All righty….10/14 So far and $1750/$1000 thus far. But like I said: “75% ROI in 2 weeks, easy right. NO!!! I never bet college (or any game) with real money. I’m not putting money on a bunch of 20 yo amateurs.”

Week #3

UTEP at Tennessee – Sat, Sep 15, 12:00 PM ET – UTEP is a 31 point dog at Rocky Top. UTEP has an excellent mining and explosives school. Yeah, that wont help. The Vols beat this spread and take out their frustrations on the Miners.

Georgia Tech at Pittsburgh – Sat, Sep 15, 12:30 PM ET – My beloved Panthers are 4 point dogs at home against the Yellow Jackets….4000 seats remain unsold at $5 a piece. At least at old Pitt stadium there was a great crowd and if they started to get blown out you could walk down to Zelda’s Greenhouse and get smashed on .25 drafts. I think Pitt can eat this spread, this will be a great test of team fortitude after the ass beating last week.

#12 LSU at #7 Auburn – Sat, Sep 15, 3:30 PM ET – Vegas is giving LSU 10. nope. They beat that spread on the road.

#17 Boise State at #24 Oklahoma State – Sat, Sep 15, 3:30 PM ET – This might be the game of the week, The smurfs are getting 1 point on the road at OSU. Brett Rypien is a name you will need to watch, this kid will play on Sunday and Boise beats the spread on the road.

SFA at Incarnate Word – Sat, Sep 15, 7:00 PM ET – There is no line for this game, nor should there be. You can’t bet against God, the Sisters of Charity would be VERY DISPLEASED. You wanna piss off a nun? Go ahead, I dare you.

#4 Ohio State at #15 TCU – Sat, Sep 15, 8:00 PM ET – The Buckeyes have to look good and win this game or it will come back to haunt them. TCU must win this game or no playoffs for them. TCU has to win, OSU has to win big. The line is 13 on average in he big Vegas houses. This is Urban Meyer’s last week of suspension for some bullshit…OSU is pissed off and will beat this spread, in Texas.

#22 USC at Texas – Sat, Sep 15, 8:00 PM ET – OH MAN! these two hate each other and have only played against each other twice, both games were great. The 2006 Rose Bowl is a classic. USC has a freshman QB, JT Daniels, this kid is the real deal. He’s still getting his legs under him and now he gets a start at Austin, in front of those rabid fans. THis is the big time JT, this is why you signed on with USC. Vegas has USC as a 3 point favorite, They beat this spread on the road.

#23 Arizona State at San Diego State – Sat, Sep 15, 10:30 PM ET – Herm Edwards has the Sun Devils at 2-0 with an upset, called by yours truly, last week against MSU. The Sun Devils are for real. They are 5 point favorites at SDSU and beat that spread.

I have 7 games here and am betting $100 each.

Enjoy your Saturday

let’s follow the reaction and coverage of the press and the politicians to Hurricane Florence and compare it with that of Hurricane Katrina.

New Orleans is “Chocolate City” -Mayor Nagan’s Words, and heavily Democrat.

NC and SC coastal areas are golf clubs and republican white bread. OF course, the press wont give a whit about the inland rural poor in the low-country/piedmont as they are conservative (black and white).

My ever inflated ego would love to believe everyone had the date marked on their calendar for this column’s return. My stronger grip on reality takes the “oh please, not HER again approach.

I wanted to include her photo in her very fetching Saints beanie but alas the picture was too large

Of course, one advantage is I get to proudly post my Meemaw photo of our newest little sports fan – my little Noodle, Davina. She has gear for every game – Cal, San Jose State (her Auntie Ashleigh goes there), the Saints and the Raiders. On a good weekend, we’ll need to change her clothes several times.

It’ll be interesting to watch nastiness, dirty plays and antagonism for a change that doesn’t involve a SCOTUS nominee.

So onward…..random thoughts for the new season:

Flyboy and I decided we’d give the league another chance this year.  We’ll see if the networks stick to their guns and don’t give these asshat players a spotlight for their anthem antics.  I say broadcast the anthem, networks – there will be at least ONE fine military man or woman or police officer at attention and saluting that you can focus on.  Or the crowd signing (because they do – off-key and badly in many cases, but with all the pride in their country they can muster).

Nike is doubling down and broadcasting the Krapperdick “sacrifice” ad during the game.  I see vacant chairs, beers being pulled from refrigerators, channels being switched momentarily.  Lot of money to put out for a commercial no one’s going to watch, Nike.  Well, that’s not true.  I’ll watch if the “Krapperdick sacrifice” has something to do with a rotisserie and an open spit.  Nike’s new slogan?  Just D0-fuss.

Oh, and Krapperdick’s kneeling partner in crime, Eric Reid, safety for the 49ers, was also given his release in May and as of yet is still unemployed.  And I couldn’t be happier.  He can watch the games at Krapper’s house while all the rest of their little friends are out playing.

So here it is – at my house, the buzz is how the Raiders will do under Gruden and the loss of Kahlil Mack.  Also, we ask ourselves = will the Saints repeat their fantastic season of 2009?  My answer to that is no — hell can only freeze over once….

So I hope the beer is cold, the wings are spicy and the chips and dips are ready, because HERE WE GO……

In the MLB, here’s what the Boys of Summer are up to (now that football has hit the airwaves, your best bet to catch will be ESPN (ugh!) or your local station not carrying the football game.  Of course you could buy one of those TV packages):

In the PGA, the BMW Championship from Newtown Square PA (CW – your backyard?) had some pretty impressive play by Tiger Woods in the opening round.  Interesting that Tiger leaves the game after a major scandal, eats several humble pies, and returns after rest and recuperation.  And the result?  He’s brought back the crowds to the lesser tournaments.  Sure, you see huge galleries at the Masters, the U.S. Open, the Players and the PGA Championship, but when you get that sized gallery at the Bridgestone, it’s a feat.  Also full props to Tiger for not taking the bait and the opportunity to trash Trump last week.  American sports fans do love to embrace their errant kids.  (Uh, not to fast, Krapperdick – I said “errant kids” – not juvenile delinquents – you can go sit over there with Michael Vick).
