in question, it demanded that the owners sell the cars by the 12th or face vandalism. It evidently didn’t have a plan for whoever the owner might sell the car to.

Election Security: Firings at CISA have begun.

At least 17 CISA (DHS) agents were placed on administrative leave. Ten of the agents were from the Field Operations Division which worked with state election officials. In my opinion based on research, these are the agents who were advising and directing state election officials behind the scenes. Initial reports indicate that the other 7 agents relieved served on the Election Security And Resilience Team. The Deep State influenced media is attempting to convince the public that these firings by the Trump Admin has jeopardized security. Based on research, it’s my assessment that this was absolutely necessary and will help mitigate Deep State interference in state elections. I suspect there will be more firings at CISA. News report below.

Canadian bill would send people to prison for saying anything favorable about oil, gas or coal

The bill so broadly defines “false advertising” that it could apply to any statement favorable to the oil and gas industry, including an “I Love Canadian Oil and Gas” bumper sticker. The bill would also criminalize statements of fact, such as suggesting that natural gas has fewer emissions than coal.

The bill would impose fines as high as $500,000 or two years in prison for anyone saying anything nice about the coal, oil and gas industry.

I wonder how much it cost to put on a show like that? Doing a “back of the envelope” calculation, they probably took in about $3 million in ticket sales over the three nights. And of course, they get a small portion of the merchandise sales (at least the official merchandise, which was vastly outnumbered by the unofficial merch sales in the parking lot–it was like walking through a flea market to get to the entrance).

Egypt Reportedly Plans To Fund Gaza Rebuild With Arab-Led Nations, Countering Trump’s Proposal

Egypt is reportedly working on a plan to fund and facilitate the rebuilding of Gaza within three to five years after President Donald Trump proposed that the U.S. take control of the war-torn territory.

According to multiple reports, Egypt’s proposal for the reconstruction of Gaza includes Arab-led nations, the European Union, and the United Nations — with no mention of cooperation with the U.S. government. Egypt’s reported plan comes as Trump has doubled down on his goal to relocate around two million Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab countries, allowing for the United States to “take over.”

The Wall Street Journal reported that Egypt’s plan includes keeping Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and setting up a “committee of technocrats drawn from across Gaza to administer the enclave.” Security for Gaza would be provided by Palestinians who are trained by Arab forces. The Egyptian proposal reportedly kicks the question of “Palestinian statehood” down the road and instead focuses entirely on the immediate reconstruction of Gaza.

“For the Arab world, recognizing that Trump actually means what he says in terms of Gaza means the necessity of coming up with an alternative to push forward,” Middle East security expert H.A. Hellyer told the Journal.

It’s almost as if that’s what he wanted them to do all along…

I would be quite content for there to be an arrangement like I advocated for two years ago. It ended up in a furball catfight in here because some people were anti-Russian. Russia bad.

We are brainwashed from decades of Cold War mentality.

The Eastern part of The Ukraine is Russian speaking, they want autonomy, not independence, not to become part of Russia.

Since 2014 the peoples of East Ukraine have been randomly shelled, bombed and oppressed. Russia finally stepped in to defend them. Russia does not want to invade and take over the whole of Ukraine.

I am surprised that NATO did not step up and step in prior to the Russian involvement. NATO should have gone into the Ukraine, bombed Kiev for 76 days and sent in a force to protect the Eastern Ukraine from oppression.

Where do I get these crazy ideas from? History.

If you are extremely bored here is some reading for you all. Now, when reading this mentally substitute Ukraine for Yugoslavia and Eastern Ukraine for Kosovo, or Kosova depending on whose side you are on.

NATO jumped in to keep the mudderfugers apart in what was essentially a civil war.

As to egg salad, I now have mayo and had to look up previous posts to see when the eggs were boiled and if they would be OK still.

Comment 63 on this thread says I have boiled eggs two days old and that was on the 12th, so doing basic math boiled them on the 10th and now it is the 14th so they are four days old.

According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), eggs should always be refrigerated at a temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit or below to ensure the best quality and safety. Whether they’re peeled or still in the shell, hard-boiled eggs that are stored properly in the fridge should be consumed within one week after cooking.

One day he came home from work and said “We’re leaving”. He wouldn’t tell her why only that he saw something at work, and to this day he’s never told her what he saw. At the time, they were letting Jews leave and their first stop was Israel. For some reason, that didn’t quite suit and they came to the U.S. and lived in the Maryland suburbs of DC. I was her boss. They live in Atlanta now and are doing well and still have family in Ukraine MAYBE and keep up. That Chutkin bitch again

    The ironies just keep coming.

Several states filed a lawsuit yesterday asking for a temporary restraining order against Elon Musk and DOGE.

Their argument? That Musk’s position violates the Appointments Clause–the same argument Trump’s lawyers made against the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith. (It resulted in the dismissal of the classified documents case in Florida.)

This lawsuit has been assigned to Judge Tanya Chutkan, who presided over Smith’s J6 indictment against the president.

She has scheduled an emergency hearing at 4pm today to hear the matter without giving the DOJ any time to respond in writing.

Important to remember Chutkan not only imposed a gag order on the president but was harshly rebuked by the Supreme Court over her hasty and unconstitutional immunity order. She allowed Jack Smith to pull every trick in the book until the last moment. She is undoubtedly chomping at the bit to get another swing at the president.

Carrier USS Harry S. Truman Hull Pierced in Collision, Heading to Port for Repairs

The hull of aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) was pierced above the waterline during a Wednesday collision with a merchant tanker just north of the entrance to the Suez Canal, USNI News has learned.

The bow of bulker MV Besiktas-M collided with the starboard quarter of Truman, leaving a small gash in the side of the carrier above the waterline and piercing the hull, according to two Navy officials.

Additionally, the Navy released a photo on Friday showing damage to a sponson to the rear of the starboard aircraft elevator that USNI News understands is in addition to damage to the ship further aft.

As of Friday, the aircraft carrier was underway in the Eastern Mediterranean and planning to pull into port so an inspection team can assess the repairs needed for the ship.

It’s unclear how long the repairs will take, but officials said the goal is to have Truman resume its deployment. The carrier and escort USS Jason Dunham (DDG-109) were operating in the Red Sea with the rest of the escorts assigned to the Truman Carrier Strike Group before traveling to the Eastern Mediterranean for a port visit at U.S. Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Greece.

    @ Possum:
If you have an oven that works the best ever stew and dumplings is made by slow cooking the stew in a slow cooker for hours then letting it cool.

Set an oven to 350F and grease a Pyrex dish.

Mix Bisquik with water, preferably water you added onion powder and herbs to and microwaved to boiling then let cool.

Plop blobs of the Bisquick mix onto the bottom of the dish, then pour over the cooled stew.

Place in oven, time is indeterminate, the blobs of Bisquick will rise and float them to the top of the dish. Coating themselves in stew juice on the way up.

    I LOVE British food.

In the good old days processors were comparative slugs to what is available today, but them computery things got the job done. Even though you had to submit a “job” and you got the result tomorrow.

As long as what data you input comes out the other end as a correct result then any high level language is OK.

Higher speed processors may do the accounting part faster but 99% of the CPU time is not doing math but generating fancy graphics and user interfaces.

To the uneducated sneaker-net is a term used before the Ethernet, WiFi, Routers and things were invented so you could transfer files.

Using sneaker-net you copied a file to a floppy, took it out of a computer, walked to another computer and inserted the disk to download the file. While walking between the two computers wearing, um, sneakers.

COBOL gets a raw deal. It forces organization on your code and once you’ve had to debug crap C/C++ code you’ll be ready to mandate it. I heard the same BS argument for years – GOTO command sucks. So I started asking “Are you telling me you don’t know how to organize your code?” It was just some phrase they thought made them sound smart

    216 | February 16, 2025 5:19 pm

If you ever programmed in assembler, that is really slow but you get 100% access to the hardware you kind of then create your own high level language to make a computer do what you desire.

You first have to write a routine that takes input, then a routine that outputs, then routines that read and write to storage.

    Now you are rocking!

Just then all you need to do is write in assembler something that calculates your tax return!

    Ain’t happening.

COBOL sits on top of the hardware and external devices.

I used to do the low level interface shit. They are called device drivers.

I must start playing with my toys again because streaming TV shows are all turning to shit. They become emotional trauma, who is shagging who and basically crap.

    A food and weather post.

Kind of like ” make hay while the sun shines post ”

Winter is stew weather. Just finishing up the last portion of a beef stew. Unfortunately local store was out of the green onions with big fat asses.

All ingredients in stock for an Italian sausage stew, I peel the skin off the sausages then cut them up into small 1/2in round baby meatball size, air fry at 400F for about 5 mins shaking them half way through. Yes I know, at only 5 mins my little balls will not reach 160F but the key is to always keep the food going in an upward direction temperature wise.

The sausage balls will be added to the slow cooker that is on high containing chunks of onion, green peppers, them little yellow potatoes halved and chicken stock. Balls air fried and added, grease and all, into vegetables when they reach at least 160F . Then the whole mess slow cooked for 8hrs or more. No fucking dumplings this time. The last attempt was nasty!

As to the weather, tomorrow 66/38, Wednesday 45/26, Thursday 48/32, Friday 42/37.

So, not only is gourmet cooking dependent on the accessibility of seasonal ingredients it is also dependent on the weather. This week is stew weather.

In August it will be ice cream and canned tuna!

In celebration of black history month I have been living without hot water for most of February and even on some days I have had no water at all.

These African Americans don’t know how good life is here.

( having spent a year living in Africa. Most “African Americans can’t even find Africa on a map )

Judge Rejects Request to Block DOGE From Accessing Government Data

A federal judge on Feb. 18 turned down a request from a group of state attorneys general to block the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing data at seven government agencies, finding the states had not met the bar for relief.
“The court is aware that DOGE’s unpredictable actions have resulted in considerable uncertainty and confusion for Plaintiffs and many of their agencies and residents,” U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan wrote in a 10-page decision. “But the ‘possibility’ that defendants may take actions that irreparably harm plaintiffs ‘is not enough.’”

New Mexico and other states had asked Chutkan to block DOGE and Elon Musk, a special government employee leading the DOGE efforts, from the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Commerce.

Both cats are inside, door and window closed.

Time for bed! We have to do a few minutes of Crazy Frog on phone once we all get into bed, then some car crashes.

About 3am we get to do the sleepy thing.
