It is obvious to me that every government building needs to be kept clear of rats, both literal and metaphorical!

LA Times: Larry the cat takes up residence at London’s famous 10 Downing Street

Larry the cat — a rescue from a London shelter, we’re pleased to point out — has joined the staff at 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the British prime minister, in response to concerns about the rodent population there. Prime Minister David Cameron’s office is now home to the tabby-and-white domestic shorthair, who was adopted from the U.K.’s well-known Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

A rat scurrying around Number 10 was caught on video by the BBC last month, and speculation quickly began swirling that the prime minister would get a cat to take care of any rodent problems. Apparently Cameron’s children were hot on the idea, so after some weeks of hesitation, Larry finally arrived at Downing Street this week.

Prior to striking it rich, Larry was a stray found wandering the streets of London. He’s believed to be about 3 to 5 years old and appears to have been on the streets for some time, according to Battersea. He had no identification and was not microchipped.

[…]

Asked why Larry was chosen over other cats at Battersea, Cameron spokesman Steve Field told Bloomberg News that the cat “showed a very strong predatory drive and enjoyed playing with toy mice,” important qualities for a cat in Larry’s new line of work…

Chuck’s car attacked

It’s been a while since Chuck has been mentioned, but he’s back. On Thursday, students in London rioted over the fact the UK government raised the cost of tuition. The UK has a debt crisis and the Cameron government has, to their credit, been addressing this. Chuck and his Un Mata Hari wife, Camilla, had the misfortune of being in the vicinity. Their car was surrounded and attacked with chants of “off with their heads” by the angry students.

LONDON – Furious student protesters attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, vandalized buildings and battled riot police Thursday as a controversial hike in university fees triggered Britain’s worst political violence in years.

In a major security breach, demonstrators set upon the heir to the throne’s Rolls Royce as it drove through London’s busy West End on its way to a theater. A group of up to 20 struck it with fists, sticks and bottles, breaking a window and splattering the gleaming black vehicle with paint.

In the frenzy, some chanted “off with their heads!”

Adnan Nazir, a 23-year-old podiatrist who was following the protesters, said Charles, 62, kept his calm, gently pushing his 63-year-old wife toward the floor to get her out of the line of fire.

“Charles got her on the floor and put his hands on her,” Nazir said. “Charles was still waving and giving the thumb’s up.

“It was just a surreal thing,” he said. “It was completely manic.”

Chuck clearly is not a popular man. He advocates others to do what he wouldn’t do with his fanatical call to cut back on baths and electricity use while he lives a luxurious lifestyle. He’s a washed up individual a who has become the object of jokes and suffers from delusions of grandeur.

Here is a video clip of the attack on Chuck and Un Mata Hari’s car.

David Frum keeps promoting David Cameron

Progressive Republican David Frum lives in a delusional world. He believes that UK PM David Cameron and his Progressive-Conservatism is the future for the Republican party. What he leaves out is the fact That Cameron is to the left of Labor, believes in Community organizing, supports Tax Hikes, and is hard core anti-Israel. In short, this man is a fraud and deserves no Conservative support in the United States.

The new Conservative-Liberal coalition government in the United Kingdom marks its 100th day in office this week: How’s it doing?

It could be said that the Cameron-Clegg government is acting like a very traditional Tory government. In June, the government produced an austerity budget: spending cuts, public-sector pay freezes, a hike in Britain’s value-added tax.

Yet at the same time, the new austerity budget goes to great lengths to protect Britain’s poorest. The public-sector pay freeze exempts workers earning less than 21,000 pounds; those workers actually receive a pay increase. The poorest 10 percent of households will face an average of 400 pounds per year in reduced benefits and tax increases; the richest 10 percent will lose an average of 1,800 pounds. Capital gains taxes will be raised, and a special levy will be imposed on British banks.

David Frum is Totalitarian Progressive masking as a Conservative. He want the Republicans to become Leftwing so the establishment accepts them. He is to be ignored and ridicule. PM David Cameron is no Churchill or Thatcher. He’s a charlatan we need to reject.

This is not the Britain of 1940

The great Melanie Phillips eviscerates the pasty faced progressive David Cameron over his Islamic appeasement policies in general, and his outreach to the Islamofascist Turkey of Recep  Erdogan in particular.  Cameron’s remark last week in which he referred to Gaza as a “prison camp” was as great an example of appalling ignorance that one will ever find a head of a western nation ever utter. The spirit of Dunkirk and the “London can take it” is just a memory.

by Melanie Phillips

When David Cameron became Britain’s Prime Minister, I warned that he would turn out to be even worse than Labour on the related issues of Israel and the global threat from Islamism to Britain and the west. This was because Cameron had no knowledge of or interest in foreign affairs, and so was always likely merely to reflect the most politically expedient views he encountered – which, given the current poisonous attitude within the British establishment and intelligentsia, were likely to push him into appeasing Britain’s mortal enemies in the Islamic world and dumping on Israel, Britain’s strategic ally in that great struggle.

But even I did not foresee just how cynical Cameron would turn out to be — and how dangerous therefore to the British national interest. Today’s truly shocking and quite astoundingly stupid speech in Turkey has now laid bare the fathomless shallowness and frightening ignorance and idiocy of Britain’s new Prime Minister.

Declaring himself a fervent supporter of Turkey’s bid to join the EU, Cameron declared that those who opposed this bid fell into one of three categories: protectionists; those who believed wrongly in a ‘clash of civilisations’ between east and west, whereas in fact

Turkey can be a great unifier, because instead of choosing between East and West, Turkey has chosen both;

or

those who wilfully misunderstand Islam

because they

… see no difference between real Islam and the distorted version peddled by the extremists.

Astonishingly, Cameron thus totally ignored the fact that Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recep Erdogan, is no secular Ataturk but an Islamic extremist; and as a result Turkey is changing from a secular state and strategic ally of the west into an Islamist tyranny and a new strategic enemy of the west. Here is what Turkish political economy professor Dani Rodrik wrote recently in the Wall Street Journal (£):

I no longer recognize Turkey, the country where I was raised and spend most of my time when I am not teaching in the U.S. It wasn’t so long ago that the country seemed to be taking significant strides in the direction of human rights and democracy… But more recently, the same government has been responsible for a politics of deception, dirty tricks, fear, and intimidation… It’s clear now that Turkey is no longer the liberalizing, emerging democracy under the AKP that it was only a few years ago. It’s time the U.S. and Europe stopped treating it as such—both for their own sakes, and for the sake of the Turkish people.

Into which category of prejudice would Cameron place the horrified Professor Rodrik – Turkish protectionist, Turkish culture warrior or Turkish Islamophobe?
