Egyptian military assisted Israeli drone strike

Al-Qaeda and their allies Hamas have been battling Egyptian security forces for control of the Sinai. They have used the area to launch rocket attacks on Israel. In rare act of cooperation, the Egyptian military assisted the Israelis in targeting an Islamist rocket team with a drone strike.

EL-ARISH, Egypt (AP) — An Israeli drone strike inside Egypt killed five suspected Islamic militants and destroyed a rocket launcher Friday, two senior Egyptian security officials said, marking a rare Israeli operation carried out in its Arab neighbor’s territory.

The strike, coming after a warning from Egypt caused Israel to briefly close an airport Thursday, potentially signals a significant new level of cooperation between the two former foes over security matters in the largely lawless Sinai Peninsula after a military coup ousted Egypt’s president. Egypt long has maintained that it wouldn’t allow other countries to use its territories as hotbed to launch attacks against other countries.

Residents heard a large explosion Friday in el-Agra, an area in the northern region of the Sinai close to Egypt’s border with Israel. The officials said the Israeli attack was in cooperation with Egyptian authorities.

As al-Qaeda and Hamas continue to destabilize the Sinai, this will not be the last time Egypt and Israel militarily cooperate.

Arab leagues asks for a No Fly Zone over Gaza

I know this day would come. For 15 years I have felt that one day, the Islamic nations would go running to the UN for help against Israel. Well with Libya and Ivory Coast as a precedent, the Arab Islamic nations are now asking for a no fly zone over Gaza.

The Arab League on Sunday announced during a special meeting in Cairo that it plans to press the UN to impose a no-fly zone over Gaza amid an escalation in violence in the area, AFP reported.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa said he plans to present the proposal to the UN Security Council, the report said.

This is why Hamas provoked Israel, they wanted a fight so the International Community, can step in and go against Israel. Libya will be the model that the Arabs want to use against Israel.

Responding to a J Streeter

Greetings, netizens!

As I wrote before, I hope you see Love and Licenses on January 6th in NYC. However, I am writing this to discuss something else entirely.

I had a long back-and-forth communique with a progressive J Streeter, and I figured that you would appreciate my arguments, so that you may use my words in the future, should you come across similar such arguments.

It is important to note that there is a large swath of people who fit this category: they believe Israel has a right to exist, but they also believe Israel is a “colonizer” in Judea/Samaria (the “West Bank,” – we cannot cede language), and must go back to 1949 borders. This essay is meant to serve as a handy reference guide when you are faced with such people!

—————–

ARGUMENT ONE: Israel is in violation of UN resolutions by being in Judea/Samaria ILLEGALLY. In order to stop violating “international law,” Israel needs to leave Judea/Samaria.
Here is the bottom line. The UN is made up of the countries that make up the UN, and that consists of a majority of despotic regimes that are antisemitic in nature. See: UN Watch, Eye on the UN.

You claimed that one of the “proofs” that Israel is “illegally occupying” the “settlements” are the numerous UN resolutions against the State of Israel.

I have the simplest answer in response. So what? Do you think I am unaware of the numerous resolutions against Israel, none of which are binding, but all of which simply prove the UN is a made up of antisemitic countries that punish the good guys?

The General Assembly resolutions are little more than suggestions, and are non-binding on an international level. The only binding “international law,” to the extent it even exists, are Security Council Resolutions. And Israel is not in violation of even a single Security Council resolution. The only resolution anyone points to is UN resolution 242, which was drafted by Eugene Rostow, undersecretary of State under Lyndon B. Johnson. And this resolution only calls for Israel to withdraw from “land for peace.” However – it does not call for Israel to withdraw from all land, and it only calls for Israel to withdraw from land in exchange for peace, not jihad.

Israel’s New Spy Robot Snake & Other Defense Items

Being the enemy of Israel just got a bit less appealing….

The Authority for Research and Development of Weapons in the Defense Ministry has developed a robot snake fitted with video and audio equipment that advances on the ground into enemy positions for intelligence collection. It can be used for special forces stealth operations, for crawling through Hamas tunnels or into Hizbullah bunkers. In addition, it could be used for locating survivors inside collapsed buildings after natural disasters or terror attacks.

The six-foot long snake can also be fitted with explosives and detonated inside enemy positions — a capability dubbed as ‘suicide.’ The snake is currently in the prototype stage of development and has no price tag yet, but the Defense Ministry plans to begin production on a large scale soon.

According to a report on Channel 2, the snake can crawl into enemy positions through sewage pipes, under buildings and through forests. It is operated by one person with a laptop computer.

Other new weapons are already being supplied to the IDF, and are expected to be popular in upcoming weapons exhibits. Tanks in one of the IDF’s armored regiments will soon receive new shells, called Kalanit, for a week of experimental use.

Fitted for 120 mm. guns, the Kalanit APAM is primarily intended for use against anti-tank squads that hide behind obstacles and are thus hard to hit using regular munitions. Unlike regular shells, which have a flat trajectory, the Kalanit is not fired directly at the enemy target but rather at a point in the air directly above it. According to the IDF website, it then stops in mid-air and releases six disc-shaped charges, or submunitions, at different intervals. The shrapnel from these charges covers a very wide and long kill zone and is effective against scattered targets as well as concentrated ones.

Unlike the Rakefet, however, the Kalanit receives its target data when it is already inside the gun’s chamber. The tank crew needs only to mark the target with a press of a button and fire the shell, which will do all the rest automatically.  These unique features of the Kalanit make it possible for the tank crew to carry it inside the gun chamber and fire it immediately upon spotting a target.

The shell has four settings, for different types of targets. Besides being effective against infantry and anti-tank units, it can also be used against buildings, bunkers, armored personnel carriers and even helicopters. For a concentrated high explosive blast, all six submunitions.
