And the winner is… nobody.

May: And the winner of the Battle of Gaza is …

What took place in Gaza and Israel over the past three weeks was not a war – it was one battle in a war. Or, to be more precise, it was one battle in what the soldier/scholar John Nagl has described as a “global insurgency” aimed at overthrowing the existing order, what we used to call -in a more confident era – the Free World.

“Yes, Allah is greater than America.” Hamas supreme leader Khaled Mashaal said on al-Jazeera television a few years ago. “Allah is greater than the superpowers. We say to this West: By Allah you will be defeated.”

Too many people refuse to understand: Hamas is not fighting for a Palestinian state. Hamas is fighting for the annihilation of Israel, which it would replace with an Islamic emirate. Not the same thing at all.

A Contiguous Palestinian State?

A ”CONTINGUOUS ‘PALESTINIAN’ STATE”, MR. OBAMA?

In Obama’s first interview as President of The United States  (see thread below) he states that his final solution to the Arab/Israel conflict would include a “contiguous Palestinian State”.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Let’s go to a map.

ISRAEL

map-of-israel

On the bottom left of the map, near Egypt, is “the Gaza Strip”, on the right side of the map in red lettering is ” Judea and Samaria (mistakenly referred to as “The West Bank”).  These two area consist of what is often referred to as “The Palestinian Territories”, and what the Arabs demand to make a part of their supposedly desired State.  Obama, parroting the Arab argument, stated that any future Palestinian State would be contiguous.

What he didn’t mention however is that the only way this “contiguous Palestinian state” can be accomplished is to split Israel in half, and effectively create two separate cantons.  Beyond the obvious inequity of this suggestion, it would only further destabilize the area, and contribute drastically to a decease in Israel’s security.  I am sure this is what is intended by the Arabs when they make this suggestion, but I question President Obama.

What the Obama Administration seems not to recognize is that they are actively assisting the Arabs in moving forward with their stated goal of destroying Israel by using what is known as the P.L.O. Phased Plan.  This is not surprising however as all so-called “peace” negotiations are being made with Abu Mazen/Mahmood Abbas, who co-founded the P.L.O. with Yassir Arafat.

These are the three main points of the Phased Plan:

  • Through the “armed struggle” (i.e., terrorism), to establish an “independent combatant national authority” over any territory that is “liberated” from Israeli rule. (Article 2)
  • To continue the struggle against Israel, using the territory of the national authority as a base of operations. (Article 4)
  • To provoke an all-out war in which Israel’s Arab neighbors destroy it entirely (“liberate all Palestinian territory”). (Article 8 )

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Any deal which allows the creation of a “contiguous Palestinian State” will per the Phased Plan, reset the clock all the way back to the original 1947 Partition Plan when the Arabs (NOT “Palestinians” however) initially rejected a State, and instead chose a war of annihilation against Israel.  The Arabs will through negotiations, get what they were incapable of achieving through Terrorism alone.  The problem however, as stated in their Phased Plan, and as was evidenced by their response to Israel’s peace gesture of its 2005 expulsion of all Jews from Gaza,  is that a contiguous Palestinian State will only be the beginning of the next phase, and not and end to the conflict.

U.S. Navy Intercepts Iranian Weapons Headed To Hamas

Despite their public proclomations that their children are “impoverished” and starving, Hamas still seems to be spending all their available funds on weapons which they are getting from Iran.

“HERZLIYA, Israel – The U.S. Navy is conducting covert operations aimed at intercepting Iranian ships carrying weapons to rearm Hamas in the Gaza Strip, informed defense officials told WND.

The setup, which has already halted a vessel carrying Iranian munitions in recent days, acts on intelligence information provided by Israel, Egypt and Cyprus, the defense officials said.

The U.S. Navy refused to comment, but informed sources said the U.S. last week intercepted an Iranian-owned vessel found to be carrying weapons, including rockets, mortar and artillery shells. It is suspected the ship was attempting to reach the Egyptian Sinai area. If successful, the delivery would have represented a major escalation by providing Hamas with artillery, something the terrorist organization is not thought to possess.”

The new naval patrols and U.S. presence along the Gaza border comes in line with a memorandum of understanding signed between Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and outgoing U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The deal aims to curb Hamas rearmament and also includes patrols of the Persian Gulf, Sudan, and neighboring states.

One of Israel’s main goals for its offensive was to halt Hamas’ ability to smuggle weapons across the Egypt-Gaza border.

Israel is negotiating an international monitoring mechanism it hopes will stop Hamas from smuggling weapons from neighboring Egypt into Gaza. But previous international monitors stationed along the Egypt-Gaza border fled their duty and repeatedly failed to stem Hamas’ weapons smuggling.

The monitors were stationed at the border following Israel’s 2005 evacuation of the Gaza Strip.”

I hope that Obama, and the Israeli Government remember that last part.

Gazan doctor says death toll inflated

Gazan doctor says death toll inflated
Physician at Gaza’s Shifa Hospital tells Italian newspaper number of dead in Israeli offensive ‘stands at no more than 500 or 600, most of them youths recruited to Hamas’ ranks’. Senior Palestinian Health Ministry official denies claims, IDF estimate on 1,200 casualties in Strip remains unchanged

What really is behind the numbers reported on the number of civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip? Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera reported Thursday that a doctor working in Gaza’s Shifa Hospital claimed that Hamas has intentionally inflated the number of casualties resulting from Israel’s Operation Cast Lead.

“The number of deceased stands at no more than 500 to 600. Most of them are youths between the ages of 17 to 23 who were recruited to the ranks of Hamas, who sent them to the slaughter,” according to the newspaper article.

Hassanain told Ynet that the Palestinian figures were issued cautiously, without any political considerations, and that several casualties may not have been reported as their bodies are still under the rubble or have not been handed over to the rescue forces and authorized medical officials.

‘Mostly armed teenagers’
A Tal al-Hawa resident told the newspaper’s reporter, “Armed Hamas men sought out a good position for provoking the Israelis. There were mostly teenagers, aged 16 or 17, and armed. They couldn’t do a thing against a tank or a jet. They knew they are much weaker, but they fired at our houses so that they could blame Israel for war crimes.”

The reporter for the Italian newspaper also quoted reporters in the Strip who told of Hamas’ exaggerated figures, “We have already said to Hamas commanders – why do you insist on inflating the number of victims?”

These same reporters mentioned that the truth that will come out is likely to be similar to what occurred in Operation Defensive Shield in Jenin. “Then, there was first talk of 1,500 deaths. But then it turned out that there were only 54, 45 of which were armed men,” the Palestinian reporters told the Italian newspaper.
