More On Common Core, And Quite Frankly, All You Would Ever Need To Know

The reason why I suggest that this is all you’d ever really need to know about Common Core has less to do here with what it’s all about, or what it’s really about, or what each side says about the other’s arguments or facts or what have you, than who it is that is speaking out in this particular video. During the entire Common Core creation and implementation, there had only ever been the involvement at any level, two actual experts in education within their respective fields of subject matter. One was Dr. Sandra Stotsky, the other was Dr. James Milgram. Their input was not sought until the validation phase, meaning that not one single expert in the field of Language Arts Education nor Math Education was a participant during the creation phase of this monster.

The involvement of Stotsky and Milgram during the validation phase was little more than a ruse, designed specifically to trick Americans into believing that the goal of Common Core was improved educational standards in our school system. Remember that Stotsky and Milgram were the only two experts ever tapped, and they served on a committee along with 28 others, all of whom were politicos. In the end, both Stotsky and Milgram refused to sign off on the program, and have since been traveling the fruited plains warning American parents about the whole thing. This video is their testimony to the Alaskan Legislature, taken during a hearing on common Core and that state’s adoption of it.

Some of the more striking details you’ll notice will include the fact that the members of the Validation Committee, basically a built in watch dog group, were forced to sign confidentiality agreements promising not to disclose any of the committees workings. The language arts standards deemphasized literature, and substituted informational texts. So, instead of reading Charles Dickens, our kids will be reading Barack Obama’s Executive Orders. Tracts on Global Warming, Sustainability, and Keynesian Economic Theory will replace Edgar Allen Poe, Walt Whitman, and Mark Twain. Our public, and by the way private schools are being turned into Marxist indoctrination centers, and not one single citizen in our great nation voted on anything that said, “yes we should do this.”

Perhaps the most disturbing thing about the whole Common Core infliction, is the small fact that it represents the entire educational system of the United States being federalized, and then offered as a gift to a few large corporations. This is crony capitalism at its worst. People of the left like to bandy about the charge of Fascism to describe any from the political right with whom they disagree, and this literally is the very definition of a Fascistic endeavor.

By the end of the eighth grade, students in common core aligned class rooms will be a full two years behind those who were not subjected to this foolishness. The scary part of that statement is that according to Dr. Milgram, the real damage occurs in high school. According to Dr. Pesta’s conversation from yesterday on Common Core, our high school students will all be graduating with the exact same skills and completed course work in mathematics. According to Dr. Milgram’s testimony, that level will be Algebra II, and no further. Only 33% of students who’s highest level of math achievement is Algebra II will achieve a four year degree in any subject, virtually none of those students will be capable of achieving degrees necessitating higher mathematics study. Now, here’s the real question, how is lowering the bar from successful completion of a primary Calculus course to Algebra II as the high water mark an improvement in math standards? This literally comes straight out of a novel written by George Orwell.

An eagle, a fox and my cat all getting along fine on my porch

Published on Mar 25, 2012 by pla1554alaska

First of all just let me explain the hot water heater! My hot water heater leaked and flooded my kitchen and so I just went through getting it replaced. We have had so much snow (it’s melting now) that it was too hard to carry it through all the snow to get to the landfill so it and other building materials are hanging out on my porch until more snow is gone. See how the fox, eagle and cat are all just fine hanging out and no one is trying to attack anyone and they are getting along just fine? Notice the eagle in the background on the lamp post down by the street. That is the partner to this eagle. They aren’t always out to attack and kill each other. Our fox and eagles and cats basically get along just fine here. Sometimes if there is food they might fight over the food some. I live in Unalaska, Alaska in the Aleutian Islands. Also, earlier in the day when the fox first came Gizmo my cat went right up to the fox and told him to leave. It was too funny! But the fox came right back!

March 27, 2012 Todd the Fox Wants To Come in the House

Published on Sep 13, 2012 by pla1554alaska

Going thru my videos I found this one that I had taken after my eagle, fox and cat video was posted and someone had named the fox Todd by then. I am putting this video on for all the people who love Todd the fox. Some more video of him. He so wants to come in the house and eat cat food with the cats! LOL By the way, George freaked out when I closed the door and he had to go right back out. He was OK coming in the house but not if the door gets closed.

An Eagle Slaps My Cat

Uploaded by pla1554alaska on Sep 22, 2010

It was Thanksgiving morning and I noticed about 20 eagles fighting over some slab of food. This eagle won the fight and went on the hill next to my house to eat his food. Next thing I know 2 of my cats are up on the hill checking out this eagle. I tried to call them in the house but they wouldn’t listen to me. I wasn’t too worried about the eagle attacking the cats because that eagle was too into that slab of food. So I got out my video camera and took this video. When Suitcase got so close that eagle could have tore Suitcase up but instead just gave him a slap with his wing. The eagles here are not really aggressive to the cats here.

Soon to be ex-Sen. Murkowski warns Alaska TV stations not to air Tea Party ads

Like many spoiled little children, they don’t take well to being told “NO!”. Soon to be ex-Senator Lisa Murkowski (RINO-Alaska), is much like those spoiled little children, albeit a 53 year old one.

Memo to Murkowski: YOU LOST! Now get over it, and get out of the way!

She seems to think, like most elitist RINO’s, that she’s entitled to the Senate seat she inherited from Daddy Murkowski back in 2002 (when he became Governor), even if the voters of Alaska beg to differ.

Yes, she was re-elected and won the seat in 2004 on, ahem, “her own” (there was no riding Daddy’s coattails, so don’t even think that!).

But lo and behold, it seems that after six years of doing what was best for her, rather than for the people of Alaska, who, you know, elected her, the GOP voters decided to “throw the bum out”, so to speak.

Only problem with that is when “the bum” is a spoiled little child who throws a temper tantrum and refuses to be a good loser, do what’s best for the GOP and the citizens of Alaska, take the defeat as being the will of the people, congratulate the victor, and help get him elected in four weeks.

Of course, this type of civilized behavior is obviously not a part of Murkowski’s core values. Her preferred method is to attempt to bully her way to getting back what she obviously believes she’s rightfully entitled to.

Murkowski actually had one of her ambulance-chasing lawyers send a letter to local TV stations, warning them that they should not run ads from Tea Party groups who support the people’s choice for Senate, Joe Miller, saying they are under a “legal and moral obligation” not to air the new ads from Tea Party Express, which is supporting Miller, the political upstart who defeated Murkowski in the August GOP primary.

I guess to bitter losers like Lisa Murkowski, freedom of speech only applies if you like what’s being said. There’s another group of losers in America that feel the same way. They’re called LIBERALS. Don’t go away mad Lisa, just go away. Become a Dimocrat, since you act and think like one.

Sen. Murkowski Asks Alaska Stations Not to Air Tea Party Ads

JUNEAU, Alaska — U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s campaign is warning Alaska broadcasters not to air ads by a national tea party group that the campaign says are “littered with lies and intentional mischaracterizations” about her and her write-in campaign.

Attorney
Timothy McKeever, in a letter to broadcasters Monday, said they are under a “legal and moral obligation” not to air the new ads from Tea Party Express, which is supporting Joe Miller, the political upstart who defeated Murkowski in the August GOP primary.

A Tea Party Express spokesman said his initial reaction is that the group stands behind the ads.

At issue is an ad the group unveiled Monday, entitled “Arrogant Lisa Murkowski — You Lost!” It seeks to paint Murkowski as more interested in political self-preservation than in serving the interests of Alaskans. It also claims she didn’t “earn” her Senate seat and that she “tried to manipulate the Libertarian party into giving her their slot” on the ballot — claims McKeever called “materially false.”

Murkowski was appointed to the seat her father held when he became governor in 2002; she won it in her own right in 2004.

Obama and Biden Voted for ‘Bridge to Nowhere’

Now that the Democrats are rabidly attacking Sarah Palin over the Alaskan Ketchikan bridge, claiming she lied about shutting down the project, it might be a good moment to point out that both Barack Obama and Joe Biden voted for the Bridge to Nowhere.

Now that Alaska is front and center in the news again, it is a good time to catch up on a favorite story, The Bridge to Nowhere, using the Washington Post US Congress Votes Database.

Though Gov. Palin originally supported the earmark spending on the Ketchikan bridge (“to nowhere), she eventually killed the project, chosing to spend Federal money on other infrasturcture programs.

However, Sen. Biden and Sen. Obama voted for funding the Bridge, even when given a second chance by Sen. Tom Coburn, who proposed shifting earmark funds to Katrina relief.
