“There Are Only Muslims and Communists”

Our Czech correspondent Gemini sends his translation of sections from two articles in the Czech media. These stories concern a plain-spoken Czech politician whose candor is refreshing, to say the least, for those of us who live to the west of the old Iron Curtain.

Below is Gemini’s introduction:

Islam is the enemy, the Czech presidential candidate reminded the world

In recent days the Czech mainstream media have brought to light statements from Miloš Zeman, a prominent leftist politician, regarding Islam. This former prime minister of the Czech Republic (1998 – 2002), also at one time a presidential candidate, is well-known for his open statements and uncompromising humour. Most of these statements were taken from his report presented at the international conference entitled “Europe united and free?”, held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and country’s Defence Ministry. The rest come from a subsequent press release. These statements have already led to charges against the aforementioned politician.

The original sources, including a few more short commentaries, may be found here and here, while this article concentrates mostly on Zeman’s statements.

His condensed translation:

“NATO has declared itself as a defensive alliance without questioning what is it defending against. But it all begins with defining the enemy,” Zeman stated. He then continued: “The enemy is the anti-civilization spreading from northern Africa all the way to Indonesia. Inhabited by two billions of people and financed partly by gasoline sales, partly by drug sales,” speaking about the world of Muslims.

With his mention of drugs, he was mostly referring to Afghanistan and Kosovo. With the former NATO became mired in an endless war, while the latter got help from the alliance to secede from Serbia. This involvement he regards as a failure.

“I don’t believe there are Muslims and radical Muslims. Just as I don’t believe there are moderate and radical communists. There are only Muslims and communists,” Zeman addressed the conference participants.

He believes that one of the mistakes the West has been making is its willingness to negotiate and its responsiveness towards Muslim countries.

“Just remember the appeasement politics during the ‘30s. The victims were thrown directly into enemy’s guts, and (see) where it ended. The 21st century is not going to be Fukuyama’s ‘End of History’, but Huntington’s ‘Clash of Civilizations’,” predicted the retired Zeman.

If NATO should expand in the future, it must be Israel that is adopted, according to Zeman. “Not the state whose president regards Stalin and Beria his main heroes,” he declared, referring to Georgia as governed by Mikhail Saakashvili. However, this could not be so easily done without changing the political climate in the NATO countries. And this is exactly what the politicians are afraid of, Zeman believes.

Nor was the EU spared. “The EU reminds me of an overweight kid who is starting to throw up,” summed up Zeman about the union of states, some of which have already asked for huge financial support.

“Even if one might agree that women should not be allowed to drive a car, in every other aspect the Islamic anti-civilisation makes women into a subjugated and second-class minority,” he added in a separate press release.

“There is no doubt that Islam’s ideological basis is the Koran. A Muslim can be identified as an adherent of Koran, just as Nazi is an adherent of racial supremacy and anti-Semitism, or a Communist an adherent of class struggle and proletarian dictatorship,” he further elaborated in his press release.

“Islam is incomparably more aggressive and intolerant that today’s Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism, Shintoism and other world religions,” added the former presidential candidate, referring to Koran.

Prague Daily Monitor: Former Czech PM sued over statements on Islam

8 July 2011

Prague, July 7 (ČTK) – Retired politician Milos Zeman, Czech prime minister in 1998-2002, faces a criminal complaint over the statements on Islam he made in June at an international conference on Europe.

“The enemy is the anti-civilisation spreading from North Africa to Indonesia. Two billion people live in it and it is financed partly from oil sales and partly from drug sales,” Czech news servers quoted Zeman as saying about Islam at the recent conference.

Zeman said Thursday Muslims believe in the Koran like Nazis believed in racial supremacy and anti-semitism and communists in class struggle and dictatorship of the proletariat.

He said Islam is far more aggressive and intolerant than present Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism and other world religions.

He added that the Koran includes passages calling for the subjugation, enslavement and even elimination of non-believers.

Note from our very own Smokefire before we start this post:
Moosup VJ Day Parade
This Sunday, in the small northeastern Connecticut hamlet of Moosup, (a section of the town of Plainfield) The American Legion Post # 91 will sponsor it’s 49th annual VJ Day parade. The parade, starting in 1961, is thought to be the only one of it’s kind in America. Even in this age of political correctness, diversity, revisionist history, and misplaced guilt over our actions in WWII, hundreds of marchers, and thousands of spectators, young and old, still come from the tri-state area to attend, and celebrate this event. Veterans of WWII, living in the area, and beyond, attend the event, discussing their time, and actions in the war. One of the organizers of the parade, Phil Bohara, 89, who served in the Pacific theater, has been to all but 2 of the parades, according to published report. It is ironic that President Obama is sending our first delegation to Hiroshima, to commemorate the atomic bomb attacks, which ended the war, started by Japan. Meanwhile, this Sunday, the Patriotic residents, and visitors to Moosup will celebrate, our victory over Japan. While Japanese children are taught a revisionist narrative of WWII, it is nice to know, that in the politically correct environment of Connecticut, some kids are allowed to participate in a TRUE rememberance of what their fellow Americans did to save the world. The start of the parade is at 1:01 p.m. The reason for the unusual start time, is because this was the same time that fighting with Japan ended on August 15, 1945. The parade is always held on the second Sunday, in August. May it continue for many years to come. (Look for a guest post with pictures Sunday or Monday!)

The town of Pilsen (Plzen) in the Czech Republic honors the memory of the American heroes that liberated them in WWII.

In a way, apparently, leftist Americans in general and the current White House occupant in particular have forgotten, a village remembers what sacrifice is.

If this doesn’t put a lump in your throat and just a touch of tear in your eye, please have your family check you for a pulse.

Even 65 years later…….by the thousands

the citizens of Pilsen came to say thank you…

Lining the streets of Pilsen for miles.

From large crowds

To quiet reflective moments

Including this American family’s private time to honor and remember their American hero.

This is the crash site of Lt. Virgil P. Kirkham, the last recorded American USAAF pilot killed in Europe during WWII.

It was Lt. Kirkham’s 82nd mission and one that he volunteered to go on. At the time this 20 year old pilot’s P-47 Thunderbolt plane was shot down, a young 14 year old Czech girl, Zdenka Sladkova, was so moved by his sacrifice she made a vow to care for him and his memory.

For 65 straight years , Zdenka, now 79 years old, took on the responsibility to care for Virgil’scrash site and memorial near her home. On May 4th she was recognized by the Mayor of Zdenka’s home town of Trhanova , Czech Republic , for her sacrifice and extraordinary effort to honor this American hero.

Another chapter in this important story…..the Czech people are teaching their children about America’s sacrifice for their freedom.

American Soldiers, young and old, are the ”Rock Stars” these children and their parents want autographs from..

Yes, Rock Stars ! … As they patiently waited for his autograph, the respect this little Czech boy and his father have for our troops serving today was heartwarming and inspirational.

The Brian LaViolette Foundation will established The Scholarship of Honor in tribute to General George S. Patton and the American Soldier, past and present.

Each year, a different military hero will be honored in tribute to General Patton’s memory and their mission to liberate Europe .

This award will be presented to a graduating senior who will be entering the military or a form of community service such as fireman, policeman, teaching or nursing, a cause greater than self. The student will be from one of the five high schools in Pilsen , Czech Republic .

The first award will be presented in May 2011 in honor of Lt. Virgil Kirkham, that young 20 year old P-47 pilot killed 65 years ago in the final days of WWII.

Presenting Virgil’s award will be someone who knows the true meaning of service and sacrifice… someone who looks a lot like Virgil.

Marion Kirkham, Virgil’s brother, who himself served during WWII in the United States Army – Air Corps. !!!

In closing… Here is what the city of Pilsen thinks of General Patton’s grandson. George Patton Waters (another Rock Star!) we’re proud to say, serves on Brian’s Foundation board.

And it’s front page news!

Brigadier General Miroslav Zizka – 1st Deputy Chief of Staff – Ministry of Defense – Czech Armed Forces.

So please join this amazing journey.

Come visit Pilsen in the Czech Republic during the first part of May 2011, it may also be a life changing experience for you.

And please share this with your family and friends and ask them to do the same…..every American should hear this story.

Czech Cardinal: why Europe is threatened by Islam

One of the blogs that I make sure to visit a couple times a week is string theorist Lubos Motl’s The Reference Frame. It’s an interesting mishmash of leading edge physics, climate science, and Euro politics. Lubos is Czech, and from Pilzen (famous for their beer), and was a professor at Harvard for a while.

Because he’s Czech, and living in one of Europe’s most libertarian countries, he has some interesting angles from time to time on local and continental political issues. This is the direct, unvarnished blogging translation on this, and gives some insight into the intellectual and spiritual climate in the heart of Central Europe.

So here is the blog post by Dr. Motl of the interview with Cardinal Miloslav Vlk. Here are a few excerpts:

20) What should be the right solution of the painful problem of Palestine?

I understand that the original inhabitants of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capitals are the Jews. The whole Old Testament blesses and strongly confirms this idea. It’s equally true that the Muslims have been living on those places for a long time, although in a secondary way. I think that the two sides should agree that Jerusalem will be the Jewish capital and certain areas of Palestine will be left to the Muslims, assuming the guarantees that the Islam won’t threaten the Jews.

A little naive perhaps, to think that such a guarantee is possible, but he got the broad strokes right.

21) Do you think that Islam is threatening Europe and Christianity?

One issue is the question of immigration by which the Muslims are creating majorities not only at schools, because they have many children, but also in cities. And they have a potential for further growth. So the math is simple here. By the systematic emptying of the Christian contents of the Europeans’ lives, a void is being created that is easily filled by them. Europe has renounced its Christian roots from which it has grown and which could equip it with the strength to resist the threat of being “conquered” by the Muslims which is already happening, after all. In the late Middle Ages, the Islam didn’t manage to take over Europe by using weapons. Christians had won then. Nowadays, the battles are fought with “spiritual” weapons. Europe doesn’t have any while the Muslims are armed with them perfectly. That’s why the fall of Europe is a genuine threat. Muslims are coming here become of diverse reasons. One of them is a religious mission – to bring the spiritual values of the belief in God into the pagan environment of Europe and its Godless lifestyle – as they like to say.

We must therefore be prepared to expect that if Europe doesn’t change its attitude to its own roots, the continent will be islamized. One-sidedly absolutized human rights are yet another driver that opens the door to such a future. Christianity is under pressure from Islam: we must live our belief at full speed. It’s one of the signs and challenges of our age.

As the saying goes, read the rest. Unfortunately, Dr. Motl only translated 4 of the 24 questions. A fuller translation would be appreciated from any Czechophone readers.
