SPLC aiding in Armenian Genocide Whitewash

This is another example of what a greedy immoral corporation the Southern Poverty Law Center has become. This story is a little complicated, but let me reduce it to the basics.

1. One professor Guenter Lewy, at University of Massachusetts at Amherst, wrote some Armenian genocide apologetics.

2. The SPLC, in one of its typical knee-jerk reactions, accused Lewy of being on the payroll of the government of Turkey.

3. Lewy sued for defamation. SPLC, basically a law firm, got caught with its pants down, because they simply assumed that Lewy was on the Turkish government’s payroll without checking (sound familiar?).

4. SPLC settled out of court. As part of the settlement, they went a bridge too far, and not only disclaimed that Lewy was getting any Turkish money, but also implied that the Armenian genocide wasn’t a deliberate genocide, but an accident.

Here’s the SPLC retraction:

Retraction and Apology
In the summer 2008 issue of its Intelligence Report, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported that Guenter Lewy, a professor emeritus at the University of Massachusetts, was part of a network of persons, financed by the Government of Turkey, who dispute that the tragic events of World War I constituted an Armenian genocide. We now realize that we misunderstood Professor Lewy’s scholarship, were wrong to assert that he was part of a network financed by the Turkish Government, and were wrong to assume that any scholar who challenges the Armenian genocide narrative necessarily has been financially compromised by the Government of Turkey. We hereby retract the assertion that Professor Lewy was or is on the Government of Turkey’s payroll.

To our knowledge, Professor Lewy has never sought to deny or minimize the deaths of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey; nor has he sought to minimize the Ottoman regime’s grievous wartime miscalculations or indifference to human misery in a conflict earmarked by widespread civilian suffering on all sides. What he has argued in his book, The Armenian Massacres in Ottoman Turkey: A Disputed Genocide, and elsewhere is that the present historical record does not substantiate a premeditated plan by the Ottoman regime to destroy because of ethnicity, religion, or nationality, as opposed to deport for political-military reasons, the Armenian population. In this view, he is joined by such distinguished scholars as Professor Bernard Lewis of Princeton University. As additional troves of archival information come to light, Professor Lewy advocates greater study of this contentious subject.

We deeply regret our errors and offer our sincerest apologies to Professor Lewy.

Professor Lewy adds the following comment:

“The SPLC has made important contributions to the rule of law and the struggle against bigotry. Thus I took no pleasure in commencing legal action against it. But the stakes, both for my reputation as a scholar and for the free and unhindered discussion of controversial topics, were compelling. It must be possible to defend views that contradict conventional wisdom without being called the agent of a foreign government.”

I’m not the least bit surprised that SPLC made this deal with the devil. They’ve been making deals with him for decades. But there it is. I have no doubt that they’d deny the Nazi Holocaust if it would get their asses out of a jam.

And of course, the genocide denier Lewy returns the favor by tossing the SPLC’s salad. It doesn’t get much sicker than this.

Wikileaks shows Turkey’s true genocidal Islamic colors

Turkey is a nation born in genocide. After the battle of Manzikert in 1071 AD, Turkmen tribes from Central Asia began to settle in mostly Greek and Armenian Anatolia. The Turks killed the Greek and Armenian men and married the Armenian and Greek women. The off-spring were raised as Turkish Muslims. Many Greeks and Armenians converted to Islam and adopted Turkish as a language to avoid this fate. It was out of this cultural and human genocide that the Ottoman Turkish Empire would arise and go on and commit genocide in the Balkans against Bulgarians, Serbs, Greeks and Croatians. They took the first born boy of Christian families and raised them as fanatical Ghazis (Jihadists) to commit genocide. After a series of defeats at the hands of the Spanish, Austrians, Polish and Russians, Turkey became a washed up power called the sick man of Europe.

After its defeat in WWI, where they killed 2 million Armenians, Ataturk attempted to secularize the nation, but it was only cosmetic and imposed by its military. Even the secular military still had the genocidal Turkish Ghazi mindset as exemplified by its invasion and ethnic cleansing of Northern Cyprus. Underneath the Muslim Brotherhood gained recruits and eventually the AKP party was formed. Since rising to power in 2002, They have shown Turkey’s true Islamic nature and they seek to make Turks the vanguard of Islamic Jihad. The wikileaks show that American diplomats don’t trust the Neo-Ghazi regime of PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his genocidal Islamic cohorts.

The US is concerned about its NATO ally Turkey. Embassy dispatches portray Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a power-hungry Islamist surrounded by corrupt and incompetent ministers. Washington no longer believes that the country will ever join the European Union

[….]

US diplomats have sent thousands of reports from Ankara to Washington in the past 31 years. Recent documents, though, are merciless. They convey an image of Turkey which is at odds with almost everything the US government has officially said about the country.

First and foremost, the US distrusts Erdogan. A dispatch dated May 2005 says that he has never had a realistic worldview.Erdogan, the document says, thinks he was chosen by God to lead Turkey and likes to present himself as the “Tribune of Anatolia.”

[…..]

Many high-ranking state officials have told the Americans they are appalled by Erdogan’s staff. Erdogan, one such official told US diplomats, appointed a man exhibiting “incompetence, prejudices and ignorance” as his undersecretary. Another informant told the US that Women’s Minister Nimet Çubukçu, an advocate of criminalizing adultery, got her job because she is a friend Erdogan’s wife, Emine. Another minister is accused of nepotism, links to heroin smuggling and a predeliction for underage girls.

[……]

Some AKP politicians, according to a US assessment, support Turkish membership in the EU for “murky” and “muddled” reasons, for example because they believe Turkey must spread Islam in Europe. A US dispatch from late 2004 reports that a member of a leading AKP think tank said that Turkey’s role is “to take back Andalusia and avenge the defeat at the siege of Vienna in 1683.”

Turkey is a filthy, murderous nation that America should have nothing to do with. The Cold War is over, so Turkey’s usefulness is gone. Our policy of trying to get the European Union to let Turkey join is misguided and we should be pushing for the dissolution of the EU, but that’s a different story. Turkey has contributed nothing but misery, genocide and conflict to humanity. It was a nation born in genocide and it’s part of their character. Turkey is an enemy of America and it should be treated that way.

One myth I will debunk, the Turks never introduced tobacco to Europe, it was the Spanish since tobacco was a product of the Americas. This is a lie that was spread just like the lie the Ottomans were tolerant to make the genocidal savages look good.

Update: The Turks are now blaming Israel for wikileaks!

Blogmocracy in action!
Guest post by: Et Norsk Troll

Here is a *perfect* example of why I no longer listen to any speeches that President Obama gives (He doesn’t tell the truth):

Obama on the “Importance of US-Arrmenian Relations”

The money quote:

As a senator, I strongly support passage of the Armenian Genocide Resolution (H.Res.106 and S.Res.106), and as President I will recognize the Armenian Genocide.” –January 19th, 2008)

Compare the above quote with this statement that I found today:

Obama against Armenian ‘genocide’ bill
The money quote:

Obama against Armenian ‘genocide’ bill” –March 6th, 2010

Why bother listening to this person? Why should I waste my precious time and resources listening to someone who so easy lies?

Better to turn off the TV, Radio or whatever and go read a good book or something.

Thoughts? Comments?

Turkey recalls Ambassador after US vote on Armenia ‘genocide’

In days long numbered with the past, my college Political Science professor referred me to a historical novel based on a true incident  called “The Forty Days of  Musa Dagh” by Franz Werfel. The book detailed the defense of Mount Moses by the Armenians facing deportation and genocide by the Ottoman Empire. As Turkey moves more and more into the Islamist camp – we should be reminded that the first 20th century genocide was against Armenia. Adolf Hitler was reported to have said to his Nazi acolytes regarding the coming extermination of the Jews “Who remembers the Armenians?”  Remember that the next time the Turks start bellyaching about the Palestinians.

Side note  – Armenia was the first nation to ever convert to Christianity.

by Giles Whittell

One of the worst massacres of the 20th-century came back to haunt international politics yesterday when a powerful Washington panel voted to call the murder of about 1.5 million Armenians in Turkey “genocide”.

After more than three hours of debate, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs narrowly approved a resolution calling on President Obama to “characterise the systematic and deliberate annihilation of 1.5 million Armenians as genocide”.

The vote went ahead despite last-minute pleas from the White House and State Department and triggered a furious reaction from Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish Prime Minister.

“We condemn this resolution, which accuses the Turkish nation of a crime it did not committ,” he said. As Armenian observers applauded the vote on Capitol Hill, the Turkish Ambassador to Washington was recalled.

[…]

The vote, with 23 congressmen in favour and 22 against, will also jeopardise historic efforts begun last year to create normal diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia.

“We are seriously concerned that this resolution approved by the committee despite all our warnings will harm Turkey-US ties and efforts to nomalise Turkey-Armenia relations,” Mr Erdogan added.

Mr Obama promised as a candidate to break with longstanding US practice and start calling the First World War era killings genocide if elected to the White House. He broke the promise last year, refusing to use the word on a visit to Ankara, where he praised Turkey as a model Muslim democracy.
